Night President
biden said quote, it is a tragic it is as tragic as it is reprehensible, make no mistake, hamas leaders will pay for these crimes and we will keep working around the clock for a deal to secure the release of the remaining hostages. Msnbc foreign correspondent,
Matt Bradley
joins us now, from
Tel Aviv
in israel. Matt, good morning. We we are learning this was breaking late last night, can you bring our audience up to speed on what we know . Yeah, well, we heard about this late last night, today was kind of a day here in
Tel Aviv
we are expecting to see protesters, thousands of them, descending to the streets in
Tel Aviv
, as what is known as
Hostage Square
now, they have christened this square in
Tel Aviv
, because of the repeated protests all the time, demanding, not just a hostage deal, but the resignation of
Prime Minister
,
Benjamin Netanyahu
, a really loud and clear signal we have been seeing, and when we talk about this situation, the political circumstance here, the people who are advocating for the
Hostage Release
or advocating for
Prime Minister
,
Benjamin Netanyahu
to step down, that is kind of the same crowd, it overlays very neatly over the culture wars, here in israel. Its a lot of the same crowd that we saw protesting up against
Benjamin Netanyahu
s judicial reforms, even before
October 7th
last year, when there were rolling protests. I was here just a year ago for this. And so, we are really seeing huge emotion here, not just for the release of these hostages, but against the government, and that is why what we are just now, from the hostage forum, the familys for them, this is the group that typically represents these families, they want to see they want to see this expression of
Anger Today
that really is unprecedented now. It is going to be hard to top what they have already been doing, not just over the past couple of months, but even last summer. So, it looks as though they said something to the effect of, they want to make the nation shutter, they want to shut it down. So, we are expecting huge protest tonight. I wouldnt be surprised, and i dont want to go over the top here, i wouldnt be surprised if it gets violent, because it has been getting violent in the past, but this is a very sad day for israel. They discovered the six bodies in a
Tunnel Command
according to the idea, they have been killed just moments before they were discovered as this the military was bearing down on them inside this tunnel in the southern
Gaza Strip
and the city of raphael. But as we are talking about all of this, at the same time, there is some positive news. H4x there is going to be positive the fighting. Starting today, for a couple of hours every day, for several weeks as health
Workers Fan
out across the
Gaza Strip
in isolated sections of gaza to try to inoculate more than half
1 Million
children for polio. And this comes just about a week after we saw the first infant in the
Gaza Strip
inflicted with paralysis on one of his legs. He has polio. This is the first case of polio in the
Gaza Strip
and 25 years. Theres about a 1. 2 million doses of this vaccine against polio, which, by the way, is a very terrifying disease, because it is totally, totally preventable, but it is unclear about once it has been contracted. So, that is why it is such a concern for global health advocates, you know, this was a disease that was going the way of smallpox before we saw it, here in the
Gaza Strip
and really, and i spoke with one
World Health Organization
representative yesterday. He was saying it is really only found in afghanistan and pakistan. So, that is why the siting of it in the
Gaza Strip
is so troubling, and why after famine,
Tens Of Thousands
of deaths, mostly among civilians according to
Gaza Health
authorities, that hasnt been able to silence the guns, but polio and the threat of this disease coming back, that has been able to create some sort of pause in various parts of the
Gaza Strip
, and we are going to be seeing that every day for the next several weeks. Guys . If you could give us, also, as you look at the crosshairs, as you just mentioned, the humanitarian impact, obviously, on the palestinian people
In Gaza
, the hostages and their circumstance, what are you hearing about how that, particularly with this these hostages that change the scenario and the pressure to get that ceasefire in place that has been sort of lagging behind . You know, these narratives, i mean it is just not it is not pulling the agenda forward enough. You think this may shift that effort some . And have we heard anything from the families . Of the hostages that were killed . Yeah. It is a great question mike, michael, and the question on
Everyones Lipsky
here in israel and i will be answering it better a couple of hours from now see what goes on tonight. Like i said, this is expected to be a pretty big protest, and there have already been some really big protest, but this series of deaths, the six people, the discovery of their bodies really vindicates the
Hostage Families
and a lot of these protesters who have been saying time and time again that there is no military solution to getting these hostages back and that has been the line from, really
October 7th
onwards, and
Benjamin Netanyahu
and his rightwing ministers in what is the most right
Wing Cabinet
