is there any concern -- we know they're trying to keep a firewall there. is there any concern this that is going to become a significant political distraction as it stretches into next year ahead of the midterms? >> yeah, jonathan. it's great to see you this morning. as you said, the white house is doing its best to keep itself separate from the january 6th committee. they think it's important for the committee to continue to investigate what happen and bring those to justice who were responsible for the deadly attack on the capitol, but the white house is trying to stay independent and more than an arm's reach away, really trying to let the committee do the work, to your point, to stay out and above the political fray that is undoubtedly going to come out of the work. this is something president biden had been adamant about, that the committee should do its work. his aides have done the same. privately they say the same. this is important work to understand what happened on the capitol that day, but they want the committee to take the lead and stay out of it to avoid jumping into the politicized process that it's undoubtedly become and will continue to become as these people are subpoenaed and potentially held in contempt as we saw with steve bannon. >> tyler, you've had a pair of terrific stories in recent days, one to tamp down effort that president biden won't run for re-election and then in the white house, particularly the communications department. walk us through it. at times the white house has struggled to get it message out on the president's agenda. and, of course, look, we know since the last election, there are rumors -- the president just turned 79 years old -- that the president wouldn't rerun for president. walk us through what you found. >> yeah. on the first run, it's not typical for the white house that is approaching the first year of the president being in office to have a slew of staff departures. as you know well and many people in washington do that the white house is a grueling place to work. the hours are long. particularly for those who worked on the campaign, it's been almost three years of working every day to elect and then serve the president of the united states. so it's not unusual you're seeing these string of departures. i think what is making this a little more difficult in the first year is there are some budgetary shortfalls stemming from the government -- the bill that congress passed to avert a government shutdown in late september. they will face that financial process again of trying to extend government funding, but this one they passed in september did not have enough funding to cover the white house operating costs some of the white house has said it's tightening its belt and is not replacing employees that have left. obviously the communications department is one of them. but there are a whole host of offices that are dealing with it. they're hoping to alleviate it once the new funding is passed hopefully by congress early next month. but this is not unusual in terms of the departures. what is they haven't been able to hire anyone to replace them. communications is important as they try to sell the infrastructure story bill. as you mentioned, 2024 is a concern with a 79-year-old president that the democrats are trying to sort through. they want to have deference to the president. he's signaled both privately and publicly he's running for re-election, but dhaunlt stop the parlor game. right now preliminary plants are under way to make sure he and the party are in a position should he choose to run in 2022. that does not stop the chatter, what does it look like for an 82-year-old to run for re-election. >> tyler pager, thank you for being here. we're going to dive into e all of that with our guest, karine jean-pierre. also ahead, we'll have an update on the three charged in the murder of ahmaud arbery. don't go anywhere. er of ahmaud . don't go anywhere. ten months and the president's leadership in creating jobs in the last ten months, we're seeing unemployment at 4.6%, which is two years faster than predicted, we're leading globally when it comes to economic recovery. so all of these things are really important and were unprecedented, and the president was able to do this. one of the reasons as well if you couple that with the chairman's record these past four years an also how he's maneuvered the federal reserve through this pandemic, his leadership are all reasons why the president reappointed chairman powell and also how he was able to keep the federal reserve independent as the president spoke about as well during some of the toughest years, and so these are key cry fear yas for why the president wanted to move forward with powell. look. just in your question about senator warren who we very much respect and have worked closely with on many issues, the president understands that the strength of our economy is with the middle
