Behind. What do you do . These are the types of impossible choices that parents across this country are up against. Well talk to one of them in a minute. Headlines like these make it even more frightening. Childrens hospitals, mostly in the south, overwhelmed by a surge in young covid patients. One mom in tulsa spent the last week documenting her Toddlers Battle against covid. Little aurora needed a ventilator. The good news, she is now breathing on her own and will be able to go home soon. You would think stories like these would inspire some gop governors to rethink their war on mask mandates. Just today, the superintendent of Leon County School district in florida announced he will defy Governor Desantis Ban on mask mandates. This comes after Governor Desantis promised to make good on his promise to withhold paychecks. The state says two School Districts must rescind its mandates by this weekend or lose out on pay. This morning on Fox News, the u. S. Surgeon general pushed back against these republican governors pointing out Public Health guidelines in schools, nothing new. You talk about being a parent. What about the idea that other parents should decide whether or not they want their children to wear masks . Well, we know that the greatest protection to children is when all people are masked in school and there are decisions we make all the time where we require people to do things for the better good. We have a list of childhood vaccines for example that parents have to make sure their child has before they start school. This is just one more example of that. So across the country, parents are stuck in a Tug Of War against science and republican leaders trying to please their base. And even parents werent dealing with that specific issue are navigating complicated questions about how to do right by their kids. One of those parents has a new daily Beast Column out today about how his family is navigating the very question i posed at the top of the show. And cofounder and medical director of good stock consulting. I want to start with your story. Tell me about the decision that you and your wife have to make. Our daughter is a stage four Cancer Survivor. She had a full Liver Trans Plant and just on friday, the Virtual School allowed her to enroll. School starts tomorrow, shell be home. However, my son about to turn 7, they have rejected him from virtual learning because they said he doesnt meet the requirements and he will have to go to school. Now if he goes to school, the teachers who are also concerned, even though everyones masked, were going to take it over during pe and during cafeteria. So imagine as Delta Variant is spreading, my son, if he goes to school, im going to risk exposing him. Hes going to come home, we have a stage four Cancer Survivor who just turned 5 who fought for her life. God forbid we expose her. Then we have a baby. So whats the responsible thing i have to do . I have to make a compromise between my Sons Education and my familys health. Tomorrows the first day of school. Im not sending my son to school. These schools are going off of the may guidelines. Theyre saying, oh, look, in may, everything was fine. Well, yeah, but something called Delta Variant happened in june and july so weve had to adapt. So im praying, im hoping, my wife is a doctor, sending emails left and right. Hoping they make an exception for him. Because of right now my son who did it last year because he cares about his sister, he wears masks, social distances, cleans his hands. Much more responsible than Governor Abbott or desantis, hes now going to be behind in school. Well talk about how your kids are behaving better than some of the leaders in this country. Doctor, i saw you shaking your head like this is a Conversation Youve heard before. I mean, its terrifying and i do feel for you and your wife trying to do whats best to protect your children and we can look at mississippi to know just how dire this situation is. But we know if you look at mississippi cases now versus 2020 when they first reopened schools, they have 30 times more cases now. They have as far as teacher case, they have six times more teachers being infected with covid19. If you look at the students being quarantined in mississippi, they literally have 25,000 students having to be quarantined. 12 times the amount of kids in 2020 and we see the children are filling up the icus. When it come to that point, my statement has been always there are more consequences than just death when it comes to covid. That beautiful little girl that required the ventilator that you showed earlier in the show, what does it mean when we stress that little body out to the point of a ventilator . What does it look like when shes 20, 30 years old . Will there be scarring of her lungs that she cannot overcome as were making careless decisions. That can cost the longevity of a Childs Life and it is completely irresponsible and quite frankly, i dont know how we are still here. You underline such a point, which is we dont know what we dont know about this virus. That is the one thing that has become perfectly clear. You write thankfully unlike gop officials, my children are responsible and prolife. They wear their masks in public, practice social distancing, sanitize their hands and are Tror Rowly aware of the dangers of covid19 i mean, what are you supposed to make of that contrast between your kid, who has the Empathy And Responsibility that we except of adults and people who have been elected to lead states who are doing the exact opposite of what Public Health officials are encouraging them to do . Yeah, we choose life. I guess you could say were part of the prolife, anticovid, antideath movement. Because theyve radicalized their base and made masks