Get accurate information to people so they can get this vaccine. Those comments come as the Delta Variant continues to explode across the country, sweeping through unvaccinated communities like a raging wildfire. Im going to say that again. Unvaccinated communities and remind you, vaccines are available. As of this morning, the variant accounts for nearly 58 of all new covid infection, and heres more proof that this pandemic is not over. Los Angeles County reinstating a Mask Mandate, effective this weekend, as the nations largest County Deals with a rapid increase in cases. And last nights yankees Red Sox game officially postponed due to some of the yankees players reporting Breakthrough Cases. At the same time, the fda now says Emergency Authorization for covid19 vaccines in kids under the age of 12 could be months away. Stephanie gosk is in new york city. Also joining us, former fda commissioner, dr. Scott gottlieb. Why is l. A. County reinstating this Mask Mandate . For people who are already vaccinated, they are not going to want to put their masks on. They dont need to reporter stephanie, good morning. I think a lot of people thought it was time to put these away and not look at them again, but in los Angeles County, everyone will have to wear a mask when going indoors. Now, local Health Authorities gave a Press Conference where they gave some statistics that can scare the public and i think will convince everyone to wear a mask inside. Weve seen an 83 rise in cases over the last week. They did mention that a lot of these cases are being driven by the unvaccinated. We still have about 4 Million residents in Los Angeles who are not vaccinated. Were going to hear a piece of this Press Conference that was offered yesterday. Masking by all makes it a level playing field. Theres no confusion. Its much easier. And i dont think any business wants to say, i really can go through and figure out, you know, the Vaccination Status of everybody. I can verify that. But in either case, it makes it much easier. Its pretty clear for everybody. So when you look at it, theyre asking everyone to wear the mask, because you dont know whos vaccinated. At some point in the conference, they went on to saying that some people who were not vaccinated sometimes chose to take off the mask, because they didnt want to be identified as someone whos not vaccinated. And theres all of these questions, so they just decided, everyone should wear a mask when indoors in Los Angeles. They also mentioned that a lot of these cases are mostly between people, between 18 and 29 years old. And we should say that this starts sunday, so we still have friday and saturday and the Mask Mandate will return on sunday while authorities in Los Angeles continue with the campaign to vaccinate those that still havent gotten the vaccine with more than 700 sites and still offering all types of incentives. Theres a partnership with mcdonalds, theres other partnerships giving Gift Cards and doing whatever it is they can to convince the unvaccinated to come out and get the vaccine, stephanie. Steph, lets talk about these yankees who tested positive. Theyre calling them Breakthrough Cases. What does that mean . And if they have no symptoms, do they need to postpone the games . That could impact the entire league. Well, theyre called Breakthrough Cases because 85 of the yankees have been vaccinated. We did a similar story about the yankees back in may when they had a handful of Breakthrough Cases. They were vaccinated with the johnson johnson vaccine. We know that this is possible. We know that once you are vaccinated, you can get a breakthrough case. And these are players, as you say, theyre tested all the time. The concern right now is that youve got this game postponed between the Red Sox and the yankees, which is a game for fans of those teams that they look forward to all season. But the larger concern is actually the week of the allstar game. Andtha because espn is reporting that one of the positive cases for the yankees is aaron judge. He was at that allstar game and theres some video of him scoring a run and shaking peoples hands and so now the league has some concerns on whether or not they might have that are moment might be a kind of Super Spreader event. But it is this kind of moment for everyone and they look at this example and think, okay, well, ive been vaccinated. There is a chance that i can still carry this virus, steph. Superspreader events were a lot scarier when a lot fewer americans were vaccinated. But now we are, and more of us should be. Dr. Gottlieb, i want to ask you about the Surgeon General yesterday joining Jen Psaki at the White House, launching this attack against misinformation. Watch this. Theres about 12 people who are producing 65 of antivaccine misinformation on Social Media Platforms. All of them remain active on facebook, despite some even being banned on other platforms, including facebook ones that facebook owns. Facebook needs to move more quickly to remove harmful, violative posts. Okay. But heres the thing, scott. Jen psaki says, facebook, you need to do better. Great what levers does the government have to force that. This is on the hands of the government. Facebook says they taking down posts, but theyre already out there and its the law. Facebook is beholden to following the law which they havent broken and satisfying their