Oh, he says much worse in a new book. And the authors are here to talk about it. Im Jonathan Capehart. This is the sunday show. This sunday it is full steam ahead at the capitol, where in less than 48 hours lawmakers will gavel in for first scheduled hearing of the January 6th select committee. Capitol hill and metropolitan Police Officers are expected to give their personal accounts of that harrowing day. But the time and place of the hearing is about all we know. Since plans to create a more bipartisan committee crumbled this week. Now, republicans are threatening to run their own investigation after Speaker Pelosi vetoed Kevin Mccarthys, quote, ridiculous appointments of trump sycophants Jim Jordan and Jim Banks to the slate. It is my responsibility as Speaker Of The House to make sure we get to the truth on this, and we will not let their antics stand in the way of that. Joining me now is mississippi congressman benny thompson, chair of the House Homeland Security Committee And Leader of the select committee to investigate January 6th. Congressman thompson, thank you very much for coming back to the sunday show. I want to get your reaction to news that broke on abcs this week, Speaker Pelosi announcing that Adam Kinzinger will join the committee. Your reaction to that . Well, the congressman is a welcome addition to the committee. Hes demonstrated that he can express his opinion, despite what some of his republican colleagues might want him not to express. So independent voice to this select committee is always welcome. Do should we plan on hearing about more republicans joining the Select Committee Chosen by Speaker Pelosi . Well, as you know, there are five people who can be nominated on the republican side. We now have four other vacancies left with the other individuals pulling out. I look forward to that. I would love to have a full complement. This January 6th riot impacted republicans and democrats also. It impacted our democracy. And the individuals who did it, our scope of the committee, were tasked with making sure we find all the facts and circumstances around it, and make sure that it doesnt happen again. So i welcome the participation. But i think from the Vantage Point of the public we have to get it right. Speaker pelosi was absolutely correct in denying the other two Members Participation on this committee. They would have been a distraction and we absolutely dont need that at this time. In fact, congressman thompson, chairman thompson, the question i just asked you about more republicans on your committee was asked of the speaker. Lets have a listen to what she said. Will you be appointing more republicans to the committee, like congressman Adam Kinzinger . That would be my plan. I wanted to appoint three members that Leader Mccarthy suggested, but he withdrew their names. The two that i would not appoint are people who would jeopardize the integrity of the investigation. And there is no way i would tolerate their antics as we seek the truth. You know, chairman thompson, one of the questions i think a lot of people are wondering is this, if you dont have republicans who are on your on the select committee appointed by republican leadership, are you worried about questions of your perceived legitimacy of not only the hearings, but the conclusions you come out with . Well, i think it is a good question. Once you see how we conduct the investigation, the scope and the depth that we will participate in that investigation, im convinced the public will understand it. Now, there are some people as you know who will tell you that January 6th was equivalent of a tour of the capitol. So there are some people that their minds are made up and wont change. But im convinced that the right kind of Work Product that we produce will get a buyin from the public. Im looking forward to it. As you know, we attempted early on to get a commission, not made up of members of congress, but made up of people from the general public. But republican leadership shot that down. Leader mccarthy said he didnt want it after negotiating it. So i think it is fitting and proper, exactly House Bill 503 that the house passed, now were in the business, and i want to say, on July 27th will be 202 days after the January 6th riot. Thats absolutely too long for congress to take an Oversight Responsibility on looking into what happened and guarantee that it never happens again. So were where we need to be. Im committed to it. The other members of the commission, we might have one member be absent from any of our sessions. They take it seriously. And i think you will see after tuesdays hearing, which were trying to set predicate, to make sure that the Rank And File individuals who saved this democracy, i shudder to think if those rioters had succeeded in breaching the capitol even more than they did where our democracy would be today. So we want to honor those heroes who defended the capitol on January 6th by hearing from their testimony. I was going to play you audio of Donald Trump talking to my colleagues for their book where he calls the it was a large crowd, a loving crowd, and the Capitol Police let them in. You were in the capitol on January 6th. And in less than a minute that we have left, your recollections of that harrowing day. It was a terrible day, jonathan. First of all, those of us who didnt have security details didnt know what was going on because we were left in the building. The speaker and others had been escorted out. So for about an hour we were left only to what we thought was going on, what our family and friends were calling us, telling us, what was going on, we heard the shot of the lady who ultimately died trying to break in to hurt us, so it was a very harrowing experience. And only until we were allowed to leave did we see Capitol Police having individuals spread eagle on the floor, right among us, we did not know of the terrible times. So we came here close to losing this democracy and i want to make sure as chairman that we make sure that it never, ever happens again. This week could finally be the long awaited Infrastructure Week on capitol hill. One of the senate negotiators republican Senator Bill Cassidy says the bipartisan group hes working with could reach a deal as early as monday. But will a deal worked out by both parties members appeal to their colleagues. I spoke to Chris Coons of delaware to find out. Joining us now, Chris Coons of delaware, welcome back to the sunday show. It is great to be with you, jonathan. From everything we hear out there, a deal is imminent, were possibly going to see something tomorrow. Are you as confident were going to see a Deal Tomorrow . Jonathan, im optimistic. I know this has been a long road. But this is a big deal. It is 579-billion'>579 Billion in new Infrastructure Spending, and thats going to translate to something like 650,000 new high skilled, high wage jobs, good union jobs, all over the country, connecting families to the internet through expanded broadband, replacing Lead Pipes in homes and schools, and modernizing our roads and bridges, our tunnels, highways, and a personal favorite of mine, passenger rail. So i am optimistic that well close this deal, this week. We have a few issues still to work through. But i think this is the week we get the Infrastructure Bill to the floor. All right, that sounds good. However, there still seems to be some hangups here and there late into the week. There is talk about hangups over transit funding. Lets have a listen to what Senator Portman had to say about that. Transit funding has not yet been resolved. If we cant resolve it, we could leave that out. I hope not. But democrats frankly are not being reasonable in their requests right now. We had a very generous offer out there that provides significant increase in funding over the next five years. Over 80 increase in funding. And then, Senator Coons, they said we will not cut the traditional investment of Transit Programs in the highway trust fund. Robust funding for transit must be included in the legislation. We will not support any package that neglects this fundamental part of our nations infrastructure. Youre still optimistic were going to see a Deal Tomorrow . Well, jonathan, that makes it very clear how important transit is. It is not the only significant issue, but it is one of the most important ones. Senator carper is chairman of the public works committee. And senator brown chairman of the banking committee, their support is critical. And im confident that will be worked out, but it is a reminder that in a bill this big, that crosses so many different committees and jurisdictions, getting to the final deal is challenging. It is going to be worth it, ultimately this will support 1. 