You dont get anything. Well, under this proposal, guess what. Youre in a situation where if you have a child under the age of 7 you get back 3,600 in cash. Its not a credit against your taxes but a direct payment. Youll get cash, cash. Thats what youll get. For example, middle Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/class-family'>Class Family with two children can expect to receive 72,000. You get the first half, the 3,600 paid out at 600 a month between july and december and you get the rest between january and tax day. Theres one Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/tax-cut'>Tax Cut these studies show that Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/child-care'>Child Care is cutting poverty in half by 40 . We cant wait any longer to deal with climate crisis. We see with our own acts and its time to act, the bipartisan agreement that we reached have made some major strides. Its going to allow the transition for thousands of Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/old-school'>Old School buses, Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/diesel-buses'>Diesel Buses and city buses, well change them to electric buses. We need to go further. I want to set a clean electric standard that most of the us to a fully clone and reliable grid. And last week the congressional Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/budget-office'>Budget Office doubled their projections of the 2021 economic growth from 3. 2 to 7. 4 , and the ocde thinks it could be higher. That puts our Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/plan-and-work'>Plan And Work to move forward a lot of things, including were close to defeating the virus. The last time energy the economy grew at this rate was in 1984 and Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/ronald-reagan'>Ronald Reagan was telling us it was an american morning. Well, this is going to be an american century. [ applause ] with my american Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/families-plan'>Families Plan and the other elements of the build back better Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/agenda-experts'>Agenda Experts on wall street, analysts have said that well create millions of goodpaying jobs for years and decades to come. Not just in the near term, so im going to be making the case to Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/the-american'>The American Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/people-'>People until the job is done, until we bring this bipartisan deal home, until we meet the needs of families of today and the economy of tomorrow, and we can pay for it. Let me give you a rough example. This isnt you know, by the way, Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/the-american'>The American the plan for infrastructure is paid for. Its paid for, and this plan that im talking about, which is really expensive if you add it all up, well, guess what, the fact is that its paid for as well, and and let me tell you how were requesting to pay for it. Some of the ways to pay for it, the last couple of years, for example, 55 of the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/fortune-500'>Fortune 500 companies making billions of dollars did not pay a single penny in taxes, not one single cent. Well, i dont want to punish anybody, but everybody and i hope some day my grandchildren grow up to be billionaires, that would be wonderful, especially for a guy for 36 years was listed as the poorest man in the united states congress. But having said that, all kidding aside, everybody has to pay their fair share. Im not trying to gouge anybody. Everybody has to get in the game. If we put in place a minimum 15 tax on the profits of corporations, the ones who didnt pay any tax, that would raise a quarter of a trillion dollars, 240 billion. Theres a loophole in the system called steppedup basis that. Loophole goes if i made a Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/capital-gains'>Capital Gains and i was a wealthy person and i was going to cash in may stock and i was going to have to pay a tax and make, you know, 400,000 and i was going to pay Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/x-amount'>X Amount in taxes, if on the way to cash it if i get hit by a Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/truck-god'>Truck God forbid and died and i was tHroat my daughter there would be no tax paid. Its not an inheritance tax, its a Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/tax-due'>Tax Due ten seconds earlier. We close that loophole and that saves Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/400-billion'>400 Billion a year, not a year, Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/400-billion'>400 Billion over this period which is enough to pay for the child Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/child-care'>Child Care tax credit. If we end Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/tax-breaks'>Tax Breaks for Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/fossil-fuels'>Fossil Fuels and make pleuraters pay to clean up the messes they have made that would raise 90 billion. Im not asking them to do anything that is unfair. Just not going to subsidize them anymore. They are doing well, Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/thank-you'>Thank You, and the messes they made they should clean up. Well, if we ask the top 1 , and i hope many of you are in the top 1 , maybe. You know that Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/tax-cut'>Tax Cut that that was passed in 2017 was all all raised the deficit by over 2 trillion, not a penny paid for, and it didnt come back with anything. That that in fact, that entire 2 trillion, the vast majority went to the top tenth of 1 of Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/the-american'>The American Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/people-'>People. 1 you know, if 1 the folks in the top 1 , if they just paid their personal Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/income-tax'>Income Tax the same as the ones under president george bush, george w. Bush, that would generate Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/13-billion'>13 Billion a year. It would raise the tax from what it is now from 35 to 39 . Its not like this idea of listen to the guy who used to have this job and somehow were gouging Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/people-'>People. The fact of the matter is if youre a plumber and a teach ir, youre probably paying 25 , 26 . Some of you will be paying higher, but, here, look, its enough to provide for that one change, enough to provide for two years free Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/community-college'>Community College for every student in america. [ applause ] Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/people-'>People say that one of the purposes of taxes is to also generate growth along with making sure that we can pay for our basic needs. Let me ask you. What is more than likely to Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/growth-economy'>Growth Economy and enhance us . Continuing the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/tax-cut'>Tax Cut at 37 or spending having to pay 39. 