going well. i had no idea how bad it was. you know, when you listen to the evidence, you listen to everything that hunter went through, how is he still alive? you know. it was scary. >> imagine being a juror in a high-profile case with political implications and not being terrified of being doxed or physically threatened by the defendant's cultish fans and feeling free to talk about the verdict. huh. late today, hunter biden received a comforting hug from his dad, the president of the united states. on a day that provided very clear evidence that the justice system is not weaponized. also tonight, the fallout from the alito tapes. democrats control the senate, so when can we look forward to hearings on supreme court ethics and political bias? but we begin tonight with justice for all. an ideal enshrined in the motto on the department of justice seal. in latin, roughly, he who takes legal action on behalf of lady justice. the phrase expresses the ideal of a system of justice in which every american is equal before the law. but if you ask maga republicans, that entire system, state and federal, has been weaponized entirely against one man. >> last week's verdict in new york shows how corrupt, rigged, and un-american the weaponized justice system has become under joe biden and democrats. >> it's impossible for anybody to deny that looks at this objectively that the judicial system in our country has been weaponized against president trump. >> this is a justice system that hunts republicans while protecting democrats. this was certainly a hoax, a sham. >> the conspiracy calls have become so loud and repetitive that attorney general merrick garland felt the need to speak out today and rebuke the resulting threats against the doj and the public servants who serve there. in a "washington post" op-ed, garland wrote, these heinous threats of violence have become routine, in an environment in which the justice department is under attack like never before. garland specifically mentioned attacks on the special counsel's prosecution of donald trump. he could have easily included the state prosecutors, judges, and anyone else involved in any way in holding donald trump accountable for his alleged crimes as well as their families who faced vicious threats from maga fans. but that's not in merrick garland's purview because he doesn't supervise state prosecutions. in defense of those federal prosecutors he added, we will not be intimidated by these attacks. but it is absurd and dangerous that public servants, many of whom risk their lives every day are being threatened for simply doing their jobs and adhering to the principles that have long guided the justice department's work. and speaking of that work, all of this is taking place as a jury today found hunter biden guilty on all counts in his federal trial. tied to his purchase and possessionf a gun while using drugs. like trump, he faces potential jail time. so let's take a moment to unpack how ironic this is given all the huffing and puffing from the right. irony number one involves taking a look at how different the trials of donald trump in new york and hunter biden in delaware played out. and who was present for them. hunter biden was surrounded at his federal trial by loved ones including his mom, first lady jill biden, during his trial, she was there nearly every day. showing him love and support. trump during his state trial was mainly surrounded by his federal political surrogates who even cosplayed in their best trump look alike outfits while launching the vicious attacks that trump was barred by a gag order from hurling at the judge, his daughter, and the jury. melania never showed. and the two times trump's sons don jr. and eric showed up, they used their rare appearances to join in the attacks. the right praised those attacks, thought they were awesome. take a look at how they portrayed the first lady showing support for her son. >> what message is the white house sending having jill biden walk into the courtroom? >> typically if someone sits there during jury selection it's because they're sending a message. they want the jurors to look at you to say look, here we are. this is a big deal. >> you have jill biden at the trial. but she wasn't just at the trial. she was at the selection of the jury. and i can't help but think she was there trying to send a message. i'm here, she's got her arms around the family members. then you have kind of the mob mentality, we know who you are. we're in the courtroom and we're watching you. >> yes, so scary having his mom there. irony number two is that hunter's case reinvolves around gun restriction. the right doesn't believe in any restriction on gun ownership. republicans are looking to arm teachers. they have authorized guns to be brought into mental institutions in texas. and they want people as young as 18 to be allowed to handle ar-15s, even though those are the weapons of choice for mass shooters. even as we speak, we're awaiting a decision by the supreme court that could allow domestic abusers to have access to firearms. but in this case, the silence from the gun worshiping right defending hunter's right to bear arms for a gun he had in his possession for all of 11 days is deafening. and irony number three, i think is the biggest one, the right says the doj is weaponized against trump. that's kind of hard to see given today's verdict. in fact, it shows that the justice department has no problem prosecuting the son of a sitting president. in fact, one could argue hunter biden is being treated worse than your average citizen given how rare a charge like this is. this also marks the first time an immediate family member of a president has been found guilty of a crime during his time in office. we