and Vaccines Part of their cultural work for White Supremacy, they are making our children canaries in the covid coal mine. Look at whats happening in arizona where the governor is threatening to withhold funds for mask mandates. Look whats happening in texas, where Governor Abbott got covid, hell have access to the best healthcare, hell be fine. But hes fine punishing schools and businesses trying to remove Liquor Licenses and Governor Desantis in florida. Theyre doing it for their base, their politics and because they get Fox News appearances. But who suffers . The kids. Our kids are in the icu. Theyre getting sick. Theyre dying and they just dont care. Whats the worst thing about this, what really pisses me off is you have people like Ted Cruz from texas who says no mask mandates, but his children are going to a privileged Private School where there are mask mandates. Theyre going to be fine, but theyre perfectly fine sacrificing our kids making them the canaries for our political agenda. Everyone whos listening now, especially as School Starts as a parent, should be infuriated. Dr. Hilton, i think those of us who are parents are infuriated. I think we are nervous. I think we have more questions than we have answers and we all just want to do the right thing. Part of steering the ship, part of what we long believe is that there are just the right messengers and get out there and talk to people who had hesitancy about this because they had been sold a bad bill of goods. That if people like the former president of the united states got in front of his supporters said go ahead, take the vaccine, that those people would say, okay, lets do it. What We Saw this weekend was the former president at a rally who said take the vaccine and he got booed. The reason thats so alarming to people like the three of us who have been paying attention is that if he cant reach them, right, if these are the reach of the trump antivaccine movement, i am not sure who can reach them. You cant put the horse back in the barn. President trump also told people last week that the companies like Pfizer And Moderna were just trying to make money when they suggested a booster shot. And were looking at even our message center. We have parents saying hey, my child is at risk, but we also have messengers like greg abbott, who has now taken the third vaccine dose, got infected, then got regeneral roan. We have ron desantis, with his major donors, having these regeneron clinics put up. Once youre infected because of my failed policies and absolute rejection of basic Public Health measures, once i risk your life, then come into this clinic. Put money into my pocket and thats my ultimate Bottom Line. It is time for that american people to say that our lives matter. Our childrens lives matter because when were talking about the vaccinated and these booster shots, 12 and under hasnt got theirs yet. Were still not going to go down to 2yearolds. We have newborn children we have to think about that still wont be eligible for vaccines probably up until 2022 and they are willing to risk not only their children, but theyre willing to risk yours and its absolutely unacceptable. Especially when the base of why theyre willing to do this always comes back around to politics, the position, and money and power. What is our Life Worth . Thank you both so much for getting us started. Next, how the situation unfolding in afghanistan could impact the president s very long to do list and later, Vice President Kamala Harris heads to california to campaign for Governor Newsome this week. Plus, the state of washington is requiring all teachers and School Personnel to be vaccinated. Im going ask the states top educator how they plan on implementing this plan and what theyll do if or when some teachers opt out. But first, to melissa whos standing by with a look at the latest developments on tropical storm henri. We are tracking tropical storm henri. It weakened into a slower storm this morning as it moved inland. Its slowing down more tonight. It weakened to a tropical storm and made landfall along the coast of Rhode Island this afternoon with winds up to 60 miles an hour. Now it is stalling near the border of connecticut and New York. The storm left more than 130,000 customers without power. Flooding was seen along the east coast. This from a footage from montauk. This is at the tip of long island, earlier today. Heavy Rain And Flash floods continue to be a Concern Tonight and into tomorrow. Particularly in the hudson valley. Joining me now is kathy park. Shes been Tracking Henri from narragansett. Kathy, hi. What have you been seeing today and what are the conditions right now . Well, melissa, good evening to you. Conditions have dramatically improved. I can tell you that all coastal watches and warnings have been canceled, but obviously it was a much different story earlier today as henri inched closer to shore. We were hit with Heavy Rain bands which led to widespread flooding, waves were crashing on to the shore. Tens of thousands of people are still without power. Meanwhile here in Rhode Island, we are dealing with gusty conditions, but once again, conditions are a lot better than what We Saw earlier today in the Noon Hour and a lot of folks in this area are grateful the situation didnt get much worse. So powerful, it keeps oneupping itself. Can your internet do that . President biden kicked off his presidency with an ambitious to do list and a razor thin majority to get it done. Now hes facing criticism over his handling of the u. S. Exit from afghanistan and in a rare sunday briefing, he vowed he made the right decision. The Bottom Line is this, folks. Look, at the end of the day, if we didnt leave afghanistan now, when do we leave . Another ten