Today, they reached a tentative agreement to let u. S. Citizens in Gaza Cross Over into egypt through this crossing. The window for that has come and gone, and is unclear at this time whether any americans were able to cross. There are an estimated 500 americans in gaza. Israel has told the 100 Million People in gaza to flee south before they begin the grand invasion for hamas militants. They will also be searching for hostages, hoping to bring them home safely. This is new video of israeli Prime MinisterBenjamin Netanyahu visiting soldiers near the gazan border. Hes vowed mighty vengeance against hamas. As retaliation for the Terror Attack that unfolded a week ago. And we see news chief Foreign CorrespondentRichard Engel brings us the latest from the gaza border. Israel says that its Offering Palestinian Safe Passage from Northern Gaza to the south. Israel is not stopping its airstrikes. Many today are focusing on southern gaza, where israel has told palestinians to go. Medical officials tell msnbc news that Israeli Airstrikes on friday struck a convoy as there was trying to head south from gaza city, killing 70 palestinians, and wounding 200. Most of them were women and children. 1 million palestinians now face an impossible choice, stay in Northern Gaza and face a possible israeli incursion, or flee to the south, as refugees. Maybe getting bombed on the way. A 22 year old dental student there are no shelters. They cut off the water, all the bathrooms are closed. They cut off the internet. Here, we are living in times that have never existed in any humanity possible. This needs to be over. Palestinian life matters, gaza life matters. We are not numbers. Israel has revealed new details after hamass surprise attack on saturday, when roughly 2000 hamas Militants Blew Holes in israels border fence, and went on a killing and kidnapping spree, murdering more than 1300 and taking upwards of 150 hostages, including americans. Documents found and body so the hamas fighters released by the Israeli Military reveal that hamas new Israeli Defenses and weaknesses in detail. Specifically planned to attack schools and civilian communities, despite claims by the militant group that it only targets soldiers. Israel missed warning signs, hamas even constructed a mock village in gaza to practice its assault and trained to destroy border fences, using paragliders. Secretary blinken used travel is part of a Broad American Effort continue the conflict from spreading across the middle east. Protests are intensifying in the arab world. This morning, the Israeli Military released footage of a group of militants it attacked as they tried to enter israel from lebanon. Journalists have also come under fire. Israeli shells hit a group of press in lebanon, near the israeli border, killing a reuters videographer, and wounding six others. Israel says that it is investigating the incident. Nbcs Richard Engel from that report on israel. Now lets turn to kelly covina, joining us live from jerusalem. Kelly, what do we know about the efforts to get Americans Out of the war zone, through the rafah Border Crossing between gaza and egypt . Lindsey, there is a tentative agreement reached according to u. S. Officials open that Border Crossing, which would allow passage from gaza into egypt. However, it does not appear that there has been openings. It does not appear that there has been anybody able to get through. 500 to 600 families, not all americans, but hundreds of people waiting at that crossing and hoping to get through. They received messages earlier today and overnight from the State Department, saying to get close to that border if you can, if it is safe. There might be a very small window of opportunity to get across. It seems as though it has simply not happened. Now it is nightfall. Typically, before all of this started, maybe two weeks ago, that Border Crossing does not necessarily open regularly because of the poor relationship between egypt and gaza, hamas, which rules gaza. When it does open, its for a limited amount of time. Its only for daylight hours. We are now after dark, we understand that the idf has said that they have started a large attack on hamas targets in gaza once again. It looks like that opportunity for today at least has gone. Lindsey . Kelly, you mentioned it there, but what comes next as Israeli Forces prepare for a round invasion . I think we are going to see, first of all the idf has not said specifically. They have said they have made a few Cross Border Raids on foot, small teams, going into attacks on small positions, gathering evidence about hostages. They are continuing these airstrikes. There were airstrikes overnight last, night and into today. They have started that up once again. Then the big question, which all of us have been asking for the past couple of days now, when does the Ground Defense start . Is there a pause . Is there are the israelis listening to the International Community . The european union, the middle eastern countries, mahmoud abbas, head of Palestinian Authority in the west bank. All of these International Voices to hold off and ensure that the civilian population of gaza, the effect on them is minimized. Does israel wait, hold off until more people have been allowed to leave Northern Gaza . Do they start that incursion tonight . We have been told for a couple of days now that its imminence, it is basically anybodys guess, lindsey. Talking about the effects on gaza, what can you tell us about the current humanitarian crisis unfolding there . And also, what are you hearing from Israelis In Jerusalem about that . In terms of the