should also note the speed of this case. unlike trump, there were no long delays. hunter biden could do nothing to stop this trial from moving forward, nor his next one for failing to pay a million dollars in taxes that he's already repaid. and the reality is that hunter biden is likely going to face the full gamut of consequences for being a felon, including trouble getting passport, challenges in getting loans, needing to check that felon box when filling out a job application, none of which will likely happen to felon donald trump. who unlike hunter is wrapped in the protective cloak of a former president, and presidential nominee. and who also happens to lead an upside down american flag cult that includes members in congress and apparently even on the highest court in the land. joining me now is jared moskowitz of florida, former republican congressman denver riggleman who served as a senior adviser to the january 6th select committee, and paul butler, msnbc legal analyst. i'm going to thank the member and former member of congress and turn to my friend here at the table, paul butler. did i get anything wrong about hunter biden's prospects because he like donald trump is now a former felon? >> that's exactly right. the president has made it clear that he will -- his son will have to follow all of the rules and procedures of everyone else who is convicted of a felony, unlike donald trump, again, donald trump was convicted in a state system, not a federal system. but apparently, when he went for his interview with the probation officer, he wasn't required to take a drug test, which is required of everybody who is convicted of a crime in new york who is subject to probation. so different treatment for donald trump. the president's son, hunter biden, not being treated the same as everyone else, in many ways being treated worse. this crime that he's convicted of rarely prosecuted unless the gun was used for a violent crime. in this case, it wasn't. he had for 11 days, ten of those days it was in a locked box. it was never loaded. again, the reason that hunter biden is being prosecuted is because he's the son of the president. >> i think that's clear, jared moskowitz. it feels like the justice department and the attorney general went out of their way to get out of the way of this prosecution, which was brought by a holdover from the trump doj. and you know, the president said he won't touch it. he said he's not going to pardon his son, and it seems merrick garland let it go through. how can the justice department be weaponized against trump when all that is happening. >> that's right. first, thanks for having me. he had a republican prosecutor that was handling the case. this had nothing to do with merrick garland or joe biden. in fact, he's been found guilty. the idea that you now see my colleagues across the aisle trying to say this is all part of the plan, i mean, this sounds ridiculous. there is something that did or did not happen, joy, in this case. you didn't see members of congress going to the courthouse, standing with hunter, you know, in their men's warehouse suits holding press conferences. no democrat has called to defund the fbi or defund the doj. no democrat is calling for civil war as a result. no, democrats stand for the rule of law. remember, law and order. and we have been saying that trump's not above the law. hunter biden is not above the law. no one is above the law, and it's amazing to see the stark contrast between how democrats handled today and how republicans handled this whole thing over the last couple weeks. >> yeah, absolutely. i mean, the ugliness of it, the threats against even the jurors trying to dox the jurors. it's a very different tone, denver, the other thing that i feel like is missing, and this is something that we have talked a little bit about on the show, and i think you're an especially important person to talk about it with, is this the lack of sort of decency on the republican side here, because you have in the case of hunter biden somebody who is obviously had deep troubles, problems with drugs, problems in his life. he comes from a background that's full of tragedy, and yet here's his family surrounding him with love. president biden's statement is actually quite kind and it's very fatherly and sweet. he says as i said last week, i'm the president, but i'm also a dad. jill and i love our son, and we're so proud of the man he is today. so many families who have loved ones battle addiction understand the feeling of pride seeing someone you love come out of the other side, come out on the other side and be so strong and resilient in recovery. as i said last week, i will accept the outcome of this case and will continue to respect the judicial process as hunter considers an appeal. jill and i will always be there for hunter, and the rest of our family with our love and support. nothing will ever change that. i can't even imagine donald trump saying that about any of his children, his family. that is actually loving your kid. i don't understand why republicans don't even have compassion for that. >> i don't either. i think what's so damaging about it is that there's the first thing is this, that they have the conspiracy theories coming out, jared already talked about it. and jared is going to probably be horrified by this, but i do shop at men's warehouse sometimes. and the other thing about this that's sort of nuts is the awfulness about addiction. i was in congress when i lost my cousin two blocks away to an overdose. i had two very close family members die, transient drug use, but also doing some just some awful things when it comes to drugs. i remember if you're there watching somebody die or you're there and get the phone call that