Pr stunt . Lets get started. All right our top Story Tonight Voting rights. With republicans doubling down on their attempt to restrict the right to vote. Senate democrats introduced new federal voting Rights Legislation this week. But its chances of passage remain dim. As roadblocks continue to play the upper chamber. Thats inside democratic senator amy klobuchar, from highlighting the importance of the legislation this morning, in an apparent strike here On Msnbc, watch. Our job is senators right now, yes we have a lot to. Do economically. But it is the oath we take. To protect and defend the constitution of the united states. We need federal Voting Rights to do that. All right so klobuchar is one of the sponsors for the freedom to vote act. Lets Take A Look at whats in this new bill. Automatic voted registration, an online registration, making Election Day a holiday, uniform early voting, and perhaps most importantly, a provision that will prevent state election subversion. One form of bridgerton has been in the news a lot, discriminatory gerrymandering. Now republicans in both North Carolina and texas were criticize for Redistricting Plans that appear to be discriminated against black people. In fact a North Carolina court went so far as to block that State Voter i. D. Wall. But charges of racism didnt end there. On wednesday congresswoman, elissa, funding the number three house republican, released a series of controversial ads that echoed. Whats become known as the great replacement theory. Im sure you probably heard of it. Its a radical notion that suggests that liberals want to replace whites with his sons in america with, nonwhite immigrants who will then presumably vote for the democrats. And she was not alone in this. Listen to what texas, then patrick said on news a little bit. Later the revolution has begun, a Silent Revolution of the Democrat Party and Joe Biden protected over this country. We are talking about millions and millions of new voters. And they will thank the democrats. And biden for bringing them here. Who do you think theyre gonna vote . For so this is trying to take over our country without firing a shot. So all right, amid this ever escalating of extremism, one voice of reason in the gop might beat Louisiana Senator Bill cassidy. He is one of only seven republican senators. Who support impeaching President Trump this year. Cassidy appeared on meet the press this morning, where i asked him about the future prospects of his party. Do you think at this time with where the party is choosing to go right now, with Donald Trump, that that is a losing strategy for the midterms at this point . If we relitigate the past, we lose. We have to speak about the future. Now again, our country is looking for something that brings back the prosperity we have pandemic. If we speak about recovering that we, win. All right so there is a lot to discuss, lets bring in our allstar panel for the hour, manny has a needs no introduction, but im going to give him one anyway, he is the host of the many hassan show, which immediately proceeded the show. Daniel moody is the host of woke a f daily. And john have a senior political reporter for nbc, digital, hes also the coauthor of lucky. How Joe Biden barely won the presidency. Its great to have you with us. Jonathan i want to start with you because the democrats had a rough week. They are getting another piece of bad information for them just within the last hour. So we just learned that the Senate Parliamentarian actually ruled against allowing the democrats to include a Pathway To Legal Status for an estimated 8 Million undocumented immigrants. And a massive social spending plan. This is definitely another setback for democrats. Does this effectively and their past how big of a setback is this for them . Its an enormous setback, i think for insiders of Capitol Hill its not surprising, parliamentarian would. Rule that Immigration Policies are in the framework of budget guidelines, the expedited process, reconciliation that will do both [inaudible]. But it does seem to be a moment where it suggests that it made the [inaudible]. Many i have to ask you about, this because i know its something youve spoken about quite often. And it shows the approach that the democrats take to politics in this country, because in one hand i heard they say this, that republicans are playing chess, democrats are putting tickets. They have the votes, they are the ones in power. They could be the ones really trying to pass this bold agenda. And trying to do the things the president are signing up to do. But there are keeping Delta Delta setbacks. Which we saw this evening what is your take on this . I mean it is ridiculous, im sure she is a wonderful lady, but she isnt an elected official. Shes an adviser to the senate. There are two things the democrats can do, they can overrule her, Kamala Harris is the president of the senate. She can decide what goes into the budget Reconciliation Bill. This parliamentarian is already rolled out of now this immigration Reform Nobody elected her, she doesnt have the power to block anything, or they could go one step for that they could just for the parliamentarian. You might just save fire the parliamentarian . Thats a bit radical. They