years . Another five years . Another year . Im not about to send your son or your daughter to fight in afghanistan. I dont see where that is in our overwhelming interest and the talk about how our interests are going to be impacted. Let me tell you, youre sitting in beijing or moscow, are you happy we left . Theyd Love Nothing better for us to continue to be bogged down there. Totally occupied with whats going on. So the idea this is, i think that historys going to record, this was the logical, rational, and right decision to make. As the president tends with Evacuating Americans and afghans, how does he maintain momentum on his agenda . With me now, Katie Tugman and eliza. I look at that speech in the context of this coming week when congress is going to come back, theyre going to start dealing with the infrastructure deal. Theyre going to deal with reconciliation. Talk to me about what we heard in that speech in the context of what washingtons going to be focused on in this coming week. What biden is talking about here is popular. Leaving afghanistan did have bipartisan Support And Polling shows the american public still supports leaving afghanistan. Now, how the u. S. Left is where biden gets into trouble. Thats not what he was talking about here. He was talking about the part of the conversation that is still popular. This comes as he is facing a lot of opposition in congress. The house is coming back monday and tuesday just like you said, to begin work on the Infrastructure Bill and the larger 3. 5 trillion budget resolution. Those things have to move together or pelosi has vowed to move them together. Some moderates say they want them to be broken into parts and the Infrastructure Bill the move on its own. Right now, theres a standstill. Its not clear either of those things will pass. And those are key parts of bidens agenda. So hes facing a lot of criticism on his foreign policy, but he also faces an Uphill Battle with his domestic policy, which is unusual. Hes enjoyed kind of a Honeymoon Phase until now. I want to ask, i was just speaking with Congressman Torres and i asked him about you know, if Progressives Position on this has changed. He sort of waved me away, its no longer Progressives Position, its the position of the democratic establishment. It was the conversation we were having. This conversation was about progressives. This conversation has become about moderates. Where does it go in this coming week . Right. So that would be the wonderful take on this, that democrats can get on the same page, Move Forward. Pelosi set an October 1st deadline to get both parts of this plan passed. Now there is a hard line with the moderates in the house who are, have made they will not be signing on to the reconciliation plan. So there is a struggle here thats going to persist. That we will probably see given on monday, tuesday, when the house returns then when they Move Forward to vote. But we Cant Bet that everyones going to come together because right now, the stake is making sure at least the bill that passed in the senate passes and then that Swift Movement comes first for bidens priorities here. And so eliza, talk to me about what it is that moderates want and what it is going to take for pelosi to get them on board with the way that she sees them going down and the role that this administration is supposed to play in this coming week in making sure the democrats hold the line . Right. I think its important to start out, pelosi can lose three votes. The nine people saying they will vote against this bill is actually a problem for her if they all stick to them. But basically, the senate passed an Infrastructure Package about a 1 Trillion bipartisan Infrastructure Package then it began the process of the 3. 5 trillion basically chock full of democratic wish list. Child tax credit. Expanding What Medicare covers. Affordable housing. Climate change. Things democrats have wanted for a long time in this bill. They say theyll pay for it by raising taxes on the wealthy and corporations. So the senate passed the Infrastructure Package. Began the process on the bill. The moderates say lets just pass this Infrastructure Package on its own, have biden sign it and begin that then move on to the 3. 5 trillion package. The problem with that is those progressives you mentioned before didnt want that to happen and so pelosi promised she would move them at the same time, but like you mentioned, its now become the mainstream idea. The White House has endorsed this idea. I talked to james clyburn, the democratic whip the other day. He acted like it was ridiculous for the moderates to be pushing a separate package. So most of the democratic caucus is on board with moving these two bills at the same time, even if it means the Infrastructure Package waits another couple of months. As we were waiting to listen to the president s remarks today, one of my colleagues, its an opportunity for the president to look president ial in the face of his first storm. She was speaking about tropical storm henri. I think you could say that that storm is what is happening in afghanistan is also the Covid Crisis that were continuing to deal with here at home. You look at the polling of the new Nbc News Polling that we have out today. It really is covid and covid Frustration And Fatigue that has the attention of many american voters. Where does the biden administration go on this specific piece . Right. And so that goes back to your point in which biden has set so many ambitious goals. To get so many people vaccinated in his first 100 days. Thats didnt happen. 