The time you go to Bed Tonight you need to be where you intend to ride this storm out and you need to be as prepared as you can be, because weather will start to deteriorate very quickly tomorrow. I want to bring in nbc News Meteorologist Bill karins with the latest on Idas Path and when people along the Gulf Coast will really begin to feel the impact of this storm. Bill, we are talking potential Ocean Surges of up to 15 feet above normally dry land. What does it mean for people in the direct path . That means it is historic. That means know your elevation. If you are in southeastern louisiana, the coast of mississippi, one of the most important things you need to know is what the elevation of your house is. If you are above that 15 feet, you dont have to worry about Wave Action on top it, likely you will be okay. Your Emergency Managers know all of this information. If theyre telling you to evacuate, evacuate. This is not a storm to pool around with. We do not know exactly how intense it is going to get in the next 24 hours. Right now it is a category 2. It could try to make it all the way up to category 4 right up until landfall and push the wall of water into the swampy, lowlying areas of southeastern louisiana. You can already see where the storm is. It is just coming on the bottom of the stream. Can you see the northern Gulf Coast. You can already see rain bands out there. The core of the storm is still about 12 hours from getting near the shoreline, so we still have the rest of today to make your final preparations. The eye of the storm has appeared at times during the day today. Right now it looks like a Smallertype Eye has formed. 100mileperhour winds is the estimated intensity now, and that Storm Motion still going pretty quickly to the northwest at 16 miles per hour. So here is the timeline of events. By Tomorrow Morning at Day Break, the storm will only be 50 to 100 miles offshore. The strong Wind Bands and the tropical Storm Force winds will be on shore at Day Break. Thats why theyre saying get everything done tonight because tomorrow it is too late. They dont want to have to do Rescues Tomorrow if people try to evacuate when they wake up in the morning. This was the 11 00 update from the Hurricane Center. Notice the Center Red Line was to the left of houma. Im certain when we get the new advisory it will be right over houma or to the east of houma, bringing the core of the hurricane that much closer to norms. The forecast this afternoon has gotten a little more dire for our friends in New Orleans as far as what the intensity of the winds would be and the potential for Storm Surge. The closer the core gets to New Orleans, the worse the surge will be and the higher the winds will be for that big, Densely Populated area in New Orleans and right around it. Then we worry after that about what is going to happen with the rain Sunday Night into monday. Here is our Computer Models. This is why we are thinking the next forecast will be shifted east. That black line is the Hurricane Center. Thats their last forecast. Ever since then the new Computer Models, the colored lines have come in and a bunch of them are closer to New Orleans than they were earlier today. So thats why i think that next forecast will be either right over houma or a little closer to New Orleans on the East Side of houma. Then the storm will be heading up towards Baton Rouge and finally into mississippi by the time Day Break comes monday morning. What does all of this mean . The Number One thing here is another, this is going to make your eyes hurt, but it is our spaghetti plots. The red line has been trending also towards New Orleans. As i said, thats more meteorological, that gets very complicated. As far as the surge goes, 10 to 15 feet, thats what kills people in these hurricanes. Thats the concern. Thats where theyre telling everyone to get out from Southern Louisiana up towards Morgan City and towards houma and even lake pontchartrain. And then on the East Side of norms, the area in red, could get up to an 11foot surge. On top of all of this mess, 1 to 2 feet of rain, and, of course, with a hurricane this strong you are going to get extreme winds. We are thinking right now some of the strongest winds will be Morgan City and houma. These are estimated gusts. I think they actually will be higher than that, lindsey. The Bottom Line is we are only about 45 minutes away from the new Update And Path from the Hurricane Center. Everyone in New Orleans will be watching this one closely. That little shift We Saw earlier today, a little wobble of ida has made the storm get a little closer to the highly populated area that was hit by katrina 16 years ago. All right. Nbcs bill karins. Thanks for tracking that for us. We know you will keep us updated. We appreciate it. Here in the Nations Capital a summer of Voting Rights protests is culminating with crowds of Tens Of Thousands demanding lawmakers enact federal legislation to protect and expand voting access. Right now you are looking at