Out against mr. Trumps lies about the election. We have to fight fort truth, and weve got build our party back on a foundation that embraces the constitution, embraces fidelity to the constitution, and that, you know, we have to be very clear to say a president who did what Donald Trump did has no role to play in the future of the nation. He simply cant. Its too dangerous. Plenty to talk about tonight with our Round Table, so lets get straight to it, michael steele, the former Rnc Chairman and the host of the Michael Steel Podcast and a msnbc analyst. And eugene daniels, a white House Correspondent for politico, coauthor of politicos Play Book and an msnbc political contributor. Good to see everybody. Michael, let me start with you. One of the big Topics Today is the impact that Donald Trump may or may not have on the midterms and on the 2024 election. Setting aside for a moment the possibility that he may or may not run for president again, his impact on more immediate elections. What do you make of that, particularly in light of the role hes playing at this event in North Carolina tonight. Well, its impact will be as big as the party wants it to be and right now, they want it to be pretty damn big. The fact that he is at this event in North Carolina, it is a state party event, the fact that he has made it very clear, through a number of his political allies, that hes going to be a player, if you will, in the upcoming midterm elections. He is sort of the clip you played coming into this segment, sort of thats his baseline, yeah, we got to get the party in a position to win back the majority. But No One is answering the question what happens after that. And No One is asking the question what role do you want to play, other than dictating the terms. So theres still a lot more that were going to learn over the next few weeks, as he, you know, begins this effort to get back engaged publicly at rallies and eventing like this. But the party wants him right now. At least the Party Leadership wants him. And a segment of the base wants him. Does that turn out to be electoral success this fall and next year . That is up ultimately to voters but right now Donald Trump is coming to play and i think people need to be prepared for that. Stella, another aspect of this is just his role culturally, i mean this week, we saw facebook clarify its suspension that hes going to be suspended for two years from the date of his suspension, so january 7th, 2023 is when it will end. He shut down his blog because it wasnt getting many views. His cultural impact will be real different in the last few years than it had been while and before he was president. Heres the thing that we tend to forget. For me personally when i see him in events like the one in North Carolina, i start thinking, part of it might be because he knows that he gets attention for attending these events because right now he is banned on social media platforms, the guy would find a way to bring back his my space profile. Lets face. It the guy is starving for attention. The one thing he has done is become a mascot for a certain way of thinking. But let me tell you, the one thing we have to remember is that when you are a mascot, what happens is the face that comes, the face of an agenda, you are not the voice of it, i mean think about any nfl mascot, when you see the mascot, you know what city theyre representing but youre not thinking whoa, i wonder what that falcon thinks about things. It doesnt happen. So for me, i think, look, the fact that facebook saying oh, well you know what we meant was in two years, well ellipsis, Dot Dot dot, two years from now, who needs that, you know, i cant tell you, i dont know about your life but i havent heard any of my close friends or loved ones, you know that thing i read on facebook recently, you know, so anything to bring attention to them is going to happen. Look, were talking about it right now. I dont even remember my facebook password. You know what i mean . So thats, were talking about it but really culturally let me say, especially in my family, if you do something to wrong me, you know that saying, forgive and forget. We forget to forgive. And thats i hear that. Speaking of which, what is my facebook anyway. You just made me think about it. I think you made all of our Breath Stop like, i dont know, if you put a gun to my head i dont know if i could do it. I forgot it. Completely forgot. Let me ask you about one clip, and weve been going through the Donald Trump speech very care fly because we are not going to put anything on television that is demonstrably false. Were just not going to put that out there so weve been scrubbing through this piece to find something worth talking about and i think this clip might be worth getting your reaction to, because Lara Trump is at the speech also and she said this about a run for a Senate Seat in North Carolina. Watch. No for now, not no forever. No for now, not no forever. What does that mean . Thats a good question. I think right now, at this point, we have been trying to figure out who of the trump kids, whether theyre married to a trump or they are one of Donald Trumps children, what are they going to do with that, how good is that name, in different states, and so if youre not going to run, that name is not as good as they thought, right, she had been dangling whether or not she was going to run for the Senate Seat, thats not the case, so i think what Lara Trump and all of the trumps are kind of trying to figure out is okay, Donald Trump is going to be active in these midterms, we know that, hes going to go out and find people to primary incumbent, if those incumbents win, that means his name was really good, if they flip the house with those incumbents that have the america first agenda, then thats good to go and then they have a political future. Right now, despite the fact that he does, he is the leader of the republican party, they are kind of gauging the things that he is going to want them to do or like them to do so theyre making decisions based off of that. But theyre still not sure whether or not all of the voters that they need to take back the house in 2022 are going to think that hes worth the salt that he used to be. So thats where the republican party is, because theyre not exactly sure. They have chosen to follow him, right . Theyve chosen