93 of the u. S. Population is in the high Covid Transmission area. Now the troops getting out of afghanistan by the 20th Anniversary of the 9 11 attacks. That is not happening right now. That is happening, but right now, We Saw this week, 6,000 troops being sent back in for the evacuation effort. That culminates into domestic, covid is the Number One priority for a lot of americans. Its what theyre facing right now as opposed to whats happening with our allies. Like i said, the Transmission Rate is very high. Were seeing reopenings. The Delta Variant is raging across the united states and as we see states battling against mandates, this is going to be a top issue for biden. Given he set out the goals so early on making sure the u. S. Was vaccinated, hes even said this is a pandemic of the unvaccinated and if you cant reach those folks, just as you were talking about trump not being able to reach his base, if he cant reach those who are unvaccinated, hes in for a long road ahead. Thank you both. Next, the republican effort to recall California Governor newsom and the conservative Talk Show Host causing concern for some. Youre going to hear about Larry Elder, next. Kamala harris is heading to our home state. Shes urging californians against Gavin Newsom. Found a tight split between keeping or wanting to remove him. Polling also shows that the trump supporting conservative Talk Show Host, Larry Elder, is leading as a possible replacement. But who is he and what impact would he have on the democratic state . Including the separating of migrant families under the Zero Tolerance policy. My next guest writes for the New York times, if elder is elected, life will get harder for black americans. She joins me now. Shes an investigative Journalist And Author of jean, tell me whats on the line here. There is so much at stake in this election for latinos, for black communities, for communities of color overall. All of the progress that california has made on Immigrant Rights, on racial justice issues, could be in jeopardy. Is in jeopardy in this election because the leading candidate, Larry Elder, has pledged to reverse sanctuary laws. He doesnt believe in instate tuition for dreamers. He doesnt believe in drivers licenses for undocumented immigrants. All of these programs that california has been a leader on as far as Immigrant Rights and protecting immigrants and making the communities feel safe and thus improving Public Safety on our economic prosperity, all of them are things he wants to attack. This is a man who is to the right of Donald Trump on immigration issues, which is no surprise given the fact he mentored steven miller. He even defended the most controversial Immigration Policy to come out of this administration. He defended the family separation policy. As i wrote in my column, this is a man whos made a career out of denying the fact of systemic racism by using false stats that paint black people as more violent than white people. Stats that i found based on my analysis of Larry Elders writings come from a white Su Supremacist who Larry Elder repeatedly quoted in his books and as recently as 2016, he was featuring a white Nationalist Website on his site. I feel like theres just not enough information out there about the incredible danger that this man poses to Immigrant Rights and racial justice issues. So, jean, im going to imagine that a lot of people in our audience have the same question that i have as i listen to you tick through the history of Larry Elder, which is how is it possible that a state like california, when californians are polled about this, are showing him to be a, if not the Lead Contender to go up against gavin . Well, one of the problems i think is the fact theres so little information. The democrats are not doing a good job of outreach to latino communities who have the most at stake in this election. And i think theres a lot of complacency. In part, because people think theres no way such a right Wing Person could become leader of california, but this is by nature a democratic election. It does not matter if more people vote to keep Gavin Newsom in office. There are far fewer people that vote for elder, he could still become the next governor of california and again, this is a man whose views have been shaped by an open White Supremacist who as i said is named Jared Taylor and believes in a white Majority Country and who has, who wrote a classic called the color of prime, which uses all sorts of distorted statistics about black communities. Jean, let me, i want to ask you, because the Vice President is headed to california. What is it that you think californians need to hear from her . I mean, californians need to hear that they need to show up. They need to, regardless of how they feel about governor newsom, there is a lot of valid discontent with you know, some of the things that he did during the pandemic, but he has done, you know, the best that he can and we will have an opportunity to vote him out if we want to in the next real democratic election. What needs to happen now is that latinos turn out. That democrats turn out and vote no on this Recall Election because the alternative would be disastrous not only for california. It would set a nightmarish precedent that would reverberate across the united states and be especially devastating for black and latino people. Elder says he plans to use the bully pulpit. He plans to use dehumanizing terms like illegal aliens. He doesnt believe in terms like undocumented. This will lead to a rise in Hate Crimes which were already seeing a rise. And this would just be devastating for communities of color in a time where we really just cant have anymore of this. Jean, as always, thank you for your time. Next, the state of washington went all in. Requiring all teachers and staff to be vaccinated against the coronavirus vaccine. Im going to ask the States Superintendent of Public Instruction about