georgia last night and offered drastically different visions for the country. i will let you guess which event and happened in. a close biden ally and a chair of the governor association. i'm going to get his reaction all of it. on friday, donald trump hosted a $91 million bond. it sure seems like he defamed her again. i will ask if trumps tab could be going up. also today, state of the union was really something. she was back on the air this morning. shows his response to the response. later, he was a sender, a presidential nominee, secretary of state and climate envoy. prepares to step away from government to sit down for his exit interview. if it was not clear before and it was, the events of this week cemented it. joe biden and donald trump will be the major party nominees this november. let's get it out of the way and say that for a whole host of reasons, this will not be a regular election. for the first time in 70 years, americans will get a rematch of a presidential race. let's start there. for the first time in over 100 years, americans will have a president and former president on the ballot. for the first time in history, one of the candidates will be running under criminal indictment. we've seen both of these guys before. we know who they are. which means for the first time in a very, very long time, a residential race will not include a splashy outsider change candidate who is introducing himself to the public. yet, that seems to be exactly how donald trump wants to sell himself. the new york times reported this week and that according to trumps advisers and allies, he will seek to claim the change mantle. believe it or not, they are trying to position him, the guy who is president less than four years ago, as an outsider. as conway said of trump "he is not an incumbent, he is an insurgent. at this point, i have some real questions about calling donald trump and outsider. he is essentially become the republican party. setting that aside, can often be a winning message. it is how ronald reagan won in 1980, how will bill creighton clinton ran. barack obama. even how donald trump won back in 2016. it is a simple story to tell. change versus the same. as even one democratic strategist put it in the new york times, if the choice is would you rather be state the course or change, i would always change this world we are in. here is the problem with that shorthand political strategic. we need to be clear about what change would actually mean hundred donald trump. donald trump is not a normal candidate. we should not talk about him like he has. he is not running a normal message of change. donald trump and magna's vision of change is not forward- looking. it is completely regressive. joe biden made that point in his state of the union speech on thursday as well as a number of other speeches this weekend. he has been trying to lay out what the change would look like. a world that is friendly to autocracy and against the world of law. a world where reproductive rights are stripped from women and. i understand if you do not want to take joe biden's remarks as gospel but donald trump has no problem speaking for himself. when you compare the two side- by-side, the contrast is something to behold. >> i can tell you a lot about a person he keeps coming with. yesterday, hosting at his club viktor orban. who says he does not think democracy works. call him a fantastic leader. >> i had dinner last night with a great gentleman from hungary. prime minister of hungary. some people do not like him because he is very tough. >> celebrating for our country, our economy and community. >> i will stop this invasion. i will stop the killing, i will stop the bloodshed. i will and the agony of our people that wonder of our cities. the sacking of our towns. the violation of our citizens and the conquest of our country. they are conquering our country. >> we all know donald trump sees a different american. an american story of resentment, regret revenge, retribution. that is not me, that is not you. >> we have a very corrupt country. i fired a lot of bad people. we are going to get rid of the rest. i know who most of them are too. >> is donald trump for change? sure, sure he is! he is for change in your democracy into an autocratic state like viktor orban. demonizing migrants and normalizing the language of adolf hitler. using the power for retribution above all else. by definition, sure. that would be a whole lot of change. let's clear about the kind of change that donald trump is saying he wants to inflict in his second term. starting is off today is minnesota's democratic governor tim walz. i've been looking forward to talking to him and having them on for a while. he is the chair of the democratic governors association. thank you so much for taking the time. i want to start with my thesis. even democratic them will say and they have over the weekend, trump has an advantage because he is running at the change candidate. what i was curious from you, you are the governor of minnesota, you are very popular. you have talked to voters a lot. when you go out there and voters say i don't want more of the same, i want someone who is going to mix things up. what you say to them? >> good morning and thank you. i think your compare and contrast is exactly right. folks know this is a binary choice. you want someone who wakes up in the morning is competent and compassionate or do you want somebody that creates chaos? that short clip should terrify a lot of folks in i think the good news is the majority of folks in minnesota and across the country to believe that. look, we lived under donald trump's presidency. when he was telling us that it would be gone in a week. we saw joe biden come in and tackle these tough issues from the economy to covid. now, putting a positive vision, donald trump has been the minnesota law. he comes to these big rallies, gets everybody in red hat and does not deliver a thing. joe biden gets out here, get the billion dollars for the most important bridge and when is good minnesota where trade matters, things matter, jobs matter. we will get out there and tell the story. i think some of the me too media callings wake up and say a new joe biden. no it is not. it is the same that has been delivering for us. governors understand because we have to do it every single day. >> does not deliver a thing. someone out there is making t- shirts with your quote, governor. in minnesota, i think it is a point of pride. but in 2016, independent candidates picked up over 5% of the vote in the state. how concerned are you about the impacts? we are in the general election, we are fully ended up third- party candidates. >> we do have an independent. my predecessor was a professional wrestler and governor of minnesota. it is out there but look. i think people are hearing what you are hearing and i appreciate you framing this. this is not a normal election. quit treating it like a horse race, like the normal metrics that are out there. every time donald trump is on the ballot, democrats win. we saw win kentucky last year with a progressive message about job creation in that state. we've seen special elections go whether it's up in new york's third. look. i know that folks are going to be out there. at this point in time, we are a broad party. we do not all wear those same hats. we got a lot of different ideas. there is this tendency to look. joe biden is consolidating that. his message is clear and the results are obvious to folks. as we move closer to november, the binary choice between a trump chaos and slipping away of democracy versus a guy who