can do that. Tell that to the parliament party. They fired the parliamentarian, Chen Lot did, it went to got into the way of republican tech scarred, now Aim In, democrats being democrats, they are not gonna overrule the parliamentarian. They are not Gonna Fire the parliamentarian, so we are going into the mid term saying that we could not give you all the good things that we can give you. Because of it. And voters will say, who the hell is the parliamentarian. And vote out the democrat. I think people would not have known her name if you didnt say. It and i think even if your people understand the role the parliamentarian plays in the amount of influence they have. And being able to block legislation. Danielle, lets talk a little bit about voting. Rights vote mention, claiming that hes working to find republican votes for Voting Rights. Do you buy . That not that hes not trying, i believe that hes trying, but genuinely speaking are their republican votes out there, to try and get Voting Rights passed . Or is he just losing to the democrats, always pretending to play the game while protecting to scuttle in The End. Joe manchin, loves attention. This man loves the spotlight. I dont know what republicans hes looking for, but we have not found a republican to, within four and a half. Years we have not found a republican within four and a half months. We have two republicans that decided but the insurrection actually happened. And they will go against voting Rights Act. So i just dont understand what Joe Manchin is doing right now. Other than continuing to obstruct our democracy. He does not need Voting Rights, he does not care about what happens to black and brown people in this country. Because he represents west virginia. Which is largely a white state. So he does not care what is happening right now. And he likes us to pretend that we can collaborate. That we have this two party system, which we obviously dont have. I dont know who his friends, the republicans are, and who is looking at right now. But i have seen none. And No One Else has. Either its incredible that people are trying to hold on to the rules, in the wake of this next essential threat to american democracy. Jonathan its not just even about voting guides, its not just about the totality of legislations that democrats are trying to get past just this month. Whats the likelihood that democrats managed to pass Voting Rights and a Reconciliation Bill this month . Well i think number one, i just want to zoom out on Voting Rights, because i think some folks may not remember, or may not have lived through the process of where hes been 50 defy plus voting years. There are fewer Voting Rights now. Then there were when the voting Rights Act of 1965 was enacted into law. That thing has been gutted. So youre looking at the countrys 55 years on the Voting Right Act particularly of the last decade or two. Ten to your question, Voting Rights and reconciliation, looks very unlikely without the Voting Act Bill will actually move through the senate and become. No reconciliation, the democrats can figure up something with Joe Manchin, christian cinema, that the house can agree to. And maybe they could get reconciliation done. But it does not look like there will be anything between five point trillion dollar colors over the next years as most of the democrats [inaudible]. Matthew you are a man of philosophy, a republicans have now latched onto another theory, first it was critical race theory. Now its a great replacement theory. And just when you think things couldnt get any crazier they are now pushing this, as i just, said to the set up to the segment, that this notion that democrats want immigrants to come into this country to replace white people so they vote democrat. Your thoughts on that. Your theater radical thoughts on this . Well the great replacement theory, and i hear using that phrase, because it gives him more credit than its. Do is quote nationalist propaganda. Its a quite thing that led to hispanic people gunned down to a War Down in el paso. It led to jews being massacred in the synagogue in pittsburgh. A used to be backed by Donald Trump alone. Now its at least who was supposed to be a moderate didnt show up to the rnc because she objected to trump. Now shes pushing this nonsense. Which tells you to think steve. That white nationalism, white supremacy, is that we key ideology of the republicans, its Part And Part of the party views, and number two there are no principal republicans, there are no matter republicans. Leftist and well pointed out sure you are inching to get the right thing on the intervention. But when it came to Voting Rights they voted against for the people act. So really where those modern republicans in the time that the parties need [inaudible] . Yes the metric of being a moderate now is your relation to Donald Trump, not on any of these other Court Issues that you were talking. About danielle final thoughts for you on this, this week in North Carolina court, the lock to State Voter i. D. Laws saying it discriminates against black people. If Democrats Cant get Voting Rights passed, are judges going to be the only hope in this country to preserve the right of black people to vote . Yes, and guess who knew