what the reaction has been from educators across the state. And later, what the 2020 census data can and cant tell us about the future of our political landscape. Us about the future of our political landscape. Tion overwh . The governor has just instituted the nations strictest Vaccine Mandate for teachers. Public, private, and Charter School Staff in Washington State must be fully vaccinated by October 18th or risk getting fired. We are well past the point where testing is enough to keep people safe. Weve tried it. It is not been adequate to the task at hand. We need to be clear. Ultimately theres one way out of this problem. And its through vaccination. Joining me now is the Washington State superintendent of Public Instruction. Thank you so much for being with us. What are you hearing from School Staff and parents about the Vaccine Mandate . Well thank you for having me. You know, i think what were consistently hearing is an understanding that under alpha, dangerous enough as it was, Universal Masking was a huge part of our success, but not against delta. So great understanding in a state that has more than 72 vaccinated. I think they expect us to push harder, but its not without controversy, obviously. There are some who are frustrated by it and dont want to do it. There are medical and religion exemptions possible, but we think this is essential with delta. This is unlike anything weve seen with this virus. Explain how the religious exemption works. Theres a long history to this. Weve had other sectors who have been with us for a long time. Have asked folks to vaccinate for a long time. It is a sincerely held religious belief. There are some federal Eoc And Title seven language around it, so its about individuals attesting to their true, sincere belief about this. Its not as simple as checking a box. You have to describe your sincere believes but theres also a legal presumption that you believe when they say that. So it comes down to folks being truthful and having integrity. This will improve vaccination. Keep our staff safer, our students safer. But some will choose an exception and that is their legal right. You wrote in july that any washington School District interfering with the governors covid policies would lose state and federal funding. Are you prepared to follow through with that . We are. In our state as in most states, the governors Executive Order in time of crisis has the power of law and we will enforce that. So far, we dont see any School Boards stepping outside of that. But were prepared to do that. I hope it speaks to the seriousness of this. Theres a free vaccine out there that is effective. Hundreds of millions of folks in the united states have received it safely. Billions around the world. The most inexpensive and safe way to protect our kids and our educators is masks and vaccine. Thats what were requiring. It sure beats the consequences of significant infection and hospitalizations and obviously were trying to avoid that. The governor says the mandate covers around 155,000 school employees. Do you have a sense of how many have already gotten their shots . We survey periodically about that, but right now, were not able to plot that on individuals so we think its about 75 plus of our teaching staff. Maybe lower in some of our other employee groups. Of our state, 72 . So weve got a ways to go. Were not quite there, but were trying to get to that 90 and really be a state that maintains its safety measures. 2. 5 of the u. S. Population, but 1 of hospitalizations and loss of life. We have done a great job of putting safety first and will put Kid And Educator safety above anything else. Thank you for your time. You argue quote the fact that fewer americans identify as white in the 2020 census than did ten years before does not spell doom for the republican party now herald an era of political dominance for the democrats despite the forlorn cries of those committed lest conservatism than those who they consider white. What are people, adam, who are trying to read the Tea Leaves of the census data, getting wrong . So i think you know that theres a kind of Apock Lip Tick rhetoric in the Nativist Trumpy Corners of the internet that the country becoming more diverse is going to be the end of the republican party. You can see some of that on the liberal side as well. This idea that because the countrys getting more diverse and democrats rely more on the votes of black and latino voters than the republican party do that this is good for them. But the truth is the borders of race, which is a biological fiction, you know are constantly shifting in the united states. In the early 20th century, where he passed all these Immigration Laws to keep people who are considered a lesser form of white, jews, italians, greeks, from coming to the united states. And now, you know, these communities are all very mainstream and considered, you know, not really seen as a people apart from the rest of the, rest the other americans. So its very, its a mistake to assume that just because more people are identifying as nonwhite that that necessarily means those people are going to end up being liberal because political identities and racial identities are constantly shifting. I would add to your excellent analysis that if you looked at the instrument and the way it was shaped when they were asking the question, it was asked in a different way than it was asked ten years ago which rendered a much more accurate snapshot of the way americans are now thinking about race and identifying. This Gop Anxiety over a change in america playing out in states as republican lawmakers work to suppress the vote, how are you connecting these two ideas . Well, i just think, you know, that you could see these laws