gets it done. that was the state of the union. his new at is spectacular and tell the story. you're going to see more and more of that. >> do you worry that a third- party candidate could take a bunch of the vote from joe biden and help trump in your state? >> well, i think they should be worried, even in my state where we had folks expressing a deep desire in this satisfaction with gaza. at the end of the day, trump lost more votes than nikki haley and the president did on that. i do not know how you're going to consolidate on this message vision of america. that is not what is there. at the end of the day, when you go in there, it is not a protest vote this time. we do not have a luxury of saying i wish i had a perfect candidate. none of us are perfect. this is a binary choice that could not be clearer. those 30 party folks, look. nonsense about vaccine denial is not going to go anywhere. our home growing candidate has support by the president as he should've. i think that bodes well. >> you are also the chair of the democratic governors association. you have a full plate, i think it is fair to say. one of the alarming things that happened this week in north carolina? the democrats, i should say, have a great candidate in josh stein. the lieutenant governor mark robinson is the nominee on the republican side. he is more transparency than almost anyone. donald trump loves him. he went for to him as martin luther king on steroids, which is a bizarre thing to say. what i am curious about from your perspective is how do you use the extreme nature of mark robinson to help drive out more vote in north carolina to help put that in the win column for joe biden and for josh stein? >> i think that is right. governors are delivering. i think folks across the country know that if you've got a demographic governor, your reproductive rights are protected. trying to do something around gun violence. you saw in north carolina. vaulted north carolina to the top job creation state. expanded medicaid expansion in protecting women's rights. josh stein, the attorney general delivers that, making north carolina safe and prosperous for all. then you got mark robinson. i do not even know what to say. a holocaust denier, someone who mocks the survivors of school shootings. continues to go down this road. this is the party of donald trump now. this is the party of no vision. how is that rhetoric going to make anyone's life better? he says teachers are evil people. i'm going to take this personal. i am a public school teacher. i ask you to think about your fond memories of your fourth grade teacher and think about your children when they go to school and the care that they are shown to say that those are the evil people and his desire to destroy the public schools. that message is going to be strong. i will say it once again. in every election, i do not care with opposer on this. every election that donald trump has been on, we are going to be there. mark robinson, were to make sure people get to know mark robinson. to make sure that he's very clear. the contrast is this. a compassionate, visionary leader like josh stein following in the incredible leadership that roy cooper provided. folks in north carolina know life is better when you have a governor that actually cares and is not in all these weird, bizarre conspiracy theories. we are looking forward to it. we are going to do this across the country. from washington to new hampshire. we will show people that when democratic governors are in charge, family issues matter and compassion rules the day. >> governor tim walz, i think people are going to learn a lot more about the lieutenant lieutenant governor. it is a race to watch for sure. thank you for taking the time. we really appreciate you joining us. coming up, donald trump posted a $92 million bond in the defamation case and he might have defamed her again last night. after the break, i'm going to ask about all of it. we are just getting started today and we will be right back. back. you know that thing your family does? what you think is happening? >> sure. listening to your first segment, jen, about whether donald trump is going to be successful in running as an outsider, this is an example of his running as an outsider but as an outlaw. not stressing the criminal cases but you have these civil cases where he has judgments. up to $91 million. the 400 50 million in the new york fraud case. the concern in the civil cases with these civil judgments is who is the candidate to hold into? is he somebody who is going to be making policy and being differential to people who have put up money? there is a simple way of looking at this. he is 450 million reasons to be differential if somebody else is putting up the money or cosigning. for instance, elon musk, i am not saying he is the cosigner but he has said i have not given up money. that is not the only way that you can help donald trump get a bond. he can actually cosign it. that issue of who is actually behind this is something that people who are voting should know. >> it sounds very clear what andrew was talking about. i think it is important to understand why that matters. it sounds like trump is to someone. we do not don't know who it is. we may never know who it is. regardless of who it is, what dangers does that pose? especially since he could be president again? >> he is dangerous, jen. first of all, not every day that someone posts a $92 million bond. >> not even close to that. the bond he has to post this month. the point that if someone is guaranteeing that bond besides trump the way a parent might cosign a lease for their college kids apartment or something, that can make them and added to that person. it can give a whole new meaning to the term political, dark money. indeed, like when you have a national security position, as you know, you go through a background check and one of the key things they try to investigate is who are you beholden to financially? and right now, we have a presidential candidate who put up a $90 million bond. has to put up another $454 million bond. the public has absolutely no idea what arrangement led them to do that. maybe he has his own collateral. but i expect may go to bed as early as tomorrow. >> looking forward to that. who is behind it is the question. i want to play for both of you some of trump's speech last night which i hope you were not up late watching. i want to talk to you about it on the other side. >> i just posted a $91 million bond on a fake story. >> 91 million based on false accusations made about the by a woman that i knew nothing about, did not know, never heard of. i knew nothing about her. >> i want to start with you. did you hear that? did he cross the line? did he defame again? >> it sure sounds like it. many days that i wish i was, she has been so phenomenal as a lawyer but today is the day i wish i was because donald trump is basically writing the third lawsuit that she's going to file right now and it is absolutely within her rights to bring that lawsuit in and create. trump lost in front of a jury of his peers on this question of whether he had defamed. and now he is doing it again. i'm sure she is sitting there scribbling it all down. >> this is a sign you love your job. by the way, which is a good thing. let me go to you. first of all, do you agree that he cross the line and defamed her again? also, even if you cross the line by law, do you think should just keep suing him or -- how do you feel about that? for rule of law in the cycle of it? >> i think there's two issues on that which is is there enough for to sue again?