2 trillion in new Infrastructure Spending over eight years, and the 579-billion'>579 Billion is new spending, and frankly, jonathan, thats a big deal. There is also pieces that we have to do in this bipartisan bill. We cant just move them over into the democrats only Reconciliation Bill that we will also have to take up and pass before we can leave for august recess. And then a nice segue into what i was going to ask you next, something youre involved in, it is a bill that you are supporting and it is one on emissions tax bill, the plan calls for federal agencies to calculate the environmental cost incurred from complying with any federal state, regional or local law regulation, Policy Or Program designed to reduce emissions. Another complication is that while the poorest countries would be exempt from paying the tariff, it would be up to u. S. Agencies to determine whether Trading Partners are enforcing Climate Change Laws so on and so forth. Are you concerned that your bill could be another thing that could not derail, but slow down the momentum to tomorrows impending deal . Well, jonathan, lets be clear, what you were just describing is a bill ive just introduced that is a Polluter Fee that would be part of the democrats only budget Reconciliation Bill before we leave for august we need to pass the framework, the details of that bill will likely be worked out in the early fall. We have to pass the Budget Framework before we can leave. And thats 3. 5 trillion. But what you were just describing is a Polluter Fee so that imports of things like Steel And Concrete that are coming from countries like china that really hasnt stepped up to Climate Ambition would face an increased incoming fee. There is other parts of the reconciliation package, like Civilian Climate Accord im excited about. It is a bold and robust package of climate provisions. There is also, jonathan, important provisions about climate in this bipartisan Infrastructure Bill. Big investments in resiliency, in modernizing our electric grid, and in demonstrating new clean energy technologies. So were going to make significant progress in combatting climate in both bills this month. Senator coons, thank you for the clarification on your emissions tax bill. The Climate Corps being also part of that, but also i think a lot of progressives wonder whether climate issues at all are going to be in this bipartisan bill you have just told us that they are there and so im sure they will be thrilled to hear that. Senator Chris Coons of delaware, thank you for coming back to the sunday show. Thank you, jonathan. Joining me now is democratic Congresswoman Jayapal of washington, chair of the house progressive caucus. Congresswoman jayapal, thank you for coming back to the sunday show. Great to see you as always, jonathan. So as chair of the house progressive caucus, you heard Senator Coons talking about climate things in the bipartisan bill and the Reconciliation Bill. I know you have concerns about what theyre going to do in terms of addressing transit. From everything that you have seen reported and that you may be hearing on the hill, how confident are you that that bipartisan bill will meet all the things you want addressed when it comes to climate . Well, i was encouraged to hear Senator Coons but I Cant say i have a great level of confidence yet because we continue to hear different things about the bipartisan bill and we still dont have a bipartisan bill. It was supposed to be done, frankly, months ago and we have continued to wait. And so the urgency around this is not so much the bipartisan bill, it is the Reconciliation Bill. Because understand every minute we delay on the bipartisan bill, were also delaying on the Reconciliation Bill. So when the senator talks about the civilian Climate Corps and the clean energy standards, those are in the Reconciliation Bill. Those are not in the bipartisan bill. We would have been happy if, for example, the entire month of transit that the president had asked for, that the house passed, in the invest act and other things, if all of it wasnt in the bipartisan bill, but the rest of it was in the Reconciliation Bill, that would have been fine with us, you know. I dont care which bill it goes in, i just want to make sure that we are actually addressing the Number One source of emissions, because if we are going to get to the president s goal of reductions in emissions that he laid out, then we are going to have to address transportation. So if we dont have the policy in the bipartisan bill, that is going to be a problem because you cant put policy as you know into the Reconciliation Bill. It is very i hope that was clear. But our focus has been on the Reconciliation Bill and i want to say, progressives are thrilled that our top five priorities have ended up in the Reconciliation Bill, of course, we would like the numbers to be a little higher in a few of the categories, so thats what were working on right now. But lets be clear that the Reconciliation Bill is a massive down Payment And Victory for progressives and we have to pass that. Okay. All right. So, the framework the bill were about to see tomorrow is the bipartisan the bipartisan legislation which is democrats and republicans and it is being done this way because it will get the 60 votes needed to overcome a filibuster. The Reconciliation Bill is one that is being done with democrats only, that because of reconciliation it only needs to pass by a simple majority. I get that whole technical lesson because my question to you, congresswoman, is how confident are you that the Reconciliation Bill will actually pass out of the senate . Because even within the democratic caucus, all yall are not in agreement on the senate side, i mean. Well, i think absolutely the Reconciliation Bill will pass. The only reason that we have been, you know, essentially allowing this bipartisan drama to go on for months is because we understand there are a few senators who want to have a bipartisan bill. Fine. But i am talking, jonathan, about the urgency of what were going to accomplish in the Reconciliation Bill. I just looked at numbers this morning that said one in three americans have less in savings than they did prepandemic. And you know 40 of americans didnt even have 400 Bucks in their bank account. We are going to see 3. 6 million people either very likely or somewhat likely to lose their home in the next two months. So we need to pass this Reconciliation Bill with urgency. We need to take on climate change. We need to take on the care economy. We need to take on immigration for essential workers. We need to make sure that we are passing real health reforms to give People Health benefits like dental, Vision And Hearing when, you know, expanding medicare to do that and lowering the age. And we need to make sure that at the end of the day we are giving people the opportunity to wake up feeling differently about their lives in an economy that is privileged, the wealthy and the largest corporations for way too long. Okay, so having said all that, yes or no, if the bipartisan the bipartisan bill passes the senate, but the Reconciliation Bill does not, if the bipartisan bill comes over to the house for a vote, would you vote for it . No. The two have to go together. I have said that for three months, the speaker has said that. The Senate Majority Leader has said that. I believe everybody knows the two must go together. And so that is very clear, and thats why every minute we delay on the bipartisan bill means a delay on the Reconciliation Bill. So lets get this done together, lets