Welcome back to our Special Coverage of President Biden on his first, big trip abroad to meet with the leaders of the worlds largest economies. A return to facetoface diplomacy, after covid shut down the world. President biden is getting ready to kick off a busy day to urge g7 nations to take a tougher stance toward china. The president , today, also, set to meet with the leader of france, emmanuel macron, as the G7 Leaders tackle the pandemic and the struggling economies of lowincome nations. The g7 nations facing some criticism that the 1 Billion in pledged vaccines to lowincome nations just isnt enough. And next up on President Bidens trip, a meeting with nato allies setting the scene for the highly anticipated sitdown with Vladimir Putin In Geneva next week. Putin sat down for an exclusive interview with Nbcs Keir simmons, his First American Tv Interview in three years. Translator i believe that former u. S. President , mr. Trump, is an extraordinary individual, talented individual. He is a colorful individual. President biden, of course, is radically different from trump because President Biden is a career man. A different kind of person. More from that interview coming up, this hour. We will also have more details on what putins meeting with Biden Will look like. And where are the protestors . Less of them, at this g7. Leaders sealed from the outside world because of covid. Although, there are a few protestors out there. Calling on the worlds biggest polluters to help poor nations who are on the front lines and feeling the impacts of climate change. Back with me, now, nbc news chief foreign affairs correspondent, Andrea Mitchell. And nbc news White House correspondent, mike memoli. Great to have both of you. Set the scene for us, andrea. Whats on the Agenda Today . What are you going to be watching for . I am going to see how the other leaders react to President Bidens really aggressive criticism of china. This is a newlyarticulated u. S. Policy. We were briefed on it last night. And it is much more aggressive than anything he has said, previously. And it does differ from the approaches On Trade and investment. With china. Of some of his closest allies. Germany and france and the uk. So how are they going to react . How are they going to, you know, join together . They have precooked a closing document. And i expect that its going to be, pretty much, articulated as as the president has laid it out here. And It Will name china. It will, also, come out against the chinese Labor Practices that have been so widely criticized Around The World. But are they going to put their money where their mouth is . Are they going to, you know, follow up and change their economic policies . Their relationships with china . Based on object objecting to those abhorrent slaveLabor Practices. That remains to be seen. The other thing is, of course, how they are going to approach russia. And there, i think, while they are not really united in the approach to Vladimir Putin. They will say the right things. They will be critical of him and of his aggressive stance. While, at the same time, trying to maintain their own, economic ties to russia because of geography. They have these close relationships, because they need that Enemy Energy Relationship with russia. And they dont view him quite as adversarial as the u. S. Does. But again, also, what are they going to say about cyber . You know, what can they really do about this cyberthreat . The u. S. Has weapons, has capacity to go on offense. But that could tip off the kind of coldwar escalation that We Saw in the nucleararms race. And there are no winners, in that. Mike, let me go back to china, for a second. Because this build back better for the World Initiative that is going to be announced today to address what the White House has talked about this as this huge gap in the world, between rich and poor countries. And infrastructure. Its very interesting, that one of the things that they have said about this is that its not about making countries choose between us and china. But offering an alternativeaffirmative vision. But in the very real world of the economies, and how many of the European Nations economies and trade is tied to china. Isnt that, in some ways, exactly, what theyre being asked to do . Well, chris, this is, i guess, in one word, diplomatic, right . This is, i think, also, so hard in any President S firstforeign trip. Not to compare the new President S approach to the last President S approach. Its especially hard not to do that, when you follow a Donald Trump with a Joe Biden. And i think, if you look at the way the president is trying to rally the g7 around a common approach to china, versus the Way President Trump was, very much, focused singularly on the u. S. China bilateral relationship. Remember, so much of trumps political rhetoric was about the ways, in which he felt that china was taking advantage of the u. S. And he wanted to repair and and strengthen our Trade Practices with them. What biden sees is a china, which is spreading its influence Around The World. Through what is called the beltandroad initiative. Helping to finance majorinfrastructure