humanitarian crisis in gaza, is going from worse to worse. There is now a severe water storage. The United Nations said that they are in danger of running out of water for a population of more than 2 million in gaza. Latex taps are running dry, no fuel to run the sanitation systems, or the water pumps, or the water purifying plants. There is simply no other drinking water. The u. N. Says that the compound in the south where all of these evacuations are heading, Hundreds Of Thousands of evacuees. They are running extremely low on drinking water. That is a big problem. Theres u. N. Aid, there is a long line of Big Transport Trucks waiting on the egyptian side of the border. They are all filled with humanitarian aid. There is no agreement to bring that aid across into gaza yet. That is sort of stalling in that situation going from worse to worse instead of gaza. In terms of what we are hearing from people here in jerusalem, its sort of running the gamut. People are still very much in shock and in mourning over what happens last saturday. It seems like everybody you talked to has a friend, family member, when someone who is impacted by this. People are also angry. Some people say that i dont care what it takes, i dont care what it looks like inside of gaza, we need to flatten. Others are less Black And White in their views. They are more concerned, frankly, about the people in gaza. When i think that just in terms of hamas, Going Forward with what to do with about hamas, is a pretty unified view here in israel. Or as unified as youre going to get. They need to be taken care of, they need to be reduced to the point where this can no longer happen. Same kind of language that youve been hearing from the politicians. Thats the kind of thing that a lot of israelis will tell you as well. Nbcs kelly cova in their jerusalem. Thank you to you. Lets turn to nbc News White House correspondent allie rothe. What is the white houses role of how are they addressing the humanitarian crisis we are talking about . Lindsey, thats been one of the biggest questions since this conflict began. It was one week ago today. We know that the u. S. State Department Officials are working right now with officials from israel, from qatar, from jordan, from egypt, trying to organize an effort to allow these innocent civilians to leave the region safely. We also know that white house officials have been in contact with the u. N. About efforts to bring humanitarian aid into this area. Food, water, medicine, into gaza. You heard kelly talking about how dire and desperate this situation is in an already reeling gaza, awaiting this imminent attack from israel. Secretary of state Antony Blinken talked more about what is going into these efforts. Yesterday, he visited qatar, take a listen to this. When it comes to providing for civilians in gaza, both ensuring that they can be out of harms way, and they can have access to the support they need, the humanitarian assistance, the food, the medicine, the water. Our focus now is on helping to create safe zones. We are doing that with the leading international organizations, and were doing that engaging with israel. We are working with other companies to do that. Thats where our focus is. Lindsey, there are between 500 and 600 Palestinian Americans living in gaza right now. No doubt, some of them are among the roughly 1 Million People who have been displaced. Who have been ordered to evacuate since israel issued that Evacuation Order in Northern Gaza yesterday. Those officials are talking with leaders in this region about establishing the humanitarian safe zones. We now know that the u. S. Has come up with a tentative deal according to a u. S. Official. With egypt and israel, being able to allow u. S. Citizens to try and t out of gaza, using the rafah Border Crossing with egypt. Its the only Border Crossing between gaza and egypt. That official stressed how much of a difference in an impact hamas could have won this situation. How could impact the flow of people to be able to reach that border, and reach that safety. As far as americans in israel, the State Department we know conducted its First Successful charter flight yesterday from israel, landing in greece for u. S. Citizens and their immediate Family Members. State Department Officials say that as long as there is a demand for u. S. Citizens to leave israel, they will continue to supply those Charter Flights. They say that they are also looking into those options as theyre able to get the u. S. Citizens out by sea as well, lindsey. Its unclear if anyones been able to get out of that Rafah Crossing, ellie rothe from the white house. Thank you. Next, as hezbollah exchanges fire with Israeli Defense forces on israels northern border, fears of a two front war continued to grow. We are back in 60 seconds with a live report from lebanon. Ort from lebanon [narrator] this house is a Generac House and youre just the person to keep it running because a proud homeowner has a protective instinct and frankly, the brains to know the grid is gonna let you down sometimes. Thats why when the rest of the block is Lighting Candles and looking for flashlights, youre ready to rock and roll. Its not just a generator. Its a power move. Request a free quote today. No. No. Nuhuh. Yeah. Oh. Yes. Oh yeah. Yes. Isnt this great . Yeeaahhhh yeah, i could do a cartwheel in here. Oh hey would you like to join us . No. We would love to join you. Israels border with gaza is not the only region we are watching this hour. Tensions are also high on israels northern border with lebanon. Today, is really striking targets and lebanon after missiles