make sure were addressing the issues, and putting on the table what the american people want us to do. I mean, i think i knew the answer was going to be no, but i just was doublechecking. Congresswoman jayapal, thank you very much for coming back to the sunday show. Coming up, dr. But its time to start blaming the unvaccinated folks, not the regular folks, it is the unvaccinated folks that letting us down. Ive done all i know how to do. I can encourage you to do something, but I Cant make you take Care Of yourself. Some of them are very late to the game, but republicans like the governor of alabama there are finally aggressively pushing covid vaccines. Vaccination rates are now ticking up in the hardest hit states, but with only 57 of those eligible for the shot, fully vaccinated, and the highly contagious Delta Variant runing rampant, is more action needed. Joining me now, dr. Anthony fauci, chief medical adviser to President Biden. Dr. Fauci, thank you very much for coming back to the sunday show. I would love your reaction to governor ivey. Well, one can certainly understand her frustration. She realizes now how important it is for people to get vaccinated and she understands that the outbreak is an outbreak among the unvaccinated predominantly. Not exclusively, but overwhelmingly, predominantly. And shes expressing understandable frustration about getting people to get vaccinated. I mean, the data are very, very clear, jonathan, we know it is going on, and we have an effective tool to blunt this. And it just doesnt make any sense not to utilize fully that tool. And thats exactly what the governor was actually making a Point Of. You know, youre talking about data and my mind went to another set of data and that is this poll from the ap of the unvaccinated, of unvaccinated americans, 40 say they definitely wont get a shot. And then another 30 say they probably wont get a shot. If my math is correct, and 64 have little to no confidence that the shots are effective against variants, but 80 , if my math is right, basically saying they wont get the shot. I mean, im done trying to convince people who dont want to get the shot to get the shot. Talk about the impact of the unvaccinated on the rest of us. Well, the impact, jonathan, is that youre going to have the propagation of an outbreak that will continue to smolder. Youll have suffering on the part of the people who are unvaccinated. There will be some, not very many, we hope, but there will Somebody Breakthrough infections even among the vaccinated. So as long as you have circulating virus in the community, which is predominantly because people are not getting vaccinated, then they hurt themselves. And you dont want to see that because among those are people that are going to wind up getting hospitalized and some of them are going to die. Thats the individual impact on those who dont want to get vaccinated, but there is a broader societal impact, jonathan, and that if you allow the virus to freely circulate because so many people are unvaccinated, you give it yet again another opportunity to mutate even more and you may wind up with creating a variant that in fact eludes the protection of the vaccine. Were very fortunate that even though this Delta Variant is a real bad actor in the sense of being highly transmissible, for the most part the vaccines work very well against it, particularly in protecting you from severe disease leading to hospitalization. You let the virus circulate, you may get a variant that is even worse. Dr. Fauci, you mentioned Breakthrough Infections and for those of us, im fully vaccinated. How concerned should i be if i were to test positive for covid, what would the impact be on me, someone vaccinated, Testing Positive for covid . Yeah. Yeah. Well, jonathan, the impact on you likely if you look at the statistics is that overwhelmingly you would get either no symptoms or minimally symptomatic. It would be extremely unusual for you to develop serious covid19 disease. Assuming you are and you look pretty good, youre an otherwise healthy person, but there are some people who may be immunosuppressed, people who have an underlying malignancy theyre being treated for, Autoimmune Disease that is requiring immunosuppressant therapy. Those are the ones most vulnerable. For the otherwise healthy individual, if you got a breakthrough infection, the statistics tell us that it is very likely that your infection would be either asymptomatic or minimally symptomatic. And dr. Fauci, in less than a minute we have left, a lot of the stories both on the front page of the Washington Post and the front page of the New York Times and within our stories quoting experts and physicians and scientists, concerned about what were going to see in the fall. How concerned are you that come this Fall Covid Infection rates, hospitalization rates, death rates, will all go up and then we will be back where we were this time a year ago . Well, jonathan, if you look, you know, you did a lot of accurate math there. But the other part of the math tells you if we stay where we are right now, with regard to unvaccinated, of those people who are eligible to get vaccinated you probably have like 100 Million people who are not vaccinated. With that many unvaccinated people, going into the fall, with the Delta Variant as efficient as it is in transmitting, we can have a really serious problem with a considerable surge of infections. I dont know how bad it would be. Models tell you it could be pretty bad, but it certainly is not going to be good. We could be in trouble if we dont do a much, much better job of getting a lot more people vaccinated. Yeah, folks need to get the vaccine. The Sanctions Target one of cubas military leaders and a special Force Unit known as the black berets. In haiti, Shots Rang out near the funeral of jovenel moise, sending these journalists fleeing. It also forced the u. S. Delegation that travelled to haiti, including u. N. Ambassador Linda Thomas Greenfield to make a quick about face. Joining me now is debbie powell, congresswoman, thank you for coming to the sunday show. Good morning, jonathan. Let me get your reaction to the sanctions imposed by the united states. Look, i applaud President Biden for being decisive, consistent, and condemning the failed system, the communist regime of cuba, which has been committing Human Rights abuses for more than 60 years. I think that this is a beginning, it is the first right step to take, these targeted sanctions are going to put them on call, making sure that they know that the united states is going to stand behind the cuban people. I think it is incredibly important also for the u. S. To work closely with our allies, with the organization of american states, with the united nations, to ensure we put pressure in the regime that has oppressed cubans for decades. We need to listen to the cuban people. They are demanding freedom. They have been marching on the streets really threatening their lives. There have been hundreds of mass detentions. Many people have disappeared. And i think that the united States Government is prurg the cuban regime to ensure that they listen to their people in their demands for freedom and democracy. And yet there seems to be there is a bit of a split in sort of public thought on what the united states should do, visavis cuba. I want to put there was a tweet from alexandria ocasiocortez. She said our 60yearold embargo, i reject the defense of the embargo, it is never acceptable for us to use cruelty as a Point Of leverage against a people. You responded to her and we have that up there. No, this is not correct. It is the failed policies of a communist regime that has violated Human Rights, people are risking their lives to Rise Up. We must listen to them. This is a matter of national security. The u. S. Must act. What more do you want to see from the biden administration when it comes to cuba . I think one of the things yeah, thank you, jonathan, i think it is incredibly important for the entire country to understand that the one government that we need to blame here is the failed regime of cuba. Nothing else. I think it is incredibly insulting