projects in the developing world. And in doing so, really, immersing itself in that country. And so, this new and its funny not to its hard not to look at that slogan, what they are calling it. Building back better. That was Joe Bidens campaign economic slogan and hes rallied the other g7 countries around this idea that we need to be offering our alternative to that. Yes, we all have our own, domestic infrastructure challenges. Biden knows that as well as anybody, as he is trying to pass an Infrastructure Plan in back home, in congress. But this is his alternative to saying we can leverage all of our respective strengths. And build on the democratic principles, and help spread them through the western world to try to counter what china is doing. And so, thats the argument hes been making behind the scenes to our fellow leaders. We cant let china take the lead here. And thats been the larger framing of this trip. That democracies work, and can help shape the future in a much better way than autocracies can. Which brings us back to Vladimir Putin who sat down with an exclusive interview with keir simmons. His First American television interview, in three years. Here is keir, pressing putin on the crackdown against the opposition. The late john mccain, in congress, called you a killer. When President Trump was asked was told that you are a killer, he didnt deny it. When President Biden was asked, whether he believes you are a killer, he said, i do. Mr. President , are you a killer . Translator over my tenure, i have gotten used to attacks from all kinds of angles and from all kinds of areas, under all kind of pretext and reaps and of different Caliber And Fierceness and none of it surprises me. So as far as harsh rhetoric, i think this is an expression of overallu. S. Culture. Of course, in hollywood. There are some underlying deep things in hollywood. Macho. Which can be treated as cinematic art. By the way, not here. It is not considered normal here. Andrea, our colleague, keir simmons, clearly, went into that to play. He was very well prepared. We could see his strategy. But i im so curious, what youre hearing about White House officials about Joe Bidens strategy as he heads into the meeting with Vladimir Putin . He is going to be very pragmatic and realistic. He is well prepared. Hes not Donald Trump. Hes not walking in, and going to be spun. And believe anything that putin says. He will push back. Hell try not to get trapped into a long back and forth, as as we say, you know, the what aboutism. You know, you say that i crack down on navalny. What about January 6th . What about the fact that the capitol was attacked . You know, what about George Floyd . What about black Lives Matter . Protests all over america last summer . So, that that is a you know, a Nowin Proposition for biden. To be to spend the time, in an argument, about the u. S. , rather than talking about what he believes are the problems with russia. What is widely believed, by westernintelligence agencies, to be russian hacking. You know, russian cyberattacks. Russia, now, hoping Iran Militarizes further with advanced satellite technology, at least according to one report. Which keir asked about. And, you know, putin brushed off and denied. They did nothing like that. But, you know, there is a lot of intelligence about russian aggression, elsewhere. In fact, on monday, we are going to hear more of the interview, all of the interview, on the Today Program and Keir Messaged that he did bring up something that i have a great interest in. Which is russias objections at the Security Council United Nations to the last remaining humanitarian corridor from turkey from the west, into syria. Where 4 Million people are starving and living in Tent Encampments because theyve been bombed by, both, assad and russia. And are viewed as opponents of the assad regime. So i was just there, last week, with u. N. Ambassador. And she is trying to bring, you know, attention to this. We understand that President Biden is going to bring that up with Vladimir Putin In Geneva. But keir asked him about it, and im not sure, yet. We are going to put that on, on monday. Exactly what he said about whether he is going to back down and what price he may demand for backing down. Because one of the concerns is that he will demand the lifting of sanctions on the assad regime. The brutalassad regime, which now has gained regained, with russian backing, control of 70 of syria ten years into that civil war. So, theres so many issues Around The World and ukraine. Obviously, front and center. That the president really wants to bring up and press home. But also, the attacks on our election the solarwinds, other attacks, the cyberattacks. You know, there is a long list of russian aggression. But he does want to work with russia, on arms control, chris. Yeah. When he says he wants to work on things like climate, iran, and arms control, he is very serious about that. And i think he will pivot the conversation and try to be constructive. You have given a great outline of the complexities and the depth of what is going to be happening in that meeting and why we are all looking