We start with the Breaking News coming out of ukraine, where nbc news has confirmed some of the civilians trapped in mariupol have in fact been evacuated. In the capital city of kyiv, as always, cal, its good to see you on this. Theyve tried to get these people safe for quite some time, and theyre trapped inside the steel mill, mariupol has been under siege by russian forces. Talk to me about what is going on there so far today. Yeah, a number of attempts to evacuate, theres been a number of attempts to resupply the fighters who are there as well. The last attempt that we know of whats on thursday, cooled off, because of the shelling which became so intense. The last 24 hours, we have at least 20 civilians making their way out of that area, both sides are using the information for their own propaganda purposes. Russian tv saying it was 25, civilians and fighters telling nbc news it was 20, and stressing the evacuation organized by ngos including the committee for the red cross icrc. This is just dire, the government officials calling it hell on earth, at least 600 civilians, remaining in this facility, wounding in 600 fighters as well. News in the donbas region, mariupol, at least four killed there. 36 different facilities in schools, in hospitals, and eight there. They showed you how widespread the fighting was there, and one bit of positive news there, a prisoner exchange. 14 ukrainians released, and seven civilians. It shows you that these are the eight swats by this account. This one more recently, 24 hours. Cal, talk to where you, are harsh and forces begin to pull out in the suburban areas surrounding kyiv, there was this atrocious killing that we saw in bucha, the mask herbs as well. I know theres been yet another discovery as of yesterday in that area. Yes, and we heard the president talk about this and it was addressed yesterday in the overall number of people found in the mass graves. Just yesterday another grave found with the people in, very grim, extensive signs of torture, this is something that we have seen in the suburbs as Russian Troops pulled back. The cleanup still continues, bodies buried in peoples, gardens you have situations of our bodies are still being identified and returned to families. Just yesterday, russian soldiers found in the Armored Vehicles in the kyiv region. Renewed Shelling Campaigns relieved by putin here in and around kyiv. That was a strike 24 hours ago, we spoke to somebody destroyed in this street, theres a bit of sound earlier today. I was, i was crying for an hour, probably, when i figured out that my apartment is totally destroyed. But now i feel absolutely nothing. Its good that im alive, my parents and my sister theyre alive. So people watching this from thousands of miles away, what do you want them to know about what is happening here . That it is an absolutely cruel, appalling, and terrible situation. Its a genocide towards ukraine, and ukrainian people. Yasmin, in that missile strike, we understand it was five missiles fired, to actually reaching the quote unquote target. One of them was fired by air defenses, and still landed an hour south of kyiv, wounding two people. Even with those air defenses, those rockets have to land somewhere. It is a very very volatile stock, and people treat it kind of like a casino. Trump, im sorry, elon owns a lot of the company. And hes putting up a third of his stake to deal with this whole twitter fiasco. So, its a lot. And he doesnt really have a problem with that risk. We stopped to decline over the, week losing his value, and still full stream ahead. You also talk about the fact that, when you look at twitter as a company, there is a lot of debt there. And theres not a lot of cash. Well , twitter has not made good money for a very long time. Really, ever. 90 of its revenue comes from ads. But it uses some really fun Accounting Tricks to make it look like it has their legal, all legal to make it look like it has more money than does. For example, it pays about 630 million of its pay, to its employees, in stock. According to accounting rules, you can put that stop back on your Balance Sheet as profit. Its strange, i know. But, if you take that out of twitters profits from last year it only made about 52 million. Elon is about to put 13 Billion Dollars worth of debt on the company, he would have to pay out a billion interest every year, until that name money is back. Looking at it right now, it doesnt really have a cash. Like the dots dont connect. Elon has to make sure he configured how to pay workers, and pay dead. Which he also personally will be on the line for for a billion a year if this deal goes through, as is. So, not only is tesla on the line, thankfully, everything is on the line. Everything. So, when youre buying a house, as you all know, as most people know, there is an earnest money that you put down if you pull out of the deal, and then the money goes to the seller because they were committed to actually picking up the house. So if you think about if this thing falls through, there will be a killed three on kill fee on either end, depending on whos responsible for the deal falling through. Is that a factor, this guilty, with if this falls through from either side . I think twitter really wants to do this deal. Its really strange that they took a poison pill and a week later theyre like yes all good, we are fine i think twitter executives know the financial position and they did a bunch of stop five x last year. Elon might drive them crazy, that they want to, you but yellen will have to be the one paying