will be taped just hours before it airs. tomorrow will be a very interesting and exciting day. >> at your beauty sleep tonight after you finish the show parents? i will try. thank you. good evening, welcome to the worst week of donald trump's life so far. donald trump's best hope of a get out of free card was joe biden losing the presidential campaign. joe biden is not losing the presidential campaign no one knows what will happen in november but the biden reelection campaign is fired up and on offense. biden answered the pundits who said he was too old in his state of the union last night. 32 million potential voters watched. the campaign announced it is rolling out another $30 million tv ad list. joe biden and kamala harris will visit all battleground states this month, starting today. >> my lifetime has taught me to embrace the future. freedom, democracy, a future based on the court values that defined america. decency, fairness, equality. treating people fairly. that is the american dream. donald trump sees the story differently. he sees a story of resentment, revenge, retribution. >> i asked today, arizona, are you ready to make your voices heard? do we trust women? do we believe in reproductive freedom? do we believe in the promise of america? are we ready to fight for it? when we fight, we win. >> joe biden has a professional campaign operation. joe biden has the pump and power of the presidency at his disposal. joe biden has money to spend on being reelected. donald trump -- donald trump, watched every minute of the presidents state of the union. you know that because he was ranting all night on his social media site. including, he is so angry and crazy. okay, old man, settle down. donald trump is angry about president biden speech. the biting campaign felt so good about it, he immediately turned into an ad. >> i know the american story. again and again i have seen the contest between competing forces and the battle for the soul of our nation. between those who want a full america back in the past, those who want to move america into the future. the issues facing our nation, it's not how old we are, how old are our ideas? i see a future where defending democracy, you do not diminish it. i see a future where restoring to protect our future for the middle class to have a fair shot, the wealthy have to pay their fair share of taxes. i see a future where we save the planet from the climate crisis and our country from gun violence. above all, i see a future for all americans. i see a country for all americans, i will always be president for all americans. let's build the future together. let's remember who we are. we are the united states of america. >> donald trump is angry because of these reviews. in your face, biden, takes on trump and his own doubters. the state of the union, there is life. biden electrifies democrats, spars with republicans in the fiery state of the union address. biden silences the doubters. and, so much for sleepy joe. jonathan alter, has questioned whether biden should run against that today, quote, biden proved he has the strength, endurance, and mental agility to be an effective president. the president did not just clear the bar, he demolished it. here are the most important reviews, voters in battleground states. >> he has a little pep in his separate the old school joking around biden was there and it was good to see that he is ready for the selection. >> he clearly is totally with it. >> i thought he never. i saw energy, and i loved his ad-libbing parent i just thought he punched back like he should have. >> it was powerful. he got his point across. he's doing a good job. >> he stood strong, he looked like a president. and that's what we needed. >> i thought that joe biden, uncle joe, came off vivacious. it's important to him and everybody. >> i think that president biden delivered the strongest speech of his that i might have ever seen? he came out swinging. he did not hold back. i could not disagree with almost anything is ever >> i would rather have a president with 81 years behind them. >> i thought that joe biden was amazing. he set up for himself, for decency, honest day, and for the american public. he was great >> super energetic. he said organize. kept delivering punch after punch. saying things that i wanted to hear him say without being too combative. >> he delivered. he showed that his age will not be an issue for him. his dental capacity to engage anyone and alyssa >> i think that he did a great job. he made his point, he got across to a lot of people. i think you did a great job. i really do. >> he might be a little elderly, but he is saying and a kind man. the other one -- he is old, too. but, he is crazy and dangerous. >> trump is old, too. he is crazy and dangerous. that is it. that is checkmate. there is no issue, no question, no concern about joe biden for which the answer is, donald trump. >> here we are, you guys, donald trump is a presumptive gop nominee for the third time despite the fact he is twice impeached, four-time criminal and tidy, racist, found liable for fraud and band for doing business in the state of new york for three years straight half 1 billion of fines, millions in, tried to