some of the protesters who have been out in the streets since this morning. We are also looking at the stage and some of the speakers there. Nbcs Trymaine Lee joins me from d. C. s National Mall where speeches for the march on Voting Rights are wrapping up. Trymaine, talk to me about the mission of the nationwide rallies here on the 58th Anniversary of the March On Washington and what you have been hearing on the ground. Reporter lindsey, thank you so much for having me. You know, it is symbolic to be having this protest today, 58 years after the original March On Washington. For so many people it is a symbolism, sadly, that the fight continues to fully incorporate black people in particular into the franchise and into american democracy. Todays protests, and there were several of them today here in d. C. Of course, as you know, also across the country also, trying to force the hand of congress to enact federalized regulations around voting and protections. So we heard from a long list of speakers culminating with reverend Al Sharpton who was the sponsor of this particular event, the March On Washington for Voting Rights. What he said was that the day and the location were all very intentional. Lets take a listen. We decided not to go to Lincoln Memorial but to go where you could see over our heads the Capitol Building of the united states. The reason you needed to see that building is because in that building the senators will decide whether to continue the Segregationist Filibuster or whether theyre going to give the people of the country the right to vote with no prohibition. That building is the target of our Social Justice movement. Reporter reverend Al Sharpton connected the filibuster to seg Degree Gagsist Segregationist policy. He said today with a peaceful marching you saw a resurrection of dr. Kings mission to have a more equitable america. Even though dr. King 58 years ago today spoke of a dream, so many people are still dream in. Today they want to put pressure on congress and make some noise and tell them theyre not folks in the streets arent going anywhere until something happens. Lindsey. So many people are still dreaming. Trymaine lee, nobody puts it quite like you do. Thank you for your reporting and for joining us. We want to go now to tamika mallory, national cochair of the womens march on Washington And Coorganizer of todays make good Trouble Rally here in d. C. Make good trouble, of course, the monicker, the slogan, the saying of the late John Lewis. Tamika, what was it like today being part of another March On Washington . We just heard trymaine talking about the symbolism here. 58 years later, once again fighting some of the same issues. Yeah, we are still fighting 58 years later, but i think today what We Saw was new energy within this movement, younger people who have come out to say that the baton has not been dropped, that congressman John Lewis left us with the message of make good trouble, get into good trouble, and it is, in fact, happening and it is live here at the Lincoln Memorial today. Yes, we are commemorating, but we are also recommitting to the vision of fighting for freedom, jobs, justice, and we will not drop the baton. Lets talk about some of the goals of the make good Trouble Rally you helped to organize. At the top we have protecting and expanding access to the ballot. What do you hope to see come out of todays events . I mean we know a lot of this legislation, the for the people act, the John Lewis Voting Rights act, are tied up in congress and without Filibuster Reform it doesnt appear that they will go anywhere. Well, i think what is important today and the message that i particularly had at this rally is that, yes, we do call the Republican Party and we say you work for us, you work for the people, but we are specifically here to speak to the democrats that continue to come back to our communities and ask over 90 of black women to keep voting for them, to keep putting them in positions of power and then when it is time to do what is necessary for our communities we start talking about working across the aisle with people who have shown us over and over again that they do not support our communities, and that they are actually obstructions to justice rather than them being folks that are on the right side. So i think today we stand in our power saying to President Biden, Vice President harris and all of the democrats that are particularly in the senate that they have a job to do, and that that job is to pass federal legislation that protects our communities, because the reality is that when black people and marginalized communities are unprotected people die. People die. We have to protect our communities, and they need to do their jobs and make sure that that happens. Lets talk about, i mean, the reason you guys want federal legislation is because we are seeing efforts to undermine Voting Rights right now turning into real legislative action in so many states. Look at what is happening in texas, and republican