gag order in donald trump's civil fraud case. does it impact the trial time line? also, you may be listening to us from a plane, a train, an automobile or just the comfort of your couch, but what about traveling after the turkey? we have a look at the weather you may have to cop tend with and tips on how to navigate any travel trouble. and later, 20,000 new dinner guests. how a struggling community is springing into action to help migrants celebrating thanksgiving. hello again. it's 11:00 eastern. i'm ana cabrera reporting from new york. with all systems go for a release of hostages tomorrow, a humanitarian truce will begin at 7:00 local time friday morning according to officials from qatar, and the first group of hostages, 13 women and children, we are told, are expected to be delivered at 4:00 p.m. local time tomorrow, which is 9:00 a.m. eastern. israeli and u.s. officials have warned before that the hours ahead will be highly sensitive and stressful but as the diplomatic wheels turn, families are desperate to be reunited with their loved ones. >> this is my granddaughter, angel. >> if you could speak to your family now what would you tell them? >> i promise i would do anything to release them. >> nbc's david noriega with the details. you just spoke with a top hamas official. what did he tell you? and can you take us through the agreement that has been reached to free some of these hostages? >> reporter: yeah, ana, i just got off the phone with a senior hamas official. he confirmed the core elements of this deal. there will be 13 israeli hostages released on the first day. three palestinian prisoners released for every israeli hostage. the releases, the exchange will coinue to happen every subseqnt day of the ceasefire. he confirmed, and this is importantecse we didn't have confirmation ofs before, he confirmed hamas has agreed to allow access by the red cross to those remaining israeli hostages inside gaza. we will hopefully be seeing the hostages receive, in some cases, very urgently needed treatment. i have spoken to a family with a young 22-year-old man who is being held hostage by hamas. because neither woman or child, highly unlikely to be part of this first group released, but with a medical condition, hopefully that person and others like him, will see some relief. ana? >> i can only imagine the anguish these families are experiencing right now waiting and waiting for any word and hoping their loved one will be coming home safely. david, the fighting continues between now and this truce that's set to get under way at 7:00 a.m. local time, midnight our time on the east coast of the u.s. with an eye on gaza's main hospital, much of the action has been happening there. israeli security forces said they have, quote, apprehended the hospital director for questioning. what more are you learning? >> reporter: right. so what we have heard from the israelis they have confirmed they arrested the director of the hospital, and they say they did so because they maintain that hamas was using this hospital as a command center and they have been offering some visual evidence that they say supports this claim. hamas continues to deny that assertion, the official i just spoke to not only denied that assertion but also accused israel of committing a war crime by arrest that go hospital director. hamas has said that arrest happened when a u.n. convoy, specifically a world health organization convoy, evacuating both patients and medical staff from al shifa was traveling south to the southern half of gaza along the established evacuation route when they reached a checkpoint dividing the north from the south. now additionally hamas has said they will no longer work with the u.n. and the w.h.o. specifically moving forward because they say they failed to safeguard the people in that convoy. that potentially has pretty big implications. if i can zoom out briefly here, one of the things the foreign ministry said, they hope this four-day ceasefire is the beginning of a lasting truce. based on what we're hearing from the actual parties involved, both israel and hamas directly, i don't think we should have our hopes up. prime minister netanyahu has insisted this is a temporary pause. the war will continue, and hamas has said they will not stop fighting until they get the demands they're asking for, which are an end to the occupation and the release of every israeli prisoner in custody that is not something israel is showing any signs of being willing to do anytime in the near future. >> david noriega, keep us posted. thank you for your reporting. i will turn now to senior white house correspondent kelly o'donnell. what do we know about president biden and his administration's involvement in reaching this agreement and just getting to this moment? >> reporter: ana, the president has been involved from the ge beginning, and he's done so in a lot of different ways, personal diplomacy where the president himself has been working the phones, with all the key leaders including, of course, prime minister of netanyahu, he's also dispatched some of his top advisers and cap net members. envoys on the ground have been working between the different parties trying to communicate to work on the details of this and even the numbers of hostages being discussed with this installation of planned release as well as the amount of time for a pause in the fighting. on all different levels the biden administration says it is involved, it is engaged. in part, because of the partnership with israel, also in part because americans are among those held hostage. we think at least three americans will be released in the first wave, but there are more americans, so these negotiations will be ongoing. and then, of course, for the larger regional implications where the u.s. does have good relationships with some of the arab nations in