>> yes it was clear that donald trump was shifting to the general election message. he spoketi for almost two hours. and donald trump's remarks can be erratic without a clear transition many he brought it up in true trump fashion he said only a genius could connect the dots. so there was a lot of fresh new soundbytes we got. most were criticisms of president biden and most were not substantive policy criticisms they were personal attacks. we were waiting to hear how you spoke about the state of the union address and we heard about that. take a quick listen to that. >> two nights to go we heard cooked joe's hate-filled rant of a state of the union address, didn't it bring us together. bring the country together. i will bring it doing. all you had to do was watch the horrible state of the union the worst president in history making the worst state of the union speech in history. >> so he made fub of his publicly known thing and then trump character ridesed biden's speech as angry and hate-filled. >> okay. we'll leave it there thank you jake, we'll see you again. and breaking news this in the israel-hamas war. president biden saying he is hopeful as cease-fire will be in gaza brokered soon as muslims are preparing for ramp damadan. >> ramadan. the talks is morph a cosmic question the beginning of ramadan has come and gone. tomorrow is the first full day and for all purposes this idea that would be a succeeding negotiation before ramadan starts that is out of the question with both parties pessimistic about getting a deal. neither side ruled this out entirely. we're starting to see hamas is meeting in dough has. andhas. and from what that was been reported the issues have not changed. hamas wants to see a permanent full cease-fire and israel withdrawing troops from the gaza strip and israelis saying that is not a possibility. benjamin netanyahu said this is delusional. for the aid negotiations, the biden administration he spoke about it with jonathan in an interview we have been talking about yesterday here is what the president told our colleague. >> he has a right to defend israel, a right to continue to pursue hamas but owe must, must, must pay more attention to the innocent lives lost. he is hurting in my view, he is hurting israel more than helping israel by making the contrary to israel stands for. and i think it is a big mistake. >> so it's strong words from the president a couple months ago seemed to be embracing benjamin netanyahu with giving him the carte blanche and the president is criticizing and taking action to provide for the palestinians. >> and the president is able to see what happened. thank you, matt. >> a former trump white house attorney spoke with me me and what he said about it and we're become in 60 seconds. and they believe they can do the same. earn unlimited 1.5% cash back on every purchase with the chase ink business unlimited card. make more of what's yours. he has lost almost half a billion dollars. so it's not like this is a smooth gliding ship. it's difficult legal mine field to run the table. he does have the benefit of time at least to the federal cases because he will be able to dismiss those if they are active once the election is over if he wins but only if he wins if he loses he is going to jail. >> joining us is christie greenburg. i'm glad to have you here. sadie to you here first. do you get the sense that jack smith and prosecutors are concerned this is a race against time if they are to hold trump aaccountable? >> i think so. we have eseen the surprising amount of luck and the success of strum and his legal time delaying his legal cases. we have the judge in florida who has yet to set a trial date. she is strongly suggested she will delay that and washington dc case and that setback for a few months. trump has been successful in delaying his cases but, of course, there is the likelihood that the cases go before the election that might be an albatross around his neck as the final weeks of the campaign close in. >> and ty cobb do you see a scenario where trump goes to jail if he loses in november? >> yep. if he loses and he is convicted in really either of the federal cases as well as the state cases, each of those are charges that carry jail time. if he is convicted in those cases, yes, he could see prison time. >> sadie, can you gauge the sense of whether the team suspected the delays the trials coming as a result of the supreme court scheduled immunity appeal or is the frustration more broadly speaks especially because smith asked the court to take it up in december? >> there's more surprise on jack smith's team they knew and expected trump's would be to delay. but they thought i think that the supreme court would move faster to answer the critical questions. and so they are down to the wire. and they are trying to move these proceedings ahead. in both of the cases they are against obstacles out of their control particularly in sfla where we have a judge that seems to be taking a very meticulous approach to these proceedings. >> you wrote about the legal maneuvering from the judge's court. is trump pushing for an august date because he thinks he might get more favorable treatment than in the dc election case? >> it's not clear to me why there's just smith's team suggested a july trial date and trump's team said as soon as they can do it is august. except for the fact 23459 they have been in court that they would like to see this postponed until after the election. ideally they would have it come after november. and i think that it's an open question of how the judge will weigh those factors. >> trump is claiming immunity in the classified documents. and jack smith used words frivolous, wrong, groundless and regardless, can the supreme court ruling on immunity in the dc case apply to the classified docs case as well. >>? it could depending how the supreme court rules if they ruled across the board you were a president and any acts that you took as the president, you are subject to criminal prosecution that would apply to the mar-a-lago case. in the mar-a-lago case the reason it's frivolous is all of the charges are for acts he took after he was president. again, would the law be binding from the supreme court? of course but is it applicable where these are acts that occurred after he was president. no. that is why jack smith is saying these aargue. s designed to delay the trial. >> the stormy danielles hush money case, will the consequences be a slap on the wrist for trump? >> i don't think so. you have to remember this same conduct was charged federally by the southern district of new york. and michael cohen was charged and convicted with exiting federal election fraud. and he served three years in prison for that. here are the charges are that donald trump falsified business records but in order to conceal or commit that same federal election law violation as well as violating other laws, l. again he could face prison time. somebody has. these are serious charges and should not be underestimated. >> yesterday, ty cobb was not impressed with trump in the new york civil cases. will trump keep his attorney on the team? >> if the civil cases where she is on all of the briefings for appeal he added another lawyer an appellate lawyer the same lawyer who argued in the dc immunity appeal. and so he has added lawyers but as of now, alina has not been removed. is cobb correct we should be less impressed, absolutely. >> another one because march 25 is the same day that trump's $450 million judgment comes due. he posted $90 to appeal the carol verdict. where his funds are coming from out of concern that trump could be beholdened to whoever gave him this money? >> the scrutiny coming from where? ? terms of the courts the court in the federal case the carol case, the judge is not looking at the source of the funds it's can you put up the money. they are not looking at the source behind the funds. carol's lawyers have until monday to died whether they want to challenge that. from their purposes they want to know the money is there i don't know that they are going to on. as to the state case, the new york ag it's not clear they will be looking into the source of funding as well. they are looking for the money to be posted. but it is a question for the american people whether or not he is indebted to someone in terms of his potential anyone's potential influence on him as president. it's something that should come up in terms of the campaign but i don't know that the courts will examine. >> thank you for clearing that up. before the supreme court hears trump's immunity appeal it will hear arguments on obstruction. the you can outcome could affect the charges against trump. are federal prosecutors concerned about that?