somebody dies from addiction, that is absolutely brutal. the fact people are treating hunter like this really speaks to what the far right is doing. but the other thing that's even just as bad is this conspiracy theories coming out and jared actually alluded to it, that the guilty trial or the guilty verdict for hunter was actually a fig leaf to actually cover up the real crimes of joe biden and hunter biden, which is on its face completely ludicrous, and by the way, you're part of the corporate globalist media that is coordinating with the biden campaign, just letting you know what's happening. he's the embodiment of the rule of law, and this is a conspiracy and the verdict was a part of a plan all along. this is insane. it's just incredible that we're going through this right now in our american system. >> let's play tom cotton, when the word comes up, generally for whatever reason i think of him. here's tom cotton giving that very conspiracy theory life. >> if he was weaponizing the justice department, wouldn't he want to keep any case away from his own son? >> he was forced, his own justice department tried to rig a settlement. they were forced by a judge asking questions of the prosecutor and hunter biden's defense attorneys who colluded -- >> why wouldn't he weaponize it against his own son by your argument? >> because he is going to pardon his own son after the election. that's what you should ask joe biden, do you commit to not pardon hunter biden after the election. >> will you accept the jury's outcome, no matter what it is? >> yes. >> and have you ruled out a pardon for your son. >> yes. >> you have that, congressman, you have elise stefanik saying the facts are clear, this was a zombie case illegally brought forward blah blah blah. they're going out of their way, congressman moskovitz, to pretend that a guilty verdict in a case that would never have been brought if his last name wasn't biden is a conspiracy as denver riggleman said. >> the republicans don't know which joe biden to sell to the people. at the beginning of the week, he's got dementia, by the end of the week, he's a mastermind along with his son and merrick garland and they're trying to put hunter biden in jail as a secret plot to win the election because that's how good joe biden is. this is the lunacy we have to deal with here in congress. it's just completely disjointed and out of touch with the american people, which is why quite frankly the american people don't care about this hunter biden thing. even though i have to sit day in and day out in these hearings and oversight committee and listen to them parading witnesses, some of them dealing with folks that worked as a foreign agent for china or were some witnesses that were indicted by the department of justice. this is what james comer has tried to sell to the american people on this committee. look, the 118th congress has been a mess, unfortunately, they have used hunter as a way to try to hurt joe biden. it has not worked. look, i feel bad for hunter biden. he's someone obviously who suffered from mental illness. he's going to have to deal with the mistakes he made, but joe biden is a dad, and joe biden has said look, i'm the president, but i'm also hunter biden's father. in fact, quite frankly, i think through all the hearings we had and all the money republicans have spent on hunter biden, i think the only thing they have proven quite frankly is that hunter biden is the son of joe biden. i think that's proven. >> and you know, the thing is, i have to say, there is an attitude toward drug addiction in this country that is very contradictory. there are a lot of americans who suffer from drug addiction. we just heard denver talk about a family member, losing a family member to it. this country has criminalized drug addiction. in this case, one of the things that was the most gross is that the prosecution used his book in which he admitted to his drug addiction and to the challenges he faced and played those tapes over and over. it's open and shut, a documents case like the trump one. but it is this sort of need to humiliate hunter biden, who is not running for president. who is not a threat to them. he's just a guy fighting a thing. >> that's exactly right. so they immunize his ex-wife and one of his former romantic partners to force them to come and testify against hunter. they tried this, joy, way more like a drug case, although they insisted that it was a gun case. but they went full stop, all those fbi agents, all of those atf agents. again, prosecuting a case that normally wouldn't even be brought, fewer than 300 prosecutions last year for this, and again, most of those tied to violent crime. >> and denver, the next case is going to be a million dollars in unpaid taxes. the trump doj made a deal with somebody who had $39 million in unpaid taxes, and pleaded it out to a misdemeanor. that and the hypocrisy on guns. apparently we have discovered the exception to the second amendment. it's called hunter biden. apparently everyone is supposed to have a gun including people who are walking into a mental institution in texas, everyone in america including children and teachers must have guns, but the exception is hunter biden. he's the only one who they hate when he has guns. >> well, i was waiting for the second amendment rallies outside of the hunter biden trial, joy. i was looking around, where is the nra sponsored rallies? what's going on there? i know a little bit about these cases as you know, and i think with the tax case, i think it's going to be a little difficult, more complex than the gun case, to be honest. but i do think there's going to be an appeal on the gun case. we know what's in the data. i think abbe lowell is pretty good at what