shareholders and their customers, which theyre doing. Doesnt the White House need to look to themselves and to congress to actually regulregul . I think the Social Media Platforms do have an obligation to regulte the kind of information theyre doing. I think the government could be helpful in flagging some of these sources for these social media sites. Weve known since march that foreign agents from the Rnks Government were deliberating spreading misinformation, false scientific information about the vaccines through alleged sort of scientific journals that werent really journals. You also have the site 911 on twitter thats believed to be linked to russian sources spreading information. So we know where this information is coming from. We know where some of the perceived fronts are. I think the federal government can help flag some of these sites for these Social Media Platforms. And the platforms can start to take them down and start to police this more aggressively. Sure, flagging and urging those companies to do something helps, but if they force them to, it will have a bigger impact. I want to ask you about these yankees Breakthrough Cases. Theyre testing positive, but they do not have any symptoms, which means vaccines are working. And more than 99 of the people who are seriously ill or dying of covid19 are unvaccinated. So doesnt this show that vaccinated people are in good shape. Do we need to keep testing the yankees and worry about it for those of us that are vaccinated . I dont think we need to. And thats why i think were probably undercounting the level of Delta Spread right now. Because were probably not picking up some mild or unsymptomatic infections among the vaccinated, which is probably occurring. And probably not picking up as many of the infections that are occurring among people who are unvaccinated, because a lot of them younger people, who if they get mildly sick, probably arent going out and getting tested. Remember, were not doing a lot of Routine Screening anymore. Businesses arent screening people as much as they were during the height of the pandemic. I think theres probably a lot more delta Virus Spread than were picking up right now. The vaccines do work. We know they prevent infection. We know when people do get infected, day get mild infections, generally. The vast majority, over 99 of the hospitalizations have been among unvaccinated individuals. The vaccines do work, even in situations where you become mildly infected, they prevent you from developing severe disease. Why arent businesses doing more . When we first started getting vaccinated, we heard from all sorts of businesses that said, were going to require you to show proof that youve had a negative test or that you were vaccinated. There was a whole idea one of the ways that we were going to get young people to get vaccinated was say, listen, do you want to go to bars and sporting events, youll want to get vaccinated. Were seeing that happening in france. Why isnt it happening here . Shouldnt businesses do their part to help keep the countries safe . Governments certainly did a lot to keep businesses afloat . Im betting youll see a readjudication of that. I think it will give more impetus to businesses. I think theres a sense that the virus was going away. Remember, when the wave went through the population back in the spring, we believed we were going to have a relatively quiet summer with respect to this virus. We didnt expect the Delta Variant to come around. Its causing this uptick in infections. I think as you enter The End of the summer and the fall and businesses contemplate reopening in the fall, most of them have plans to do. They want to bring their workers back in the fall. Against the backdrop of the Delta Variant spread, i think theyll have to contemplate vaccine reopenings. Otherwise, theyll have to readjudicate those plans, but i dont think theyll want to do that. I think youll see more mandates get put in place now. The situation has changed. How do you think reinstating this Mask Mandate in l. A. County is going to work . For people who have been vaccinated, theyre not going to want to do this. They feel like theyve done their homework. Right. And this is a difficult proposition. I dont think local governments should be implementing mandates at this point. People have gone out and gotten vaccinated. People who are worried about the virus remain unvaccinated. So you dont have a lot of people who are going to support these kind of mandates or other kinds of measures. In settings where a lot of Spread And Atrisk individuals, people need to take measures into their own hands and implement precautions on their own. Even if youre a vaccinated individual, if youre vulnerable, you might want to wear a mask if its a highly populated location. I think you need to think about your own risk. Implementing it as a matter of policy will be very difficult. I think l. A. Will be the exception. Doctor, the fda now says vaccines for kids under 12, i know im watching this closely, i Bet Stephanie is, too. Kids under 12 could happen by early winter. What impact could that have on getting the Infection Rate down . Well, look, the best way to control the infection among kids is to control the infection among adults. What weve seen in other parts of the world and in the united states for that matter is when the Infection Level went down