fired from hezbollah militants crossed into israeli territory. Yesterday, reuters reported that one of its videographers was killed in a israeli airstrike and southern lebanon. The strike also inter to journalists working in the area. The Israeli Military says it is investigating the incident. Joining me right now is nbcs matt bradley live for us in lebanon. Matt, lets start with a situation on the border right now. What do we know . What is it you are hearing in the background. We are not hearing anything today, as a matter of fact. Weve been hearing things in the background from this position in lebanon for the better part of this past week. This is a situation where we are seeing much more action right along the border and you can kind of see it right there where the lights are on that ridge line just over that ridge is the lebanese border with israel. And we were there yesterday, and we saw some artillery, excuse me, rockets that were being fired from the lebanese side into israel, and just today we heard, and its not close to this, but we heard that hezbollah, from the organization itself had fired on israeli positions in the chabot farms. This is a disputed territory, and its at the intersection of israel and lebanon and the golan heights, which is an Israeli Occupied part of syria. And the israelis say that they fired back. And so this is a heating up kind of situation here. This pales in comparison to the action that we are seeing in israel in the gaza strip, but also it carries a potential lindsay for something far more explosive, because of hezbollah, the dominant Paramilitary Force here in southern lebanon, where to enter into the war it would bring to bear weapons in training and International Connections and political cover and connections that would dwarf those of hamas even though were not sure it would ever reach the fighting level that we have seen it down there or the number of fatalities. But that is why even as all eyes are on gaza, as Israeli Forces must around that area prepared to enter into the enclave for what could be some kind of final, devastating assault against hamas, a lot of folks here are gazing here at hezbollah, which like hamas, is another iranianbacked Military Group that has the capability to sustain extended assaults against israel. Lindsey . Now what details about that strike that killed a reuters journalist yesterday . Well that strike, thats something that is been so disheartening and upsetting to so many of us here. I did not know that person personally, but a lot of my colleagues did, and what we heard from reuters themselves was that he was killed and would look like a missile that was fired from the israeli side. Now the Associated Press and al jazeera have reported that it was an israeli missile. Reuters said they are still launching investigation to what happened, but six other journalists including some from reuters, of johns france press and al jazeera were injured in that attack. We have some video of that and i dont think that we are going to be showing you that out of questions of taste and propriety, but this just goes to show how hot the situation is getting on the border, and how dangerous it is for journalists like myself and my colleague who go down there and reported situation. Hezbollah has said that they are going to be retaliating against the death of this journalists. And again, hezbollah has not entered into the war. Theyre waiting on a decision from their Senior Leadership and possibly from tehran, but this is raising the stakes in a situation where nobody wants to raise the stakes. There isnt much room for the stakes to be raised. You know brad, let you and your crew please stay safe. Thank you. I want to turn out to colonel jack jacobs. It is a Medal Of Honor Recipient an msnbc military analyst. So colonel, first lets get your reaction to matts reporting there, and i had retired general Barry Mccaffrey on last hour. He said hes operating on the assumption that hezbollah at some point will attack and be drawn into this war or draw itself and. What are your thoughts . Yeah, i think general mccaffrey is absolutely correct. At some juncture, hezbollah is going to get involved whether makes an incursion or tries to make an incursion deeper into israel or just fights on the border as it has before. It is going to make life a little bit more complicated for the Israeli Defense force, who has to make sure that it has deployed sufficient forces up north in order to take care of hezbollah while still maintaining the force that it requires in order to clear hamas from gaza north of the waddy. Something else has to be kept in mind here too. Every Military Operation no matter how instructive, and used to keep reserves ready to do one of two things. Either to take care of a situation that is not doing very well or to exploit success. When you have two fronts rightly separated with the majority of the forces down in the south and some up north and the requirement for reserve, that stretches the idf very thin. And on top of that, is the fact that going into gaza is going to be a very long, very meticulous, and very slow process because of the rubble in the streets, the requirement to find hamas, who was probably underground. The requirement to clear buildings to go from street to Street Building to building. All of this is going to take time, and it is going to make life more difficult for the idf especially because there might be a threat from up north. Lindsey . Lets switch to the south, colonel. Israels Military Order civilians to get out of the northern half of gaza. Theyre scrambling to get to safety