at it so closely. Andrea mitchell, thank you. Mike memoli, as well. We want to let you know the president has left for the second day of these meetings, that he is going to have with the other G7 Leaders. Right now, the global economic recovery is increasingly looking like a tale of two realities. Wealthier nations, like those at the g7, are set to reap the benefits of what reports say may be the fastest Recession Recovery in decades on the back of a strongvaccine rollout. But for lowerincome countries, Vaccine Distribution is still a struggle. And their economic recoveries are struggling, along with it. Widening an alreadychasmlike globalWealth Gap. Joining me now is jillian, chair of the Editorial Board and financial times. Also, author of the book how anthropology can explain business and life. So great to see you, jillian. Look, we know this Wealth Gap exists. The i guess, the question is do leaders at the g7 see this tale of two economic realities, as a priority . I think they do. And heres whats fascinating. The g7 is a gigantic, ceremonial ritual fest. And you might say, well, ritual, Who Cares . Its all empty, it doesnt correspond to real life. But as an anthropologist, one of the arguments in anthrovision is rituals matter because they represent an idealized vision of the world and what is fascinating right now is that if you look at the ideal in something called the Cornwall Consensus, that is a memo that was floating around the g7. And compare it to what was around 30 years ago, it is very different because 30 years ago, what the richest countries in the world were talking about was free markets, competition, globalization, growth. Now, what that Coremore Consensus are talking about, unlike the oldwashington consensus, is about things like inclusion. Resilience. Climate change. Pandemics. Vaccine. Issues that were, very much, not on the table 30 years ago. And now, theyre symbolically all over the place. And i think there is a new realization, as for covid19, that the richest countries of the world ignore the rest of the world, at their peril. Not least, because they are faced with a rising china, and they realize they need to rally together to counter that. And also, frankly, to offset a backlash against Globalization And Democracy in their own countries. Yeah. So, i mean, it is interesting. The president , obviously, arguing to sort of keep the economic taps open. To keep things flowing. I mean, the very first sign of that, We Saw, was this billionVaccine Doses. But in the big picture, how does that fit into the Cornwall Consensus . Well, i think, that providing these Vaccine Doses as part of their attempt to show that they want to rally themselves and the rest of the world to really show that they are not going to let china, essentially, take the lead in this. They are, also, talking about things like infrastructure. Again, to try and counter the chinese Belt And Road initiative. They are talking about finding ways to look at, sort of, common economic growth. Again, to try and counter china. Supplychain issues. Time and again, its very much about trying to provide a United Front of liberal democracies. Now, Will It Work . We dont, yet, know. But whats striking is that we had this new, ritualistic gesture of solidarity where, frankly, elbow to elbow is a new Face To face, as one of my colleagues points out. What you are seeing is, very much, a mood of attempted Empathy And Understanding for each other. As opposed to the kind of antagonism you had, you know, under the previous administration. And frankly, again, you can elb. Thats the new Face To face for the modern world. Interesting, you have even got Joe Biden essentially wearing almost exactly the same outfit as Boris Johnson was yesterday. There is an awful lot of empathy and, you know, mutual support going on which is a very different theme. But i suspect this is going to be the theme going forward as we eerj emerge into the hopefully, post pandemic world. Under sort of the topic of Will It Work, i want to ask you about something else the president is winning support for. And thats this 15 globalminimum tax. Linked to where companies make money, not just where they locate their headquarters. The g7 is endorsing it. But is it going to really work . Are we going to get everybody onboard . You have countries like ireland opposing it because it doesnt suit their economic model. Where do you see it going . Its going to be tough. You have already seen a lot of signs the President S going to have problems in his own congress getting this through. You have got opposition from republicans. To carve out certain niches of the Business World like financial sector. So its going to be tough but the reality is they put it on the table. It is a tangible thing that they are trying to break the mold and actually talk about. And i think there is a recognition, in most of the g7 countries. That some kind of Globaltax Deal will be needed to, again, to address the questions of inclusion. Inclusion, resilience. These are the newbuzz words. And its very striking that theyre trying. So, i say 50 50. But i say they are, certainly, trying to do this. And i