lawmakers say this is all to prevent Voter Fraud, which there have been very few cases uncovered. Voting rights and advocates like yourself say it is to undermine the ability of minorities to cast their ballots. Right now how would this not only impact marginalized communities you just mentioned but really everybody in The End . Well, i missed the part of what you were saying. Your Voice Kind of cut out. Here i will say to you that we understand that Voting Rights is the cornerstone of all of the issues that we care about. In order for us to get anything done, the George Floyd Justice in policing act, for us to see that there be things done we have to have the right to vote. We understand that others know that if they take away our right to vote and if we dont understand the power of it, then they will be able to continue to enhance the lies of those people who are rich and those people who have been in power and decrease the quality of life of black and brown people and marginalized communities. So thats why were here, to make good trouble and to say that we see you and we know that you begged for our votes and you tell us things, but at times you lie. It is even people who look like me. We have got to stand together and tell the rest of those who are in positions of power that we didnt just put you there to look cute, we didnt just put you there so that you could be in power. The people have the power, and it is your job to protect us. Wow, powerful words there, tamika mallory. We appreciate your time and spending with us on such a busy day. Thank you so much. Well, the clock is ticking down on president Joe Bidens Goal to have the u. S. Out of afghanistan. So with three days left, can it be done . Just hours ago the pentagon shared new details on the situation in afghanistan. We now know the names of the 13 u. S. Service members who were killed in the Kabul Airport Bombing on thursday. You are looking at some of their pictures and their names right now on your screen. The majority of the fallen soldiers were marines in their early 20s who were in their infancy on september 11th, the day, of course, that sparked the war in afghanistan. We also learned that yesterdays u. S. Drone strike was done in retaliation for Thursdays Terror Attack at the airport in kabul, killed two highprofile Isisk Target it and wounded a third. President bidens statement issued said in part, we will continue to hunt them down and make them pay. He also said, our commanders informed me an attack is highly likely in the next 24 to 36 hours. Joining me right now is evan coleman, Msnbc Terrorism Analyst And Cofounder of flashpoint, a company specializing in risk point, and ambassador Mark Ginsburg, former White House mid east adviser, Counterterrorism Adviser and former ambassador to morocco. Evan, we want to start with you. Do we know about the threats that the afghans and americans trying to flee could be facing . Isis in afghanistan specialize in bombings, Suicide Bombings and thats what they carry out. It is safe to assume it would involve some kind of bombing, suicide bombing, probably again targeting the airport for refugees trying to flee. Thats their modus operandi. They dont have a large playbook, thats probably what they will do. It is difficult to stop this because there are still large crowds around the airport as of a few hours ago anyway. With that many people crowding around this area, they dont have enough forces to secure the whole area. It is chaotic. It is just an open field, unfortunately. Evan, you posted on twitter a chart of Isis Military Operations in afghanistan showing a spike after former President Trumps troop withdrawal plan. Were looking at it right now. Has this changed at all, particularly in the past two weeks . It is just remarkable if you look at the timeline because isis was basically dead in afghanistan as of early 2020. They werent carrying out any operations at all. All of a sudden as the u. S. Made a deal with the taliban and started we started withdrawing our troops, you started directly seeing a spike in isis operations up to a few weeks ago when they were happening on a daily or semi daily basis. Now, that suddenly came to a halt on august 14th, the day that the taliban took over power in the same province that the u. S. Just launched Drone Strikes in. Now, wasnt clear at the time this was because isis could no longer operate with the taliban running around or was it whether it was because they had decided to follow a different plan. You know, looking at what happened in kabul, that the bombings in kabul, it certainly looks like they switched their plan. It is safe to presume theyre going to try to do this again as long as the opportunity is there. Ambassador, as someone who used to advise President Carter on middle east policy, how would you not only have advised President Biden here but what would you continue to tell him moving forward . Let me answer the last question first. Theres no doubt, and as my friend evan indicated, isis is