the break up the. Because it doesnt look like twitter sees any way for them to buy the company. And if there were someone who wanted to buy the company, elon would be doing this deal alone. There was plenty of private equity firms, or wall street hedge funds that played around with the idea taking a stake in twitter but no one is looking at this deal its just 11. Before we get into the politics and what is happening, i want to congratulate you on your baby victoria. When did you give birth . How old is she right now . She is two weeks now while. Yes she was born in the United States, but she is ukrainian. We believe victoria will be very soon. You look amazing by the, way for having had a child two weeks ago, and youre able to get up and speak with us. That in and of itself is a feat. But of course, ukrainian people have shown to be fighters and incredibly courageous, so we thank you for joining us today, and talking more about whats happening inside your country. As i mentioned of course, there are reports that nbc has confirmed, that 23 people have been evacuated from the steel mill planned, that has been under, it seems, russian control for quite some time. Now what do you make of it . So unfortunately, we still do not have any confirmation that soldiers will be evacuated as well. So far, it has been only 20 people. And you know, there are thousands, theyre trapped under the buildings, and unfortunately, we have only 20 that have been evacuated. It was late, but we are hoping that the russians will at least this time keep their word and let us take the older people, the women, and children out. One more issue is still, there and they keep asking to let us back evacuate our wounded soldiers. Because there are hundreds of them, trapped as well, underneath the mill. They need help, medical help, right now. A lot of them are going to die in the near future. And these are the people who are our fighters, protecting mariupol, for months already. And we need to get these people out. Im glad that you actually said, hoping that russians keep their word. Because i want to play for you but Russian Foreign minister Sergei Lavrov briefly said about setting up humanitarian court orders to get people in the steel mill to safety. And then i want to hear your reaction after. We are stuck because of these inconsistency, because of the desire to play games every time. There is no need for anybody providing help to open humanitarian corridors. Theres only one problem. Humanitarian corridors, which are being denounced on a daily basis, are [inaudible] by the ukrainian nationals. So the foreign minister blaming the ukrainian people seeing in fact the court orders that the russians are setting up are being ignored by the ukrainian people. Oleksandra, what is your reaction to that . I can give you two examples of my reaction. The first one, if you know two days ago, they show the shelled Downtown Kyiv in the president ial areas. The secretary was there, in kyiv, and he was on an official trade, after he he [inaudible] and he was shocked that russians did not keep their word, when one of their top officials was visiting. I can give you a second example, a very sad one. We hear about the Safety Quarters that ukrainians do not follow. Today is exactly one month when my very close friend, and husband of my friend, died trying to evacuate people from the true meghan city. They were killed by a russian rocket. There was nothing left of him, he has two dollar daughters left, and a family that is mourning now. That was a Safety Corridor that he was trying to take, he was a civilian, but trying to take people out. And the russian rocket, they killed him, thats why when i keep hearing that ukrainians are breaking rules, i think the whole world, its not obvious with the black and white, is where the evil, is and where the sunlight is. And ukrainians are fighting not only for our independence, our land, and our country, but for democracy of the whole world. And unfortunately when we see russians deny, that that theyre okay with the Safety Corridors, but then they end up shooting our friends, they end up shelling the cities where they have secretaries visiting, then its difficult to call anything but the total lie. Oleksandra, im so incredibly sorry for the loss and the loss that your husband has felt with his friend there. Before you go, i just want to hear your comments when it comes to this aid package that the president announced yesterday, 33 Billion Dollars and i know you tweeted out support about this. We are already seeing the russian army stalling in the east as well. How incredibly important is it to get this aid package passed, and to the ukrainian people and ukrainian fighters . This aid has been a Turning Point right now in support of ukraine because weve never had so much support from the United States, or any other country. The only thing that could that i could play for is that theres bipartisan support for this bill inside and in congress. I know this bill goes together as a package, and unfortunately some republicans might not support this. So i really hope that ukraine, and ukrainian aid, will not be a will not be among these two parties, so far its been total bipartisan support for all the help that has been coming to ukraine. And we have been very grateful for that. That is what helps us keep fighting. But unfortunately, i will also tell, you we will have to ask you for more. The toll in the 20 billion we are talking, about the military aid, coming to ukraine, is to keep us for less than three months. Ukraine has