in the Adult Populations, it went down in children as well. But weve also seen the opposite. Weve seen situations where children became sources of community spread. Thats certainly what happened in michigan. The Epidemic Wave that we saw in the springtime in michigan was driven in part by the reopening of schools in michigan. So you do want to try to get vaccines into the setting, into children, but the best way to protect children is to get adults vaccinated. And thats what we have the opportunity to do right now. The vaccine in kids under the age of 12, so from 5 to 11, is really a different dose. Its a 10 Microgram Dose of the pfizer vaccine, the company im on the board of which is developing that vaccine. The vaccine in people in adults and children 12 and above is a 30 Microgram Dose. So theyll put that 10 Microgram Dose through a different regulatory process. The agency generally views kids as 12 and above as little adults and willing to extrapolate data from the Adult Population into kids 12 and above. But under 12, they view the biology different. They think the biology in children 12 and under is different and requires a different kind of regulatory process, a different kind of review. Theyll look at this as a separate product in some respects and evaluate it in different clinical trials. All right. Dr. Scott gottlieb, stephanie gosk, Thank You both so much. Well leave it there. We need to turn now to europe where weve got breaking news. Rescue efforts are entering a second day in Western Germany after catastrophic flooding took place there. More than A Hundred people are dead and more than A Thousand are unaccounted for. Some residents are describing the situation as apocalyptic. Sky News Michelle Clifford is in germany with the latest. An incredibly worrying situation across many european countries, but particularly in Western Germany and belgium. In the area of germany im in, local authorities are saying some 1,300 people are still missing and the Rescue Services are mounting intensive operations to find them. Now, it could be at least some of those people are found safe and well, because one of the problems at the moment is that Power Networks are down, Phone Networks are down, theres virtually no internet connectivity. And weve spoken to relatives who have been trying to get ahold of their Loved Ones for hours. Some of them have found people safe and well, but others are still trying to make those kecks. Now, of particular focus for the authorities and Rescue Services at the moment are two dams causing concern. One is near the Belgium Border that flooded overnight. Another dam has become unstable. Clearly, engineers and other experts are going to be looking into those dams in the situation and theyre evacuating homes around the area. We also know that overnight, a number of homes collapsed in a Village South of colone. People are being told not to try to return to their properties and get out of their properties, but many people just want to stay put. They want to see their houses stay safe, but it is incredibly danger, because the rain is still falling. River levels are still rising. The road networks, transport links are all interrupted. So as i say, a very worrying situation, indeed. And a massive operation for the Rescue Services. Angela merkle was with Pride President biden here just yesterday. Finding something and the us takes Gold Dream on Dream On Dream On Dream On yes Ahhhhhhh Dream until your Dreams Come True new revelations about former president donald trumps final days in office coming out just as he meets with White House Republican Leader Kevin Mccarthy at trumps place here in jersey. Possibly discussing an attempt to return to the White House. I want to bring in yamiche alcindor, moderator of washington week, which airs tonight, Barry Mccaffrey who served in Vietnam And Iraq and was a member of president collins cabinet. Denver Riggleman And Scott mcfarlane. Yamiche, the revelations in this book are disturbing. President trump sitting safe in his private dining room, watching this riot as it was unfolding refusing to call in the troops. Mike pence had to do it, while he was the guy under attack. Why is this not the biggest story out there. Imagine if George Bush went out to lunch after the Twin Towers got hit. Heres the thing. It probably is one of the biggest stories out there. Were all talking about it. It was something that was covered at the time and i think that its really a national work to continue to reveal the details of what happened, all the time in the Trump Administration between November 2016 and january 2021, which were really the scariest periods in our countrys history, in modern history, at least, when you had a president who was grasping and holding on to power, and you had military officials meeting each morning with his chief to try to talk through what to do if the president tried to do two things. Tried to either Start A War in order to try to hold on to power, or tried to use the military, the u. S. Military, against its own citizens in an effort to stay in power. In talking to people at the time and in talking to trump officials now, they underscore that this was really, really, really scare. We have never seen a President Talk about coup detats, weve never seen a president even be accused of trying to do an american coup detat. And yesterday, the former president