the region, not directly with hamas, of course, but dealing with the partnerships there. so the president has tried to exert influence. certainly the israelis have given president biden credit for having influence, and even today the foreign minister spokesperson for qatar was talking about the impact of president biden and his administration being engaged and involved and impactful in the outcome as we see it now. today official have is been telling us they are concerned about the logistics moving forward. we learn more about the time line now, obviously it's still fragile but they are optimistic about this moving forward. >> every hour that goes by and gets us closer to hose hostages getting out is crucial. kelly o'donnell, thanks for that reporting. we're joined by admiral james stavirides and jeremy bash, former chief of staff. admiral, the truce starts at 7:00 a.m. local and then the first batch of hostages, 13 women and children, will be released at 4:00 p.m. local. what do you make of that gap? >> i think it's entirely understandable in any operation like this it's going to be kind of confidence building period where both sides are going to be closely watching the other to ensure complete alignment. i think there will be a period of time of skepticism, but i am very hopeful this is going to be consummated. having said that, you know, long term i think it is highly likely we are going to see a return to combat. the israeli military will continue to, in addition to bringing those hostages home, ana, they are going to want to utterly eliminate that tunnel system. that's a real military observive they're not going to let go of that. hopefully we'll get more of the hostages back home and good to be talking about it on a thanksgiving day. >> think about just how thankful everybody will be when those hostages are out. jeremy, there are some 240 hostages, this first batch will include 13 women and children. what will you be watching for? >> we're keeping two groups in our prayers and thoughts. first, of course, the toops in the middle east, like the ones general stavridis commanded in deterring iran, hezbollah, and ensuring this w does not expand and they're advising israel in this effort. the second group are the 30 americans who were killed, the worst terrorist attack against americans overseas since the 1990s and we hope 3-year-old abigail will be released tomorrow. americans will be holding a seat in honor of those ten american hostages who are being held. the biden administration has played an instrumental role. i agree with general stavridis, the longer term effort to degrade and decapitate hamas will be something the united states and israel will need to focus on. if you support peace, a two-state solution, you want hamas eliminated. they oppose a two-state solution, they oppose israel's existence in the middle east. >> admiral, i want to dig deeper on what we can expect in the hours to come. there are a lot of elements that go into trying to get hostage out of a war zone. clear skies, no drones, we're told the hostages will be gathered and handed over through the rafah crossing or the israeli border and the international committee of the red cross is involved in this. how does israel put what has been agreed to on paper into argues when you're dealing with an organization like hamas? >> the good news is the israeli military is professional, highly trained, utterly disciplined and thus when the order goes out from the leadership of israel to freeze the frame, to stop flying the drones, to cease the special operations, to stop all that is in progress, it will stop. and i can tell you as a military officer who spent four years working closely with the israeli military, i was in charge of u.s./israeli military-to-military relations while jeremy was over in the pentagon as our wonderful chief of staff at the department of defense, this is a well trained, well disciplined army. it's in their interest to do so, to conclude, ana, they need to show the world they have that discipline. it will be part of their efforts to gain some ground in the narrative, the info war that's going on. >> looking at some video they provided to us of the action on the ground right now, jeremy. the idf as it struck 300 hamas targets yesterday with some of them being the hamas squads and tunnels which we understand was targeted using drones and reported the killing of several hamas commanders and leaders. it's hard to have a sense how much hamas and its military assets have been destroyed at this point. what's your sense? >> i think one of the reasons why the netanyahu government ultimately agreed to this four-day truce is they felt they made significant gains on the ground. with idf troops they've been able to collect intelligence, find the tunnels, find maps and communications by hamas leaders. they have an intelligence treasure-trove and additional hamas command and control nodes. in the aftermath of october 7th, there was some sense they would have to hit any target they previously believed was associated with hamas. now they can be much more precise. it's the kind of operation the united states would engage in. i think that has allowed them to arrive at this moment. >> admiral james stavridis and jeremy bash, thank you for joining us especially on a holiday. happy thanksgiving to you and your families. >> you, too. >> thanks, ana. when we're back in 60 second, your thanksgiving forecast. where we're seeing weather that could snarl the travel plans today, and if you or your loved ones are stuck at the airport, if you're waiting in line or just trying to figure out how to get home or when to time it, we have the first guest with some advice for you. advice for you (ella) fashion moves fast. >> definitely. and his, after receiving that filing, posting it again directeding comments, negative comments at