think something will come out of it. Always good to see you. Thank you so much. We appreciate your time, today. And just ahead. Once bitten, twice shy. President biden said america is back. You can trust us. But after the lastfour years, will he be able to convince some of it . This is msnbc reports. Or is that the damp weight of selfawareness you now hold in your hands . Yeah laugh keep your downstairs dry with Gold Bond body powder. The message President Biden wants to be heard Around The World. America is back. But is that Message Sticking . Joining me now, nbc news chief foreign affairs correspondent, Andrea Mitchell. Washington post White House correspondent, anne gearan. And New York Times London Bureau chief, mark landler. I want to start with President Bidens message, pushing this message of friendship. The promise that america is back, after a tumultuous four years for the transatlantic partnership under President Trump. How is this message being received on the ground there . The optics are really wonderful. They are feeling like Joe Biden is sort of putting his arm around President Macron of france. He is stealing quiet moments with the leaders, in a way that his predecessor, Donald Trump, didnt. So, on the level of, kind of, Body Language and personal dynamics. I think its been a very big success. The the underlying question, of course, is how does that translate into policy . And for all of this, kind of, surfacegood will and good feeling, there are, still, as you guys have noted on the show, issues that potentially divide our European Allies from the united states. Notably, on china. To some extent, on russia, as well. So, i guess, the big test of this g7 is can Joe Biden translate this very strong shift in tone . This much greater degree of good will, into real collaboration with the allies . I think thats theres probably a good deal of optimism, on the part of the u. S. Administration. But the answer to that remains to be seen. Yeah. And i think it is the key question, anne gearan, about what actually comes out of it. And i am very curious, given your experience and the many g7s that you have covered over the years, well, All Of You have. What you see the chances are, that something tangible will come out of this . That the photo ops and the, frankly, the personal relationships that have been forged over decades. Will actually yield some results . Yeah. Chris, i mean, i think what ever comes out of It Will be more symbolic than substantive. But today is actually a pretty good test of that. The president , President Biden, is going into some sessions, today, with more specific requests of his colleagues at the g7, certainly than Donald Trump ever made. And these are these relate to china. The united states would like the other g7 countries to sign up to some statements that are rhetorically fairly tough on china. Countering chinese infrastructure development. Whats called the beltandroad initiative. And also, countering the chinese well, saying something very powerful in against the chinese use of forced labor. It remains to be seen, whether those things will be in the final communique from the g7. But the fact that the president is raising it, and asking for support really shows that he is actually trying to get something out of the the better mood that All Of You have described. Lets address, if we can, andrea, the one of the major underlying problems for President Biden. Which is that, after the four years of Donald Trump, there is a lot of questions and concerns by our strategic partners. Our allies there, at the g7, about what happens four years from now . Any commitments that the united states makes, will they still exist . And and how the biden administration is approaching that. Because they certainly know its out there. You know, its difficult to overstate the damage done by the president , formerPresident Trump, getting out of the iran nuclear deal, for instance. And refusing to sign the paris climate accords because that was a break with the tradition that one administration would at least continue u. S. Foreign policy. Once commitments were made. And while it was not a treaty, you know, signed and delivered and senate ratified. The iran deal was a multilateral agreement, joined by all of our allies and the european union. And, you know, that was really a stark reminder to the European Allies. The big three, the uk, germany, and france, who tried so hard to prevent it. And then, tried so hard to preserve the core of the agreement. At least as much as they could. Until iran really broke out from it, in the last year. And made it impossible for them to ignore those transgressions. But also, for our adversaries. For north korea, for instance, to think that negotiating with one u. S. Administration means anything if the next one will change. And then, that is amplified, of course, by president formerPresident Trumps hold on the republican party. Certainly, its not a majority of americans. But its a very big majority of the republican republican base. January 6th was telling. It was shocking to to americans. But it was really shocking to our allies in the western democracies, as