5 generating economic growth because now you have a Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/tax-system'>Tax System that will allow millions of students to go to Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/community-college'>Community College. When i was with barack as Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/vice-president'>Vice President he asked me to do a study, and i spent and i your Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/sister-penny-pritzker'>Sister Penny Pritzker was part of my effort to taking care of it, and the effort was simple. We came along and said okay we did 300, i dont know the exact number of the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/fortune-500'>Fortune 500 companies. We said what do you need a more . Almost to a better they said i need a bettereducated work force. They are not prepared to pay for it. Imagine if we present the world, the nation with a better educated work force. I dont think weve got a bigger difference of opinion between the two parties over the best thing to do for america than we have right now, and there are a few democrats left in Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/rural-america'>Rural America and some others who would like to be more in the political center who may find this offensive. So monica, just before he made another pitch for that portion of his plan, the president also responded to senator mcconnells comment. Walk us tHrough what he had to say about them. He was asked about this exactly, amman. He was posed a question if Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/minority-leader'>Minority Leader Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/mitch-mcconnell'>Mitch Mcconnell is saying this is not going to happen. What are you prepared to do in response and the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/president-s'>President Said jokingly what do you mean . Mitch mcconnell loves our programs hemps touting them in kentucky. Remember, were talking about two very distinct things here. The initial bipartisan framework which deals with the more traditional infrastructure, your roads, bridges, waterway and broadband, this is something that weve seen Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/mcconnell-get-on-board'>Mcconnell Get On Board with and say that if Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/thats-something'>Thats Something were going to put his stamp of approval on many of the members will get in line but when it comes to the human infrastructure elements, the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/child-care'>Child Care and education components, many of which, by the way, if we remember were originally in that american jobs plan before they were stripped out in order to get an agreement with both republicans and democrats in terms what have we saw just a couple of weeks ago. The president came here and was very deliberate about the strategy. He said i want the other thing to proceed on a Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/twotrack-plan'>Twotrack Plan and he even talked about the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/reconciliation-process'>Reconciliation Process Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/thats-something'>Thats Something thats a little bit wonky, and they dont usually detail it outside of washington. Here in illinois he did explain it, and thats all part of a strategy the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/white-house'>White House says to have him be the explainer in chief, to come to places like michigan, wisconsin and today other in illinois and in counties that are actually a little more redleaning. This one was narrowly won by Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/president-trump'>President Trump in 2020. The american Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/people-'>People believe that that will be effective. They believe they could see a repeat what have happened with Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/the-american'>The American Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/rescue-plan'>Rescue Plan and Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/covid-relief'>Covid Relief in that if it has a boost in public polling it helps them make an argument. Both of these things are going down very different paths which the president was quite clear about heres and he drew on his own personal experience, those five years he spent as a single father after his first wife died saying it was very difficult for him to secure things like Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/child-care'>Child Care while he was working so he came to a Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/community-college'>Community College, to this campus specifically where students who ren rolled can enroll their kids in Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/child-care'>Child Care, and he touted things like that as saying this is why we need Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/the-american'>The American Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/families-plan'>Families Plan. Thats his argument, and he wanted to come and make it outside of the beltway, but what kind of a path it faces on Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/capitol-hill'>Capitol Hill is another matter as, again, democrats are the only ones likely to pursue it tHrough the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/reconciliation-process'>Reconciliation Process which does not require republican votes. Anna, lets talk about the path back tHrough the beltway as monica was talking about for this. Could the fight over the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/reconciliation-portion'>Reconciliation Portion of the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/infrastructure-package'>Infrastructure Package affect the main bipartisan bill, and the more moderate members