in israeli history, they have said over and over again, we are applying
Military Pressure
on hamas and that will move the dial, that will get them to the table, to agree to a
Hostage Swap
to agree to some kind of deal and they will not stop there
Military Operation
according to
Benjamin Netanyahu
and his ministers, until hamas is completely destroyed. Obviously hamas will never sign up to a deal that sees them completely destroyed and now,
Benjamin Netanyahu
is putting up new roadblocks, new demands in these negotiations and the united states has really been sticking to the biden administration pouring a lot of diplomatic resources into we saw last week there were negotiations in cairo, and doha, which are expected to continue, shrouded in pessimism from all sides, but this is a demand that
Benjamin Netanyahu
says he will see soldiers on the philadelphia court, and that is just another name for the border between the
Gaza Strip
and egypts sinai peninsula. That is a nonstarter for hamas and it has been very controversial for the egyptians, who share that border, and a lot of senior officials, within, not just politicians, but also within the top brass of the military, here in israel. They have been saying,
Benjamin Netanyahu
s demand are just dilatory measures, he is just trying to stop the steel from happening, both because if you exceeds to a deal that doesnt involve the total destruction of hamas he could see these rightwing ministers leave his commitment, but also because theres a lot of thinking here, and even heard this from the biden administration a couple months ago from biden himself, that there is a possibility that
Benjamin Netanyahu
is delaying this deal, because he is worried that once there is a deal he will be voted out of office, and then the law will catch up with him, the judges will throw him in jail for
Corruption Allegations
that he is already been facing. So, in many ways, it is not uncommon to hear this in the press and even among people who are not particularly left wing, here in israel, but
Benjamin Netanyahu
is sacrificing lifes of these hostages in order to save his own skin, legally. This is something you here all the time, and we have been hearing it from the
White House
as well, and that is why the anger on the
Streets Tonight
is expected to be so fierce and so palpable. Guys . All right,

Breaking News
. I want to go to this point that we know from the israeli military media, given autopsies that the hostages the bodies that were recovered, were shortly were killed the people were killed shortly before the troops got to them. These israeli defense forces. Which, as michael and i were just discussing in the break, suggests that they were killed intentionally, because hamas knew they were they were coming to be rescued. around the globe to basically plead, please let these hostages go, and hamas could end this right now, by letting nearly 100 hostages go. To answer your question directly, simon, i think it is full steam ahead to try to get a ceasefire deal. I dont think any discovery of additional hostages who have been murdered by hamas really changes the equation. The united states once a

Jeremy, you know, this points to symones question that there are a lot of efforts that are underway, within the
West Wing
situation room, looking at this, of course, the
State Department
and other governmental organizations that you know, as they are trying to gather that, the president has put out a very forceful statement, obviously to condemn these killings. Hamas has responded to this hostage crisis, dr. Basem naeem says
President Biden
is concerned with reserving human life, regardless of its nationality or religion, he must exercise his powers and uses tools to stop the aggression immediately and force netanyahu and his fascist government to sign a

, which he seeks to disrupt every time either by committing or thick massacres or adding new conditions. They are the ones who just killed six individuals, because as, simon noted, they were about to be rescued. How do these actions complicate this effort towards a

. Which, to be honest, has been languishing . Back and forth, between israel and hamas and the u. S. Trying to push this ball forward. What next steps can be taken, given the complication of this hard, hard no stands in the face of these killings, as well as the efforts to try to rescue the remaining hostages . Well, an event like this makes it even more urgent to get the rest of the

On The Other hand, i think it does also make more urgent the effort to get out any innocent captives who can be released. I have to just say, personally, i have been working with
John Polin and
Rachel Goldbergpolin , the parents of
The American who was murdered and i really believe, i really believe in my heart of hearts that this was going to have a happy ending. I believe he was going to be released. There were so many efforts underway, so many people of goodwill across the world, including from
The Arab, from the palestinian, from the muslim world, who actually came to us and said that they wanted to work on the release of hostages. And i really believed he was going to be reunited with his parents, with his two sisters, with his loving family, with all of his friends, and i am just absolutely heartbroken, devastated that that is not going to happen for him and his family, but we cannot rest, because there are still 100 hostages that are being held, including seven americans. Jeremy, this is a part of the statement from