targeting constituencies that they perceive as voting democratic, but i think its a mistake for them that they Cant Vote Republican and those communities tend to be culturally or traditionally conservative but they vote democratic either because they are more liberal or because they view the republican party as hostile to them. But if you, as We Saw in the 2020 election, there were a lot of latino communities in particular, along the Rio Grande Valley or in South Florida that found trumps message in 2020 appealing. So you know, despite the Sort S of fears that the republican party has about this and the measures that they are taking to try and disenfranchise some of these communities, i think not only is it wrong to do that but because everybody should get the chance and the equal opportunity to vote, but its also wrong to assume that they cant persuade these communities to vote for them. Its a selffulfilling prophecy. As ive watched and wondered, is the thinking like lets just get through 2022 and 2024 and then well revert to the whole Autopsy Report we did a decade ago when we were asking questions about how being republicans could reach out to communities of color . It seems as though theres short of a shortterm play thats not considering the long term. Yeah, i think what they are going to do what seemed very successful for trump so trump did better in 2020 than people expected him to do and did better in 2016 than people expected him to do so the path for the republican party forward is try to imitate trump as much as possible. Until that creates the kind of backlash where they pay a serious political cost, more serious than the one that they paid in 2020, they are not going to depart from his particular style of white Identity Politics and look, you know, they succeeded in making some inroads in minority communities despite that so for them they see it as a winwin situation. Kelly is facing charges for Sex Trafficking and racketeering. He denies all wrongdoing. Most of kellys alleged victims are black women, a first among highprofile cases in the me, too movement. Black female accusers have traditionally been the most dismissed, most disregarded, most cast aside. That is according to Law Professor Debra turkheimer in the New York times. If those women are able to be believed and have jurors care enough to convict, that matters. Joining me now the cofounder of the mute r. Kelly movement. For those who have not been paying attention or not been following this case as closely as you have, tell me what it has taken to get to this moment. It has taken years. It has taken many years. It has taken the dedication of countless activists, journalists and survivors to really say enough is enough. You mentioned in your opening that black women have really dismal outcomes when it comes to how they are perceived as victims in sexual crimes and theres actually data to back that up. Over 60 of black women will be a survivor of Sexual Violence before her 18th birthday. Less than 3 of cases for Sexual Assault in the united states actually leads to a conviction and that number is significantly less when the victims are black women, so r. Kelly being a Black Man who is seen by the black community as an icon, as someone who got out and as sort of protected under the umbrella of White Supremacy and the overincarceration of black men and these girls being someone who historically have not been bebelieved, have been adultified, it was a perfect storm. These were girls that No One cared about, and this is someone that the black community protebtd, and that is primarily the reason why it took so long and such a concerted effort like mute r. Kelly and me, too, and so many other activists who have been working on this for decade. Kenyette, in this case to you, what does accountability look like and what does justice look like . Justice looks like, unfortunately, conviction, and in the united States Conviction includes incarceration, and as an activist who organized this, the idea that this campaign would lead to incarceration of another Black Man was something that i grappled with. However, i had to parse apart the overincarceration of black men in the united states and look at this from the lens, from the introspectional lens to use the language of dr. Kem Berle Crenshaw is, that you know, Sexual Violence is based on Parrot Crashingal oppression and that does not have it a color to it and when we look at r. Kelly, his accountability in addition to the criminal justice accountability, its also a call in to the community. Its also a call in to area deejays and people who play this music and people who try to create narratives to defend his horrific behavior. It creates a conversation, and accountability for him looks like he gets to be convicted and for the community, our accountability is that we have to unpack what it was that allowed this horrific behavior to exist for over 30 years. Kenyette, thank you so much for your time. Thats all the time i have for today. Ill see you back here next weekend 6 00 p. M. Eastern. More morrin voices, but for now i hand it over to Mehdi Hasan. We now live in an america where democracy hangs by the thread and political violence is fast becoming the norm. Consider the every much past few days and the coming days. This Week House democrats are poised to pass a sweeping Election Bill that would undo many of the provisions in the Voting Rights act that have been struck down by the supreme court. Congresswoman Terry Sewell introduced a bill this week against the backdrop of the edmund Pettus Bridge in selma, alabama, site of the bloody Sunday Protest march. The bills namesake, the late congressman john lewis, marched in selma. He suffered a Skull Fracture and bore scars from the beatingse
