There might have been some who would have believed President Biden would focus solely on his work of Governing And Notbe as engaged in the campaigning when he stepped aside. Thats not appears how its unfolding. Well expect to see the president in some Battleground States that are critical for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz to do well. Think of wisconsin this week. And michigan. Places where the president can speak to voters with whom he has shown a Track Record of success. Union workers in particular. Older voters. Places where some of his policies have resonated in the community. The president was asked about this and a chance to be back out on the Campaign Trail by reporters and heres how he responded. How is it to be back on the Trail Today . Feels good. How do you feel about pennsylvania right now . I feel real good about pennsylvania. Reporter pennsylvania, of course, the state of the commonwealth of the president s birth and a place where he also has a lot of knowledge about the county by county vote. And it is one of the big prizes for democrats. Very critical in the math for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. And the president will try to use his long relationships there in any way that he can. Certainly we saw that with Labor Day by his return. One of the biden traditions of being in pennsylvania, specifically pittsburgh, on Labor Day. Chris . Kelly odonnell, thank you for that. The Philadelphia Eagles are tackling some fake news about a Kamala Harris endorsement. Nbc 10s lauren make is reporting from philly. Give us the playbyplay on whats going on there. Reporter yeah, chris. It is game over for these ads at this point. The eagles say they are counterfeit. A spokesperson for the Harris Campaign tells Nbc News that they did not buy these ads but they showed up on Bus Shelters including the one right behind me around the city. And as you might expect here in philadelphia, the combination of politics and football certainly did get attention. Now let me show you what these posters looked like before they were taken down. What you saw on them was a, an image of a woman resembling Vice President harris wearing an Eagles Football Helmet with the words kamala, official candidate of the Philadelphia Eagles. There were at least seven of these around the city. The posters also included the address of a website that takes you to a section of the Eagles Website about voting. But again, the eagles referred to these as counterfeit and this comes at a time when we are heading into the final two months of the Election Season. A time when we often warn about misinformation spreading. Mostly online, but i spoke today to a Temple University Professor about what we are seeing this Election Season and with these ads in particular. Something doesnt add up. Its too good to be true and things dont match up and if you dig a little too deep, you ultimately discover the truth. But again, the sad part is that we are so overwhelmed with information these days that most people do not take the time to dig a step or two deeper and you know, they just act as cheerleaders on whatever kind of suits matches their own set of believes. Reporter yeah, some things to watch out for as we head into those final two months. Now, the company that handles the advertising on these Bus Shelters, they tell us there are actually locks on those cases back there that typically prevent people from getting inside, putting stuff in there thats not supposed to be there, but that sometimes people do find a way around that. Weve also learned this afternoon that the Philadelphia District Attorneys Office is investigating through their election Task Force. So well keep an eye on that. Chris, well throw things back to you from here in philadelphia. Thank you so much. Now to turkey where two u. S. Marines were violently attacked by a nationalist mob chanting yankees go home. Courtney reports from the pentagon. There is some harrowing video of this incident. Tell us what happened. Some of it is pretty tough to watch. These marines were on leave in turkey. They had been part of a Military Exercise with the amphibious ship and turkish military but they were there on leave when this group came upon them and attacked them. Now you can hear in the audio on this video that was posted by this group them saying yankees go home. Its the turkish youth union. Its a nationalist group made up primarily of younger turkish citizens who claim to be against the united states. This is not the first time though theyve lashed out against u. S. Military or those associated or affiliated with the u. S. Military. In fact, in the last ten years, there have been two other cases where this same group went after members of the military and in one case, someone with department of defense. They said they were protesting against the u. S. Policy in the middle east. The u. S. Military for their part says after the video we saw here, other marines who were also there on leave were able to intervene, get them away from the crowd. They were taken to a local hospital where the u. S. Military says they were