President Biden released late last night. President biden notes it is as tragic as it is reprehensible, make no mistake, hamas leaders will pay for these crimes, and we will keep working around the clock for ideals to secure the release of the remaining hostages. I will note, it seems that hamas responded to the president on hostages, with a statement of their own noting, part, if
President Biden is concerned with protecting human life, regardless of its nationality or religion, he must exercise his powers and uses tools to stop the aggression immediately and force
Benjamin Netanyahu and his fascist government to sign a ceasefire which he seeks to disrupt every time, either by committing or thick massacres or adding the conditions. The statement from hamas, obviously reprehensible, given that they executed reportedly, it seems, as though these people who literally were living their lives and abducted when taken into captivity. You have been working with the family, have you spoken to john and rachel . This last late last night, this morning, and if so, what can you tell us about how they are doing . Yeah. Well, simon, thank you for saying that that statement is reprehensible, because it is, and i did speak to john and
Rachel Yesterday morning, actually i have to say even as early as yesterday morning, saturday morning, they were still working different angles, opportunities, points of leverage, including with u. S. Government officials, to see how they can get their loved one,
Hersh Goldbergpolin, as well as the other hostages released, and it was only late in the afternoon that i reached out to them, and they did confirm to me, rachel confirmed to me that they were waiting to hear about the identification of certain remains that the idf identified , and she just said one word to me. She said, pray. And of course, that is what i did all night long, and then about 11 15 p. M. , late last night, eastern time, she sent one line to me by text, which is hebrew, it said [ speaking in a global language ] bless you, o lord, who is the judge or of truth, and that is the statement that people say to each other, when they have heard the news of somebody passing. And so, she was saying to me that her
Beloved Hersh had passed. I dont need to tell anybody here, everybody can imagine themselves in a situation of seeing their own child abducted, surviving devastating wounds and being held in tunnels, at gunpoint for 11 months, starved, tortured, beaten, and working around the clock, because, of course, it wouldnt defy the laws of physics to release this person, it is just the fact that evil people were holding him. Evil people who were not being held accountable by the world community, by powers in the world, whether they were from the united states, israel,

Harriswalls Campaign Memo will lay out the state of the race for the final weeks ahead. The campaign says it views
Vice President harris and
Governor Walz as the quote, clear underdogs and they have work to do. The memo notes the campaign invested a surge in donations to fund more than 300 offices, then 2000 staffers in swing states. Tomorrow,
Vice President harris will visit two battlegrounds on
Labor Day. First up, michigan. Then, off to pennsylvania. But early voting starts in just , simon, 15 days. Spectrally. And when she is not campaigning, harris is preparing for her first debate against
Donald Trump, set for september 10th. Joining us now, former atlanta mayor, a
Senior Advisor to the harriswalls campaign, good morning, mayor, welcome. Good morning. Good morning, mayor. Good to see you. You know, you were in georgia and atlanta, and honestly, before we get to the campaign news, i mean, 15 days away, this is
The General election, we are literally within it. Obviously, there is news coming out overnight about the hostages, whose bodies were recovered. You are at the
White House, you served as
Senior Advisor to the president and also, director of the office of public engagement. I have to imagine that, if you are in the
White House right now, you would be fielding a lot of calls, and you can just take our viewers into, maybe what
White House senior staff are dealing with this morning . Yeah, i have said in the
White House, symone, as you know, next to the second gentleman, who has been a great advocate for jewish people across the globe, and so, you know that, in a moment like this, it is all hands on deck. I have been in rooms with ambassador, susan rice, with people representing all races, all cultures across the globe, and this hits home, it is very personal for people and to the
White House, because we know that this
White House really represents who we are as people. There are people of all races, all cultures, all backgrounds in the
White House, and what people think of the
White House, they think of this mass massive complex. And you know that it is not. It is a very intimate space, so, when there is something heavy on the heart of one, it is something heavy on the heart of all. And i can only imagine that today it is a very heavy day. We saw the parents at the dnc convention, and in so many ways, we have been praying for the hostages, for their families, just as we have the innocent victims