distort a country and another to help him win in 2016. actively undermined the nations to a pandemic. it's about to go on trial to breaking. orchestrated a month long coup. so classified documents and obstructed to get them back. never once won the popular vote. rejected by the majority of americans election after election. strange conspiracy theories like climate change. glitches on one, two, three syllable words. cannot spell his name, his wife's name, or the word, and i did. unprecedented, stolen, or -- on top of everything else, the single weirdest and most offputting human being on the face of the planet. this is the same planet ted cruz lives on, so that is saying something. >> donald trump is finally being hoisted by his own petard. it will be pretty hard for the reality tv persona who shoved himself in american spaces or decades, including, every tweet during his four years in office, to convince voters he is something else. if the humiliation of president biden's successful state of the union was not enough today, donald trump finally had to pay. he posted nearly $92 million bond for lying about sexually assaulting eiji karen. e. jean carroll. that is donald trump being punished and held accountable. that is donald trump being bound by the law. like everyone else. yes, it is a bond and he's in the process of appealing, but it marks the end of trump's effort to try to break the system to evade justice. it is only the beginning. just 17 days from today, the civil fraud judgment of $454 million, plus interest, comes due. coincidentally, perhaps politically, the same day as his criminal trial is scheduled to start in new york. donald trump is showing voters that he is angry and crazy. every day. he is grabbing for money under the weight of civil judgments. and he just installed his daughter in law as the head of the republicans national campaign committee. 241 days until election day. today was a very bad day for donald trump. there are almost certainly worst days for him i had. joining us now, tim o'brien. senior executive editor from bloomberg opinion and author of trump nation. he is also the bloomberg podcast, crash course. jennifer rubin, a columnist at the washington post and host of the greenroom podcast. both are political analyst. thank you for being here. how do you feel donald trump is feeling about his future? >> lonely, angry, anxious, petrified. dealing with forces he cannot control. we have talked about this before. donald trump is not a sophisticated man. he is not an intelligent man. he is a student of celebrity and he's been found sedated with it his whole life. that's what he thinks about himself. he watched that state of the union understanding exactly what biden was doing. to rewrite the script the republicans wanted him to follow when he walked in and gave the address last night. they thought he would be a stumbling, demented, and capable old man. instead, he came out with a light touch, he ad-libbed exactly when he needed to. he cornered the republicans at least twice on policy issues, off the class. he cornered with a and i think that's why you saw the massive volume of tweeting from chum. in the meantime, he understood that joe biden was getting traction. if you attraction, that meant that donald trump has a battle out of them. it's a long way to november, but donald trump will be traveling this road dealing with a criminal and civil charges. dealing with the federal prosecution. he is not someone who has any self-control most of the time. he has a financial deficit. he is already emotionally undisciplined. that is going to continue to harm him on the campaign trail. everything he did last night was an indicator that he was the only viewer of the state of the union that thought that katie britt did a great job. after the address she gave after biden was done. he bookmarked last night's event which began with marjorie taylor greene trying to get a reaction out of biden, instead she looked like a vendor at a baseball game ready to throw hot dogs and beers at everyone. katie britt, came across as a suffered wife. she was scary and discerning, uncomfortable -- trump sees although that . he knows the star of the show was biden and he was threatened. >> speaking of marjorie taylor greene, she challenged the president as tim pointed out. challenged him and lost on national television. how do you think trumps all that? how do other republicans feel about associated with that? >> donald trump always thinks he's the biggest bully in town. we all know that to beat a bully you punch him in the nose. that's what biden did over and over again. he did it with humor. he did it with strength in his voice. he did it with rewriting of the script, telling the story of his presidency and the mess he was handed by donald trump. i would like to point out that this is a punch of the nose to the media. basically caring the trump line for months now. who had written him off with story after story about how old he is and he would lose and how he's out of it. how no one thinks the economy is going well. there have been some lonely voices in the wilderness like mine saying that i think you have this wrong. this is not the race. this is not joe biden. i think