that. Mitch mcconnell. He was able to push through 300 federal judges on the bench, during the trump administration. We the democratic party, are the only group that never talked about the. Course and Mitch Mcconnell knew with this was going. Thats why he has three supreme court justices, and thats why hes that is over 300 federal judges. We are in trouble if the democrats cannot get kristen cinema, and Joe Cinema on board. Our democracy is weaning, coming to its and right now, and that is not me being hyperbolic, that is absolutely the truth. No voting. No Democracy Jonathan please stick around were just getting started, thank you for pulling that triple duty forest. Good to see my friend. Coming up after americas 20 a War In Afghanistan, theres a lot to unpack. Nbcs new York Angle joins me here on set, the head of a Special Edition of an assignment airing tonight, On Msnbc at 10 pm. Those are the words of dr. Alan brady, a texasbased physician yesterday. He became the first doctor to publicly reveal he performed an abortion in defiance of the states law. The socalled heartbeat act, which went into effect earlier this month, effectively bans all abortions after six weeks. Next month, the supreme court will take up a challenge to a mississippi abortion law. That case will give the court the opportunity to reverse roe v. Wade, and activists have been sounding Alarm Bells about the future the long Health President since Justice Amy Coney Barrett was appointed to the court, in 2020. Now, this past week, Justice Barrett caused a stir when she said the court was, quote, not compromised of a bunch of partisan hacks. And that the media, along with hot takes on, Twitter Report the results and decisions. That makes the decision seem results oriented. Now, let me just put this into context for you. She said this at the university of louis will mcconnell center, sand it guess next to who . Right next to Mitch Mcconnell. Now, as then senator majority leader, mcconnell invented one precedent back in 2016. He refused a hearing on mary Garlands Nomination because it was within eight months of an election. He then reversed that president in 2020, to rush Amy Coney Barrett to the supreme court, less than one month before an election. Yes, she chose that setting, next to Mitch Mcconnell, to complain that the supreme court is unfairly viewed as partisan in this country, believe it or not. To help viewers understand why this outrage lasted all week, we thought it would help to use two different references. Now, for viewers my age and perhaps those that are older, do you see what Amy Coney Barrett said is kind of like this clip. Im shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here. You are winning, sir. Oh, thank you very much. If you are a younger viewer and have no idea with that reference was, this is more like. It who drove a hotdog shaped car through the window . The drivers. On somebody called, cops we need to find the driver. They could have killed someone. Whose cars . This yeah, come on. Whoever did this, just confessed. We promise we wont be mad. All right, with me now jonathan, ali, Daniel Moody are back. Joining us now, mark joseph stern, he covers courts and law for slate and has been following that Texas Law in the upcoming Mississippi Case very closely. Im going to ask which one of you saw the older reference to casablanca and understood it. Which one saw the younger one and appreciated it . Danielle, what do you make of the hypocrisy here . Slamming the media for being inaccurate at an event that was largely closed to the media, standing next to none other than Mitch Mcconnell, who as i mentioned, rushed her confirmation through with less than a month ago, but denied Mary Garland a hearing because it was eight months out. I just consistently feel like republicans are punching us. Like, they just think that the american people are stupid. Like we dont know what Mitch Mcconnell is doing, like we never know what he is up to . He upheld, you know, Mary Garlands Confirmation Hearing just through Amy Coney Barrett and then shes just, like were not partisan. What do you mean . Us . Never we are not doing a shadow docket, what are you talking about . Look the other way. Its insulting, really what it is to the american people. And i am out and done by that constantly. Shocked, shocked, i tell you that gambling is taking place here. John, Justice Barrett wasnt the only one who went up against the media. I want to play for you what Justice Clarence thomas said, this week. I think the media makes it sound as though you are just always going right to your personal press. Preference. And they think you are antiabortion or something personally, they think that is the way you always will come at. They think you are for this or for that. They think you have become like a politician. There is a lot to criticize the media about, john, but im curious your thoughts, as a member of the media, how do you react to his characterization . If this Perception Or Reality . Well, im not surprised that supreme court justices would be the first to raise their hands and say, i am not prejudiced, i didnt decide this case before i even read it. But in truth, what we can see over the course of time is that in order to be appointed