trying to reconstitute the caliphate destroyed in iraq, and the boasting rights over who will wind up being successor when we leave whether it be isis in khorason or another Isis Franchise remains to be seen, but the fact is that the taliban has always enabled many of the terrorist organizations, whether it be al qaeda, isis or some of the offshoots of the taliban, more Extremist Elements that have been harbored by the pakistanis to operate inside afghanistan. So, unfortunately, we are probably going to see far more efforts by the administration to engage in overthehorizon attacks to take out isis operatives as we are able to identify them by intel. Now, what the president may or may not have done correctly, look, the fact of the matter is that it is a terribly sad situation, what is happening. The fact is that he set this date. It is clear that while we may get 100,000 folks out of there, theres still Tens Of Thousands who will claim that they have supported the americans right. And that their lives are in danger. We are not going to be able to get them out. I mean on that note, ambassador, when it comes to next steps, how does the president walk this Fine Line . I mean you still have to evacuate the rest of the u. S. Citizens there, evacuating u. S. Allies, withdrawing troops, and now fighting these terror threats. Well, one thing i have learned working with when the shah fell during the carter administration, to secretly arrange for an Underground Railroad of americans to escape from iran. It is doable. We have assets on the ground no matter whether or not the troops come out or not. There are cia operatives that will remain inside afghanistan, and it is clear that they will be engaged in facilitating many of these people through secret Underground Railroads outside of outside. Now, how many will be able to get out remains to be seen. But im quite confident the biden administration is doing everything possible to pta till sate this type of evacuation, notwithstanding withdrawal of u. S. Troops. All right. Ambassador Mark Ginsburg and evan coleman, thank you both so much for lending your expertise and your time. Marches for Voting Rights not just happening here in washington, d. C. Today, theyre going on all across the country, in atlanta, phoenix, miami and more. Up next, Tielik Mcmillan joins me to talk about what needs to be done to secure equal Voting Rights at the Ballot Box. Welcome back, everybody. A massive United Front behind Voting Rights has formed around the country today. Thousands of people are marching, speaking out and standing up in an effort to stop Voter Suppression, from d. C. To miami to phoenix, weve seen rallies, protests and events. Theyre all being held on this 58th Anniversary of Martin Luther King jr. s iconic I Have A Dream speech. I am joined by the Youth Director for the national Action Network, tylik mcmillan. Tylik, it is so good to talk to you. Thank you for being out here with us today. Talk to me about why it was important for you to be involved in this and the significance of this day. I think of the words of congressman Elijah Cummings would say when we think about this moment in history we are fighting for generations yet unborn. I think about myself as a young person, i am fighting for my childrens children. I think when our childrens children look back at this moment in the History Books the question is what did we do, and a lot of us can say what we would have done in the 60s and here we are in 2021 faced with Voter Suppression at our front door, and the question is what are we doing in this moment. We thought it was important to stand up and fight back with almost 500 bills across the country, it is more needed now than ever to stand up against these tactics. The goal of a lot of these Events Today is to encourage federal lawmakers to pass overarching legislation that would supersede a lot of the State Laws we are seeing being passed which you alluded to. Also, some of the other things, the rallies want to raise minimum wage, make d. C. A state. Right. Right now in terms of the Voting Legislation it feels like an uphill battle. You have the John Lewis act, the for the people act, and theyre going to a senate where there doesnt seem to be support without Filibuster Reform. What can marches accomplish . Think marches accomplish a lot of things. I think about, you know, it was the 63 march that i believe passed the civil rights act, that passed the Voting Rights act. It was those that marched across the Edmond Pettis Bridge and it will be those who march today. I believe Optics Matter and Reverend Sharpton says it all the time. Were out to show theyre we not here asking for it, to negotiate it, to put it on the back burner, but were here as people collectively with our power saying we are demanding our elected officials pass meaningful voter legislation. It is our crucial right to the right to vote. If we are going to accomplish anything, if we are going to accomplish police accountant, student debt cancellation, all