he does. i think it's going to happen. i think when you look at tom cotton f i could end with this, i don't know if they're passing out glue capsules in the republican conference meetings but when jared identified the hypocrisy, i think that's what we need to look at, the conspiracy theorist, the strength of conspiracy theories is the inconsistencies because they like to hit people, and i think right now, the far right is amygdala driven. >> well said. thank you all. up next on "the reidout," with the recordings of justice samuel alito coming to light, it's never been more clear the supreme court has a major ethics issue that they seem unwilling to correct. will the united states senate hold hearings and hold them accountable? does the administration folks live in a sealed room where they're not hearing what's going on? i don't think so. i think what's going on is the administration is not willing to use the leverage that it has with israel, which could impact netanyahu's calculation. right now, he has a domestic coalition problem if he goes for the deal, and on the other side, he has an administration which consistently rolls over. if the administration no longer rolls over, it's game on. but the administration is not willing to do that. and therefore, it leads us down this path of sad to say dishonesty. >> where does that -- where do you think it will leave us when netanyahu comes and gets the honor of addressing our congress? going well. i had no idea how bad it was. you know, when you listen to the evidence, you listen to everything that hunter went through, how is he still alive? you know. it was scary. >> imagine being a juror in a high-profile case with political implications and not being terrified of being doxed or physically threatened by the defendant's cultish fans and feeling free to talk about the verdict. huh. late today, hunter biden received a comforting hug from his dad, the president of the united states. on a day that provided very clear evidence that the justice system is not weaponized. also tonight, the fallout from the alito tapes. democrats control the senate, so when can we look forward to hearings on supreme court ethics and political bias? but we begin tonight with justice for all. an ideal enshrined in the motto on the department of justice seal. in latin, roughly, he who takes legal action on behalf of lady justice. the phrase expresses the ideal of a system of justice in which every american is equal before the law. but if you ask maga republicans, that entire system, state and federal, has been weaponized entirely against one man. >> last week's verdict in new york shows how corrupt, rigged, and un-american the weaponized justice system has become under joe biden and democrats. >> it's impossible for anybody to deny that looks at this objectively that the judicial system in our country has been weaponized against president trump. >> this is a justice system that hunts republicans while protecting democrats. this was certainly a hoax, a sham. >> the conspiracy calls have become so loud and repetitive that attorney general merrick garland felt the need to speak out today and rebuke the resulting threats against the doj and the public servants who serve there. in a "washington post" op-ed, garland wrote, these heinous threats of violence have become routine, in an environment in which the justice department is under attack like never before. garland specifically mentioned attacks on the special counsel's prosecution of donald trump. he could have easily included the state prosecutors, judges, and anyone else involved in any way in holding donald trump accountable for his alleged crimes as well as their families who faced vicious threats from maga fans. but that's not in merrick garland's purview because he doesn't supervise state prosecutions. in defense of those federal prosecutors he added, we will not be intimidated by these attacks. but it is absurd and dangerous that public servants, many of whom risk their lives every day are being threatened for simply doing their jobs and adhering to the principles that have long guided the justice department's work. and speaking of that work, all of this is taking place as a jury today found hunter biden guilty on all counts in his federal trial. tied to his purchase and possessionf a gun while using drugs. like trump, he faces potential jail time. so let's take a moment to unpack how ironic this is given all the huffing and puffing from the right. irony number one involves taking a look at how different the trials of donald trump in new york and hunter biden in delaware played out. and who was present for them. hunter biden was surrounded at his federal trial by loved ones including his mom, first lady jill biden, during his trial, she was there nearly every day. showing him love and support. trump during his state trial was mainly surrounded by his federal political surrogates who even cosplayed in their best trump look alike outfits while launching the vicious attacks that trump was barred by a gag order from hurling at the judge, his daughter, and the jury. melania never showed. and the two times trump's sons don jr. and eric showed up, they used their rare appearances to join in the attacks. the right praised those attacks, thought they were awesome. take a look at how they portrayed the first lady showing support for her son. >> what message is the white house sending having jill biden walk into the courtroom? >> typically if someone sits there during jury selection it's because they're sending a message. they want the jurors to look at you to say look, here we are. this is a big deal. >> you have jill biden at the trial. but she wasn't just at the trial. she was at the selection of the jury. and i can't