We we are learning this was breaking late last night, can you bring our audience up to speed on what we know . Yeah, well, we heard about this late last night, today was kind of a day here in Tel Aviv we are expecting to see protesters, thousands of them, descending to the streets in Tel Aviv, as what is known as Hostage Square now, they have christened this square in Tel Aviv, because of the repeated protests all the time, demanding, not just a hostage deal, but the resignation of Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, a really loud and clear signal we have been seeing, and when we talk about this situation, the political circumstance here, the people who are advocating for the Hostage Release or advocating for Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu to step down, that is kind of the same crowd, it overlays very neatly over the culture wars, here in israel. Its a lot of the same crowd that we saw protesting up against Benjamin Netanyahus judicial reforms, even before October 7th last year, when there were rolling protests. I was here just a year ago for this. And so, we are really seeing huge emotion here, not just for the release of these hostages, but against the government, and that is why what we are just now, from the hostage forum, the familys for them, this is the group that typically represents these families, they want to see they want to see this expression of Anger Today that really is unprecedented now. It is going to be hard to top what they have already been doing, not just over the past couple of months, but even last summer. So, it looks as though they said something to the effect of, they want to make the nation shutter, they want to shut it down. So, we are expecting huge protest tonight. I wouldnt be surprised, and i dont want to go over the top here, i wouldnt be surprised if it gets violent, because it has been getting violent in the past, but this is a very sad day for israel. They discovered the six bodies in a Tunnel Command according to the idea, they have been killed just moments before they were discovered as this the military was bearing down on them inside this tunnel in the southern Gaza Strip and the city of raphael. But as we are talking about all of this, at the same time, there is some positive news. H4x there is going to be positive the fighting. Starting today, for a couple of hours every day, for several weeks as health Workers Fan out across the Gaza Strip in isolated sections of gaza to try to inoculate more than half 1 Million children for polio. And this comes just about a week after we saw the first infant in the Gaza Strip inflicted with paralysis on one of his legs. He has polio. This is the first case of polio in the Gaza Strip and 25 years. Theres about a 1. 2 million doses of this vaccine against polio, which, by the way, is a very terrifying disease, because it is totally, totally preventable, but it is unclear about once it has been contracted. So, that is why it is such a concern for global health advocates, you know, this was a disease that was going the way of smallpox before we saw it, here in the Gaza Strip and really, and i spoke with one World Health Organization representative yesterday. He was saying it is really only found in afghanistan and pakistan. So, that is why the siting of it in the Gaza Strip is so troubling, and why after famine, Tens Of Thousands of deaths, mostly among civilians according to Gaza Health authorities, that hasnt been able to silence the guns, but polio and the threat of this disease coming back, that has been able to create some sort of pause in various parts of the Gaza Strip, and we are going to be seeing that every day for the next several weeks. Guys . If you could give us, also, as you look at the crosshairs, as you just mentioned, the humanitarian impact, obviously, on the palestinian people In Gaza, the hostages and their circumstance, what are you hearing about how that, particularly with this these hostages that change the scenario and the pressure to get that ceasefire in place that has been sort of lagging behind . You know, these narratives, i mean it is just not it is not pulling the agenda forward enough. You think this may shift that effort some . And have we heard anything from the families . Of the hostages that were killed . Yeah. Like i said, this is expected to be a pretty big protest, and there have already been some really big protest, but this series of deaths, the six people, the discovery of their bodies really vindicates the Hostage Families and a lot of these protesters who have been saying time and time again that there is no military solution to getting these hostages back and that has been the line from, really October 7th onwards, and Benjamin Netanyahu and his rightwing ministers in what is the most right Wing Cabinet in israeli history, they have said over and over again, we are applying Military Pressure on hamas and that will move the dial, that will get them to the table, to agree to a Hostage Swap to agree to some kind of deal and they will not stop there Military Operation according to Benjamin Netanyahu and his ministers, until hamas is completely destroyed. Obviously hamas will never sign up to a deal that sees them completely destroyed and now, Benjamin Netanyahu is putting up new roadblocks, new demands in these negotiations and the united states has really been sticking to the biden administration pouring a lot of diplomatic resources into we saw last week there were negotiations in cairo, and doha, which are expected to continue, shrouded in pessimism from all sides, but this is a demand that Benjamin Netanyahu says he will see soldiers on the philadelphia court, and that is just another name for the border between the Gaza Strip and egypts sinai peninsula. That is a nonstarter for hamas and it has been very controversial for the egyptians, who share that border, and a lot of senior officials, within, not just politicians, but also within the top brass of the military, here in israel. They have been saying, Benjamin Netanyahus demand are just dilatory measures, he is just trying to stop the steel from happening, both because if you exceeds to a deal that doesnt involve the total destruction of hamas he could see these rightwing ministers leave his commitment, but also because theres a lot of thinking here, and even heard this from the biden administration a couple months ago from biden himself, that there is a possibility that Benjamin Netanyahu is delaying this deal, because he is worried that once there is a deal he will be voted out of office, and then the law will catch up with him, the judges will throw him in jail for Corruption Allegations that he is already been facing. So, in many ways, it is not uncommon to hear this in the press and even among people who are not particularly left wing, here in israel, but Benjamin Netanyahu is sacrificing lifes of these hostages in order to save his own skin, legally. This is something you here all the time, and we have been hearing it from the White House as well, and that is why the anger on the Streets Tonight is expected to be so fierce and so palpable. Guys . Well, simon, michael, first of all we have to say we are heartbroken, because this american hostage, Hersh Goldbergpolin was an american citizen attending a musical festival, just like any american Youth Today would be attending a Soccer Tournament or Backtoschool Barbecue and he