unharmed by this incident. Theyre back on the ship now bacK Safely. But administration officials here and at the White House are condemning this incident and saying that its pretty disturbing, chris. Thank you for that. In israel today, protestors demanding a Hostage Deal as hamas warns that other hostages will return in coffins if israeli soldiers attempt more rescues. Raf sanchez is live in Tel Aviv for us. I know you were just in those crowds. Tell me what you saw and heard. Reporter we saw many thousands of very angry, very heartbroken, and very desperate people who are demanding their own Prime Minister make a deal to save the lives of these remaining hostages inside of gaza. These are people completely clear eyed. That it is hamas who murdered these six young hostages including American Hersh goldbergpolin. But they also say the blood of these hostages is on the hands of prime Minister Netanyahu because they say he is not doing enough to reach a deal. Now, the, one of the Prime Ministers political superpowers, if you will, is his ability to withstand pressure. Withstand pressure from protestors. From the White House. Even from his own Defense Minister who is saying more should be done to get a deal. Prime Minister Netanyahus position is that israeli forces need to remain on the egypt gaza border. He says that is critical for stopping hamas Smuggling Weapons back into the gaza strip. And rearming, but that position of his has become an absolutely key Stumbling Block in these negotiations and it isnt just hamas who is saying this is a nonstarter, it is also egypt. One of the united states key partners in trying to reach a deal. So, sources tell Nbc News that the White House is considering putting a final take it or leave it offer on the table. We will see whether that adds to the pressure. But just to give you a sense of the urgency here, chris, hamas is saying that its forces have been given new instructions to kill israeli hostages rather than let them fall into the hands of israeli troops and that appears to be what happened in that tunnel at The End of last week. We know israeli forces were nearby, they were aboveground, and they were beginning to navigate into that tunnel and it appears hamas executed these six young hostages because they felt israeli troops were attempting a rescue. They say if israel want their hostages back, there needs to be a deal and that Military Pressure will lead to the deaths of more hostages. You were talking to us as we were watching the live pictures that were coming from Tel Aviv where you just were and there was what seemed to be an intense situation between Police Officers and some of the crowd then they started moving away and then the crowd seemed to follow them. But what is the level of intensity when youre in the middle of that . Reporter its very intense, chris. So on sunday, we saw 300,000 protestors on the streets here in Tel Aviv. Proportional to population. That is the equivalent of well over 10 Million americans all out demonstrating. People feel very, very strongly that enough is enough. 11 months into this war it is unbelievable that israeli hostages are still in the hands of hamas inside of the gaza strip. One israeli told me it feels like October 8th just in terms of the completely disorienting levels of grief over the deaths of those six young hostages. Especially hersh goldbergpolin. That 23yearold american israeli who was kidnapped from the nova music festival. His left arm partly severed by a Hamas Grenade and his parents have been over the course of these last 11 months, just tireless spokes people for his freedom and the freedom of others. At a moment when president ial campaigns traditionally form late their closing arguments, harris is still making her introductions but with two months to go and traditionally time voters really start tuning in, the Vice President faces a big challenge. Steve kornacki is at the big Board Digging into the numbers. Okay, post Labor Day, the beginning of The End. We traditionally look at it in politics. Where do things stand . So nationally, what youre seeing here, this is the average of the polls. Harris with a Threepoint Advantage over trump. The democrats are happy to be ahead and that this is an improvement of them from where Joe Biden was. He was basically trailing trump in the polling all year. From the republican standpoint, they can take solace from the fact that Donald Trump is no stranger to being in the position at Labor Day. In fact, this Threepoint Gab he has now, thats better for him than it was in 2016 when he ran against hillary clinton. He trailed by five at this point. Trump of course went on to win that election. 