to the supreme court of the republican president , you have to be vetted by an organization made up of republican lawmakers the right, you know, the sort of right political leanings throughout the history of your career and you can never have stepped off. So i mean, the idea that there isnt a partisan leaning in the supreme court defies not only reality but the long history of the supreme court, joined back to all of the president s. Even President Roosevelt wanted to back the court. Why . Because he felt the judges were to republican. He was like, i want judges that are more democratic. I want more of. Them this is how the court has been forever, they always say are not partisan but for the most, part we see that there is a lot to the accusation there, as far as the media goes, we are judging the record. We read the decision. We network what they say both have promised that they would judge everything individually and not and then we watched them walk back from their conclusions all the. Time yeah, i was going to say, glittery formally present trump that he wanted prolife judges on the bench. I mean, he is saying the quiet part out loud. So when you then say these judges, are they partisan or not, it just, you know, kind of scratches ones head. Mark, i know that your report on the court has Polarization And Politicization got worse in the last few years . How common is it for justices like what we just saw speak out in moments like this . I absolutely think it has gotten worse. And a big part of that is that the court has lurched far to the right. We now have a six three conservative Super Majority that has been willing not only to drag the law to the right, but to do so in very alarming underhanded, and antitransparent ways. The conservative Majoritys Abuse of these Shadow Dockets to overhaul the law in a direction that the republican party prefers, has been raising Alarm Bells all across the legal profession for years. Finally, i think regular people are starting to see what is happening here. But when the supreme court can overturn roe v. Wade, effectively, in the middle of the night in a one paragraph order, with virtually no reasoning, we know there is a problem and its not the media. Doing our best to figure out what this opaque cryptic single paragraph, ending a womans right to choose could possibly mean. So, i think that Amy Coney Barrett and Clarence Thomas clearly need to look in the mirror and do some soul searching, if they are trying to figure out how the court became so politicized. They are the ones who are breaking all of the courts rules, who are violating decades, if not centuries, of institutional precedent, in order to change the law on abortion, on religious liberty, on every issue republicans care about, in the middle of the night, through the shadow docket. So john, can we track this all back to Senator Mcconnell playing politics with obamas confirmations, or is there something else here to blame . Is there more than one person to blame in how we got here . I mean, in the modern era, the really modern era, you can look back at that moment and certainly a big moment, right . He said we are not going to let you nominate anybody, were not even going to hear for them. You know, america doesnt get a hearing. And there is certainly anger on the side of the democrats but this really goes back a lot longer than that. And there are ideological battles at times that are less partisan from the big Party Appointing justices and there are moments where it is more partisan, in terms of that. Basically, you have a back and forth in the court for generations. And you know, we are living through a time now where a lot of these decisions are very big and momentous and, you know, in particular with regards to the texas abortion law. You know, the law of the land for the last, you know, 50 years or so, almost 50 years, has been roe v. Wade and we are going to see a real test to that, you know, not just what we saw in the last couple weeks, but over the coming months. Mark, lets elaborate about what you said on The End of roe v. Wade. Because after the supreme court refused to block that texas abortion ban, you are the piece titled of course this supreme court ended roe v. Wade by doing nothing. Explain what makes this supreme court so different from others, and what it means for the future of roe v. Wade . So, the hallmark of the current Conservative Majority is making huge moves, dramatically and radically altering the law, while pretending to be doing almost nothing at all. We saw this over and over again in the most recent term, the first turn with Amy Coney Barrett, where the majority would overturn decades of Precedent And Lie about it, and claim otherwise that Conservative Majority restored juvenile life without parole and claimed that it wasnt doing anything out of the ordinary, that it wasnt changing any law at all. The Conservative Majority overhauled religious liberty to strike down a huge number of covid restrictions and said, oh, we are just applying the president we have always been applying. They are doing this stuff and lying about it to the media, to our faces, to the american people, and that is what happened with row. That is why wrote that piece, it was not surprising