well. And its being used, as you know, by Vladimir Putin as a club or a wedge against any arguments that we make. That President Biden is planning to make about americandemocratic principles. Because he is going to talk about, you know, January 6th, about George Floyd, about black Lives Matter. You know, about a host of other things that he sees as americas hypocrisy, on those values. So, this is going to be very difficult, as long as President Trump still looms so large in the republican party. The margin in the house is so narrow. Just a handful of seats. That could, all, change the biden agenda, dramatically. In the midterms, if he loses the house. And then, the senate is, also, you know, just a 5050 senate. So, that stalemate in congress is a constant reminder that the Biden Legacy could be very short lived. Yeah, and and i think, mark, you know, as problematic as that might be. Its not the only problem. You have a great piece in the New York Times where you write the transatlantic partnership has always been less reciprocal than its champions like to pretend. Now, with china replacing the Soviet Union as americas arch rival, the two signs are less united than they were during the Cold War. A geopolitical shift that lays bare longstanding stresses between them. Talk a little bit more about that. And how it relates to whats happening on the ground at the g7. Well, i think, the the point here is that the transatlantic relationship has always been i dont want to call it a oneway street. Thats overstating it. But the u. S. Has always been the dominant partner. And for a long time, and particularly after The End of the Cold War, there has been frustration on the european side. That for all the talk about alliances, for all the talk about Burden Sharing and reciprocity. The u. S. Kind of Formulates The Policy and and goes its own way. And, you know, that waxes and wanes over time. But we are in a moment, right now, with china assuming such a central role in the bidenforeign policy. Where were beginning to see a little bit of those stresses break open, a little bit. And its not uniform, across europe. The germans, for example, feel i think quite differently about their relationship with china than, say, the brits. The brits in the last year, have swung in very closely behind the united states. In part, because they dont want to be isolated in the postbrexit period. And they have become much tougher on china. So the the distance between the uk and the united states is not that great. But germany, remember, sells millions of volkswagons and bmws to china. So, for them, the commercial aspect of the relationship is paramount and they really dont want to go back into some sort of a Cold War with the chinese. So, i think, what Joe Biden will have to do, today, at the g at the g7 is kind of navigate, not only a europe that feels fundamentally a bit differently about china than, perhaps, the united states. But individualeuropean countries that have their own interests. That are not all perfectly aligned with one another. So It Will be an interesting, and somewhat complicated day, of diplomacy for the president. And, anne, one of the things that Jillian Tett was on just a few minutes ago were the Elbow Bumps. In your latest reporting, you write this quote, if not for the Elbow Bumps instead of handshakes and hugs, the scene at the opening of the group of seven economic meeting here could have been mistaken for a time before the global pandemic, and before Donald Trump. It was less clear, whether the worlds wealthy democracies can return to normal, in more substantive ways with the sort of cooperation that was, once, routine. But unraveled in the trump era. Substantively, for you, what does it look like to turn the page . What will you be looking for when this g7 wraps up, anne . Well, certainly, well be looking to see whats in the final communique. That sort of diplomatic speak for the the agreement that they all make. Some of that is before they even Sit Down but if you recall, Donald Trump refused to sign those one year. And didnt even try to do one, another time. So, the fact that they are going to do one that will be a Group Agreement, among the seven. With input, also, from the european union, which is represented here. That will be significant. And then, really, from the u. S. Perspective, this three days will be a success if they can get any kind of Group Agreement to say something a little tougher than usual about china, point one. And point two, just to have it and to, all, be together. To to be seen walking around, without masks. Its its a symbolic period, on The End of the Pandemic Sentence that, i think, the united states certainly is very eager to help project. And, you know, for all of the logistical challenges and and pandemic restrictions here, in in the uk. They are really trying to do that. Anne gearan, Andrea Mitchell, mark landler, thanks to All Of You. And andrea is going to continue her Special Coverage of President Bidens first foreign trip in europe. Watch the Special Coverage on Andrea Mitchell reports next week at Noon Eastern on msnbc. Balancing act. This, according to Seniorwhite House