help but think she was there trying to send a message. i'm here, she's got her arms around the family members. then you have kind of the mob mentality, we know who you are. we're in the courtroom and we're watching you. >> yes, so scary having his mom there. irony number two is that hunter's case reinvolves around gun restriction. the right doesn't believe in any restriction on gun ownership. republicans are looking to arm teachers. they have authorized guns to be brought into mental institutions in texas. and they want people as young as 18 to be allowed to handle ar-15s, even though those are the weapons of choice for mass shooters. even as we speak, we're awaiting a decision by the supreme court that could allow domestic abusers to have access to firearms. but in this case, the silence from the gun worshiping right defending hunter's right to bear arms for a gun he had in his possession for all of 11 days is deafening. and irony number three, i think is the biggest one, the right says the doj is weaponized against trump. that's kind of hard to see given today's verdict. in fact, it shows that the justice department has no problem prosecuting the son of a sitting president. in fact, one could argue hunter biden is being treated worse than your average citizen given how rare a charge like this is. this also marks the first time an immediate family member of a president has been found guilty of a crime during his time in office. we should also note the speed of this case. unlike trump, there were no long delays. hunter biden could do nothing to stop this trial from moving forward, nor his next one for failing to pay a million dollars in taxes that he's already repaid. and the reality is that hunter biden is likely going to face the full gamut of consequences for being a felon, including trouble getting passport, challenges in getting loans, needing to check that felon box when filling out a job application, none of which will likely happen to felon donald trump. who unlike hunter is wrapped in the protective cloak of a former president, and presidential nominee. and who also happens to lead an upside down american flag cult that includes members in congress and apparently even on the highest court in the land. joining me now is jared moskowitz of florida, former republican congressman denver riggleman who served as a senior adviser to the january 6th select committee, and paul butler, msnbc legal analyst. i'm going to thank the member and former member of congress and turn to my friend here at the table, paul butler. did i get anything wrong about hunter biden's prospects because he like donald trump is now a former felon? >> that's exactly right. the president has made it clear that he will -- his son will have to follow all of the rules and procedures of everyone else who is convicted of a felony, unlike donald trump, again, donald trump was convicted in a state system, not a federal system. but apparently, when he went for his interview with the probation officer, he wasn't required to take a drug test, which is required of everybody who is convicted of a crime in new york who is subject to probation. so different treatment for donald trump. the president's son, hunter biden, not being treated the same as everyone else, in many ways being treated worse. this crime that he's convicted of rarely prosecuted unless the gun was used for a violent crime. in this case, it wasn't. he had for 11 days, ten of those days it was in a locked box. it was never loaded. again, the reason that hunter biden is being prosecuted is because he's the son of the president. >> i think that's clear, jared moskowitz. it feels like the justice department and the attorney general went out of their way to get out of the way of this prosecution, which was brought by a holdover from the trump doj. and you know, the president said he won't touch it. he said he's not going to pardon his son, and it seems merrick garland let it go through. how can the justice department be weaponized against trump when all that is happening. >> that's right. first, thanks for having me. he had a republican prosecutor that was handling the case. this had nothing to do with merrick garland or joe biden. in fact, he's been found guilty. the idea that you now see my colleagues across the aisle trying to say this is all part of the plan, i mean, this sounds ridiculous. there is something that did or did not happen, joy, in this case. you didn't see members of congress going to the courthouse, standing with hunter, you know, in their men's warehouse suits holding press conferences. no democrat has called to defund the fbi or defund the doj. no democrat is calling for civil war as a result. no, democrats stand for the rule of law. remember, law and order. and we have been saying that trump's not above the law. hunter biden is not above the law. no one is above the law, and it's amazing to see the stark contrast between how democrats handled today and how republicans handled this whole thing over the last couple weeks. >> yeah, absolutely. i mean, the ugliness of it, the threats against even the jurors trying to dox the jurors. it's a very different tone, denver, the other thing that i feel like is missing, and this is something that we have talked a little bit about on the show, and i think you're an especially important person to talk about it with, is this the lack of sort of decency on the republican side here, because you have in the case of hunter biden somebody who is obviously had deep troubles, problems with drugs, problems in his life. he comes from a background that's full of tragedy, and yet here's his family surrounding him with love. president biden's statement is actually quite kind and it's very fatherly and sweet. he