We now of course have that to the republican and Democratic National convention n and right now they are telling a story that Vice President harris is doing significant the better than President Biden has been doing and that is comparatively good news for the democrats. They are, apparently better off now with harris as their candidate than they were before the switch. That said, in absolute terms, the National Polls and the swing state polls, broadly speaking dont really give either Party Something to celebrate and Vice President harris may be doing better than biden was against trump but it doesnt mean she is clearly winning and it is a tie between the two category candidates. It produces all sorts of interesting dynamics but when it is as close and a little difference can make a very interesting not only contrast but can make a big difference for the ultimate results and Trump Campaign is maneuvering to try to get them out of the one debate and he agreed to it with Kamala Harris and it is supposed to happen two weeks from now and trump himself is trying to get out of it. And overlaid the sound of him complaining with the sound of chickens clicking or clucking so they are baiting them about this and it seems they are trying to get him out of it and it is fascinating as they tried to get to the debate against harris. Also with the campaign events, they are getting weird and out of arizona, events a few days ago, there was a backstage camera angle that caught this on the teleprompter and as a Republican Senate candidate kari lake was speaking you see it says 535 meaning you are five minutes 35 seconds over your allotted time and then underneath it says please get off the stage. But then almost a minute later there is another shot where it says 6 23 so six minutes 23 seconds. And now the instructions they say get offstage with trump waiting. And this is the same event when trump got an endorsement from an Arizona Police union and while the Union President was making his pro trump remark and basically giving the endorsement, it seems like trump got bored or annoyed or crept up on the guy and was looming over his shoulder and frowning while he was speaking and at one point he leans in and tells the sky he needs to get lost and get off the stage. And the police union guy appears a little rattled by this and maybe startled and he quickly gets his stuff together and then awkwardly sneaks off because trump told him to get out. That is a nice way to receive an endorsement. This was on friday in arizona. Today, that same police Union Announced that they are endorsing the democratic u. S. Senate candidate the Guy Running Against Republican Kari Lake and that same police union is endorsing the u. S. Congress men in combat veteran ruben diego and they had already given trump his endorsement but that one couldnt be reeled back in and if this situation here, this was trump trying to turn on the charm and also get this unions endorsement for the Republican Senate candidate he was there to support. We all know how good he did this sharing the glory in the spot light. Get offstage, trump waiting. So when it is this close and essentially a tie, it is worth watching and even the small differences and the nuances between two campaigns because anything can be determined. Of course we will have some news about how democrats appear to have put North Carolina back on their own side of the electoral map and they hope to have an interesting story. And also as i mentioned when i spoke a moment ago i will show this hour tonight the very first clip we are releasing from a new movie about the first trump impeachment and you probably think you know all there is to know about trumps first impeachment. I think that story bizarrely ends up being not just entertaining in the way we told it i think at least for me but i think it is particularly relevant as trump is of course running for reelection. It is understandable in president ial Election Years that all eyes are on that top level contest between the two major parties and their president ial candidates. But in a president ial Election Year like this with just two months ago to go, may i suggest on you dont sleep on what is happening in the states and yes, watch the two major parties and the candidates and watch the two fight each other and the nuances of how they compete but watch the nuances in the states and what is happening because sometimes even in an Election Year what is happening in the states seems like it cant possibly be happening. For example, how is this for a local news lead this weekend in michigan. Things got off to an odd start at the Michigan RepublicanParty Convention in flint today. The former gop chair was escorted out of the event by police. It is an odd start. And even if this want the state Republican Party and one of the most important swing states in the country in a president ial Election Year, it does sound like an odd start for the Michigan Republican party state convention. The former michigan gop chair who was ousted from leadership made an appearance at the event but was removed. The new chair was greeted by some booth when he took the stage. We have had problems in this state party. Officials say she was asked to take a seat but refused and was also asked to leave but refused again which prompted Law Enforcement to get involved escorting her out of the building for causing a disruption and clogging up the floor. Causing a disruption and clogging out the floor and the detroit News Reporter was able to capture this view of the former state Republican Party chair being escorted out of the convention by police and it was followed by some pushing and shoving and maybe even a little punching. It is hard to tell exactly what is going on. But clearly something that isnt politics is happening here as police are called in to remove the convention and the woman who claims she still is the chair of the Michigan Republican party. She was elected in 2023, removed in January Of 2024 and then refused to go in february and a Michigan Court ruled she had to go and she was still trying to get courts to reinstate her as the Michigan Party chairman and as of this week and the cops were called and to get her out of the floor of the state Party Convention. That i mentioned this is one of the most important states in the country for the president ial race and we are two months off from the president ial election and the state chairman is almost booed off the stage as he tried to convene the state convention and the person who claims she is still the real party chair is escorted by police and it has been months now that in the Michigan StateRepublican Party they have been calling the cops on each other and getting fistfights after the official Republican Party. And we pay so much attention to how the two parties campaigns are doing competing against each other in various polls and worth noticing when things are absolutely bananas with one of the parties in those states and it is not only happening in one state and not long after the Michigan Republican party went to war with itself and ousted its chair and she refused to go and she took them to court and nobody knew who was running the place, not long after that a version of that happened in florida