for anyone to assume that it is anything else except the repressive regime we have seen the dictatorship in cuba, and i think the biden administration has been very decisive and is prioritizing rightly so what is happening in cuba by asking the Department Of State and the department of treasury to focus on what other steps we need to take to put pressure on the cuban regime. I think it is very important we work closely with our international partners, spain being one of them, i also think that we need to support cubans here that are demanding that the cuban Family Reunification Program gets reinstated. That was one day to the next, it was ended by the Trump Administration, and we have thousands of families here that are waiting for their Family Members to come to be reunited with their families here in the united states. If you remember, jonathan, the Trump Administration deported thousands of cubans at the border and refused to process any asylum requests. We have the situation happening in cuba. We have the situation happening in haiti. In years past when things happened on both those nations, people from those countries make their way to the united states more often than not by sea. Have a listen to what Homeland Security Secretary mayorkas the message he had for the people of cuba and haiti. The time is never right to tempt migration by sea. To those who risk their lives doing so, this risk is not worth taking. Congresswoman, we have less than a minute left. Your reaction to the Homeland Security Secretarys message . I absolutely agree. It is extremely dangerous for families to try to pass and cross the florida straits. We have seen many people lose their lives, children losing their lives. But theyre desperate and thats why i think it is absolutely necessary for the u. S. To look at the Parole Options for haitians, for cubans. Lets remember theyre trying to flee violence, famine, political persecution, it is extremely dangerous. It is really threatening the security of the region and thats why it should be and must reman a priority for the united states. Right now, my phone never stops ringing. Good afternoon, Lee Merritt on behalf of the family of ahmaud arbery. This is the family of ronald green, louisiana. We just met with the District Attorney with the family of both. These terrible tragedies across our state, our country, we dont Step Up to respond to save lives to protect the people, No One will. Im running for Texas Attorney general, because we all have a responsibility to uphold the constitution. So everyone is afforded equal rights under the law. Prominent civil Rights Attorney is mounting a campaign to be the next Attorney General of texas. Hes garnered praise for his involvement in several high profile cases of black people killed by police. And is now vying to be the first democrat to win a state wide election in texas since 1994. He is Lee Merritt, candidate for Texas Attorney general. Mr. Merritt, welcome to the sunday show. Thank you so much for having me. Glad to be here. Okay. So, no democrat has won state wide in texas since 1994. Why are you running . Well, i believe that texas is in trouble. We have seen in national news texas stepped up in taking Front And Center Voter Suppression, the government is trying to take family off their health insurance, womens rights are under attack. And texas deserves a constitutional lawyer willing to stand up for the people. Youre right, it has been over 20 years since a democrat has won state wide in texas. But the margin in the last election was just under 4 and i think we bring new energy to the race. You mentioned texas being at the forefront of Voting Rights and i would love to get your reaction to the Texas State the representatives, texas democrats, who left the states to deny the republicans a Dwor Rum and come to washington and a fight on behalf of Voting Rights. What, as candidate for Attorney General, what would you say to them about what theyre doing . I spoke with representatives before they made the decision to leave. I encouraged them to fight as hard as they could to ensure every texas has their Voting Rights protected. I think the legislation theyre opposing is particularly dangerous in texas where its already very difficult to vote in the state of texas. Ranked one of the most difficult states to vote in. To see the republicans pursuing an agenda that will disenfranchise most voters, more voters is extremely problematic. I thought as such an extreme step was appropriate. What do you make of the threats by Governor Abbott to arrest the democrats, the texas democrats when they come back to the state. Its indicative of the kind of administration that Governor Abbott is running. The socalled Law And Order is a reactionary form of government. Weve seen It Show Up in what books our students are allowed to consume in the classroom. Governor abbotts response to the State Representatives the elected officials exprez using every tool in their toolbox to oppose Voter Suppression is criminalize them. Im sorry i almost did i cut you off . Oh, not at all. Okay. Good. Here is the next question, you talked about, you know, Setting Sights on the books that, you know, students consume. Theres a historian in Huffington Post texas Senate Bill drops Teaching Requirement that Ku Klux klan is morally wrong. I would love as a prominent civil right the attorney, hold forth on your feelings about that particular bill. Listen, i want people outside of texas to understand how dangerous this is. One out of ten children in america are educated in texas. It leads the nation in our education. Right now trying to wash im sorry trying to whitewash our history, promote the Ku Klux klan as an organization, i guess, as a neutral morality when it wasnt. We should be able to teach what was evil. I began my career as an educator with Teach For America in New Jersey and atlanta. To have this kind of governmental partisan influence on what we teach our children is the hype of antidemocracy. Uhhuh. And the time we have left, mr. Meter, again, no democrat has won statewide since 1994. Make your pitch, why should you be the first one . Our platform is geared around responding to the actual needs of families in texas. Its not about left or right, republican or democrat. There are concerns for texans about the power grid, about property taxes, womens rights over their body and about Voting Rights, about immigration that take priority over the far right Republican Agenda that is being pursued that makes all texans more dangerous and less free. So its our time now to run a campaign to support a candidacy and we focus on action of being the Peoples Attorney in which it was designed. Lee Meter Candidate for Attorney General at the state of texas. Thank you very much for coming to the sunday show. Next the authors of i alone can fix it. Stay with us. Authors of i aloe can fix it. The sunday show. Donald trump is at it again spouting his claims in arizona where he hailed the ongoing audit of the 2020 election in Maricopa County and falsely insisted the election was stolen. The Big Lie, they call it. You know the Big Lie in the opposite is the Big Lie. The election was the Big Lie. If i lost this election, i could handle it pretty easily. When they steal it from you and rig it, thats not easy and we have to fight. We have no choice. If you lost the election . Let it go, man. The broken record that is trump repeated these claims and so much more in a Jawdropping Interview with the Washington Post full Lip Rucker and Carol Leonnig in their book i alone can fix it. I got a chance to speak with them earlier. Thank you very much. Phil, ill start with you. Trump was in arizona yesterday. He broke out the greatest hits, among them being his rant about quote, unquote, voter fraud. Both of you talked to Donald Trump about this. Lets have a Listen And Talk to you on the other side. Theres tremendous proof, theres tremendous proof. Statistically it wasnt even possible that he won. I mean, things such as if you win Florida And Ohio and iowa theres never been a loss. Did you need better lawyers because they took it to court but didnt give enough evidence to