on top of that. You have american citizens in gaza were trying to get out of that Rafah Crossing. It doesnt look like anywhere able to do that in that window. What you watching for in these next few hours . Its really important to keep a eye on Rafah Crossing. It may very well be that the egyptians may open it up. I know theyre not going to open it up during hours of darkness, but they may be induced to doing so in order to take but or bring not just hostage hostages, or americans, but refugees into egypt. Now egypt has been reluctant to do that over a long, long period of time. One of the problems that exists in gaza is the reluctance on the part of arab nations to do something to support the gazans by taking them in. All of that notwithstanding, whats really important now is how long is the Israel Defense force going to give the civilians and gaza time to go south . There was a 24hour deadline. The deadline was extended, has been extended sort of indefinitely after that. This is what the idf was thinking. The more gazans to go south, south of the wadi who get out of the area, theyre going to go into and gaza, the fewer civilian casualties there will and the easier it will be to find hamas. Its all the current thinking is that the Israel Defense force is not going too into gaza until it has a high degree of confen that the large majority of gazans who want to go south will have left. Once they go in there, the idf, then they have to go through the process as i said of Clearing Areas and finding noncombatants. The protocol is to bring them to the rear of your own lines into safe areas where they can be taken care of with food and water and medicine. That also is going to add to the long term, the long term nature of going into gaza. Very slow and the israelis are not going to go in there until they have a fairly certain idea that everybody whos going south will have gone south, lindsay. Colonel jack jacobs, appreciate your time. Next, as the conflict between israel and hamas grows more perilous by the hour, republicans in congress are still without a house speaker. We will go to the capitol for an update. E. This is american infrastructure, a prime target for cyberattacks. But the same aipowered security that protects all of google also defends these services for everyone who lives here. Listen, your deodorant just has to work. I use secret aluminum free. Just swipe and it lasts all day. Secret helps eliminate odor, instead of just masking it. And hours later, i still smell fresh. Secret works ohhh yesss. We want to find a bipartisan path to reopening the house of representatives, so we can solve problems for the American People and stand with our friends like israel and ukraine and others throughout the free world. But the House Republican civil war continues to rage on. Miring the congress in chaos, dysfunction, and extremism. Minority leader Hakeem Jeffries condemning republicans as the house adjourns for the weekend without a speaker. This is the second longest fight for the gavel in u. S. History. Current gop nominee jim jordan is still short at the 217 votes needed to win. Jordan defeated challenger austin scott during a republican conference yesterday, but at least 55 republicans and said that they wont back jordan for speaker on the house floor. Joining me now with the latest nbc news capitol hill correspondent julie tsirkin. Julie, when it comes to a vote on the next speaker, where are we, what comes next . Yeah, that is the big question. And 55 is about 51 too many for jordan to lose on the house floor. That is the slim majority that they will bring their power by. And so the big question now for jordans candy convince enough republicans working through the weekend calling all kinds of phone numbers, all kinds of factions of a republican conference to come on board and support him when the house gets back in session monday night. That is really the big question here, because jordan first vowed to support steve scalise, who initially wanted the speaker designate nomination on wednesday. Yesterday was basically deja vu about data because they went through a candidate form. Jordan, despite winning and despite winning even more votes in that second secret ballot they held is still very far off from the 2 17 needed on the floor. That begs the question of, if not jordan, who else could potentially jump in here . But by all accounts, the republican conference now entirely ungovernable, and that means that they cannot do anything for israel, for other matters including funding the government. They are completely hamstrung without a speaker. Julie, Senate Majority leader chuck schumer, the highest ranking jewish lawmaker in the u. S. , its headed to israel. What can you tell us about that trip . Hes headed over this weekend to israel with a bipartisan congressional delegation consisting of, in addition to schumer of course, jackie rosen, who is also a jewish lawmaker from nevada. Mitt romney of utah and mark kelly and bill cassidy as well. And so really from both sides of the aisle, lawmakers as you can see on your Screen Heading to israel. The purpose of this trip of course as you noted schumer is the highest ranking jewish official as Majority Leader of the senate and is to meet with Prime MinisterBenjamin Netanyahu and meet with president isaac herzog as well, and to really show support, a sign of support from the u. S. Government to israel to ask what resources they need. As you might, know we have reported first last week that there is a consideration of Pairing Original Aid to israel with ukraine, with taiwan, and with Border Security resources as