It was thursday in March Of 2019 and the airline very suddenly ceased all operations and canceled all of its flights leaving while airlines passengers stranded all across Europe And North america, including people who are in the middle of multi part trips. While airlines eventually once in to complete bankruptcy and sold off its entire fleet of planes and that might have been The End of the story of Little Upstart Wow Air. But then six months after Wow Air abruptly canceled its flights and left all its passenger stuck all over the place, this lady turns up. An american. She showed up in iceland and she said that she was bringing great news. She was bringing Wow Air back to life. She held a Press Conference and a Hotel Conference Room in reykjavik and september 2019. She announced that Press Conference that her company which is called u. S. Aerospace associates, she announced that they had bought wow errors assets and new Wow Air flights were gonna start up between washington d. C. And iceland in october of 2019. This was in september of 2019. She was holding this Press Conference as she was saying Wow Air, which as a vast moment did not exist. It would be flying again in a month. In a month . Really . And even at the time, it did smell a little weird. I mean, wow had sold off all of its planes. This person was all by herself at this big table. Only wows lawyer was there with her and you can see they tried to make it Look official. They set up little icelandic in american flags like maybe shes kind of a diplomat or something. They also put a little model of Awhile Airplane there with the flags. That was all thats left of the Airlines Fleet which is just toils and models which would be hard to fly people around and even the best of circumstances. The other sign that something might have been a little wrong here was that nobody was entirely sure of this womans name. Local media at the time covering this Press Conference, which is big News Right . Water is coming back. Local media describing the Press Conference didnt know how to describe how to name the woman who was making this pronouncement about Wow Air. Ultimately the icelandic reporters throughout their hands and decided they were just gonna call her michelle. Quote, the Business Woman has operated Cargo Flights in africa, owns an Arms Company in the united states but also restaurants. She engaged in real Estate Business and ran her own investment bank, or so she says. But when it comes to Wow Air, quote, not much has happened. While is not up and running or flying although michel has repeatedly announced news reported highlevel appointments in iceland, russia, and italy, discussed how while will also be flying from italy and even her involvement in the restructuring of the italian Airline Alitalia. Yes, one thing they discovered is that michelle, choose any of the last names youd like, its not just doing this in iceland. She came could be doing a similar something with other airlines and other countries. From the icelandic report, quote, she claimed that a large announcement on a new project was due. The restoration of the Airline Alitalia and that she would be involved in the project at the request of the italian government. A quote in the newspaper described this in a sarcastic way. Michelles Representative Outlined Ideas similar to those she has for a new wow. Two months later, there was no news and when the italian government announced The End of our tally at The End of the year, there was no mention of Michelle Roosevelt edwards or her company, u. S. Will that again is very exciting if it bears any relationship to reality with the icelandic journalists found that her bid to buy shares of iceland and was actually rejected. Reportedly on that claim that there was no money behind the bed, but claimed to own any shares of that company are totally false. And again, maybe the seems like a kind of weird sidebar story. If you dont have any skin in any of these games. But for iceland, for that country where the whole population that country is half the population of washington d. C. And its airlines in Tourism Industry are the only linchpin for the whole Country Right . Its like Fishing And Tourism right . Its sort of worth figuring out who is messing with them like this. This is a really important part of their national economy and indeed their international standing. So the journalist from this icelandic Tv News Show started by trying to just chase down the actual name of this american woman making all these claims about the countrys airlines. They pretty quickly got from the there is no answer to the Name Question to the closely followed on revelation that there was more than a little three Card Monsey going on here. They started to treat the story like they had basically head upon an american con artist. So this is icelandic News Crew meant to be heard. They flew the united states to find her and interview her, try try to get to the bottom of this. And for their visit, she welcomed them to this sprawling estate. A historic 22 Bedroom Mansion over 1400 acres in virginia. She gives them a tour, she tells them it takes 11 people employed fulltime just to manage the grounds. She shows them the three kitchens. She says they are all in operation and the chef is on duty but instead of a chef actually preparing any food that they can see, there was a guy and a Chef Hat setting up Dunkindonuts Coffee for them . That is with the shifted. Nice hat though. And this woman proceeds to deflect all of the reporters questions about why where saying things are happening soon and she cant reveal all her plans but flights are gonna start any minute now and theyre gonna be great. And that is just absolutely remarkable thing happens at The End of the interview. Just watch this. Here is where the Washington Post went in that direction in the first place. Quote, late last december, december 2020, as President Donald Trump pressed senior officials to find proof of Election Fraud, white House Chief of Staff Mark meadows emailed acting Attorney General jeffrey rosen, emailed him a letter detailing an outlandish theory of how an italian Defense Contractor had conspired with u. S. Intelligence to rig the 2020 president ial election. The letter. Was printed under the letterhead of Usa Aerospace partners, a little known Virginia Aviation company. This in early january 2021, a second virginia firm, the institute for good governance, and a Partner Organization released a statement from an italian attorney who claimed that a hacker had admitted involvement in the supposed conspiracy to rig the 2020 election against