says as i said last week, i'm the president, but i'm also a dad. jill and i love our son, and we're so proud of the man he is today. so many families who have loved ones battle addiction understand the feeling of pride seeing someone you love come out of the other side, come out on the other side and be so strong and resilient in recovery. as i said last week, i will accept the outcome of this case and will continue to respect the judicial process as hunter considers an appeal. jill and i will always be there for hunter, and the rest of our family with our love and support. nothing will ever change that. i can't even imagine donald trump saying that about any of his children, his family. that is actually loving your kid. i don't understand why republicans don't even have compassion for that. >> i don't either. i think what's so damaging about it is that there's the first thing is this, that they have the conspiracy theories coming out, jared already talked about it. and jared is going to probably be horrified by this, but i do shop at men's warehouse sometimes. and the other thing about this that's sort of nuts is the awfulness about addiction. i was in congress when i lost my cousin two blocks away to an overdose. i had two very close family members die, transient drug use, but also doing some just some awful things when it comes to drugs. i remember if you're there watching somebody die or you're there and get the phone call that somebody dies from addiction, that is absolutely brutal. the fact people are treating hunter like this really speaks to what the far right is doing. but the other thing that's even just as bad is this conspiracy theories coming out and jared actually alluded to it, that the guilty trial or the guilty verdict for hunter was actually a fig leaf to actually cover up the real crimes of joe biden and hunter biden, which is on its face completely ludicrous, and by the way, you're part of the corporate globalist media that is coordinating with the biden campaign, just letting you know what's happening. he's the embodiment of the rule of law, and this is a conspiracy and the verdict was a part of a plan all along. this is insane. it's just incredible that we're going through this right now in our american system. >> let's play tom cotton, when the word comes up, generally for whatever reason i think of him. here's tom cotton giving that very conspiracy theory life. >> if he was weaponizing the justice department, wouldn't he want to keep any case away from his own son? >> he was forced, his own justice department tried to rig a settlement. they were forced by a judge asking questions of the prosecutor and hunter biden's defense attorneys who colluded -- >> why wouldn't he weaponize it against his own son by your argument? >> because he is going to pardon his own son after the election. that's what you should ask joe biden, do you commit to not pardon hunter biden after the election. >> will you accept the jury's outcome, no matter what it is? >> yes. >> and have you ruled out a pardon for your son. >> yes. >> you have that, congressman, you have elise stefanik saying the facts are clear, this was a zombie case illegally brought forward blah blah blah. they're going out of their way, congressman moskovitz, to pretend that a guilty verdict in a case that would never have been brought if his last name wasn't biden is a conspiracy as denver riggleman said. >> the republicans don't know which joe biden to sell to the people. at the beginning of the week, he's got dementia, by the end of the week, he's a mastermind along with his son and merrick garland and they're trying to put hunter biden in jail as a secret plot to win the election because that's how good joe biden is. this is the lunacy we have to deal with here in congress. it's just completely disjointed and out of touch with the american people, which is why quite frankly the american people don't care about this hunter biden thing. even though i have to sit day in and day out in these hearings and oversight committee and listen to them parading witnesses, some of them dealing with folks that worked as a foreign agent for china or were some witnesses that were indicted by the department of justice. this is what james comer has tried to sell to the american people on this committee. look, the 118th congress has been a mess, unfortunately, they have used hunter as a way to try to hurt joe biden. it has not worked. look, i feel bad for hunter biden. he's someone obviously who suffered from mental illness. he's going to have to deal with the mistakes he made, but joe biden is a dad, and joe biden has said look, i'm the president, but i'm also hunter biden's father. in fact, quite frankly, i think through all the hearings we had and all the money republicans have spent on hunter biden, i think the only thing they have proven quite frankly is that hunter biden is the son of joe biden. i think that's proven. >> and you know, the thing is, i have to say, there is an attitude toward drug addiction in this country that is very contradictory. there are a lot of americans who suffer from drug addiction. we just heard denver talk about a family member, losing a family member to it. this country has criminalized drug addiction. in this case, one of the things that was the most gross is that the prosecution used his book in which he admitted to his drug addiction and to the challenges he faced and played those tapes over and over. it's open and shut, a documents case like the trump one. but it is this sort of need to humiliate hunter biden, who is not running for president. who is not a threat to them. he's just a guy fighting a thing. >> that's exactly right. so they immunize his ex-wife and one of his former romantic partners