because this is a majority that has shown itself willing to just tell untruths all the time. Of course, the five ultraconservatives couldve come out with a decision in the middle of the night saying, we dont believe in row, we wont abide by it and we are overturning it. But that would take courage and candor, and that is something that this majority lacks. So instead, the court waits 24 hours after the law has already taken effect and then issues this one paragraph order, saying, essentially, nothing. Oh, these brilliant texas conservatives have trick the supreme court and there is nothing we can do about it. That is so obviously ally and i think its an insult to the american people. Yeah, and there definitely a few more cases that are making their way to the courts that are going to be closely watched. Daniel, quick question. Democrats, theyve provides many solutions to this problem, some expanding the court, for example. Others said Ad Term limits so these appointments are not for life. Where do you see these proposals going, can they come fast enough, are they likely to die . You know, what i love . Id love for the democrats to stop proposing things and actually start doing things. That would be shocking and incredible. The reality is that we are not going to see an expansion of anything until we have the two democrats in the senate that acts like republicans actually function in this democracy and want to see progress. And so until we see that, everything that we are saying is just a wish list. All right Daniel Moody, john allen, and excuse me, completely forgot omar josephs turn, sorry about, that mark. I just wanted to make sure i got it right. As someone who just i did not want to screw that. Up appreciate. The pentagon admitted that the a mistakenly killed innocent civilians. Wont know the name daniel hill. In fact hes the former Intelligence Contractor for the national Geo Space Intelligence agency, who leaked information on u. S. Drone strike back in 2019. He is currently serving four years in president. Now in the league that he revealed during one five month period, in 90 of strikes that took place in afghanistan, the u. S. Did not hit its intended target. Now he told a court during sentencing quote, he had to go part of your conscience to keep doing your job. But after two colleagues invited him to watch Drone Strikes after work, his conscience, quote, once held at bay, came roaring back to life. Now the fact that you probably never heard of hill, or his story, is particularly relevant to just how little we know about the u. S. Drone strike program. Its impossible to find all of the details of every single Drone Strike that has taken place over the last 20 years. Now just as its own most in powerful to get to the one strike we had learned about this weeks a Drone Strike in kabul. Which killed ten innocent civilians, including seven children. The death did not include a single terrace. And the only reason we learned what actually happened in the strike, is because there was footage of the aftermath. And families of those killed, were quick to refute the claims made against their loved ones. But, if this was happening in a remote location, as it so often has, would we ever even hear about . It the 20year war may now be over. But there are still many questions about afghanistan. Lucky for us we have the right person to ask about. This Nbc News Correspondent Richard Angle comes in from kabul afghanistan. Richard you are just there on the ground, of course have a big special tonight. Yes and im so happy to be on your show, your new show, ive known you for a long time. We first met in baghdad during the war. And here you are. So congratulations. And thank you for all the reporting youve been doing, its nice to see, lets talk about afghanistan right now, you just returned from there. Obviously a very chaotic situation. Your big takeaway of what youve seen now on the ground over the last several weeks. You know, some people say its tragic, or that were back in Square One. Because the taliban were there and 20 years have gone to. Now the taliban is back. I dont think its either tragic or back to Square One. Back to Square One implies, you want to run the block and now youre where you are again, and nothing else happened. Maybe you spent a little gas. Thats not the case. We have spent two trillion dollars, 2500 lives, tens of thousands of afghanistan civilian, 60,000 afghan troops, american credibility has been on normally damaged. Now you have the taliban who are in power. Who are Hyper Empowered. They are better armed than they ever were. And they had this victory narrative. Which is hard to dispute. That they destroyed undefeated and pushed out a superpower. And that narrative is enormously powerful. When you walk around you see the taliban on the street. They have a glow in their eyes. A two bright look in their eyes. That they are floating on air. They did it again. They did it again, and if the americans cant stop them with all this weaponry, and all this drones, and all this intelligence, and all this money. What can stop . Them now that they have got on their side. So who is going to tell them what to do about girls, what to do about Human Rights. If what they were doing well in the