Donald Trump. According to the conspiracy, which is now become known as Italy Gate, people working for an italian Defense Contractor, in coordination with senior cia officials, they used military satellites to switch from trump to biden, and swing the results of the election. Theres all comes from that little known aviation company, but the Washington Post discovered these two companies, usaerospace associates, whose letterhead was on top of the Trump Head of staff had forwarded to the Attorney General. But how did the fake Bow Tie Ladies Letter about the italian satellites stealing the election from trump, or whatever, how did that make it into the White House . According to reporting from both the Washington Post and talking points memo, it may have been this woman who you see doing multiple Rightwing Radio shows interviews. She runs a Conspiracy Website Thats Url is, i kid you not, the Web Address of her firm is, italydidit. Com . That is why the dress, italydidit. Com . He claims to have gone to a Christmas Eve party at maralago last year after the election where she had an opportunity to sell Donald Trump personally indirectly about the italygate conspiracy. The italygate from the lady who pretends to live in that big mansion who said she was going to revive Wow Air, yeah. And you know, at what level this is like the definition of ridiculous and stupid. At some point, frankly, if you are feeling empathetic, and implicate sort of personal concerns or stability concerns about some of the people involved, scams or one thing, sure. But total delusional Fantastical Thinking and projections of grandiosity and all of this stuff, you kind of have to almost Art Feeling bad for people in circumstances like this. But then you see how this isnt an isolated thing. Just makes you worry about the people involved. Then you see how this actually fits into what is going on in the Republican Party, right now. And what it has done to the whole idea of republican governance. I mean, these documents that were generated by these companies, belonging to the realtor, and you know, the bow Tie Lady was pretending that the mansion was her house so she is about to launch an icelandic airline out of thin air in the next five minutes. These documents you created ended up getting stovepipe to the very top of the united States Department of justice. Those documents were sent literally, personally, to the Attorney General by the white House Chief of staff. Who was telling the Attorney General that the Attorney General wants to investigate these things. And as crazy as that is, and as much of a conundrum that this now poses for the people who are now in charge of the Justice Department and who have to figure out how much of this trash in their workplace they are going to dig out, and how much of it can just lay around stinking and maybe it will dissolve. All right, the fact remains that this kind of stuff is the foundation, is what has led to this fantasy on the right, and this pretext in the Republican Party that there was something gravely wrong with the election. Right . This is the same level of thinking, the same types of conspiracies created by the people, promoted by the people who are running the cockamamie arizona fake audit, right . Run by Cyber Ninjas. And i just point out one other element, the lady with the fake house who said that it was her house and it was in her house. Remember she was Michelle Ballarin and then she was Michele Lyn golden and now she is Michele Roosevelt edwards. That kind of thing seems to be a thing among these folks. The adding of impressive old tiny american names to whatever their names started as. The Arizona Circus . One of the key people involved in that, at the guy who is the Magic Secret Technology that would not allow the examination of the ballots to show all of the fraud that you can see by Looking at the paper, he has gone through a name or to himself in recent years. The most recent iteration of his name uses the word of pulitzer. The most recent integration of her name, in virginia, uses the word roosevelt. I mean, im sure that these things make them feel very important. In arizona, today, it was Washington State republicans from the Washington State Legislature who were the latest republican State Officials to tour the Arizona Mess in order to try to copy it from their own state. So, you know, get ready. Theres probably some qanon activists renaming himself Einstein In Washington right now who is going to be leading the effort up there, because hes got magic technology and tons of Money And Access to secret intelligence, and have your Red Light translated documents. It is. Part of me struggles with like, is It Worth figuring out how all these people are . And what it is there promoting . But then you see how it is being used, and you sort of cant afford not to follow it. It is really. It is something to have to balance on the one hand the cheap, low rent, hilarious Bananas Conspiracy Fantasy con artistry, Grift Stuff here. From Italy Gate to the qanon conferences that Mike Flynn is Making Money at now. To the arizona Cyber Ninjas thing. To the one they want to do like that in georgia. I mean, it is one thing to notice how low rent and calm khamenei this stuff is. And forgive me, crazy people who are balanced with how people are being used as the Republican Party to justify Mass Crackdown on Voting Rights. Because of the hysteria that the vague and hysteria that has been bolstered by all of the conspiracies about what nefarious thing happened at the election. This is the stuff that builds the plymouth, plinth, on which the Republican Party is building its current platform. Right . They take over Election Administration procedures for their party alone, wherever they can do it in draconian and also Rollback Voting rights, and Ballot Access everywhere they can control it in the states. They started from the key inside that people should only call and contact and pressure their own member of congress, their own senators. They helped people follow the simple path of doing that, calling your member of congress and showing up at his or her office and asking for Town Halls and getting lots of people to get to go to those Town Halls to express themselves. Writing letters and editorials in local papers. Senators and members of congress getting press hard and consistently, locally by people who are definitely their own constituents. That was their secret sauce. Now indivisible is trying to do it again. By now youve probably seen the same sort of gloomy headlines we saw in 2017 about the affordable Care Act that are being written