was taken by terrorists, his arm was blown off, he managed to somehow survive that gruesome wound and he survived 11 months in captivity, and his parents, John Polin and Rachel Goldbergpolin, i have met with him personally, they have met on the global stage , they have met with President Biden, with World Leaders around the globe to basically plead, please let these hostages go, and hamas could end this right now, by letting nearly 100 hostages go. To answer your question directly, simon, i think it is full steam ahead to try to get a ceasefire deal. I dont think any discovery of additional hostages who have been murdered by hamas really changes the equation. The united states once a Cease Fire. We want we want the hostages released, all of them. There are still seven american Hostages Unaccounted for or, we believe are living, but for hamas to brutally murder an american hostage in cold blood, just as we are negotiating their release just shows you the depravity of that organization off the ideology on their tactics. I have to just say, personally, i have been working with John Polin<\/a> and Rachel Goldbergpolin<\/a> , the parents of The American<\/a> who was murdered and i really believe, i really believe in my heart of hearts that this was going to have a happy ending. I believe he was going to be released. There were so many efforts underway, so many people of goodwill across the world, including from The Arab<\/a>, from the palestinian, from the muslim world, who actually came to us and said that they wanted to work on the release of hostages. And i really believed he was going to be reunited with his parents, with his two sisters, with his loving family, with all of his friends, and i am just absolutely heartbroken, devastated that that is not going to happen for him and his family, but we cannot rest, because there are still 100 hostages that are being held, including seven americans. Jeremy, this is a part of the statement from President Biden<\/a> released late last night. President biden notes it is as tragic as it is reprehensible, make no mistake, hamas leaders will pay for these crimes, and we will keep working around the clock for ideals to secure the release of the remaining hostages. M. , late last night, eastern time, she sent one line to me by text, which is hebrew, it said [ speaking in a global language ] bless you, o lord, who is the judge or of truth, and that is the statement that people say to each other, when they have heard the news of somebody passing. And so, she was saying to me that her Beloved Hersh<\/a> had passed. I dont need to tell anybody here, everybody can imagine themselves in a situation of seeing their own child abducted, surviving devastating wounds and being held in tunnels, at gunpoint for 11 months, starved, tortured, beaten, and working around the clock, because, of course, it wouldnt defy the laws of physics to release this person, it is just the fact that evil people were holding him. Evil people who were not being held accountable by the world community, by powers in the world, whether they were from the united states, israel, The Arab<\/a> and muslim world, they were not being held accountable. He is going to be getting in the campaign this Labor Day<\/a>, the politico notes, bidens Labor Day<\/a> campaign stops, reflects his Target Role<\/a> in the Campaign Trail<\/a> in the months ahead, the Harris Campaign<\/a> and his team will deploy him to a state where he can tap into his strength with all of the white voters he won in 2020, including pennsylvania. The point here is that now the president has another aspect that he can bring to the conversation on the trail that reinforces the Bona Fides<\/a> the Foreign Policy<\/a> Bona Fides<\/a> of the president who is seeking to be commanderinchief. How does that can you speak to that Balancing Act<\/a> of trying to do the politics, while also trying to, you know, deal with the world events around it, and this is something that the Vice President<\/a> will obviously have to address in the course of her campaign. Kamala harris is the Vice President<\/a> , and she is also a candidate, so that is a very delicate balance, and when you are looking at who you sent out on the trail on your behalf, it is always about strategy. Where do people play best . And i can tell you, as a surrogate, the last thing you want to do is to harm a candidate. And i know that is the position that the president feels, he wants to go and say and do the things that will help strengthen her as a candidate, but as my mother often says, you only have to tell the truth once, and the truth is that this White House<\/a> has been very clear on its position, as it relates to any number of world affairs. And whether you agree or disagree with the biden harris administration, you can at least know and go to Bed And Rest<\/a> assured that there are people in the White House<\/a> making sane decisions, that they are getting information from the most competent leaders in national security, that they are being very thoughtful about the decisions that they are making. So, i suspect that when the president goes out, he is going to talk about how this administration has delivered two states, like pennsylvania, he is going to talk about the position that this administration has taken on any number of issues facing the globe. And he is going to own those positions, while also advocating for the Vice President<\/a> , who has been a leader, and who has had a seat at the table, when all of these discussions have taken place. You know, mayor, i just think as you were talking about the split screen, between President Biden<\/a> and Vice President<\/a> Harris Campaign<\/a>ing tomorrow, to your point, folks who have been working diligently on a number of issues as it relates to our Foreign Policy<\/a>, but also domestic policy in an earnest way. I think if you disagree with i think people can have disagreements with the pieces of the policy, but i dont think one could argue that the president and Vice President<\/a> are earnest and sincere in what they are trying to do on behalf of The American<\/a> peoples diplomacy, and democracy worldwide. Just to close out with Donald Trump<\/a>, whom i dont think we have heard from this morning on the hostages, who were killed, let alone, specifically about the one american. But we heard from him a lot yesterday. And i mean, he has posted on truth social talking about the Vice President<\/a> lied about working at mcdonalds, saying she never worked there, and that he thinks shes nuts. This is just unbecoming of a commanderinchief to say the least. But also, these are the stakes. This is who is On The Other<\/a> side of this race. Yeah. And it is pretty frightening, symone, and this is who we are dealing with once again. This is a man, who doesnt take anything seriously, it appears, and even with a morning like this, the gravity of this morning, who knows what tangent he is on this morning, and i would imagine he cant imagine the Vice President<\/a> having worked at mcdonalds, because i would imagine he didnt work at mcdonalds. So, it just probably didnt resonate with him that that is what people do every day as young people. But i will just say, again, we have a choice between two very different candidates, and we have seen how Donald Trump<\/a> leads, we have seen what he cares about, what he doesnt care about. And as far as we can tell, he only cares about himself.