convince the judges. I need better judges. The Supreme Court was afraid to take it. Phil, why wont Donald Trump let this go . Theres been no Evidence Whatsoever of wide spread voter fraud. Youre exactly right. Theres no evidence to support what hes been saying. Yet he continues to say it. As we saw last night in arizona. Hes unwilling to accept the fact that he lost the election to Joe Biden and he remains clinging on to these Conspiracy Theories that are just not true. Theres no evidence to support it. Even his closest advisors, the Attorney General bill barr, told the president , according to our reporting, that there was no evidence to support the wide spread voter fraud. Yet Donald Trump is clinging on to the idea that the election was rigged and somehow stolen from him. Carol, as you know, one of the conversations happening here in the country is about Voting Rights and, you know, the fact that for the people act is mired there in the united States Senate and cant get out of the senate to President Bidens signature because of the filibuster. You and phil asked Donald Trump about the filibuster. I want everyone to hear what he had to say about this. Ill talk about it on the other side. I tried to convince Mitch Mcconnell to get rid of the filibuster, to terminate it so that we would get everything and he was a Knuckle Head and he didnt do it. He wouldnt do it. And so, carol, i mean, calling the Senate Minority Leader who was then Majority Leader a Knuckle Head. That sort of gets to the its one of the list of grievances Donald Trump has against Mitch Mcconnell. Its a long list, jonathan, of grievances he has with the former Senate Leader and its a long list of people he has grievances with. When phil and i sat with him in maralago, we were pretty taken aback how many people he had harsh words for. Many of them loyal deputies. Many of them people who helped him over and over again and enabled his agenda. He called Mitch Mcconnell stupid. A person who didnt have smarts. A person who didnt have personality. A leader in the republican party that he essentially believes hes responsible for getting reelected because he recorded a message of support. Called Mitch Mcconnell a lot of things but stupid is probably not one. Hes pretty cunning tactical strategies and been successful in his agenda. So it was pretty striking. But to Donald Trumps mind, Mitch Mcconnell and many other very smart republican leaders failed him. You know if you know anything about washington and certainly about capitol hill, you know Mitch Mcconnell is one of the wiliest, sneakiest dare say brilliant strategies there is on capitol hill. Phil, there is somebody who Donald Trump seems to really like. I want people to listen to who Donald Trump really likes. Ill talk to you about that on the other side. I get along great with him. I like him. He liked me. We had a great relationship. I said theres no way we would ever vote to impeach me. I was doing a great job. He said ive done the best job of any president hes ever known. He does it all the time. He gets publicity and goes along with the democrats. You know, thats the way it should be. Mitch mcconnell, if he knew what he was doing, would have gotten manchin to be a republican. Get manchin. You can Get Manchin to be a republican. I neglected to mention the person before that clip played that Donald Trump is talking about Joe Manchin, the senator from west virginia. Someone who figures prominently in, you know, whether its conversations about Voting Rights or about the filibuster. Donald trump really did and does like Joe Manchin. He sure does, jonathan. I think manchin was the White Whale for Donald Trump. Throughout his presidency, he had the dreams he was going to convert Joe Manchin into becoming a republican. In part because trump is popular in west virginia. One of his highest Vote Totals both in 2016 and 2020. He thought he could somehow pressure, coerce, persuade manchin to abandon the Democrat Party and become republican. It has never happened and may never happen. It was one of the Things Trump thought about during his presidency. Carol, ill start with you, first. Both of you covered the Trump Presidency in real time. Then you went back and did more reporting for your book i alone can fix it. Did you learn anything you didnt already know in terms of reporting for the book that you didnt already know in terms of your reporting in real time . Carol, you go first. To answer, jonathan, the answer is heck yeah. [ laughter ] every interview we sat down with people, we were stunned. Our jaws would have hit the ground were we not hardened reporter or trained to keep a straight face. Many of the people we spoke with, and there are more than 140 of them, many of them were Front Row witnesses to history and they had been really big supporters of Donald Trump inside the White House, inside his administration, and they had been afraid to talk about him before. Afraid that he might do something to them, if they objected. Afraid of what dangerous impulses he would get away with, if they were replaced. But these people told us, for example, you know, about the fears of a cue. Mark milly believed there was something afoot and he saw evidence of it. Second, milly and his joint chiefs all began planning secretly for what they would do to try to block Donald Trump from taking some terrible action with the military to maintain his grip on power or to just create chaos. Milly was very worry the, as you know, now from reading our book that there were a lot of comparisons between the way Donald Trump was acting and Adolf Hitler had, you know, consolidated power in the 1930s. By creating fear. You know phil, i know i invoked your name in terms of that question, but in the time we have left, i want to get you on a couple of things. Michael wolf, who has his own Trump Book out called landslide has an Oped Piece in the New York Times. One thing he puts in there you and carol also note in your book, and that is when you sat down with Donald Trump at maralago, you did not do that in a private room or in a conference room. You did it out in public. He had he talked to you out in public. He did the same thing Michael Wolf says, basically, the same thing with him. Why do you think Donald Trump wanted to do it that way . What was behind that . Well, jonathan, I Cant speak to Michael Wolf or his reporting, but i can tell you in the case of our interview right. You know, trump wanted the lobby of maralago. He chose to do so at 5 00 p. M. , which is the time when dozens of his guests started showing up for the happy hour cocktails on the pate owe. I think he wanted to be seen. I think he wanted the members of magnificent maralago to parade through the lobby and see him through the important king of republican politics to be interviewed by journalists from washington. It was a Performative Act for him. Indeed, as people came in for dinner, they would come by and say hello. Sometimes interrupt. Laura abraham was among them of Fox News showed up. We were talking about the serious Election Fraud discussion, they were putting out oysters and shrimp. It was a pretty wild scene. Were thankful but it was a surprising scene. Not to get you to respond to whatever Michael Wolf has written, but he does raise an interesting question. To his mind, based on his reporting, and hes written three books about the Trump Presidency, he is convinced that Donald Trump is going to run again in 2024, and simply because hes got grievances and he wants to get back at people. After your reporting for your book, i alone can fix it and sitting with Donald Trump, hardened journalists that you are, carol then phil have you come away with the conclusion you think Donald Trump will, indeed, run for president in 2024 . Jonathan, its impossible to know. Ill tell you, as i sat across from him on the Silk Brocade sofas and he in his chair, he sounded, to me, like a guy who wanted to run. Wanted to run for everything. He was talking about himself in the third person, you know, about the volume of the party that supports him. He said look at the numbers. Look at the numbers republicans love trump. He strikes me as someone