In Gaza. So, this is it is heartbreaking, i couldnt help but think about how often my husband stays up at night, waiting for our kids to come home when they have gone out. And i cant imagine waiting for months on end for your children to return home and to wake up, or to go to bed with this news. Mayor, you strike a very personal court, in terms of how these events happen and impact a family. And we kind of got lost in the politics, and the noise and drama, and we forget the
Human Toll that these events take on everybody. And especially the leader of the free world. The president himself. Who is now in this very difficult space of balancing the
Breaking News around the killing of six hostages, including an american, and trying to advance the cause of peace in that space. But then also trying to make sure that the next president is neither totalitarian oof who is out here trying to embrace the very thing that we see the fight going on
In Gaza and elsewhere around the globe, like ukraine. You have got the president that is going to be coming out this week. He is going to be getting in the campaign this
Labor Day, the politico notes, bidens
Labor Day campaign stops, reflects his
Target Role in the
Campaign Trail in the months ahead, the
Harris Campaign and his team will deploy him to a state where he can tap into his strength with all of the white voters he won in 2020, including pennsylvania. The point here is that now the president has another aspect that he can bring to the conversation on the trail that reinforces the
Bona Fides the
Foreign Policy
Bona Fides of the president who is seeking to be commanderinchief. How does that can you speak to that
Balancing Act of trying to do the politics, while also trying to, you know, deal with the world events around it, and this is something that the
Vice President will obviously have to address in the course of her campaign. Certainly. Kamala harris is the
Vice President , and she is also a candidate, so that is a very delicate balance, and when you are looking at who you sent out on the trail on your behalf, it is always about strategy. Where do people play best . And i can tell you, as a surrogate, the last thing you want to do is to harm a candidate. And i know that is the position that the president feels, he wants to go and say and do the things that will help strengthen her as a candidate, but as my mother often says, you only have to tell the truth once, and the truth is that this
White House has been very clear on its position, as it relates to any number of world affairs. And whether you agree or disagree with the biden harris administration, you can at least know and go to
Bed And Rest assured that there are people in the
White House making sane decisions, that they are getting information from the most competent leaders in national security, that they are being very thoughtful about the decisions that they are making. So, i suspect that when the president goes out, he is going to talk about how this administration has delivered two states, like pennsylvania, he is going to talk about the position that this administration has taken on any number of issues facing the globe. And he is going to own those positions, while also advocating for the
Vice President , who has been a leader, and who has had a seat at the table, when all of these discussions have taken place. You know, mayor, i just think as you were talking about the split screen, between
President Biden and
Vice President
Harris Campaigning tomorrow, to your point, folks who have been working diligently on a number of issues as it relates to our
Foreign Policy, but also domestic policy in an earnest way. I think if you disagree with i think people can have disagreements with the pieces of the policy, but i dont think one could argue that the president and
Vice President are earnest and sincere in what they are trying to do on behalf of
The American peoples diplomacy, and democracy worldwide. Just to close out with
Donald Trump, whom i dont think we have heard from this morning on the hostages, who were killed, let alone, specifically about the one american. But we heard from him a lot yesterday. And i mean, he has posted on truth social talking about the
Vice President lied about working at mcdonalds, saying she never worked there, and that he thinks shes nuts. This is just unbecoming of a commanderinchief to say the least. But also, these are the stakes. This is who is
On The Other side of this race. Yeah. And it is pretty frightening, symone, and this is who we are dealing with once again. This is a man, who doesnt take anything seriously, it appears, and even with a morning like this, the gravity of this morning, who knows what tangent he is on this morning, and i would imagine he cant imagine the
Vice President having worked at mcdonalds, because i would imagine he didnt work at mcdonalds. So, it just probably didnt resonate with him that that is what people do every day as young people. But i will just say, again, we have a choice between two very different candidates, and we have seen how
Donald Trump leads, we have seen what he cares about, what he doesnt care about. And as far as we can tell, he only cares about himself. And so, as we get into just a few weeks left into this campaign season, it will be important that we continue with this excitement that is great, but we also make sure that excitement turns into action, that we remind people about projects 2025, when