been spending Seven Billion per month on military and security. Besides all those weapons that we kept getting for free from other countries. So unfortunately, if the war is not over within these two or three months, we will be asking for more help to back up ukraine in our fight for democracy. Hence the reason why if this is something that we have to really buckle in for, youre hoping this aid is not politicized here in the United States between both the democrats and the republicans. In another offensive strategy for Russia Vladimir Putin is suspending Gas Deliveries for poland and bulgaria after they refused to pay. Theyre trying to use russias gas as a way to fight back against the crippling sanctions imposed by the west. But the fellow at the Foreign Policy research into institute summed up the policy like this, putin is bringing a knife to a gunfight and his approach will severely backfire. Ron is following this from london. Ron, good to talk to you, this move is obviously not going over well, within the eu. Talk to us. We the eu is heavily dependent on russian gas, we have a graphic that can show you, about 41 of the gas is imported of russia. And an even larger amount of oil. Theres a dependency relationship there, and the russians are insisting that the eu pay rubles, because that will pay sanctions, on the russian economy. And despite all that, overall, the eu is sending billions and billions of dollars to rush up for energy, whether in rubles, or, euros or dollars. So, again theres that relationship. The eu is trying to keep all of its 27 members together on the same page, to resist this effort by the russians to get more rubles, and generally, more so, the eu wants to cut down its reliance on russian energy. But all of this was foreseen. And this is the president of the Eu Commission talking about russias attempts to use its Energy Resource as a weapon. Take a listen. It comes as no surprise that the kremlin uses fossil fuels to try to blackmail us. This is something the European Commission has been preparing for in close coordination and solidarity with Member States and international parliaments. So far this fight is about gas, and most of the eu countries have enough reserves where they are getting gas from alternate sources, and some contracts ended the bigger the end of the year. There is a talk of an oil embargo by the eu. Countries want to go in on, that especially germany is really reliant on cheap russian energy, so those back and forth. And thats another front in this fight thats going on. Germany often seems to be the xfactor in all of this when it comes, to of course, the discussion of energy to the eu. Ron allen, thank you. Weve got officials saying more than 1000 structures in that small town outside of wichita have been damaged. That number is expected to climb. You mentioned about 1000 homes, or buildings damaged in this area. Im standing next to one of them. Its a home belonging to the clinton family. The husbands Pick Up Truck on its side, behind me. The piece of the Roof Piercing Part of its body. As we pull out you get a real heartbreaking sense of how powerful this tornado was that struck last night around 8 30 pm, thats when the queen family tells me that a neighbor, or someone who lives in this area drove by shouting to take cover. Thats when they took cover in their basement of whats left in their home. Hard to believe, but you can see the roof has been ripped right off. The majority of the building has collapsed on one side. The family huddled downstairs in the basement while this tornado made its way through. It has left four people injured. As we mentioned, damaged about 1000 buildings in this community. Most importantly, right now, officials are stressing that the death toll remains at zero. This is after they had gone through a damaged neighborhood, after damaged area, doing those checks to make sure everyones made it out okay. Again, this is just one house, in an entire neighborhood. If you look behind me you get a real sense of scale. Anything that was Industry Natives pat suffered extensive damage. The National Weather service is out today, yasmin, trying to gauge astute ranking this tornado would be. That still has yet to come back. Unfortunately having cover too many of these storms, this was a powerful twister, just looking at the damage left behind here. Looking at what it was capable, if we can watch a little bit, in this direction, i want to give you another angle at this home. It is absolutely stunning to believe that the family came out unharmed. Watch your step here, rather, were just gonna cross here. This is the side of a familys house thats now in pieces. As we turn the corner here, it just really hits you. I want you to look at whats left of what appears to be the families living room. Yasmin, you can see the coach, beyond the debris, just sitting on that foundation. Those ripped trees right behind it. This is wet too many families are having to deal with today, here in and over, kansas. Important to note, here, yasmin, this is a community thats very familiar, unfortunately so, with the power of a tornado. It was almost 31 years, to the day, back in 1991, that in infamous ef5 Monster Twister struck this community. Left 17 people dead. Injured more than 200 others. Some of those people, back then, didnt have any warning, because the towns only siren was out of commission. Of course, there have been significant updates since then. Incredibly, leave us where we are today. That is where no deaths were reported as a result of this powerful tornado.
