Look, i think that hr1 is very, very clear, it is been sent to the senate, senate has now presented it as s1 and i have met with various senators including Senator Manchin and i said time and time again that hr4 is a and since there are 47 states that have now proposed legislation that could suppress the vote, we need to pass hr1 with the preclearance that is in hr4, apply for the states and move forward to an Up Or Down Vote. I read Senator Manchins oped this morning and i think that Senator Manchin is misrepresenting to the public what is going on here. He is not voting against hr1 when he proposed to continue this filibuster. The filibuster is to prevent the head of the senate, to prevent him from limiting the debate and setting a date for an if up or down. So Senator Manchin could vote any way you wanted to vote on Hr1 Or S1 but should not be allowing 60 votes to be required so that we could go to a final vote. Senator manchin said in his Oped Piece this morning that some poor folks who are smarter than he is said certain things. Well the fact of the matter is i dont know that im smarter than Senator Manchin but im smart enough to know the difference between an Up Or Down Vote and a filibuster. And what he is doing is continuing to filibuster the vote and the debate rather than allow schumer to limit debate and set a date and that is what were trying to do. Please, mr. This whole Cat And Mouse game between employees and employers is resulting in slightly higher wages. But on the other hand we have small businesses having trouble hiring people. Some people say if you just paid them more wages you would hire them. But other says say it is because of the supplementalary Unemployment Insurance theyre getting. What is your take. This is one of the biggest economic conundrums for years now. Weve seen a booming economy but wages at the lower end of the scale has been stubborn and as we have discussed before, average american families are not earning any more than they did 30 or 40 years ago and prices of everything have gone up. So this is been a big issue. And what intrigues me is listening to this debate about whether enhanced federal benefits like the Unemployment Insurance benefit is harming Employers Ability to hire and the force to wages that people could make money by not working and it is interesting that people are seeking that as a criticism. I think that the biden administration has made it very clear they want wages to go up. And it seems to me that theyve created a situation where they are going up. And it is going to take a little while for this sort of new paradigm to settle in and there is going to be a bit of a trans is but this this is a goal that the administration said they have and it is actually happening so im kind of intrigued, i think this is a bit of a intentional trick and we have wages increasing which is a good thing. And zachary, im going to put that screen up again of some of the companies that are raising Minimum Wages, bank of america, chipotle, mcdonalds under Armour And Target and walmart. The federal Minimum Wage is 7. 25. Biden wants to increase is to 15 dallas and put it into the Relieve Act and that didnt fly but tom Cotton And Mitt romney proposed 10 an hour which means we could end up with a negotiated federal Minimum Wage above 10 an if hour. Republicans tell me that sounds like socialism but other country in the world or most other countries have a higher Minimum Wage than we do. And of course if it were socialism now, it is socialism then given that we do have a federal Minimum Wage and have one for at some point in the mid 20th century. So it is not like were suddenly becoming socialist, under that Argument Weve been socialists for decades. And also like a lot of companies, i think we get too obsessed with the federal Minimum Wage because that is a floor and a signaller for many things. Companies pay significantly more than that and would have to in the northeast and in california and the northwest. The Minimum Wage either for those states or a lot of companies is higher with the cost of living in those areas is higher as well. I want to get one more point on this Wage Issue which is the pandemic also had a disproportionate effect on women which as a shift from the mid 2000s where most of the job losses were in male manufacturing Heavy Industry and the Service Sector was etc. The profoundly impacted by covid. Either way this is the biggest thing but it is not a huge consequential thing of the way it is portrayed of spending that we did during the Pandemic Support individual Human Beings in an actual finite time frame. I think the fact that republicans have said that, that theyll not consider appropriate Tax Increase to pay for infrastructure gives us a really important hint into their mindset and it is heartening because infrastructure has long been the one thing that everyone likes and could agree on. The fact that we have seen even Business Leaders say since 2017, the tax cut, Business Leaders have said, we may be over shot a little bit. We didnt need to go from down to 21 . Maybe 25 would have been okay. Many people in the Business Community are open to a Tax Increase, the fact that republicans are saying that suggest that they are not deep down interested in making this work unfortunately. Zachary, you and i have been through a few recessions, this one is going to end the same way a whole bunch of people do coming out richer and a bunch of people with circumstances coming out a lot worse. It is a different Wealth Gap. It is the Wealth Gap of people who could have worked the way we tend to work that could do this.