who is not going to be entirely satisfied with being a king maker. He does view himself as the king. As he told us, if George Washington and, you know, Abe Lincoln were brought back from the dead, he would beat them. So he really does believe Hes President ial material. He sounded like hes running. Phil . I agree with what carol said. I would just point out that hes not going to have to actually make that decision for another Year Or Year and a half. Thats a long time in politics. Who knows whether his company his business will be under investigation or what would happen there. We should keep in mind that hes 75 years old. His health is going to be a big Question Mark coming down the pike. Uhhuh. Im sticking with my conclusion. He aint running. Carol leonnig and Phil Rucker. Thank you so much for coming back to the sunday show. Thank you for having us. Coming up, the Mounting Pressure on President Biden to do something about Voting Rights. Well discuss next. The future of Voting Rights remains uncertain as President Biden continues to stay out a direct fight over the filibuster. The New York Times reporting that the White House is confident they can out organize Voter Suppression. Meanwhile, democratic state lawmakers from texas have organized and have been in d. C. For nearly two weeks. Republican State Representative has been using that time to call for an audit of larger texas counties that mostly went for biden in 2020. Get this he told the Washington Post or the Washington Post is reporting, quote, asked in considering smaller counties he replied what is the point . All the small counties are red. Joining me now is texas State Representative Javarris Johnson and civil rights activist, msnbc anchor, and author of Rise Up reverend al sharpton. Thank you very much for coming to the sunday show. Representative Javarris Johnson, i did it the last time we talked. Im so sorry. [ laughter ] Representative Johnson, youve been here in washington for nearly two weeks. How do you feel about the momentum behind the cause that brought you here in the first place . Were very excited about it. We have calls from all over the country. It has to continue. Its something we have to maintain for the long haul. So we can suppress all the other hateful bills that republicans across the country are trying to pass. [ inaudible ] let me get your reaction to what i read from your texas State Representative colleague on the republican side. When he was asked if he would consider including smaller counties in the audit and he said what is the point, i mean, all the small counties are red. Did you hear me . [ inaudible ] i think thats the whole point what the republicans are trying to do. Theyre literally trying to find ways we dont need to look at ourselves. We need to look at the other points because were already cheating. [ inaudible ] so thats the whole point. Thats creating the divide across the country. You know reverend sharpton, you have been involved in the voting Rights Movement at the national level for a long time. Like Representative Johnson, you have been in meetings with the President And Vice president talking about this. From your perspective, is the momentum still there to get something done on Voting Rights on the national level . I absolutely know the momentum is there. And you look at the fact that people of organizing in Georgia And Florida and people are standing by the democrats in the legislature from texas that are here in washington now Martin Luther King iii and his wife and i have visited texas democrats this week. I talked to State Representatives. And the second weekend Representative Johnson said. I think the momentum is building and i think the is right. People will come out and vote. The question is, we shouldnt have to come out and vote in huge numbers over restrictive laws. The right to vote should be protected. Whether or not we can organize people or not is besides the point. The real fight is, peoples Voting Rights out to be protected No Matter What. That is why i think we see these organizations and i think yeah. Im going to tell you now and put you on on the spot. Knowing you have been in meetings with White House officials, what have you told them about the filibuster . Have do you have you told them in no cloudy language that he must do something, must articulate a forceful position about, at minimum, reforming the filibuster so for the people act can get out of the senate well, i youre right on the spot. I said it publicly. The meeting of the civil rights leaders. That the filibuster needs to be totally in your vote. The worst we could see is to where our voting is constitutional issues a Cop Out they do with certain other issues. Theyve done it. Even Mitch Mcconnell has done it. I thought it was a great speech. Im going to stay on. You and the White House have got the filibuster and the Cop Out. And others have said we dont want to see the filibuster at all but must get the cop on the the constitutional issue of Voting Rights. And keep pushing the White House toward that direction. We lost our connection to State Representative johnson. One of the things i wanted to ask him about is something i said about the special Lawrence Odonnell and i did on monday where i asked him about the threats hes been receiving since leaving texas for washington and he told me that one of the things that he has told his son is told his son to not drive in texas because hes afraid of retaliation by state troopers. Oh, great. I understand that State Representative Javarris Johnson is back. I want to is he there . Can we put him on screen . Okay. Great. Ist just saying to reverend al and the audience about something and i talked about during the special and that is you, you know, the threats you have been receiving since leaving texas and being in washington. One of the things you told me is that you have told your son to not drive in texas because of your concern about retaliation on the part of Governor Abbott against you. Can you talk about that . The governor put out the call and said he was going to round us up and bring us back. Then we watched across the country when there was a leader that does something like this that there are people in their party that will take this along with it and what is happening we saw how they ran President Bidens bus off the road here in texas. So my son driving my car which has the plates. I just dont want some cop or some fanatic of the republican party i had to say that to my son. I understand the relationships with the Police Officers and i know what is going on with most of the republican party. When they want to take the law into their own hands and act as heros and say we rounded one up. I dont want that mistaken identity with my son in that situation. Unfortunately they dont understand as a black father has to go through. As i talked to my son almost daily about make sure you get a ride with someone else. But all week he didnt go to work. He couldnt go out. Wow. Texas State Representative Javarris Johnson thank you for coming to the sunday show. Reverend al sharpton, thank you very much for coming to the show. Coming up next, a word or two from actors on saving democracy in america. Actors og democracy in america. When technology is easier to use. Barriers dont stand a chance. Thats why well stop at nothing to deliver our technology asaservice. Icy hot. Ice works fast. Heat makes it last. Feel the power of contrast therapy, so you can rise from pain. My Dvt Blood Clot left me with questions. Was another around the corner . Or could i have a different Game Plan . I wanted to help protect myself. My doctor recommended eliquis. Eliquis is proven to treat and help prevent another Dvt Or Pe blood clot. Almost 98 percent of patients on eliquis didnt experience another. And eliquis has significantly less major bleeding than the standard treatment. Eliquis is fdaapproved and has both. Dont stop eliquis unless your doctor tells you to. Eliquis can cause serious and in rare cases fatal bleeding. Dont take eliquis if you have an artificial Heart Valve or abnormal bleeding. If you had a spinal injection while on eliquis call your doctor right