of the senate democratic caucus, folks like Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/joe-manchin'>Joe Manchin and Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/senator-sinema'>Senator Sinema on board with this Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/reconciliation-package'>Reconciliation Package. Absolutely. You basically hit the nail on the head there in terms of the tricky basically dynamics that the president and the senate and the democratic Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/leader-chuck-schumer'>Leader Chuck Schumer is having to deal with when it comes to this package. I think youre going to see a lot of Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/climate-activists'>Climate Activists and others on the left happy that Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/joe-biden'>Joe Biden really details those, you know, where he sees climate and being so important because theres been a lot of frustration among the left that the president hasnt been putting enough pressure on this human Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/infrastructure-package'>Infrastructure Package, the climate to be a part of it and then on the other side of things, you have Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/joe-manchin'>Joe Manchin and Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/kyrstyn-sinema'>Kyrstyn Sinema who have not signed on this Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/infrastructure-package'>Infrastructure Package saying were working on the hard Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/infrastructure-package'>Infrastructure Package, deal that the senate has negotiated. We still dont have all of the details there which is going to be very tricky in the first place, much less trying to do this second track of the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/reconciliation-package'>Reconciliation Package. Thats how much of a process, and i think one of the things that i continue to say its not as if all of the democrats agree on what should actually be in that Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/reconciliation-package'>Reconciliation Package thats going to be very difficult for them to get it done. Yeah, not to mention, yamiche, that depending on who you asked, the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/messaging-mixup'>Messaging Mixup when the president first announced this and all kinds of Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/people-'>People were saying this was the president fumbling the messaging on this thing and he wouldnt sign it until, you know, the bipartisan one he wouldnt sign the bipartisan one unless the other one makes its way tHrough. What do we know about what the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/white-house'>White House, yamiche, intends to do to get p. W. Botha bills across the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/finish-line'>Finish Line . What the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/white-house'>White House is going to do is to push and remind congress that they want to see both of these bills on the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/president-s'>President S desk. The president wants to see them in tandem. He has walked back the idea that theres an ultimatum that he would veto one without the other. Lets be clear, as anna and others have reported, democrats have been very clear that these two bills need to move at the same time. Well, we know very little, and thats kind of the crux of whats the problem with haiti is that its a place a failed state is a very insulting term so i wont go there, but its a place where international aid has propped up a state thats barely functioning and kind of allowed it to continue to barely function. You know, the fact that we know very little and theres very little transparency over what happened, what unfolded last night, the fact that reporters havent really been able to go into the scene and the fact that these kidnappers are at large and the fact that the state seems to know very little about them, not these kidnappers but these assassins, but all of this kind of comes to the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/boiling-point'>Boiling Point which is that haiti is barely surviving at this point and new solutions need to need a to be brought forth to fix the country. Talk to us about the last couple of months that led us up to this moment. Moise took office in 2017. We saw protests against the president in the months leading up to his death. Why were there protests, and what will his legacy as a leader be today . Well, his legacy will be a president that was deeply unpopular. He won the vote with 600,000 votes which was barely 18 of the actual those who were eligible to vote. He continued to rule. He increasingly ruled by decree. When parliament expired last year he didnt call for elections. He only called for elections this year and wanted to hold those elections in september which was going to be in tandem with a constitutional referendum which would have done things like increase the Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/militarys-role'>Militarys Role in in the country and allow Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/president-s'>President S to run for two consecutive terms because at this point those terms are capped. Obviously thats based on some local reporting that those who carried out this assassination were identifying themselves as dea agents, some speaking spanish and english saying this is a dea operation. Do we know, maria, just generally from the culture in haiti, are there the presence of security contractors, you know, rogue elements, gangs, because the way that this is being described from haitian officials is that it was a pretty sophisticated operation in terms of who might have been on the ground with that tactical ability to carry out this type of attack. Well, there have been some accusations as recently as june actually that that the very wealthy who live in kind of their own enclave in the hills above portauprince had actually hired foreign mercenaries. At this point many Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/people-'>People dont trust the police or other elements of the security services, and many Href='https://vimarsana.com/news/people-'>People are starting to take, you know, matters in their own hands by hiring foreign mercenaries. We cannot prove that at this point. However, i can tell you that the that the the way that they stormed the compound that the president lived in was very sophisticated.