that joe biden return people to reality. i am shocked. wasn't this like a home remodeling show? this was politics? i did not notice. to be more serious, this is also a huge problem for donald trump and the rest of the republican party. not only have they stirred angry across the country on abortion, it is a 65% issue the other way, with ivf, they have really expressed and explained just how radical and nuts they are. i think they are backpedaling as fast as they can. they cannot do because mike johnson himself looked weird last night, let's face it. he won't say that a fertilized egg is not a person. therefore, the egg gets all the rights and the woman gets none. they have a huge problem with women. they have a huge problem now that they have been identified as the party preventing the deal on immigration. that was going to be their ace in the hole. open borders. i think that biden turned that around. lastly, he labeled them as poodles of putin, they are. >> this is how you know how bad katie britt was. both i and hugh are in agreement. she was terrible. that's how i know -- go ahead. >> when was the last time you and hugh were in agreement? >> rarely. really. today, we were in agreement three times. let me get you on the e. jean carroll situation. trump had to post bond to pay her while he is begging the rnc to pay his legal bills. what does this tell you about his money situation? how do you think of factors into his state of mind that he is finally being held accountable and has to get up on some cash? >> there is a long-standing myth that he was untouchable legally. that meant so many things in his life -- he had never walked up in front of very muscular robust federal and state investigations by prosecutors who were determined to hold him accountable. he has at least four to serious and fearless judgments staring him in the face for the financial side, he is scraping for money. there has been a widespread assumption that donald trump might have several hundred million dollars in cash at his disposal, that was largely dependent on deposition testimony he gave, he said he had $400 million. donald trump never tells the truth. famously, as townsend said, i would not believe him if -- was notarized. for people to believe he had $400 million, they are now realizing the money is not there. he is scrambling. he has another judgment to deal with. $450 million. >> yeah, the other judgment is -- i am glad i'm not him for a host of reasons. 450 million, that's a big one. real quickly, last thoughts? ? first of all, i want to know why he's getting the money. the shareholders should be concerned. secondly, when it comes to the $450 million, if he does not have that, remember he has been begging for a stage of. they will come after his building. we will see the letitia james tower. perhaps you will see mar-a-lago putting it in e. jean carroll's hands. it's his worst nightmare because he maintained the myth of success, he's not, he's a loser. >> i think if you really want to send a message, i know there is a building on fifth avenue and 56th street that will get to the heart of the matter. tim o'brien, jen rubin, thank you for joining us tonight. coming up, donald trump's half $1 billion he owes after his losses in civil court. will he be able to find a bond for the judgment in the new york civil fraud case? >> good to be with you, jonathan. it's a great day for bonding companies as you are observing. just to give you contacts about what a bond is, a bond is simply a piece of paper that reflects a promise to pay. think of it as a u.s. bond, the government agrees to pay under certain conditions. what's applicable here, a revocable bond company has put up a bond that says if the judgment is affirmed, we will pay it. of course, we can talk about bonding companies being there to make money, so they will not make that promise without adequate security from mr. trump. they could take 100% of the amount in cash but that will happen because if he had the cash, he would not need a bonding company and would not have to pay the hefty fees. with the bond in place, if the court accepts it on monday, all attempts that ms. carroll might make to enforce the judgment, it will come to a stop. that would actually be a homerun for ms. carroll. if the judgment is affirmed on appeal, she will not have to worry about chasing him or his assets, she can simply look to the bonding company. the bonding company's problem to be secured to make sure it can get compensated by mr. trump. >> we do not yet know the specific terms of his bond, but given your expertise, how much do you think the bond will cost him? >> it will cost a lot. i think of it like going to -- that's like $1000. give me a rolex watch but it will cost you $200 upfront. it might be 5% of the amount of the bond. it's a negotiation between the bonding company and mr. trump. it is 5% you could do the arithmetic in your head. that is a lot of money for $91 million bond. it will cost a lot of money, not so easy. >> oh, okay. i get it. he did not hand over $91 million and the bond company is holding. he gave them a little percentage of the $91 million, and, if he loses the appeal he has to find that money. i got that right, right?