Donald Trump talks about making ivf free, well, what about projects 2025 that wants to do away, essentially, with ivf. So, we have to hold him accountable, remind people who he is, and especially in places, like georgia, where we have very thin margins, less than 12,000 votes deciding an election, reminding people that they have the power to make a difference in november. Keisha lance bottoms, thank you very much, it is very good to see you this morning. After the break, pennsylvania congresswoman, matta leaned in joins the conversation with
President Biden and harris get ready to head to look road for
Labor Day. And later, michigan senator,

Events Tomorrow in pittsburgh, pennsylvania. Nbc news reports say that democrats just launched a program to give voters personalized election information. Joining us now is democratic congresswoman,
Madeleine Dean of pennsylvania, good morning to you, man. Good morning, congresswoman, you know, this campaign has changed so much in such a little bit of time. I find it is now well positioned, the polling seems to be showing that kind of grassroots movement, you have got a lot of efforts underway out there. By individuals, to sort of all those threads together for the campaign. What are you seeing right now from your groundlevel view, and your district and with the members that you speak to about how that energy is being utilized and organizing and pushing the
Harriswalz Narrative out there. I know you have the president ,
Vice President doing this visit to your state. How does that, a, that is kind of cool right . It is right in the middle of
Labor Day, a jump off for the campaign, but how does all of this translate in terms of the vote . Because, at the end of the day, all of that energy is one thing, the vote is where the money comes in. That is the
Money Shot right there. Well, symone and michael, it is very good to be with you, but forgive me, i am eager to talk about pennsylvania on the importance of this election, but i have to begin with what you begin with. The devastating news of the brutal murder, by hamas of six hostages, one an israeli american. I am heartbroken. It is crushing. And i want to say their names, it is hersh, it is carmel, it is eaten, it is ori it is almog, it is alex. I have gotten to know rachel and john, the
Mother And Father of hersh. I spend time with them most recently 38 days ago, when the
Prime Minister came to address us in a joint session, and she and i talked about hersh. I told her that i had visited with the pope and pray for hersh and she told me that she met with the pope, they met with the pope and that the pope offered her some comfort, because he told her what they are dealing with is other inhumanity. For some reason that gave her some comfort to struggle through to this 330th day, since the brutal attack by hamas and the taking of hundreds of hostages. So, i just want to send my heart break out, my sympathies, my condolences, may god give them strength and may
All Of Us bring all of the rest home. Mr. Netanyahu, please focus on the deal, focus on a
Cease Fire, and this brutal suffering. We know hamas is responsible, but i am just heartbroken over the news today. Congresswoman, you know, it strikes me, this is it was horrific. It is just absolutely horrific, the entire saga, from
October 7th on has just been horrific for the families who are missing loved ones, for the families, who have now lost loved ones, for the, the devastated communities. Both in the
Gaza Strip and in israel. For the humanitarian crisis that is unfolding in the
Gaza Strip, most of the palestinian people. This this is not though just an issue that is happening, you know in
The Middle East, that doesnt affect folks happening here at home. So many communities across the board, from pennsylvania to michigan to many places in between, they are talking about this. I have to imagine your constituents are talking about this, and about what the candidates are saying they would do, will do, are going to do, and that has to affect what people how they are going to vote in november, are you hearing this in your district . Absolutely, and i appreciated it. Pennsylvania is going to be the keystone state. My constituents care about these issues. You are right, this is not isolated to
The Middle East or some faroff place. I have also met with the parents of itei, who is deceased, whose body has not been returned. What is going on
In Gaza now, with the polio vaccinations, think of the crude efforts to have small pauses in order to inoculate hundreds of thousands of children against polio. What worries me, symone, and what worries mike and the twins as they see the
Ratcheting Up of violence, what is happening in the west bank. There is a
Ratcheting Up of
Violence And America has played a central role in trying to bring that violence down. We have partners in the region, we have them, we need a full partnership. To turn to pennsylvania, pennsylvania is utterly my constituents are so excited about the future, about the possibility of having leaders, like
Kamala Harris, and tim
Walz And Senator casey, and more democratic members of congress, and more democratic members of our state legislature, because they represent the values of my constituents. They care about lifting everyone. So, pennsylvania will be crucial the president and