right after michigan throughout their state Republican Party chair and florida throughout theirs as well following news reports he was being investigated by police for allegations of rape. Police said they were investigating him for video voya zero some Voyeurism Charges for doing that without consent and the florida Republican Party threw it out and they had several charges in those investigations. But then right on the heels of that, the state of arizona lost their chair as well in the same Senate Candidate who awkwardly appeared with trump this weekend, kari lake, she released secretly recorded audio tapes of the Arizona State republican chairman in which she said he was trying to bribe her to leave the senate race and reportedly threatened to release more tapes of him and quit as the Arizona StateRepublican Party chairman. Right on the heels of that, the national Republican Party lost its chair and pushed out or residing in order to make room for Donald Trumps daughterin law with her experience for the job including being a finger in addition to being married to one of trumps sons, the blonde one. That seemed like a totally legitimate noncontroversial choice for the leadership of the national Republican Party and so mcdaniel had to go. But all of that is happening just this year in 2024. It is only august. Michigan, florida, arizona, the national Republican Party, they all lost their top leadership under embarrassing, if not terrible circumstances. All in a crucial Election Year. It is happened again and this time it happened in colorado. We start tonight with big news in colorado politics. Estates Republican Party chairman is out and Party Leaders were voted out of leadership of the colorado gop today and those leaders said they considered to this meeting and vote fake with the meeting starting at noon and still going. Right now the Republican Party members are now voting on who will now lead the state party. Our reporter has been there all day. Reporter it is 2 1 2 months until election day and colorado Republican Party members are still fighting their own leaders. For those who dont change in the middle of a race, that is a valid argument unless of course the rider mac is trying to kill the horse. That was this weekend as colorado Republican Party officials met to vote out there state Party Chairman and they said was destroying the party but for his part a little bit like it happened in michigan the Republican Party chair and colorado is refusing to recognize the validity of the vote to remove him because of course he is. He said the meeting this saturday in brighton, colorado where they voted to fire him was a sham and illegitimate and the legal. As of sunday the day after they voted to fire him he leased had custody of the letterhead on which to release the statement that said his firing was a sham and somehow he is still in charge. Maybe possession is 9 10 of the law and maybe he would still be chairman if he still possessed some letterhead that had your name on it. I dont know. I mean, who knows. One person who says she is still the chair of the Republican Party in michigan was escorted out of that state parties convention by cops this weekend while this flu and another person who said he is still the chair of the Republican Party in colorado was voted out by the other republicans but said that vote doesnt count and has the letterhead to prove it and said he is the chair and then they will see who is really in charge. Doesnt it seem like a good idea to put those folks in that party in charge of the whole country . And then there is georgia. For a few weeks now, we have been covering sort of increasingly astonishing astonishing stories about what is happening, not just to politics broadly but specifically to the Election System in georgia. One of the things that has happened over the last four years since trump tried to overturn the elections in 2020 is the Republican Party has installed Election Officials in counties and states all across the country who not only parrot trumps idea about the 2020 election not being stolen, but they have started doing what they wanted Election Officials to do for him in 2020, refusing to certify Election Results. Now, they have done this in a number of states or around the country in some blue and red and swing states but they have done this more often than any other state in the country, and its georgia. Georgia, you recall is a state where trump was indicted for multiple felonies under state law including a rico charge for his efforts to try to overthrow results in 2020 to get george officials to declare he is the winner even though he lost the state. Republicans are now trying again to block the certification of Election Results everywhere but they have been trying it most aggressively in georgia. Over the last few weeks and alarming situation has emerged because there is a newly appointed Pro Trump Majority on the official Georgia StateElection Board. Recent the they passed a flurry of new rules that purport to legalize some of these practices or purport to empower local Election Officials to actually do this stuff, to block the certification of the vote or delay the certification of the vote. And the State Election Board is apparently planning to do much more of this even as we get closer and closer to the election date. The Washington Post reported that the Election Board Plans to adopt nearly a dozen additional rules beyond the new ones they just put into effect in the over coming weeks and despite warnings from state and local officials that the lateness of the calendar all but guarantees confusion in the states. I think part of understanding the importance of this tactic is that confusion in the states is probably the point. It is one thing to say we want the right to flip an electric Election Result but its another thing to say we want the right and claim the right to essentially report there is no result or any discernible result but a big question about it and it seems like there is a cloud over the result. If you cannot just flip the result but not directly flip it but instead create a sense that there is some confusion or lack of clarity and something wrong with the way the election is conducted. So the results isnt organically and clearly emerging. That can justify doing all sorts of extraordinary strange things to come up with what purports to be an Election Result. I will be honest. I have found that these actions by the State Election Board in georgia have just been jaw dropping. I have been covering this kind of stuff for a long time and i have been covering versions of different types of these things not just in the trump era but republicans and all sorts of elections. But i have never really seen what happened with this Georgia StateElection Board in recent weeks. This isnt the Trump Campaign making crazy claims or advocating they do crazy stuff. This is actually the state, the official Election Board that sets the rules for how elections are handled in georgia and not just discussing crazy things but passing these rules that are Rudy Giuliani hair dye dripping down the face crazy and they are not just asking somebody else to do crazy stuff related to the election but they are the elections board and are doing it.