2020, trump trailed biden by even more. Almost double digits around Labor Day. He didnt win, but made it close in the Electoral College and that really becomes the question. The road to 270. Were going to be giving this a lot of use in the next 63 days. These are the Core Battleground states. So from harris perspective, what would be the most efficient way, the simplest way, the cleanest way for her to get to 270. When you look at the state polling, the first thing you could say is all of it is close. A lot of it very, very close but the democrats are doing a little bit better in calling the great Lake States of wisconsin, michigan, and pennsylvania. So if harris were able to just carry these three states, all went for biden in 2020, and if you turn them blue now, it would bring harris to exactly 270 electoral votes. Now, if she starts losing these states, she needs to compensate for it in some of these Sun Belt states and particularly one of these three the Trump Campaign is investing the heaviest in is pennsylvania. If trump were to get pennsylvania, two things would happen. From harris standpoint, pennsylvania is the largest of the swing states. It would take two states from the Sun Belt for harris to make up for the loss of one pennsylvania but also if trump were to get pennsylvania, that would open up for him what is his simplest, cleanest path to 270. Get pennsylvania, Hold On to north carolina. Only one of the Core Battleground states trump carried in 2020. So if he hangs on to that. Then georgia. Georgia went for biden by just under 12,000 votes. Very, very narrow in 2020. Had gone for trump in 16. If trump can win georgia back, Holding On To Carolina and flipping pennsylvania, suddenly, its trump whos at 270 electoral votes. Thank you. Joining us now, former democratic congresswoman from maryland, Donna Edwards and John Kasich. Both are msnbc political analysts. Okay, let me do a big picture first if i can, congresswoman. The Trump Campaign has been banking on there being an end to what they call this six Week Harris Honeymoon phase. Do you see that in the polls that steve just laid out . The possibility that honestly this could go either way . Well, i mean, look. I think as the Vice President has acknowledged that this is going to be a close election. It was going to be a close election if biden were running and its certainly going to be a close election now and so i dont think that democrats are really taking anything for granted and the reality is that the trends are going id rather be in Kamala Harris shoes. The trends are going much more in her direction. It feels like trump has this sort of ceiling that he cant get beyond. And its about adding voters and adding to the map. Kamala Harris Messaging does that. Donald trumps really does not. So what its going to be close and i think everybody whos anywhere near this acknowledges that which is why every single voter, every constituency is going to count. Theres no doubt about that. And governor, youre from a great Lake State that steve did not mention, which is ohio. But when you look at these great Lake States, you look at those blue wall states, pennsylvania, wisconsin, michigan. Whats going to be the difference there as you see it . Youre on the ground. Youre in that region. You know what folks are talking about. And how do you see it going . Economics. You know, whos going to feel better about how their family will do when the election is over. The huge number in those states of Blue Collar white voters. Those are the difference . And how they feel about their pocketbook. I think its about every voter. Doesnt matter who you are. Youre looking as to how would my family do based on one of these two candidates. And it always gets down to that. Theres other issues that crop up. Once in a while, something could happen on the foreign Policy Policy Scene that would get peoples attention. Things could happen. Something crazy could happen down there on the border although all kind of crazy is already happening. At The End, its going to be about that wallet. And that is what the former governor Jim Rhodes told George Bush the senior in that election. Just going to all get down to the wallet. Always is. Thats the way ive always thought about it. It is very close. And i will also say, chris, its really critical the debate thats coming up. How does harris do in that debate and what happens with trump. Does he do something thats just you know, a total turnoff to voters . That debate is what we all have to focus on right now. Yeah. I want to go back though if i can for just a second, congresswoman, to this game we all like to play. Move around the states. If one wins this, the other has to win that. When we were talking about florida, 30, 30 electoral votes. It is the third largest number of electoral votes in the Electoral College that would blow everything up. But trump advisers according to the ones at politico has talked to, they believe they have more paths to victory than harris does. Does that seem right to you . I thinK Since Kamala Harris got into the race is that their view is that the electoral map has expanded for them, which is why you see the Campaign Spending Money and time in north carolina. Certainly, arizona, nevada continue to be on the drawing board. Its a much more expansive pathway. I do think that the Harris Campaign believes that they may have multiple avenues to get to the 270 electoral vote whereas thats much more narrow for Donald Trump. And i think the more the Harris Campaign can make Donald Trump Spend Money wher
