Its the largest amount of money that the federal government had been toward something. Thats a the other piece of legislation thats coming up is this budget Spending Bill. The action plan, you start to find out the cultural Competence Definition is nowhere in the plan. In those 34 pages you find equity, equity, equity. Microaggression. Never defined. Micro aggression is defined as verbal, nonverbal. Intentional, nonintentional. Its in the mind of the be holder. They want a plan because they have their life experiences. I also have mine. I grew up as a child many the 70s and the 80s as a Mexican American and i was called all kinds of names and i was in a lot of fights. I will tell you i was getting it from both sides. I was getting it from White Children and black children. Does that mean im supposed to assume theres systemic racism in the black community. I reject that. Lot to unpack here. You mention distrust there. What kind of perceptions and fears have you found are at play when people in southlake started thinking and talking openly about critical Race Theory both for and against. It sounded like he was concerned because he was left up to individual interpretation. Interpretation of some of these words, these antiracist terms like Micro Aggression is a large part of the concern but what was interesting about what We Saw is the words critical Race Theory, the phrase we heard screamed at School Board meetings, showed up after their fight began. The fight started in 2018 when the Diversity Plan started form. People began working on it but it wasnt presented until 2020 in months after george floyds murder. This plan comes forward after this racialized, politicized time. What you see is parents like juan end up entering this opposition movement. This backlash to the plan when they raise Hundreds O Thousands of dollars and one parent launches a lawsuit that leads to a Restraining Order on any work of the Diversity Plan. You hear them say criticisms of terms like equity and Micro Aggression and they believe its not defined and leaves it open to abuse of White Children in the district. Abuse of White Ch the district families have said not only have we heard comments and racial remarks from students at the school and administrators havent taken action in such situations.