of these things, it happens at that fundamental access to the ballot. I want to talk to you about one of the states where we have seen some of the voting Restrictions Legislation passed, that is texas. We know democratic State Representative Thompson fled to d. C. To stop the vote. She said this, if you think that youre winning today by the things that you are putting in this bill, let me give you a prophetic statement, you will reap what you sow. You know what, it wont be years or decades from now. It will be sooner than you think. What does she mean by that . When i hear her say that, you know, i hear the fact that, you know, the people that stand together cant be divided. If we continue to use our voices in this moment, if we continue to press the needle forward, if we continue to show up as we did today, then we continue to put the pressure on those who are who are in leadership, and what were saying is if you dont get it done, somebody else will. So the people will use use our use our power and vote them out if they cant get the things done that were asking them to get done in this moment. What happens after today . What happens after today is we continue to pressure elected officials. We encourage folks to go back to their home towns. I believe, you know, politics start locally. We encourage them to go to the City Council, go to the state legislatures. We see a lot of these bills are happening at the state level, and so we need you know, we need for elections and we need folks to be voted into office who agree with our values and beliefs. Tylik mcmillan, it has been a pleasure to talk to you. Thank you for spending time with us today. We appreciate it. Much more on todays Voting Rights march is Coming Up at 5 00 on Politics Nation hosted by the reverend Al Sharpton who also is president of the national Action Network of Which Tylik is a huge part of. Coming up, new Vaccine Mandates getting decidedly mixed response. I think it is completely unconstitutional. I dont want to alienate potential customers. As the Delta Variant continues to spread, the state of california announced that people will have to show proof of vaccination to get into indoor events with more than 1,000 people. Some cities in the Bay Area are taking matters into their own hands. Scott cohn is in San Jose, california. We know there was a protest on this very issue. What are people telling you . Reporter yeah, lindsey, this is one of the venues that will be affected by this stricter mandate here in San Jose. It is the s. A. P. Center known around here as the Shark Tank because it is where the San Jose sharks play hockey. It is owned by the city and under the City Ordinance passed this week, anybody over the age of 12 will have to have a proof of vaccination to get in. There were, as you mentioned and as you can see, protests at the City Council meeting before they approved it unanimously. This mandate does not have any sort of an out for, you know, presenting a negative Covid Test as some of the other mandates do. It is vaccination or nothing. Because of that, some of the critics say thats a step too far. I think it is completely unconstitutional that were going to discriminate against people who have not who have chosen not to be vaccinated for whatever reason. Whether it is medical, religious, personal. Just dont believe in forcing anyone to put anything into their body that theyre not okay with. I just would never do that to anybody and i just dont think it is right. Reporter worth noting though, they are very much in the minority according to the most recent polling by the Associated Press which found that by more than a Twotoone Margin the respondents Favor Vaccine mandates at big, crowded venues like sporting arenas. They also this take same poll asked about bars and restaurants, 51 Favor Vaccine mandates. There already is one up in san francisco. At least here in california, it does appear that some sort of mandates are a fact of life, at least for now. Lindsey. All right. Very interesting. Nbcs Scott Cohn in San Jose. Scott, thanks so much. Seven Police Officers who defended the capitol on January 6th filed a Bombshell Lawsuit against the former president , claiming he and allies like Roger Stone conspired to violently overthrow the results of the 2020 election. On top of that, the house January 6th committee issued the first request for documents in their investigation into the capitol riot, demanding records of the former President S movements and communications on January 6th. Joining me right now to break all of this down is former u. S. Attorney and msnbc legal analyst Joyce Vance. Joyce, good afternoon. Good to see you. Lawyers for the Police Officers who filed this lawsuit have said they want to get the suit to the discovery phase. Do you think they will get there and what does that mean . This is a really interesting lawsuit. It is similar to some of the earlier suits we have seen, those brought by congressman eric swalwell, for instance, but the plaintiffs here, the