takes out the statement, he had never talked about doing the u. S. Government, and then he ends it, if i was going to do a coup detat, it wouldnt have been with general Mark Milley. Thats another extraordinary statement that he was even floating the idea of staying in power past the idea of where he was legally allowed to do so. Okay, scary, but general, were learning all of this piecemeal from journalists writing books, talking to people on background, off the record. Our country, our capitol was under threat. A possible coup. Why wouldnt these lawmakers, these military officials come out publicly immediately . This should not be political. Yeah, look, the Bottom Line to all of this is, theres only two people who can give orders to the u. S. Armed forces. The 11 combatant commanders. The joint commanders. Thats the President Of The United States and the secretary of defense. So when we saw at the time Trump Fire Secretary Esper And Movesy agents to take over the department of defense, including an Acting Secretary, All Of Us In Public Life were alarmed. There was an Acting Secretary of homeland security. The chairman of the jcs commands No One, the service chiefs can command No One. I agree, i think we were in great peril. I think this guy was actually edging toward using any element of american power he could grab to retain the presidency and overthrow the election. Thats what was going on. We were commenting on it at the time with great alarm. I think we ought to be grateful that general milley, priton, columbia university, years if combat, a very talented, dedicated officer was in the position he was to try to hedge in and protect the country. Then, can you just almost restate that for us, because i think you just gave us a fact check. You know, conservative media, tucker carlson, so out there saying, well, milley is in charge of the military. If something was so bad, why didnt he do it . Youre saying he wasnt in charge . By law, the jcs have to have a Written Letter to transmit authority to the Armed Forces or accept reports. Any Threesoldier Team being moved from one joint command to another requires the secretary of defense to sign off on it. Thats the way the constitution is set up and the federal laws affecting the dod. So, again, you know, we were in a period of great peril. The Bottom Line is, if you have a president who has a criminal regime and snoring the Rule Of Law with an Acting Secretary whos a minor functionary, we are in peril during those periods of time. Mark milley reached out to the senate, to the house, talked about the inner agency process, the Secretary Of State and other senior officials of government, to try to ensure that we didnt have a you know, a Military Confrontation with our commander in chief. The chairman is, by law, required to obey the lawful orders of the President Of The United States. And at that level, some of these situations are not that clear. Very tricky time for america. Congressman, put Mark Milley aside. All the people we keep reading about in the books that are close to trump, pat cipollone, ivanka trump, chris christie, you know, leaking their way through from sources, trying to rewrite history. In the behind the scenes, they were saving us. Saving us from what . The insurrection took place . Were in a misinformation malaise, and people around this country think trump is going back to office in august. What were they saving us from . Were living in the big lie. A lot of it was hedging their bets of what they could do politically if President Trump could actually pull it off. Theyve created their own massive Selflicking Ice Cream cone, youre actually trying to maneuver within a regime or within a president ial sort of cabinet with some of the people that he had chosen where you werent sure what was going to happen daytoday. And i always wondered this. What if he was smarter. What if the former president was smarter . What if he was more strategic . What if he had identified those individuals that go into those areas before, maybe months before, and thats what scarce me. We had seen this issue in data for a long time. And i know youll get to scott soon when you talk about what happened on January 6th. But the messaging that you saw then is working now. And now with the fundraising that youre seeing and things like that and the transition youre seeing, maybe they were right. Im not saying this in a good way. But when you see Stop The Steal or fauciism, you know, being the biggest portions of what the republican plank is today, you know, you wonder if those individuals were just hedging their bets and now theyre trying to create this sort of illusion that they were there all along trying to save the republic. But congressman, lets stay on that. Right there, youre going, phew, thank Goodness Trump Wasnt smarter. Were grateful that he didnt know what he was doing. Were not surprised by any of this. Whats surprising is how many elected republicans and republican voters are right now continuing to stand with trump, despite all of this. They dont need to back joe biden. There was a window. You have liz cheney, you have adam kinzinger, you have mitt romney, but theyre turning their back on him and doubling down on trump. What does that say about republicans . Well, right now it says that the factbased republicans are the radicals of the party right now, i think. If youre