officials. Biden will, also, encourage his g7 partners to take a clear stand on forced labor. Calling these practices an affront to human dignity. Joining me now, ambassador chris hill. Former ambassador to iraq, south korea, poland, and macedonia. And currently, with Columbia School of international public affairs. Good to see you, again, ambassador. There was a call with reporters that biden administration officials had. They stressed that todays focus isnt just on confronting, or or taking on china. But as they put it, providing an affirmative, positive, Alternative Vision for the world. What do you see, as that Alternative Vision . And is it realistic . Well, first of all, this is a very familiar pattern. Where the u. S. Tries to engage the partners. And and the allies in a much, kind of, tougher, clearer tone toward countries that are, frankly, not behaving well in the world order. And so, the europeans are are a little concerned that, you know, is the u. S. Going too far . Is it is it kind of driving china and and russia, together, into some club of their own . So, i think, this is an opportunity for the europeans to see some reassurance that we know precisely what we are doing. We are dealing with a longerterm problem. We are not looking to create a shortterm crisis. And i think the longerterm problem, as President Biden has articulated on several occasions, is can the democracies of the World Kind of prove that their model is more successful . And means a lot more than the model of a kind of declining russia and a rising but authoritarian china. And i think he can get people to buy into that. And i think one of the things that has really made a big difference, not just the issue of the treatment of the uyghurs or the future of hong kong. But over on the russia side, this hacking of, and frankly, this ransomware used against u. S. Businesses. And, i know, today, it might be a u. S. Business. Tomorrow, it might be a european. So, i think, Biden Has a lot to work with. And frankly, all the good will that hes established just in the last couple of days. Its it it helps, in diplomacy. I mean, it helps when people kind of like you. And want to work with you. And then, you can kind of get your point across. So, i think, so far, so good. And i think our president , by the way, this is not his first rodeo. Hes done this kind of stuff before. And hes probably the country our countrys senior diplomat so right guy, at the right time. So then, there is going to bt nato summit. Next on the President S agenda. And this will be the first time nato countries are going to be addressing security challenges posed by china. And they are doing it directly in a communique. Do you see it as significant that they are doing that . I do. Theres always been this issue of how far does it go . And i think, in recent years, its definitely become more global. So i think there will be a willingness, in nato partners, to to kind of address this this issue with with china. Theres been work by nato in in the pacific. They have worked with, for example, south korea. We might see some more of that in the future. So i think the time is right to do that. The issue with dealing with americans is there is this kind of view that, you know, if its worth doing, its worth overdoing. And i think we need to be careful, because as some of your commentators earlier pointed out. Its going to be a longer road for the u. S. To regain credibility. Not so much, for the biden administration. But i think a lot of people say, well, this is fine but whats coming next . So, i think, like a lot of foreignpolicy issues, the question will be can we get our house in order . And including in the idea of getting people around the same the same approach . And we also have been talking a lot about the next, big thing after nato. Which, of course, is Joe Biden confronting another adversary, on wednesday, when he meets with russian president Vladimir Putin. And i want to play a little bit of what putin said to Nbcs Keir simmons in his exclusive interview. Take a listen. Translator i believe that formeru. S. President , mr. Trump, is an extraordinary individual, talented individual. Otherwise, he would not have become u. S. President. He is a colorful individual. You may like him or not. And but he didnt come from u. S. Establishment. President biden, of course, is radically different from trump because President Biden is a career man. He has spent virtually his entire adulthood in politics. Just think of the number of years he spent in the senate. A different kind of person. It is my great hope that, yes, there are some advantages, some disadvantages. But there will not be any impulsebased movements on behalf of the sittingu. S. President. What do you make of those comments from Vladimir Putin . And what are you looking for as those two Sit Down, Face To face . Funny, ive heard worse analysis in my day. He kind of lays it out. I i have a problem with the notion that biden is some kind of workaday politician. I think Biden Biden is a visionary, and understands where he wants to take this all. I think, what i am really looking forward to is a much more, sort