Capitol Police officers, have a particularly compelling case. This is a civil lawsuit. Theyve brought claims ranging from violation of the Ku Klux Klan Act which is a civil Rights Statute to State Provisions in the district of columbia, the equivalent of State Provisions for civil assault and civil battery. Some of these claims look like they really will survive an early motion to dismiss, and this indicates will proceed to discovery which could involve, for instance, depositions of some of the defendants including the former president. Former President Trump tried to claim Executive Privilege in the face of this request for documents from the January 6th committee. Obviously hes no longer a part of the Executive Branch, but we know the house January 6th committee has subpoena power, so why were these requests for documents as opposed to subpoenas and does Executive Privilege apply to former President S and apply to both requests and subpoenas . It is a complicated setting, and here this Opening Move of making requests or demand as Committee Chair Bennie thompson has characterized them rather than Issuing Subpoenas permits voluntary cooperation, particularly from Executive Branch agencies. Thompson has given them a Twoweek Deadline for compliance. If theyre able to compromise and work out a schedule to turn over these materials, that will get them into the hands of the select committee the most quickly. Of course, litigation would involve a little bit more time, and theyre certainly looking to avoid that. Whether trump will be able to assert, successfully assert Executive Privilege is an undecided question. It hasnt been formally decided, but the very strong weight of Evidence And Precedent here suggests that while he might be consulted this decision rests with President Biden and he has previously, for instance, made it possible for Trump Era officials like acting attorney general Jeff Rosen to testify in an unrestricted fashion in front of other congressional committees. So well have to wait and see what happens here. The real problem is that trump could file a lawsuit and try to slow down the process. Ah, okay. And the committee is also looking for material from social media companies. So what do you think they hope to learn . I mean are we talking about private messages, deleted posts . I think All Of The Above and more. Something that you want to do when you are investigating a Quickmoving Event like this is make sure that you are gathering all of the documents and all of the evidence to look for trends, relationships, connection, evidence of communications, perhaps formation of a conspiracy. So the traffic on these platforms as well as specific communications could be very revealing. It will be a heavy Lifting Job to go through all of this and make sense of it, but it is a wealth of data and information for investigators. Joyce, i also want to talk to you about this. A judge in michigan issued a 110page opinion. It was pretty blistering here, punishing trumps lawyers including Sidney Powell and lynwood for their socalled Cracken Lawsuit that falsely claimed Voter Fraud in this state. Do you think that ruling will hold up on appeal . It should hold up on appeal. The standard that the court of appeals in the 6th Circuit where michigan is, the standard that theyll use when they evaluate judge Parkers Decision is whether or not she abused her discretion. She held an extensive hearing, six hours. She went item by Item And Affidavit by affidavit, giving the attorneys that she sanctioned the opportunity to respond and explain their conduct to her and offer some explanation for why it was legitimate, and they totally failed in that regard. So her decision was careful. She has written a 110page blistering opinion. I think this gets affirmed on appeal, at least in the sixth circuit. Perhaps it will head to the Supreme Court from there. Joyce vance, we always appreciate your expertise and your time. Thank you for being with us today. Coming up, a look at republicans calling for the impeachment of President Biden over afghanistan. The full consequences of the withdrawal in afghanistan and President Bidens decisions are yet to be seen. As is any political damage to his legacy. But was there any way for the u. S. To leave afghanistan safely and less chaotic than what weve seen . Joining me now to discuss is jonathan allen, senior national Politics Reporter for Nbc News digital, and david jolly, former member of congress, national chairman of the serve America Movement and an msnbc political contributor. Jonathan, you characterize this as a political stain, saying the damage from the bipartisan criticism and the potentially long arc of the Wars Aftermath could put his fellow democrats in further jeopardy in next years midterm elections. His agenda, they see a need to distance themselves from him. Obviously the Number One concern is getting people out and getting them out safely. But at the same time there are political ramifications. Is President Biden potentially