that they are going to go fullfledged with Donald Trump. But what they dont know is how thats going to play out in the 2022 midterms, and we talked to Tom Enmer for a event a few months ago and heads up the House Campaign for House Republicans and says it is not very helpful for Donald Trump to do the primary and mucking things up but thats exactly what were going to see so what were probably going to see in some of these district, America First Person winning the primary and possibly learning in the general, and that puts this House Majority that the republicans will probably, you know, based on history, will get, in that way. We will keep monitoring the speech, as we showed you, Donald Trump is speaking in greenville, North Carolina. If there is anything further from the speech worth passing on, we will bring it to you. But lets shift gears and talk now about the president in the White House now, joe biden, and his agenda. He has deputized Vice President Kamala Harris to deal with the concerns over viting Rights Legislation Voting Righting Legislation And Voting restrictions across the country. Thats on top of the work she is already going to do with regards to the situation on the southern border. All of this reminded one of our producers of a sketch that was on snl back in march. Im not sure if you heard but im putting you in charge of some little Immigration Problem down at the mexican border. Yes,i did hear that. Wow. Thank you for the opportunity. Such a fun solvable problem. Michael steele, what do you make of Kamala Harris being given all of these fun solvable problems, in a way thats what Vice President s are often deputized to do, but these are pretty big. No, this is everything that is kind of hanging out the window, its like okay, kamala, she can do that, she can do that, too. And look, here, i get it, i understand it, but there is some danger to this for the Vice President , and i think we need to be sensitive, people around her need to be sensitive and concerned. Shes been handed big issues, not that she cant handle them, yes, as that sketch said, immigration is not something that is solved overnight. If it is not solved between now and 2022 or now and 2024, that will land on her plate and if so, how does it land on her plate and now shes got to bring everybody to reconciliation on voting, and if that doesnt turn out right, they lose the house because of how the vote plays out in 2022. Does that land on her plate . And how does that land on her plate . So i think theres a lot here, its important stuff, but i think it is so diverse and so widespread, success is going to be hard for her to kind of pull together, because everybody has their own agenda, and none of It Overlaps in a way in which she can put One Dot Together With Another and have something positive happen. Speaking of that agenda, krisstella, one of the things i wanted to ask you about because youre a texan, the efforts in the democratic statehouse to stop a Voting Restriction Bill by going forward and basically walking out of the State House in austin and preventing a quorum and that kind of cut it short. Were still waiting to find out what Governor Greg Abbott may do in retaliation for that, but what do you make of that, that democrats basically had to walk out and ground the entire process to a halt to prevent this bill from going forward . I think that you do whatever you got to do to actually do the right thing. So, you know, for me, i think that i was awake, you know, keeping track of it, when it was happening, because it was like watching a movie. Is it going to happen . Whats going to happen . Ill tell you, to me, the whole thing about Voting Rights, especially in texas, it is so frustrating because were talking about Voting Rights and kamalas work on the border. I was born in san juan, outside of mcallen, i grew up in mcallen, and both issues are very important to me and ill tell you with Voting Rights one thing that i dont think we talk about enough is that we have been denying people the right to vote for years. Were just putting it in legal mumbo jumbo, in legal terms, so that people can point to a book and say, we really are right here. But really, i mean theres so many ways to stop people from voting. I saw on twitter earlier this week, someone said, well we wanted to stop voting on sundays so the people could Go To Church. Let me tell you, as a devout catholic, my day is not like man, what do we do . Do we Go To Church . Or do we go vote . Please, state of texas, help us. You got to make your Day Up at the beginning. Look, everybody, we have enough gas for one trip. Are we going to Go To Church or are we going to go vote . Its insane. Think about it. We already, No One stopped people from voting, the disabled community, when we do have, you know, public transportation that allows them to go, you know, or certain locations to vote. People in my border town, in mcallen, people dont have the internet to get the information to know when and where to vote. You know, so were already stopping people from voting. Let me tell you one thing. During elections im very active in the Get Out The Vote effort. Gotvs and let me tell you one thing, no group i ever worked with, man, we need to get busy, so many people are voting, what do we do now . Its so easy to vote, everybodys voting, like is there another issue we can tackle . Because were done with this one. Were all done with this one. Everybody is votesing that you Go To Church now. Exactly. [ laughter ] the line is too long. We will sit in a Back Pew until the line go down. We have to pause in a second. But i want to get your reaction with regard to voting and a number of other issues and that gets to what is happening in Gless Congress and my colleague talked to Joe Man chin of West Virginia and any number of pieces of legislation on the democratic agenda can be built in a bipartisan way or whether they need to find some other kind of end run. Here is what Senator Manchin told garrett this week. Watch. Are you ready to go it alone, just democrats . I dont think you should. I really dont. At all . At any time . I dont think, right now, basically we need to be bipartisan, if we cant, ive always said this, i never have seen a pothole with a democrat or republican name on it. Whats your sense of Senator Manchins stand now particularly with kind of the growing