away if you have tingling, numbness, or muscle weakness. While taking eliquis, you may bruise more easily and it may take longer than usual for bleeding to stop. Seek immediate medical care for sudden signs of bleeding, like unusual bruising. Eliquis may increase your Bleeding Risk if you take certain medicines. Tell your doctor about all planned medical or dental procedures. Whats around the corner could be a different game. Ask your doctor about eliquis. Co someone once told me,e. That i should get used to people staring. So i did. Its okay, you can stare. When youre a twotime gold medalist, it comes with the territory. Hello. Hello . Yes. Were voting in a couple of weeks. How are you . Youre voting . Oh, that sounds [ laughter ] sorry. Actors and Activist Mandy Patinkin and Catherine Grody are using their platform to get out the vote. Even in the face of Voter Suppression. Joining us now is Mandy Patinkin and kathryn groody. Thank you for having us. That was an interesting reminder. Doesnt that seem like ten years ago. I know it. It wasnt that long ago. Im sure you were listening during the conversation with texas State Representative Javarris Johnson and reverend al. Would love to know given the work youre trying to do on Voting Rights, what you think about where things are at the national level on Voting Rights well, its staggering watching the representative talk about what theyve had to do to protect our right to vote. You know, were in an astonishing place. Every citizens in america of any party should be this should be a collective thing. No brainer lets protect our right to vote. And, you know, were also trying to figure out what to do. What is the best thing to do. We work with swing left. Org. We work with the movement voter project. Its simple facts you want to have. You want to protect our democracy and want every single Human Being in this country No Matter What your political affiliation is to have their sacred right of that vote and to protect it and fight for it. If you dont, our country is in terrible condition. I mean, you have to know that we have more People Vote than ever voted before. Right, in the last election. Right. To protect the safest vote that ever happened every the court said this is their vote. Lets have critical thinking here and protect it for all of us. We all need to work together. I dont want to forget something important. My son gideon texted me off a quick note and said, dad, remember, tell people since 2021 alone, republicans have introduced more than 400 bills to restrict Voting Rights in 49 states, according to the brown center, with 30 actual laws already enacted across 18 states. This is insanity this is our country. Our sacred right. Our constitution. Every Human Being has a vote. Protect that vote. Not just for democrats but for republicans, for independents, for every Human Being in america for gods sake. I mean, we have to protect each others rights to votes. If theyre suppressing it for people of color, theyll suppress it for you next. And i meant to say earlier, you know, sometimes i get confused. Theres so many different between the for the peoples act and the John Lewis Voting rights act. Go to swingleft. Org. Look at Stacy Abrams fair fight. Shell explain it simply. Call your senators. Tell them youre on them. They represent you the majority of people in this country want our vote protected not denied. We also have the information on our Social Media and go through it. Take time. Its complicated but it is your future. Sorry. Ill shut up. Can i ask a question, teacher . [ laughter ] all right. Youre the moderator. I know. Right. Here is a serious question. Because the passion that you both have is undenial. It is undeniable, you know, why you have it. If you were to get a Phone Call from President Biden, what would you demand that he do on this on the matter of Voting Rights . Ill leave it to my bride. Its terrifying. I would beg him to listen to reverend al if we cant get rid of the filibuster, do the carve out. I would say forget this whole notion. This bipartisan thing, you know, get every democrat you can. Get every decent republican you can find. Get this law passed and protect us i dont know what you have to do. Im not president. We have an unusual opportunity here where we have the congress and have the White House because of the hard work that was done to get out the vote, we have a democratic system at this moment and we need to use that opportunity to work out a carve out with stacy worked out with manchin and to look, you know, itd be lovely if he could be bipartisan. We wish everything could be. We must never stop working for that. At the same time, we have a moment of opportunity here. When you restrict the vote, when you suppress the vote, that is exactly what happens in these other countries like hungary and China And Russia and happened in germany and that is the road to the end of democracy and to the worst imaginary scenario. This is how it starts. I would tell biden i support him totally but smell the present moment. Its not like it was in 1965 when we were able to pass that. And we worked so hard to make this moment be alive and embrace it and cherish it and use your Godgiven Right to express your vote and your voice and facts and the truth, jonathan. If February 6th didnt scare everybody, it should. Stacy ab are a hams has a great thing. She tells you how to call. Its very funny to watch being interviewed by the senator. She takes you through the whole thing. Watch it. Find it. Shell show you what to do because she says something very important that even if you know your Senator Isnt going to be for it, you call him. Hes your representative and hes working for you. You put the pressure on them. Thats your right and thats their job. To listen to you. Talk about pressure, we have to go. Youre the interest interview. You know what . All It Takes is one question and you guys are off to the races with so much energy and passion. Thank you. Yeah. Thank you. Right. Thank you. This is not about me. Its about you and about the show. Have to go thank you very much. Coming up, my panel and i will sound off to the other Sunday Shows. Its our patriotic duty to do so. Maybe the republicans Cant Handle the truth. But we have a responsibility to seek it. To find it in a way that contains the confidence of the american people. Nancy pelosi making it clear that democrats will not be deterred from getting to the truth of January 6th. Even as her republican Counter Part is refusing to cooperate. Joining me now is charlie psychs. Rene graham and joan walsh. Thank you very much for coming back to the sunday show. Ill start at that end of the screen there. Is the Speaker Right . Are republicans they Cant Handle the truth . Absolutely right. We talked about it at the time. She comprised so much to establish a bipartisan commission that would be outside of the legislature. That republicans would have equal nominees and equal subpoena power. She gave them everything they wanted. And Kevin Mccarthy cut the legs out from under his Chief Negotiator Mitch Mcconnell. Blocked it. Theres nothing they would settle for nothing except stone walling. Im proud shes doing this. I wish they would let the other people who arent maniacs serve. If they wont, you know, shes going to do what she has to do. She cant be stone walled. Its a fars and democratic. Uhhuh. Ren nay . If you send in the clowns, youll get and thats what you understand. And important to allow, you know, the gop of Jim Jordan and Jim Banks who is questioning the legality of some of the votes of the election based on nothing and have them on the commission. This is all about exactly as joan said about stone walling. Republicans dont want any commission of anything they do. They want to try to turn into a mess and Nancy Pelosi doesnt want that. This is too important. And the american people have a right to know exactly what happened on January 6th. Have a listen to what Jim Banks said earlier on fox about why he got booted from the committee. She claimed the reason she booted me from the committee was because of antics on the part of Jim Jordan and i. In hindsight what i