this time about Voting Rights. About the for the people act is coming up in the senate tomorrow. But in the visible is still around bigger than ever and theyre trying again, again against the odds and theyre calling on people to call their senators, records personal videos about Voting Rights and write letters to the editor, visit congressional offices and showing up a Town Halls and rallies to keep the pressure on congress and theyre kind of locate high Pack Activism has been very effective over the past few years whether youre senators or members of congress are with you or against you in these issues, the key is to stay focused on the people who have to listen to you because you are there constituent. The headlines right now say the democratic effort to Backstop Voting rights in the for the people act is about to fail. Its about to hit a Brick Wall and there is no way over or under or around that are on either side. But you know Heres President obama and Eric Holder holding a national teleTown Hall on it today called on the line. Heres the Washington Post Editorial Board who is been quite conservative on this issue saying that if that bill doesnt get republican support, democrats change that filibuster to pass the Voting Rights to only their votes and that is not a Washington Post Editorial Board kind of position but they feel like they are up against the wall. And heres indivisible again pulling out all the stops and asking people to turn up the pressure in every state of the country and targeting your own senators and on member of congress. They have been effective at changing the course of congress in the past against the odds and effective enough that Tonight on the eve of the senate, finally taking up the voting Rights Bill its worth checking and with them to get their sort of prognostication on how this is going to go. I think were going to see us get off to the races tomorrow. When we are not heading towards a break while were heading towards a Speed Bump but this is all part of the plan so weve got to put tomorrow and context. There are several steps to this piece of legislation coming up. First the for the people act as it passed the house. They did that. Then they have to go to the senate and go through the process and go through markup and go through weve done all that. Now the next step in this process is we have to debate whether there will be a debate. That is with the voters tomorrow. The Vote Tomorrow is not on the for the people act. The vote is whether or not the senate should consider the for the people act and this is what were pretty darn sure is going to happen. Mitch mcconnell and the entirety of the republican caucus is going to say no. We dont want a debate for Voting Rights. We do not want to debate Voting Rights. Despite the avalanche of Voting Suppression happening across the country. We dont want to beat that and thats the filibuster. Theyre gonna use the filibuster to kill it. Now we do not expect them to report the filibuster tomorrow. Thats not actually what we expect. Instead what we expect this for the bill to be able. The democratic caucus is Gonna Go into a room by themselves and talk to each other and then theyre Gonna Go on recess and theyre Gonna Go on congressional recess and go back home to their districts over the course of the 4th of July Holiday and then theyre gonna figure out what they do when they come back. And Look, politicians have a very scientific method for figuring out what theyre going to do. They like their finger. They stick it up into the air and they see which way the wind is going to blow and that is how theyre gonna determine what happens in july ended for successful in changing the way the wind blows over the course of July 4th recess, theyre gonna take this up again. Theyre gonna amend the filibuster and theyre gonna pass these Voting Rights. The discussion about whether or not democrats can find a way to pass this as you say is about whether or not they can amend the Filibuster Rule so that they can essentially pass this with a majority vote. They can pass it with 50 democratic votes. I feel like the coverage of that is often sort of black and white. Light switch on and off, youre either gonna have the filibuster or not. It does seem like if this is gonna happen the more likely outcome is kind of more of a Dimmer Switch and then an on and off light switch. They could find a way to strengthen the Filibuster Or Reform the filibuster or alter the filibuster or have some sort of carved out for the filibuster. In a way that theyve done on nominations, judicial nominations and other things in the past, specifically to protect Voting Rights. Do you think that is the way that this will likely go if it does go forward . But theyll find a narrow path to doing this . I think thats exactly right. Theyre going to debate how to input the strength of the filibuster in order to have this vote and i think theres a lot of ways to skin this cat, rachel. Weve seen proposals to lower the Voting Threshold from 60 down to 55 down to 50 which weve seen proposals for Democracy Bells and there are a lot of ways you can make commitments. Its not really black or white right now but ultimately the guide for whether or not this reforming the filibuster will work is, does the majority does the Senate Majority have the ability to call an upper down vote on a piece of legislation . Or does Mitch Mcconnell and the Senate Minority have the ability to either Straightup Veto as theyre going to do tomorrow or do they have the ability to delay for months and months and effectively veto . So with just a 50 democratic votes has the ability to change that rule. They contagious whatever they want and over the course of the 4th of July Recess we dont need to get into the weeds of is it this reformer that reform . What were calling for Is American Democracy to continue functioning. Were calling for voting Rights Reform that is widely popular that 70, or 80 of americans in some states support. So for you going out your senators Town Hall or your senators congressional office this weekend or next weekend or the weekend after that, you dont need to get into details of procedural rules in the senate. You just need to say are you going to pass Democracy Reforms or not . If not why not and dont Talk To Me about some procedural issue . Pass this bill im going to be watching you and thats important whether or not youre in a red state, whether youre in a purple state or whether youre in a Deep Blue state. We need every single senator to be hearing from their constituents and to be feeling that fire from their constituents.