of, normal context. Were not going to have all that weirdness. Where the u. S. President sits down with putin, and No One knows what happened. There are no notes, no people in the room. So i think all that stuff is is gone. And i think Biden Has, correctly, you know, kind of laid out the idea. Look, i am going to try to put forward an agenda. What i think he needs to know about what we know. And so, i think, you know, i think its something where where putin is going to have to respect this guy, because this guy really knows what he is talking about and knows where hes coming from. Again, the issue will be, you could see putin say saying all these kind of nice things about trump. And, you know, could he be suggesting, gee, trump could be back, at some point . And i think the issue is precisely that. I think Andrea Mitchell laid that out, earlier. The idea that the u. S. Needs to show the world that were united around this new president. And were moving forward, and certainly not going to move backwards. Ambassador chris hill, its always a pleasure to have you on the program. Thank you so much. It matters who you travel with on sunday, President Biden and the First Lady will have tea with the queen at Windsor Castle. Last night the bidens spoke with Queen Elizabeth at a reception for G7 Leaders, following the first session of that global summit. President biden is the 13th u. S. President to meet the queen, although as a senator he also met her back in 1982. Joining me now, nbc news royal commentator. Daisy, before we get to the specifics of the queen and being with the president and First Lady, give us a little bit of a history lesson, because its got to be a pretty unique club, somebody who has hung out with 13 american President S. Exactly. Can you imagine, a, being old enough to have met 13 President S . I think it was back in 1951 when she was a princess before she was the queen that she met her first president. Shes met 13 out of the 14 that there have been. Its just Linden Johnson who she never met, and that meeting she was deputyized by her sister, Princess Margaret, who did meet Linden Johnson and that was dramatized in The Crown and it was alleged that Princess Margaret got into some sort of Drinking Contest and was reciting rude limericks with the president and i dont think that will be going on tomorrow at Windsor Castle between the queen and President Biden. What will be going on . Tell us a little bit about what we should expect. Theyre going to have Tea At about 5 00 uk time. We know from when George Bush had Tea At Windsor Castle, theyll probably get small sandwiches. A lot of attention will be paid to the broach that the queen will be wearing. Theres something called Power Broach that we always look at. The queen nearly always sends a message with what broach she chooses to wear. And certainly when she had tea with Donald Trump just a couple of years ago, she wore the first time she met him on that visit, the queen wore a broach that had been given to her in a personal capacity by president obama. Now, i think we can all see what the message there was and i dont think it was particularly diplomatic or polite to Donald Trump. And actually looking yesterday at what the queen was wearing to the g7 reception, she was actually wearing whats called the botswana flower broach. At the time we thought that doesnt have a particularly strong message to the leaders, but having slept on it overnight, i think that was a message to Harry And Meaghan. We know that Harry And Meaghan are passionate about botswana. Its where they fell in love with each other. The Engagement Ring had a diamond from botswana and that broach has been rumored to be in mind for the queen to give it to harrys first daughter, who was just born. I dont think that was a coincidence that she chose to wear that Broach Yesterday and i think we didnt pick up on it yesterday because we were all obsessing about is it a message for Joe Biden. Im pretty sure it was for Harry And Meaghan and full of affection. Yesterday We Saw the First Lady and kate, who were at a childrens center, and Today Theyve actually put out sort of a joint editorial talking about the importance of childrens education, something i think not a lot of people expected to see about their vision for the future, their joint commitment to this. How significant do you see this as . We know that this is something that the duchess of cambridge, kate, is passionate about. She has been working hard behind the scenes of early years, particularly for disadvantaged children and the difference you can make for those kids. Shes been working on this for nine or ten years and i think shes found a real Fellow Traveller on this journey, a real Soul Mate as far as this issue is concerned in dr. Biden, Jill Biden. And i think this is the start of something that these two women are very serious about. I hate to bang on about Harry And Meaghan, but we know also that Joe Biden is a close friend of harrys. We know that kate is desperate to get those bridges rebuilt. I just wonder whether this new pact, this friendship between Jill Biden and kate might make a difference to that family rift.