looking at data and facts, its pretty simple to see what happened. The three of them . I think the three of them and a lot of individuals. I sort of count myself as a factsbased pariah right now. If you look at the data and the facts, its not hard to see that January 6th was going to happen. The Information And Intel was there. However, people chose to ignore it on a pretty large scale. You cant imagine someone will seize the capital completely based on fantasy. We had people that might believe that the lord of the rings is a documentary. Thats the issue you have with these people. And looking where scott is going to come out, thats the scary part about this. And The General was completely right about general milley. Everyone was like, why didnt he come out and say something . The chain of command, he would have lost Maneuver Capability within inside the administration. If he would have came out and start talking about this, he would have immediately been ostracized and not been in the room. Now that youre seeing what he did and that he had to try to do this in a way that wasnt public and try to maneuver like that, my goodness, how difficult would that be chain of command, with me being a prior military veteran, The General is right about general milley, is that he did some amazing things behind the scenes. I would go to war with the guy. Were laughing about lord of the rings, but these were the very people that were involved in the insurrection, scott. I want to talk about the people who were charged. This week, we learned that a Trump State Department aide who was one of the rioters, chasing a Capitol Police Officer up the stairs, he is not going to go to court until september of 2022. Why on earth is this taking so long . When i get a ticket, i go the Traffic Court in three weeks. There are a few reasons, stephanie. First of all, federal courts tend to move slowly. They measure things in years and months, not days or weeks. But also, every case in the insurrection is going through one courthouse, stephanie. The d. C. Federal courthouse, which coincidentally is right here on capitol hill. They typically in that courthouse get about 200 to 300 cases a year. As of this morning, they have more than 500 insurrection cases alone. Plus, theyre trying to clear a backlog from covid, where trials were put on hold and jurors werent allowed in the building. So thats September 2022 date is striking, but therell be later dates in other cases. This could plead well into 2023. But ill note this, and Congressman Riggleman and i have talked about this. That Trial Date is right in the heart of Midterm Election Season and clearly this is going to be politicized. General milley says there is a good news story, he said that our government was bent, but it wasnt broken. I dont know, after this conversation, things feel pretty broken. Well leave it there. Coming up, Chuck Schumer pushing for a vote on the Infrastructure Proposal and democrats massive Spending Plan next week. Senate democrats want to move fast on infrastructure, so fast that majority leader Chuck Schumer is setting up next wednesday as a key date for advancing both a bipartisan bill on roads and bridges and the massive 3. 5 trillion agreement on things like medicare and education. Heres one really big problem. Neither bill has been written yet nbcs Garrett Haake is on capitol hill. Garrett, it does not sound like they have got their house in order. How is it that Chuck Schumer is forcing this timeline, to vote on one what . How many times have we talked about this, stephanie . That congress works better when they have a deadline. Except theyre meaningless. Well, well see. Thats the challenge here. But at least it gets the fire lit under these members to finish the work we have in front of them. We have a whole bunch of different priorities this summer that will need significant floortime. And schumer knows hes got to start the clock and get folks moving. The bipartisan Infrastructure Package is the closest to being ready for primetime for any of those big pieces, so it goes first. But the senators involved in drafting it are not happy about getting jammed in this way. Heres what Rob Portman, the chief republican author of this effort had to say about it yesterday. Were going to get it right. So we want to move as quickly as possible. And we think theres an opening now to get it done. Were not going to shortchange the process, because its important to get it right. Will you vote yes on cloture wednesday . Well see. You know, im not going to vote yes if we dont have a product. Reporter stephanie, anybody who was watching us back in 2017 remembers that Rob Portman was one of 49 republican senators who voted to go to conference on a republican Health Care Bill at the time they acknowledged was just a shell so they could finish working on a bill. The idea of voting to start debate on something that isnt done yet isnt wildly outside of the realm of how the senate works. I have got to ask you about this, because ive spoken to some of president Bidens Team members, economic team members, who have said, one of the most important parts of this bill is this tiny bit of funding to the irs. 40 Billion thats meant to go to the irs. And whats it going to do, bring in tax dollars. Not new taxes, no new regulations, but the irs has been underfunded for years. This new funding of the irs