her, knowing that his attacks before has caused her to be threatened with the most vial comments, anti-gay toward the judge, he knows what he's doing and it's a big bleep you to the appellate court. he is saying i don't care. and it's a not too subtle hint to law enforcement. it is a crime when someone engages in a course of conduct directed at a specific person and that he knows or reasonably should know that person is reasonably in fear of their safety because of that conduct, so i think that donald trump having received that filing earlier in the day yesterday about all of what's been happening because of his attacks on her and then he attacked her again, i'm just saying. >> the sheer volume of alleged threats and harassment sparked since the trial got under way, 275 pages worth, is really stunning, but if trump isn't the one making those threats directly, how can he be held responsible for them? >> well, as i said, if he's directing these comments at her for no purpose and he knows that those comments could cause her reasonable fear for her safety because, as we've seen yesterday, the affidavit was submitted under oath by the court systems, someone from the threat assessment unit that since he reposted her photo with schumer, accusing her of being the girlfriend, a relentless onslaught. her personal email, be personal phone has been flooded with messages. his argument, his lawyers made the argument last week in d.c. before the appellate court, that he's not responsible for what people do after he tweets or posts or makes a statement at his rally, that's just false. >> sam, any sign trump cares about these gag orders? >> no, not really. he violated them when in place. he appealed them. his posture is this is the prosecution of me. i need to speak out against it. i have the first amendment right to speak out against it and it goes into the broader frame of he's being targeted, vilified and persecuted by the biden justice department because they're scared of him. that's one thing. the other thing that's happening is that, and this is a political and legal strategy, he's just trying to throw sand in the gears here. the idea here is to essentially muck things up enough that everything gets pushed back and it gets pushed back ideally in his case towards after the election, and if he is elected president, then he can make a lot of this stuff go away this is part of a larger strategy which is let's just try to hit the brakes and do it however we can. that's why you see all these appeals happening. >> do these gag orders, sam, actually help trump, yes, they may help drag out the legal process but putting the spotlight on the constitution and his first amendment rights as opposed to his alleged crimes? >> yeah, and, look, this has been the common theme for months. after the first indictment, we are wait to go see what would the political ramifications be. we saw in the context of the republican primary it was really beneficial for trump. at the time he was ahead of ron desantis, enough of a contest you done know what the outcome would be. since then a number of indictments followed and his league has expanded. every time he has a legal problem, his republican base views it through this is a political problem not a legal problem. he's being targeted by the biden justice department. we need to rally behind him. he is being victimized. in that vein, these gag orders, yes, a $10,000 fine here or there, but politically they're advantageous for him. >> katherine, viewers might be confused, wait, i thought we were talking about a gag order last week, you and i both were on set listening to that hearing where the judge had issued a gag order. the appellate court took a listen. do you expect that ultimately there might be one decision on the gag orders on what trump can or can't say or will each of the cases have to come to different conclusions based on the circumstances of those cases? >> exactly. there are four different cases in four different jurisdictions. and then the civil fraud case -- there's five, four criminal and fraud. he's not attacking, yet, the court staff in miami or georgia. there will be different decisions. the d.c. circuit will have one decision and that's a very limit ed dwag order. all it says is please don't attack court staff. you would think anyone would be able to not do that. a law clerk who has nothing to do with his case. >> thank you both very much. happy thanksgiving. up next on "ana cabrera reports" how families are coping. the cousin of one person who was kidnapped will join us next. ped. hi, i'm darlene and i lost 40 pounds with golo in just eight months. golo has really taught me how to eat better and feel better. as long as you eat the right food groups in the right amounts, that's all it is. it's so simple and it works. golo was the smartest thing i ever did. i'm kareem abdul jabbar. i was diagnosed with afib. the first inkling that something was wrong was i started to notice that i couldn't do things without losing my breath. i couldn't make it through the airport, and every like 20 or 30 yards i had to sit down and get my breath. every physical exertion seemed to exhaust me. and finally, i went to the hospital where i was diagnosed with afib. when i first noticed symptoms, which kept coming and going, i should have gone to the doctor and told them what was happening. instead, i tried to let it pass. if you experience irregular heartbeat, heart racing, chest pain, shortness of breath, fatigue, or light-headedness, you should talk to your doctor. afib increases the risk of stroke about 5 times i want my experience to help others understand the symptoms of atrial fibrillation. when it comes to your health, this is no time to wait. the holidays are here. take in the magic. happy holidays. we're going to need a bigger tree. spread some joy. hey honey are you ok?