past got them to where they want to be, why break the winning formula. And the reason i dont think it is a tragedy is because tragedy is something that happens like an act of god, its a tragic expense. Someone lost their Family Member to cancer, or an earthquake, or something terrible happened. That is a real tragedy. There was so many mistakes along the way here. This was more like a crime. This was a war of a victim of negligence. There were time after time, opportunities where it was going better, and unfortunately it did not. So we have this and result where 40 Million people are now living under the taliban. You have soldiers, generations of soldiers who went to war to see their country go back to the hands of a Hyper Empowered in the. They are going to be consequences for a long time. You talk about mistakes that were made, one of them that we just highlighted was the drones that have taken place, this deadly. Jones are not unique to afghanistan, and you said earlier, normally they take place in somalia, yemen, or places that youre never gonna hear about. This one took place, while the world was watching. While journalists were there. All eyes, in kabul, they dont often take place in urban areas. And immediately afterwards, journalist, the Family Members were saying this isnt right. This was just normal people. We know this people. And it was actually [inaudible] times they documented and they got the cctv footage, but it was the access. And the exposure and the pentagon to do an investigation and did a big win [inaudible] in the centcom commander, who got an incredible job recently. He had to come out and talk about the evacuation. And talk about the 13 oh marines that were killed. And to come out and say sorry we. And hes taking responsibility for that Drone Strike, lets look ahead a little bit, your special tonight. You are going to see a graveyard of how are you dont know what youre gonna be here, youre Gonna Run Out of Dvr Technology is an incredible thing, so tell me what can we look forward to tonight, whats in the special that were going to see. I know youve been doing a lot of reporting on the ground there . Well its taken a long time to put together. It has a bit of a historical sweep. Because you need to understand some of the history. And the history itself is fascinating. I think Theres Nothing more interesting than history. I mean its everything. So it talks a little bit about how this War In Afghanistan started, and it didnt start with 9 11. It started a lot earlier than that. And theres two types of Name Narrative threats. One, a soldier story. A soldier i met there right before a fire fight. And i stayed in touch with him over the years and his family, to see what kind of impact this week intense combat has. And then this contrast of going from an intense comeback situation, to coming back to the u. S. And such a small percentage of people in the united states participate of showing the burden of military responsibility. So its very hard for them to do that. And then what its been like for the afghan people. So these two parallel narratives with a little bit of history, our woman in. Was that a tease . Yes i want to find out what happens with that soldier, will be watching closely. Its good to see you my friend. Its always really fun to see you in person. And yes thank you very much thank you very much richards, stay safe, and make sure you catch that special on Richard Angle on assignment, 10 pm eastern On Msnbc. Also Coming Up this week the u. S. [ nautical Horn Blows ] i mean just because you look like Someone Else doesnt mean you eat off the floor, or yell at the vacuum, or need flea medication. Oh, yeah. Thats the spot. Only pay for what you need. Liberty, liberty, liberty, liberty hey google. All right, this week we saw some big developments in the quest to be paid the same as their male counterparts. On tuesday, the u. S. Soccer federation announced that they would be offering the mens and Womens Teams the same contract proposal, which they said would ensure that both teams are among the highest paid senior national team players in the world. In response, the Players Association for the Womens Team called the move a pr stunt, and an attempt to bargain through the media. Still, the offer could be a step in the right direction, though. Star player Alex Morgan, who has been one of the most vocal players on this issue, said the public commitment to equal pay is a good one. Morgan said, any press conference, quote, we need to look line by line about what they are actually providing, because if you have equal pay but its not even what we got before or to that value that we are, then we still consider that to be not good enough. Joining us now is a. G. Has, a reporter with cnbcs make it, and a self proclaimed u. S. Womens national team fanatic. And steph young, a Staff Writer for the athletic, who covers Womens Soccer Right here in the u. S. Its great to have both of you with us, steph, let me start with you. What do you make with the somewhat mixed messaging in response to this offer. On one hand, you have the Players Association calling it a pr stunt. On the other hand, you have one of the biggest stars with Alex Morgan striking a more optimistic tone. How do you read it . I think the players are being cautious because, im not gonna say they have been burned in the past, but maybe they have learned from past negotiation, to be a little cautious to redefine print and the u. S. Soccer and Communications Weather struck right back and called their entire, you might have seen its called a lefty on hbo. They call that a 90 minute pr stunt. So i would take Alex Morgans caution as being pretty valid, in that the president of u. S. Soccer has said some stuff that sounds really good in good faith and those were the players coming from but then you have official communication sing another thing. So, you know. Mix, indeed. Aj, i want to dig into Whats Euro because one of the key issues is the pay both Men And Women get from the Fifa World cups. You broke down the numbers for cnbc, so lets walk through some of them. In 2018, the mens World Cup, there were 32 teams playing for 400 Million in total Prize Money, with france winning 38 Million. That same 2019 womens World Cup, 24 teams competed for only 30 Million in total Prize Money. The american Womens Team won that tournament. They only took home 4 million. So obviously, there is a huge disparity in pay. Obviously, its not just on the u. S. Soccer in this particular case, because it has to do with the World Cup and that is owned by fifa. But how big of a Sticking Point are these payouts from fifa . Well its big. The recent statement from the u. S. Soccer says that they are dedicated towards working towards closing that gap. Recently, fifa has said that they are going to extend the number of teams for the next Womens Tournament to 32. Theyre going to increase the Prize Money to 60 million, that still leaves a really big gap. The other thing is, you know, the federation might say that they dont have direct kind of control over those things, but is paid directly to federations. And i feel like there are a lot of players who would say that u. S. Soccer has a role to play and irresponsibility, to make sure that their players get a fair shake. Yeah, and the frustrating thing in this, steph, im sure you are aware is the u. S. WoMens Team has been far more successful than the Mens Team in international play. In fact, the mens didnt even qualify for the last World Cup. Theyre off to a bit of a Rocky Start to qualify for the next one. What happens if the men seemed doesnt qualify for the 2022 World Cup and then dont have any revenue to share . Should they be going for more than the men, given their level of success . Well, i think what we have seen recently is that we need to take into account the mens national team Players Association also released a statement in support of the women, because they understand that one is good for the Womens Team is good for the Mens Team, to. It is a rising tide lifts all boats here thing. And they understand that the women can establish a strong berating position, so can they. I think context is also important here, because Womens Soccer in Mens Soccer are historically into a very different places. For example, you look at things like mls minimum salary is something like 80 81,000. But the nws al, a local women domestically, their maximum salary is about 52,000. So its not even close to what the mens minimum salaries. So the Day Today to these women lives playing soccer is very different from the man. , yeah the inequality is just absolutely striking. Expected gridlock on the Upper East Side of new York City and im not talking about traffic. The u. S. General assembly is about to kick off its highlevel week tomorrow. World leaders and their Entourages Descending on the international Bodies Headquarters here, as we speak. Here are few things to look out. For the two main focuses this year for members are ending the Pandemic And Fighting climate change. But things have already gotten off to a Rocky Start with covid19. Despite the u. S. Encouraging member states to call in virtually, to avoid a superspreader event, more than 100 Heads Of State are scheduled to speak for the general debate, believe it or not. Plus, new York Citys indoor vaccination requirements have highlighted some uncooperative visiting dignitaries, from places like brazil and russia. And on climate change, well if anyone is holding their breath that they will get anything done at these gatherings, please dont. Then on tuesday, President Biden is scheduled to address the General Assembly for the first time as president. He is going to have a lot to talk about, i am sure. The u. S. Is going into this with a bit of a bad week. You may recall back in february that the Biden Ministration approved in nearly 200 Million Arms Deal 200 Billion Dollar Arms Deal, to egypt, despite Human Rights concerns. Then the chaotic im afghan withdrawal will be top of mind. And chuck words are expected from long term allies in france, after the country recalled ambassadors to the u. S. And australia, over a snubbed Submarine Deal this week. So what is the takeaway we expect from this years General Assembly . Well, its hard to say. But getting these diplomatic people in the room with one another, talking and actually sticking around is a start. But one thing is for sure, it cant get any more embarrassing than this moment from general assemblies in the past.