will empower them to actually collect all of that money from people who arent paying. Yet theyre now taking it out of the bill. Why on earth would day do that . Its the one thing in there with the biggest Return On Investment. Well, stephanie, i dont think its settled that its coming out, although that is part of the discussion. But why would it even be suggested . For a couple of reasons. Number one, youre trying to build bipartisan support on this. And there are republicans on the far end of the congressional spectrum, not involved in this direct negotiation, who think the irs should be gotten rid of entirely. There are republicans more towards the middle who think that the irs can be used for political means, to target conservatives or to target individuals. You can think about that what you will. And there are also folks who question the actual value of the Return On Investment here. That what that 40 Billion is going to get you. Does it really get you 100 Billion in new revenue, like the administration says . Or is the number much smaller than that . Theres also a concern that when this gets scored, when the congressional budget office, sort of the referees here look at this, theyll say, you cant get credit for money that were already supposed to be getting paid, just because now its in your wallet. Thats not how this works. There are a lot of challenges with this and it may have to go by the wayside. Well see what gets voted on next week. You could forget about credit and just get the money for any of those lawmakers who say they dont want that money collected, you may want to take a closer look at how they pay their taxes. Garrett haake, Thank You. Now to developing news out of new york. Nbc news has confirmed that governor Andrew Cuomo will be interviewed tomorrow as part of the state Attorneys Investigation into a series of Sexual Harassment allegations against him. Tom winter has been following this. Whats going on here . I think this is going to be a important marker as far as where we are in this investigation. As you said, Andrew Cuomo is expected to be interviewed this weekend. Hell be interviewed by June Kim and Anne Clark as well as two other prominent attorneys. They were hired and brought in to come in and conduct this investigation, so it can be conducted in an independent manner. They were tasked with, and sometimes this gets forgotten, not only looking at the behavior of the governor and what people say he did or things that he said to women, but also how his office handled those allegations and handled those claims when they were brought up and raised to them. So this is continuing ton an ongoing investigation. I think it signals that were close to The End of it. However, were told they could interview cuomo for a second time if they want to. If were looking at this in terms of a baseball game, definitely seventh or eighth inning here. And we are going to get a public report that is promised by law in the state of ngoc. Why the Attorney General is getting her weekly updates as she is allowed by State Law, we will see at The End of this public report. So, what kind of punishment could he face if they find out more information about these things, damning things . Could he get charged or impeached . What happens . Its a whole gamut of things. Certainly from an impeachment standpoint, since this is going to be public, the public will have an opportunity to review it. Obviously, State Lawmakers will have an opportunity to review it, as well. That might further inform them, if they want to move towards a path of impeachment. What do the voters and the people of new york want . Thats the political angle of it. From a potential Liability Standpoint from the governor, if theres found to be criminal conduct, Thats Something that the Attorney Generals office may be able to pursue it. They may be able to pursue it through a local district attorney, whether it be in albany or manhattan. Thats an option that they have and of course, there could be fines penalties they were found under State Law to have Run Afoul of the necessary reporting and the necessary things you need to do when somebody raises a complaint of Sexual Harassment in the workplace. And as i said, thats one of the things thats going to be looked at. So i think this really runs the gamut of things. Is there a potential criminal aspect of this . Is there going to be some sort of a fine or a civil component to it . And when we get this final report, how does it kind of feed into the political machine, if you will, steph. All right. When mia was 3, we were lucky enough to meet a trailblazer in the area of media access. Her name was Gayle Williamson and she told me a story that really resonated with me that ive never forgotten. In the late 80s there was a show that you may or may not remember called Life Goes On with an actor named chris burke. And he was really the first recurring role of a person with down syndrome. He was on this show called Life Goes On, and she told me when she would go to a restaurant with her son, blair, often waitresses wouldnt even acknowledge his presence, but as this show rolled out, she noticed a change in the Way Blair was treated. Whereas before, waitresses would ask her what he wanted for lunch or dinner, and then they started turning to him and ask him what he wanted. And that story just deeply resonated. And i