well. Of course none of that can happen without a house speaker. But really, this is for members of congress who go on the frontlines themselves, to have these conversations, and see what specifically the Israeli Government needs as it defends itself. We also reported late last week a group of democratic senators, including independent senator kristen sinema, urged the Biden Administration quickly assess what it needs including replacing the iron dome with missiles ammunitions that structure needs. So all of this really a sign of support from the u. S. Government to israel as The Strip Heads its way this weekend. All right, julie tsirkin, thank you for that latest reporting. Joining me now to democratic congressman Chris Deluzio of pennsylvania. Hes a member of the House Armed Services committee. Congressman, thank you for being here. Hey, thanks for having me on. How concerned are you about the speakership battling support to israel . Look, its not. My republican colleagues are in complete disarray. It is chaos. And the basic fact is that they cant govern. My colleagues and i am the democratic side have been crystal clear. We are extending a hand in friendship and spirit of bipartisanship and we need five sensible republicans to join us to work out some bipartisan arrangement. This is a moment where we need to put country over party, and i am seeing the worst kind of extremism and dysfunction in chaos on the right, and it has paralyzed the house at a moment when our friends in israel need us to act, where we are still running up against the aid to ukraine, and to take action on humanitarian relief as well. Theres so much that we have to do, and that is all without looking inward at our own problems and the republicans taking us to the brink now again as funding runs out later in november. I want to touch on the humanitarian crisis unfolding. In a minute. But congressman, youre a veteran of the iraq war. That was a conflict in which the u. S. Military was often operating in close quarters with civilians. The Israeli Military will face a similar situation in gaza. What should they be doing to avoid unnecessary deaths . It is paramount. This type of fighting and this type of conflict is horrible, and its difficult, and they will be suffering. There will be israelis that experience this, folks in gaza have experienced this, a reality of war that people will suffer, especially when you have an adversary like hamas was willing to use people, civilians, as the civilian population. It requires restraint in a fight that you have to win, and that is not a easy task and certainly under the administration has been sharing that Point Of View with our israeli friends as they pursue hamas, which they must protect civilian life as they must and will, and it really is not a easy thing. It is a horrible part of war. It is a reason why we ought to avoid fighting where we can and when we have to do it with some discretion. Which of the role of the u. S. Military be in this conflict . I think our role is support, deterrence, containing the fight. I dont think that theres a role to have american boots on the ground. You saw a Carrier Strike move into the eastern mediterranean. That is a significant show of force. I hope and think to, excuse me, to deter with an idea towards containing. We dont to see Fighting Spread elsewhere in the region. If need be, i think having a Carrier Strike there provides resources that we have to evacuate folks, and things get worse when we have to do this kind of operations, which i hope we wont, and i hope were able to rewind on the Charter Flights and to get Americans Out, but i think our role there is a support and desist hours raley friends. That Security Assistance has been a longstanding tradition in this country, and i know it will continue. Have you heard anything more about the Rafah Crossing and why it appears that the window that it appeared that the crossing would be open so that u. S. Citizens could leave gaza and go through egypt did not appear to open . I dont have any more current and. For certainly we need a way to get Americans Out of gaza. That Rafah Crossing is the obvious way, in the agreement was a good sign, although it seems like it did not pan out as expected. So wl be trying to find out why and how we can get Americans Out. That is a key, key priority for us, and back to a question on the presence of the Carrier Strike group in american forces. It is important that they are there if we have to have out. Congressman, many of your fellow Progressive Caucus members have signed a Letter Urging humanitarian relief for israelis and palestinians. We have heard just the dire situation of our kelly cobu that there is no fuel, electricity, even drinkable water. What needs to happen . Okay, humanitarian crisis is unfolding in this is not something unexpected when you have war break out. And i think our role as leaders in the world is to support and make sure that folks arent suffering. That aid is important. Israeli and palestinian alike. I think it will be further complicated by the depravity of hamas, who is so willing to embed themselves in the civilian population and inflict suffering and towards the aim of eradicating the state of israel and its not an easy answer for us but we have to be working towards get protecting civilians and getting aid so that folks arent suffering needlessly. Congressman chris lucio, thank you for your time. Thank you. Coming up next, details emerging of a deal to open gazis Border Crossing with egypt. What we know, how could ease the crisis. That the conflict in israel could spill over into the u. S. Pro