Vice President will be back in pittsburgh and they will be back to across this country. We are at a
Tipping Point of saving our own humanity. As you said, what happens in
The Middle East happens to
All Of Us. I always think of john donnes , no man is an island unto himself. Dont ask for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for the. This kelly, this suffering in
The Middle East tolls for the. It is our suffering, it is our joint suffering, and this campaign, the
Harriswalz Campaign get that. They care about the suffering of others. They will do everything in their diplomatic power to make sure the suffering around the world is deceased. Congresswoman,
Madeleine Dean of pennsylvania, thank you very much for being with us this morning. Next, folks, on the weekend, there are many things happening, like
Donald Trumps newest attempt to court black voters, using

Thigh Bone fractures have occurred. Building new bone. We dig it. Want stronger bones . Ask your doctor about
Building New Bone with evenity®. So so this morning is really kind of puts in stark
Relief And Context what you know, all the things we are dealing with, you know, we get caught up in the political
Horse Race and who is up, who is down, who is losing, who is winning come and six families this morning are have awoke into the loss at the hands of a terrorist organization, and it really, kind of puts in that relief for us, you know, why some of the things that we take for granted, like our campaign, talking about the leadership that is going to help us deal with issues like this in the future. These things matter, so i really appreciate the congresswoman, sort of focusing that part of the conversation the way she did. Yeah, and i mean, to me it really just underscores its like, do you do folks expect
Donald Trump to be a great negotiator in a crisis situation, like part of the reason that things i mean, look what he did in afghanistan. Because talk about it michael, because they want to say it was
Joe Biden and
Kamala Harris. Not
Joe Biden. Donald trump was trying to bring the taliban leaders. He was trying to bring the taliban leaders to camp david. He negotiated that
Release Plan , that
Exit Part of afghanistan. And why would you think this would be any different . Particularly, when he is aligned with protecting
Benjamin Netanyahu and
Benjamin Netanyahu is aligned with protecting him. And neither one it feels as though, we are not talking enough about the people, the israeli people. Thats right. The american people and
Donald Trump. And just you are right it puts in stark, stark stark contrast what is being dealt with, which is why
Donald Trumps comments, i think do deserve a real level of scrutiny. They do, because
It Shows i will let you go there, im going to set it up this way, because
It Shows you exactly what
Kamala Harris said, and what she meant, when she said he is unserious. He is not a serious person for these serious times, and america needs to come to grips with that, and i think that as you rightly note. We have enough stuff from him to show just how unserious years. You got some examples . I mean, i just the
Menthol Cigarettes . Oh lord. And i want to be very clear, lots of people have been talking about
Menthol Cigarettes lately, the naacp has a whole brief on the background on
Menthol Cigarettes, and they have a couple of recommendations the naacp talks about enacting
State Fans supporting
Tobacco Secession programs, because
Menthol Cigarettes are an issue, they are unhealthy, they are significant
Public Health concern. But
Donald Trump . While everything else is going on in the world,
Donald Trump got an at about
Menthol Cigarettes. Please play the ad. While you are focused on paying rent, buying groceries, putting gas in your car, washington democrats are coming after your
Menthol Cigarettes. Yeah, you heard that right, instead of solving the problems that matter to you,
Kamala Harris and dc democrats are coming after your
Menthol Cigarettes. Weve got bigger problems to deal with. And so do democrats. Tell democrats to focus on what matters, and stop trying to ban
Menthol Cigarettes. The naacp once
Menthol Cigarettes band, first of all this is what they dont they dont understand it is a public
Health Crisis led by
Public Health. That is important, but this is the part that rips my shorts more than anything else. Is the fact that they so ignorant to think that this ad is going to appeal to black people. Well and we are going to sit here along with those sheep excuse me cheap i apologize. Going to count. We apologize to the viewers. Those cigarettes it just doesnt work it doesnt work it is offensive but you are right, symone, this is what you go to our coming on air on the time and hamas just broke from
Donald Trump, no tweets, no nothing. But we got a menthol cigarette ad. And we have a lot to say during
Vice President harriss interview. We know how to live tweet. Folks, we feel the mug. We will get some update on
Breaking News with
Matt Bradley in
Tel Aviv. We will also talk to
Matt Bradley, david miller,
Eugene Daniels and congresswoman, debbie wasserman schultz. Our handle everywhere is at the weekend at msnbc. Much more ahead after this. When was the last time you checked in on your heart .
