It is clear it was important that to point out they did not get out, they were still in kabul, but general frank mckenzie, he did acknowledge that there was times that the taliban had thwarted attacks on the airport. Were calling this the afghanistan underground railroad. There is 175,000 individuals that need to be evacuated from afghanistan. And their evacuation is not going to be nearly as easy as the evacuation of 115,000 people that the government claims we took over the last three weeks. There will have to be negotiated with the taliban to get these people out, either via humanitarian Air Or Ground corridor, or there will have to be private endeavors, covert extractions, which is far more difficult and expensive. Our organization is going to be trying to coordinate all of those efforts. There is a lot of them ongo right now. We felt it is best to use our organization as an Umbrella Organization to try to help get those people out. Lets be clear, the american people and the Global Community united to help these people right now. Our fear is as this process draws out over years, people lose interest, and it takes less time, we are trying to get as many people out as possible. The less likely it is that we can save people. Imagine if we had begun evacuations in june or july. There still would have been a rush to the airport. A Break Down in Confidence And Control of the government. To be in this sort of environment and see these enormous granite faces and nonetheless, have embers jump a mile or more, get across this and begin to threaten Lake Tahoe which is just a few miles in this direction. Thats where it gets very scare. Compounding that, of course, you can see the little bits of rooftops in the valley below me. All of this is settled by homes and beyond into the Lake Tahoe basin you have about, and several hundred of them have been lost. Thats why firefighters are so concerned.