a scapegoat here for a war that has lasted four administrations . Well, first, lindsey, youre absolutely right that the politics will take care of themselves after the next 36 hours or so as these last flights get out of afghanistan. But i do think that there is certainly going to be a tendency on the part of republican lawmakers to scapegoat Joe Biden for more than his share of the burden of any blame for what has happened over the course of the last 20 years in afghanistan. But at the same time, hes taking criticism from his own democratic allies, whether Thats Senate foreign Relations Committee Bob menendez. Obviously the politics of the midterms remain to be seen, but for him to get his agenda done and to have a good term in office, hes going to have to keep the democrats unified and there will be more incentive for them to leave him if this evacuation is not seen as successful. Jonathan, you wrote about the high bar the President Set for himself, vowing to tackle terror and evacuate afghans while keeping the u. S. Troop withdrawal deadline. I mean, we know that tuesday is hard and fast. I heard from congressman John Garamendi from california last hour he believes there will still be some evacuations after that date. How do you see this playing out here not really the next three days . You know, i think that were all praying for americans and american allies to get out of their safely and as many of them as possible. We will see how the rest of that evacuation goes. Obviously the very first part was chaotic and lost 13 u. S. Service members as well as well more than 100 afghans in the Terrorist Attack this week. You know, President Biden, the bar that he set for himself is one that i think is based on the new philosophy of war, which is the united states can attack terrorists and can protect itself without a major force. Thats something thats evolved over the last years whether youre talking about the Drone Technology We Saw used within the last 24 hours to strike isisk and some of the other signals, Intelligence Technology that we have. Were looking at more Discreet Military Precision and what President Biden is saying we dont need troops and its not a good idea to have troops for the time of war that were waging now. David, as jonathan mentioned, republicans are obviously some of the toughest critics of the President S withdrawal and the events that followed. How would it have been different under someone like President Trump that made an agreement with the taliban to withdraw even earlier . Look, well never how it would have been different under donald trump. And i think what we have in Joe Biden is somebody who has told the nation he accepts responsibility for the successes and the failures. That alone is a different style of leadership we would have dprptd donald trump, somebody who always hid the truth, if you consider some of the strikes in iran and the retaliation when he said no casualties, there are 30 u. S. Troops transported to germany. Joe biden owns this moment. He recognizes you can only have one president at a time. He was handed a very hard situation, but he made a decision that he believes is in the national Security Interest of the united states and hes willing to let this play out and make the political case if need be that it was time to withdraw. The reality is now those seven months into Joe Bidens administration the taliban is back in control of afghanistan. That is not likely to inform peoples vote when it comes to election time, but what will inform them is whether or not the united states domestically and our Interests Backdoor are at greater risk or not. Joe biden will have to make the case as to his decision. If we are not at greater risk, he might have the ability to run on withdrawing from afghanistan. David, earlier this year republican senator Josh Hawley tweeted his support for withdrawing troops from afghanistan, saying President Biden should withdraw troops by May 1st as the Trump Administration has planned, better late than never, its time for this war to end. Now hes call for biden to resign. Do you see this as hypocritical . Yes. Republicans are not honest brokers in this conversation. In the reaction calling for impeachment, a resignation, is a palpable level of ignorance that reflects how unserious much of the congress has become. That is unfortunate. And theyre actually overplaying their hand because as we have this conversation now and as jonathan said, that is mixed political bag for Joe Biden and democrats. If republicans seriously address that with some hard questions, was this handled correctly, was it the right decision, americans can have a debate over that. To to Knee Jerk Reaction makes republicans look unserious and it puts Joe Biden in the most serious Leadership Light in this moment. Former Congressman David jolly and jonathan allen, thank you. The national Hurricane Center just released an update on hurricane ida. Lets go straight to Meteorologist Bill karins. A shift in the forecast to the east.