realize what she means is by now we were prepared to ask questions that No One else has asked and demand answers as to why the capitol was vulnerable to an attack on January 6th. Why was there a systemic breakdown of security at the capitol on January 6th. If were going to investigate January 6th. Why not ask those questions. Charlie . The reason was his antics. He came out of the bock and said he was going to pursue a strategy of what aboutism. Hes an election truther. He said the only reason the committee was created was to malign conservatives. He wouldnt be a good faith actor. His Communications Director is tucker karlssons son. I think Nancy Pelosi didnt draw a Bright Red Line when she said, you know, you know, were not going to allow members of the is a Zishs Caucus to disrupt this. It requires unprecedented moves. I should note that there will be republicans on this committee. It may not be the republicans that Kevin Mccarthy wants, but it does look like Liz Cheney will be joined by Adam Kinzinger. I will say that i know a lot of folks in the media will describe them as antitrump republicans but the reality is, this is not about pro ranking trump. This is whether or not you are pro democracy. Whether or not you actually want to get to the truth. I think Nancy Pelosi has drawn a line that is justifiable by the attack on the capitol. I think it will be a bipartisan committee going forward. Right. Speaker pelosi made the Announcement Today that Adam Kinzinger will be a part of the select committee. Lets switch gears and move away from January 6th and talk about something apparently seem to agree on in a bipartisan way. Infrastructure. Have a listen to Senator Portman on abc this morning. Of. 87 of the american people think we should do a bipartisan package. President trumps proposal was for 1. 5 trillion in infrastructure. Ours is about 579-billion'>579 Billion for fife years. So this is a right thing to do. Its been totally bipartisan from the start. Its the way we ought to be doing things in washington to get stuff done. I cant believe the Speaker Of The House would be blocking it. Do you have a deal . Were about 90 of the way there. [ laughter ] first, decide the dig at Speaker Pelosi. How long it took to say whether they have a deal. Well, you know, he doesnt want to be the guy who by saying, well, i dont think we have a deal and its not going to happen. You know, the remarkable thing is for four years, infrastructure was kind of like those its like a barbecue. Whenever they get together, something catastrophic would happen. Here we are again at infrastructure. Hoping something actually gets by. But were going to see how serious the republicans are about this. Senator portman is right. People want this bill. People want what the bill is promising and the republicans will continue to obstruct and stone wall. I hope thats what voters remember next year at the midterms. Uhhuh. Joan . Are we going to have a Deal Tomorrow, you think . One that can actually be debated and voted on . I dont think well have one tomorrow. From what ive heard from, you know, Senator Portman and toomey, the details arent completely jelled yet. Theyre still pretty far apart. I dont know how far on Transit Investment and, you know, theyre arguing, we already put too much in transit. If you take the Subway in New York or the metro in d. C. , or in san francisco, my three cities, you know its not true. Were behind in Transit Investment. The deal would fall apart over that. Im not ready to say its going to happen. Hey, charlie, today in the New York Times Michael Wolf has an oped. Among the people who have books about the Trump Presidency. His oped says flat out he says trump is definitely running for president in 2024. Im on the other side of that. I say the man aint running. Where are you . Im going of where Phil Rucker is. He doesnt have to make a decision. He hes not going to say he is not going to run. He would become irrelevant and people wouldnt good point. He wouldnt be able to raise money. Its a long time. But, you know, the reality is that the republican nomination is trumps for the asking. No matter how deranged and how deceptive he is. The republicans will roll over. So thats going to be a great temptation. He has all of these grievances that he needs to air. At this point, you know, i think that the wind is at his back in terms of running. However, see, jonathan, part of me agrees with you its a lot of work. Its hard work. Come on. It would be the prospect of losing again, Thats Something Donald Trump Cant Handle. Being humiliated again. Its part of his psychological make up. Why hes unable to come to grips with that he was defeated in the election. Could he handle another defeat . Im not sure. Yeah, i mean, why run for a job he didnt want in the first place. Thank you all very much for coming back to the sunday show. Coming up tough love for the unvaccinated. Byline is next. Just when we thought it was safe to go back in the water that is normal life, the Delta Variant, rising rates of infection and hospitals deaths. To make matters worse, too many folks dont want to protect themselves or the rest of us by getting vaccinated. The Cdc Director Rochelle Walensky said this is a pandemic of the unvaccinated for a reason. According to a new poll from the ap, 45 of the american adults surveyed who havent been vaccinated say they definitely will not get the vaccine. An additional 35 of them say they, quote, probably will not. Come on, youall. Early on we were counselled to basically coddle those of you who didnt want to get the vaccine. The fear was that finger wags at those unwilling to get their upper Arms Jabbed would lead from Vaccine Hesitance to vaccine resistance. Look, let me be truthful, the destructive path of the Delta Variant and the danger it poses to our ability to maintain the gains weve made so far is wearing down my patience, and that of notable others. Just listen to kay ivey, the republican governor of alabama. I want folks to get vaccinated. Thats the cure. That prevents everything. Data proves that it works. It doesnt cost anything. It saves lives. Folks are supposed to have common sense. But its time to start blaming the unvaccinated folks not the regular folks. Its the unvaccinated folks that are letting us down. Late to the party but welcome. And im sure im going to catch all kinds of help for saying this but when doctors around the country are telling us Covid Infection rates are going up and that the overwhelming majority of those infections are among the unvaccinated, im more than happy to hurt some feelings. How can you read the facebook posts of Alabama Doctor about the last requests of young, unvaccinated patients and not feel a roiling mix of Sadness And Rage . One of the last things they do before theyre intubated is beg me for the vaccine, i hold their hand and tell them im sorry but its too late. When its time to tell their Family Members, i tell them the best way to honor their loved one is to go get vaccinated. They cry and tell me they didnt know. They thought it was a hoax. They thought it was political. They thought it was political and a hoax because folks who damn well knew better played politics with public health. Some say they are taking a waitandsee approach. Notably missing from that panel, however, any members nominated by republicans after Minority Leader Kevin Mccarthy pulled his picks. This morning speaker Nancy Pelosi says she plans to bring on a new gop reinforcement. Will you be appointing more republicans to the committee like Adam Kinzinger . That would be my plan. So when will that be announced . Perhaps after i speak to Adam Kinzinger, but im not about to announce it right this minimum. You can say that is the direction i could be going on. He and other republicans have expressed an interest to serve on the select committee. Also some new reaction from one of the republicans appointed by mccarthy and vetoed by Speaker Pelosi. Its more clear than ever that Nancy Pelosi is not interested in an investigation. Shes only interested in a narrative. She claimed the reason she booted me from the committee was because of antics on the part o