palestinian and pro israel protests have been taking place throughout the country over the past week. Weve also seen a rise in antisemitic attacks for many jewish temples, today marks the first Sabbath Service since hamas attacked israel last week. Here in new york, police have been posted outside of jewish places of worship for added security. Nbc news correspondent george solis is at Temple Emmanuel in manhattan. George, he spoke with congress today, how do they feel about what is going on . Yeah lindsey good afternoon and you can imagine that its weighing heavily on their hearts on whether or not they oday for any type of service. Here at Temple Emmanuel there was actually a bar mitzvah earlier, and you saw members of the congregation here celebrating and some of them happy to be here in some saying that nothing would deter them from being here. You mentioned that increased nypd presence, and we have certainly seen that here outside at the temple here. We have all seen it at other houses of worship. Weve also seen outside jewish schools and businesses. So this is something that we have seen escalate over the last several days at this conflict has been in the nypd ordering all officers to report in uniform to increase that visibility as well. We know that theyve been using a number of tools at their disposal as well. Besides the controls, theyve had drones in the air at some of these demonstrations. Just to make sure that everything stays safe. And there has been a lot of tension. Theres been no mistaking that. Thanks here have remained peaceful. And you mention my conversation with some of the congregants. I spoke with one woman here who told me her son is actually in the idf right now in gaza witnessing some of the things that weve been reporting on. You can imagine how difficult it is for her to be here just waiting for word with what may happen, but you can imagine that is why she is here today. Shes gone from synagogue synagogue to synagogue to pray to just hope that this comes to some kind of resolution. Other members saying, again, nothing would deter them from being here today because it is just that special, this first sabbath, since that horrific attack. Synagogue to synagogue to pray for her george solis sons safety. George, tell us about whether there any specific Security Concerns that these jewish places of worship are facing . Right now, senior Law Enforcement official tells nbc news that they have been monitoring a lot of online chatter, excuse me, about retaliation against israel, but that is really where it extends to. Its just chatter. Theres no specific or Credible Threats at the moment. That is not to say though that the nypd Amman Forsman frankly all across the country are asking the public to and of course report something if they see something to say something. Law enforcement again using many tools at their disposal beyond just the online world to make sure the things are safe here in new york. And again, for the most part what weve seen here despite a few hiccups between some of these demonstrations things have remained peaceful here. More protests are expected throughout the day, but you can see that it is raining, so we will have to see how that impacts any demonstrations that are planned throughout the day. But of course this is not just a domestic concern. Theres a lot happening globally to. There are protests happening in london as we speak, and there are obviously a lot of Police Involved in some of those demonstrations. And so a lot of moving parts to all of this of course everyone just hoping that things do remain peaceful as this conflict continues. Lindsey . Nbc news correspondent george solis in new york city. This is real warns that people in Northern Gaza to get out. The u. S. Strike a deal with egypt topen a humanitarian corridor for u. S. Citizens and gaza to leave. There are between 5 to 600 Palestinian Americans on the strip. They were told to go to the rafah Border Crossing during a certain timeframe earlier today. That time has come and gone, and no one it appears has been able to cross. More than 1 Million People were told to leave their homes. One of those evacuees shares her story with nbc news. As you can see, all gaza citizens are just preparing themselves to leave, and no one has a place right now. We are just going. If you have a car, just run. No one knows where we are going, but were all evacuating. All of my neighbors have left the neighborhood. No one is left but us, and we are ready to run. Where . No one has any idea. We are going to the north of gaza, which isnt near at all, which isnt safe at all. Just pray for us and hopefully we will come back home. We will come back home. The Palestinian HealthMinistry Says convoys of people trying to evacuate were hit by Israeli Airstrikes, killing at least 70 civilians. Most of them women and children. Ayman mohyeldin, the host of msnbcs ayman joins me now. Lets talk about that effort. What is the latest at the Rafah Crossing that you are hearing . Its obviously getting to be dark and gaza. No electricity. People generally do not move at night just out of fear of what could possibly happen. There was a little bit of confusion it seems as to whether or not people would be allowed to Cross Into Rafah as you can imagine. It is very hard to communicate with people inside of the gaza strip. And so if you are a palestinian american or European American in these countries who have some way of giving up just because you have the ability to get, out there is the hope that if you can get to the rafah side on the palestinian side of the border that the egyptians would let