said, lets make ourselves available. If we want to be in The Public Eye and affect the change in the lives of little children that have down Syndrome Or Anybody that has down syndrome, just by virtue of being seen, as visibility is the first step to acceptance, lets give it a shot. So we did and weve never looked back. But to that point, kara, youre not just providing inspiration for kids around the world who have intellectual disabilities. Can you talk to us about why representation is so important for all of us . Because as a society, as a culture, we tend to decide whats normal and whats not normal. And we need to understand. Thats right. Normalizing disability is so important. And having an inclusive society is so important. Thats why weve made the choice for mia to be fully included in her classroom really its so powerful, not just for mia to be included with her typical peers, but also, its important for those children to be exposed early on in life to somebody with a disability, because it impacts the way that they will behave later on in life, when they meet somebody thats differently abled or has an intellectual disability. So setting that path early is really important. Kara, we dont talk about people with intellectual disabilities as much as we should. How much progress do we still need to make . We have so far to go, stephanie, but each little incremental step is powerful and the world has changed one heart, one mind, and one conversation at a time. So as important as it is for people to be seen in media and commercials and for Legacy Brands to show the faces of people that are different, its equally as important to have that conversation in a Coffee Shop or to look at the child that may be staring at mia at target and to draw that in and say, do you have questions . Let us answer questions. And all of a sudden that interaction changes a heart. So we change hearts and minds one interaction at a time. You certainly are filling mine. Mia, you are only 10 years old and you are already a model. Do you knowmodel. Do you know what you want to be when you grow up . I want to be a doctor and help people. Wow what kind of doctor, do you want to help kids or grownups, maybe you could be a vet. I know you have a puppy. I want to be a dentist. A dentist . You know, that would be great for models because you could perfect everyones smile. Mia, if there was one thing you could say to kids out there, right here on television, right now, what would you like to say to america . I would like to say you have to treat people nicely. That we should treat people nicely . Yes. We absolutely should. Mia, great to meet you. Mia, whats the name of your dog . Hes really cute. Monkey blue is his name. Well next time he comes on, i hope you bring him, mia and kara, Thank You both so much for joining us this morning. Were going to be back. I hope meeting those two brightens your day. We showed you the historically low levels at Lake Mead where Water Supplies in several states are now hitting record lows and its already having major consequences. The Cattle Ranchers in arizona selling their herds because they dont have enough water to take care of them. Cal perry is on the ground. Thats crazy. Ranchers are selling their herd because they dont have water . Reporter yes, absolutely. Its happening across the country. If you go west into california, east from where i am into west texas, north, even into canada, whats happening is the heat is taking away the ability to feed the cattle. Its a water issue, as you just laid out, Lake Mead is dropping lower and lower. The lower is gets, the less Water Arizona can have. It is hitting these ranchers hard and out here, water is a lifeline. Take a listen. If you dont have rain, you dont have cows. If you dont have feed, you cant have cows and so it all boils down to the rain and the water. Right now, the cost of cattle are down because everybody was liquidating their herds, so now theyre worth less. There are Domino Effects that start happening with that. Reporter lori, who you heard from there is going to sell 200 heads of cattle august 1st, if it doesnt rain. They havent had monsoons in three years, something that arizona relies on and weve talked about this. This is a climate story. We are in a 21year drought. It is getting hotter out here, Record Temperatures are five, six degrees higher than normal. You add to that it is not raining, as i said, that is the major crisis out here and when they go to sell their cattle, theyre basically selling it at a reduced price. Not a market we talk about often, we probably should. The price of cattle has gone through the basement because everybody is selling, stephanie. Who do they sell the cattle to . Nobody has water. Reporter selling it to brokers, getting it into supermarkets, thats fine for the consumer now. Its next year when the prices will rise because this is an annual business. This is a business that goes cyclical, is a seasonal business but theres not any cattle until next year. Nobodys able to hold onto their herds because theyre getting skinny and dying on ranches, stephanie. Anybody who thinks climate is a weather issue, its an everything issue. Its an economic issue. Cal perry, Thank You. This is really important reporting. We appreciate you staying on it. That wraps up this busy hour. Very busy week. Im stephanie ruehl. Thank you for watching.