to force them to come and testify against hunter. they tried this, joy, way more like a drug case, although they insisted that it was a gun case. but they went full stop, all those fbi agents, all of those atf agents. again, prosecuting a case that normally wouldn't even be brought, fewer than 300 prosecutions last year for this, and again, most of those tied to violent crime. >> and denver, the next case is going to be a million dollars in unpaid taxes. the trump doj made a deal with somebody who had $39 million in unpaid taxes, and pleaded it out to a misdemeanor. that and the hypocrisy on guns. apparently we have discovered the exception to the second amendment. it's called hunter biden. apparently everyone is supposed to have a gun including people who are walking into a mental institution in texas, everyone in america including children and teachers must have guns, but the exception is hunter biden. he's the only one who they hate when he has guns. >> well, i was waiting for the second amendment rallies outside of the hunter biden trial, joy. i was looking around, where is the nra sponsored rallies? what's going on there? i know a little bit about these cases as you know, and i think with the tax case, i think it's going to be a little difficult, more complex than the gun case, to be honest. but i do think there's going to be an appeal on the gun case. we know what's in the data. i think abbe lowell is pretty good at what he does. i think it's going to happen. i think when you look at tom cotton f i could end with this, i don't know if they're passing out glue capsules in the republican conference meetings but when jared identified the hypocrisy, i think that's what we need to look at, the conspiracy theorist, the strength of conspiracy theories is the inconsistencies because they like to hit people, and i think right now, the far right is amygdala driven. >> well said. thank you all. up next on does the administration folks live in a sealed room where they're not hearing what's going on? i don't think so. i think what's going on is the administration is not willing to use the leverage that it has with israel, which could impact netanyahu's calculation. right now, he has a domestic coalition problem if he goes for the deal, and on the other side, he has an administration which consistently rolls over. if the administration no longer rolls over, it's game on. but the administration is not willing to do that. and therefore, it leads us down this path of sad to say dishonesty. >> where does that -- where do you think it will leave us when netanyahu comes and gets the honor of addressing our congress? (♪♪) kayak. no way. why would i use kayak to compare ahundreds of travel sites att fonce?u. kayak. i like to do things myself i do my own searching. it isn't efficient. use kayak. i can't trust anything else to do the job right. aaaaaaaahhhh! kayak. search one and done. choose advil liqui-gels for faster, stronger and longer-lasting relief than tylenol rapid release gels because advil targets pain at the source of inflammation. so for faster pain relief, advil the pain away. there have been several polls where voters say not only is the economy one of the top issues the selection, but they also trust donald trump over president biden when it comes to handling it. which is strange considering how well the u.s. economy is doing right now. the world bank said the global economy is in better shape than it was at the start of the year and that is largely in thanks to the performance of the united states. it comes as the biden administration today moves to ban medical debt from credit reports which could help many americans own a home or by a car. just another example of something biden is doing that actually makes a difference in people's lives, especially working and middle-class americans. including pressuring retailers like target, walmart, and amazon to cut prices. canceling student loan debt for millions of people, most of them public service workers. and unions which have seen record wins over the last year. compare that to donald trump's proposed economic agenda if elect it again, which the new york times reports could be disastrous. trump says he plans the largest domestic deportation in american history, which would most likely increase the cost of labor. he plans to impose a new tariff on all imported goods, which would probably raise prices and those of domestic competitors. besides that, trump has been passing that to his supporters, promising to extend his monster 2017 tax-cut, 80% of which went to the rich and corporations and which is set to expire next year in exchange for donations to his campaign. like clockwork, wall street is blocking to him in droves. he is also trying to take advantage of trump amnesia by lying, like this weekend when he claimed it was he that reduced the cost of insulin. wrong, it was the inflation reduction act that capped insulin prices at $35 for seniors, which joe biden signed into law and trump said he wants to repeal if elected again, along with obamacare, of course. the funny thing is, trump is using this approach to try to appeal to latino voters, while at the same time promising to bring to america the political style and economic policies of the strongmen leaders of places like argentina and venezuela, which have some of the highest inflation rates in the world right now. make it make sense. tomorrow is set to be a big day for economic news. we will get a new inflation report in the morning and the fed will give an update on interest rates in the afternoon. so is rachel maddow would say, watch this space. and that is tonight's "reidout". you can follow me on tiktok and instagram and follow our show accounts on instagram and tick tock.