you win. But thats not seem to be the case. Ive been in touch with a few people and had relatives there and they are not even able to speak with their Family Members to find out if as we were just reporting the danger in the convoys themselves. Even with thousands of people are following the orders and instructions of the Israeli Military drill out of these areas in the north, were seeing reports of convoys being hit. And as a result, people are just extremely afraid and unable to get to some of these safe places that theyve been instructed to. They said they were going to Northern Gaza, which people in Northern Gaza were told to evacuate in southern gaza. What do you make up only americans or dual citizens being allowed to use the Rafah Crossing . I have to say, that sounds very sinister. Theres just something on one hand that is very troubling that you are saying to if you are a palestinian american you can get out, but if you are a palestinian, you cannot get out. And i know that obviously the International Community wants to have everybody out or have an international corridor, but its obviously not playing out the way that the International Community wants it to. Egypt is not open its border for everyone, let alone these dual citizens i should say that are being told to leave. And at the same time, you have Hundreds Of Thousands of not millions of palestinians who are simply stuck in gaza with nowhere to go. Theres obviously nowhere to continue if you cant go in the water. Israel is not going to allow them to have any safe passage across the gaza border into israel. And so they are just simply right now surviving trying to fight for their lives one way or another. Simply as civilians not knowing how to do it, and to your point about just the overall humanitarian condition, the u. N. Today warning that they have run out of water, theyre running out of water. Hospitals taking in Tens Of Thousands of people because theyre just afraid that they dont know where to go. And no electricity, no fuel for these generators. Can you talk about what this could compound to if now people there are forced to drink potentially contaminated well water and then we could potentially have a Massive Health care crisis. Potentiall that is exactly whd nations is warning of. Theyre winning by the dehydration or waterborne contamination because people are left to drink water that is obviously contaminated, not treated, and as a result you can expect, they are one of the u. N. Of massive outbreaks of diseases if these people are not treated. So the conditions in which the people of gaza find themselves right now is nothing short of a humanitarian catastrophe. Not my words. Ewen officials are ringing those bells saying that we are now at the point where hospitals are beginning to collapse. The main hospital in schiefke has several backup generators, but keep in mind even running on generators for four days. We are in the window in which the hospital, the main hospital in gaza city that is Serving Thousands of people on a daily basis, and forget people that are victims of the conflict. Pregnant women, elderly women, anyone who had a medical condition. These people who are being treated at the hospital, all of them now according to the Health Officials are in the final hours of the power supply. When that power supply runs out, the most basic functions of a hospital, the Intensive Care Units for newborn babies and what have you, none of those will be able to continue to operate. How do you reconcile what we are hearing from israel and the Global Community at large saying that israel has a right to defend itself. But when we hear from israelis and its time to destroy hamas, The Milton Arm of hamas, and we hear what this incursion could look like and it could be weeks, months of an elongated conflict. We dont know that yet, but thats what our analysts this hour have been saying. How do you reconcile that with the humanitarian crisis that were seeing in the fact that some of these evacuees are children. This week as been a week of tremendous human suffering. If you start back on the incident on last saturday on the Terrorist Attacks on the israeli civilians, there is a through line of grief for the people in southern israel and an entire country for what they had to experience, and that through line continues to what were seeing now, and its not going to abate the suffering, the suffering on both sides. The civilian suffering on both sides has been absolutely painful saying im humanity i have to say. Because the International Community has failed to protect the israelis that were living there in the southern part of israel and theyve not failed to protect the civilian population that is their. Its hard for me to comment on the military strategy, because the israeli officials havent been very clear as to what the Main Objective is right now. On one hand the status to destroy hamas, on the other hand it is to say the hostages that have been taken by gaza. Are those at odds with one another . Its a little bit right now as were seeing from the scale of devastation, its hard to imagine how that operation of trying to rescue hostages is also playing out while youre carrying out this large scale destruction of the gaza strip while millions of people are seeking refuge in shelter. And so it seems incompatible at the moment just by the reality that is playing out on the ground. We will have to end our conversation there, but much more to talk about. Ayman mohyeldin, thank you so much. That is all the time to be half of this hour. Im lindsey reiser, thank you for spending part of your day with me.