pressure to get action on so many pieces of joe bidens agenda . Yai yeah, i mean the problem how Joe Manchin is speaking about bipartisan, it is not that it isnt good, and you want compromise in government and thats how it is supposed to work but the issue is that Mitch Mcconnell has said that 100 of his energy is going into stopping this administration, right . So already, youre ending up with a republican party that has said, we aint here to negotiate. Were not here to make deals, right . And so now theyre constantly going through the motions and doing that, and it looks like democrats are going to have to go on their own anyway. I talked to a lot of people in the White House on this, and something that he reminded me and made me laugh a little bit, you guys in the media just forgot what it looks like when people negotiate and go back and forth, and so it is true, it is a while since we had a White House and a Congress Debate and try to find some bipartisanship there. And so that is what one of the issues, theyre getting all of this pressure from democrats all over the place, to get Joe Manchin to stop talking and move on. I will have an image and Cross Roads with the tank on e, and the church is that way and the poll is that way and hes like we will set that aside. We have to pause. Everyone, stick around. We have more to discuss in just a minute. And also still to come, Nba Hall of Famer Chris Bosch and his new book Letters To A Young Athlete has some great advice, a fantastic read. We will ask him how he handled the pressure of pro sports. But up next, facing the reality of racism in american history. That is where well pick up with our panel in just a moment. Hollywood is hoping for another big summer of blockbusters. Box office numbers released today were a good sign. The Horror Film the conjuring, the defrl made me do it Beat Expectations by bringing in 10 Million yesterday, impressive considering the film is available at the Hbo Max App at no extra cost. Last weeks memorial Day Holiday numbers was even more impressive a quiet Place Part two made about 57 Million over the fourday weekend. And disneys cruella made nearly 27 Million in theaters and that films also available to purchase on the Disney Plus app. Still a Long Way To Go into getting our Entertainment Venues back to normal. Las vegas has reopened though some smaller venues there have closed. Broadway theaters will not be welcoming audiences until the fall at least. But hollywoods good news gives us some hope that a postcovid normal might not be quite as devastating as the experts initially thought. The Round Table is back with us, and cristela, let me start with you, and how it is going, particularly folks who work in entertainment, are you optimistic, pessimistic or still kind of holding your breath . As a standup comic, my first Standup Date for the end of next week and last night i went to see a screening of in the height. How was it . Tell me, i want to know. I mean it was great. If you could actually, the music, the dancing, theres certain stories that do well in theaters, and im a big Horror Movie fan, so i think that Horror Movie does well in theaters, so its one of those things, if can go to theaters, and certain stories, you got to see it in theaters. Its one of them. Its great, vibrant and the first movie ive seen in well over a year at a theater and theres really nice and comforting about having that camaraderie with people who were socially distanced and we have to wear masks while we were walking around, but it was really nice to just be in front of that screen, and realize that little things like that are something that really marks a normalcy, you know, going back to a new normal, it will never be what it was, but it can be better, you know, so now that were aware, it is just, once weve taught people to wash their hands, things can get better. Its amazing what happens when you just learn, 20 seconds. Just sing happy birthday twice. 20 seconds. Thats all It Takes. Eugene, what about you. How are you feeling in terms of going back to the multiplex. I hear cristela about musicals and i cannot wait for in the heights,s are respect, aretha franklin, i cannot wait for that movie to come out but in terms of people being ready, feeling comfortable, and trusting people sitting to the left and right have washed their hands, whats your sense of it eugene . I think when you talk to people, im not about to watch a Horror Movie around a bunch of people i get too scared but I Will Go See A Musical though. And i think about this myself, when will i feel comfortable enough to sit in a theater with folks and youre not sure what they did. And the Cdc Kind of told everyone what they can do, if youre vaccinated youre probably going to be fine, and if you trust the science at the beginning, when they told us to stay in these apartments and do live shots from here and keep our mouths going, and Hand Sanitizer and wash your hands and were cloroxing our vegetables, and came back, and when you what did you do to your vegetables . Hold on. Wait. I was going to say, no, wait, what . What were you doing . Not your vegetables. Im not that good of a cook. I got to put them in the skillet. But people, i think people are excited for a new normal. I was out today, and you walk into a store, or to a bar, and people are, theres no masks, people are, you know, kind of getting back into the swing of things and i think people are feeling good about that. And the numbers are down, and this country, that feels good and i think that brings people a lot of hope, right . Theres the last year and a half, it has really sucked for many reasons, largely so many hundreds of thousands of people who live in this country have died, and so now you have light at the end of the tunnel, you know, the administration kept saying that, and now theyre seeing it, theres that corner they kept talking about that we were going to turn and now the blinker is on and i think people are starting to feel confident that they can go back and see a movie next to each other, they can go into stores, they can see friends they havent seen in a long time. And thats good for the morale in the country. I want to make sure that we make time, michael, to talk about another story this week, which is of course the anniversary of the Tulsa Race Massacre in 1921, president biden spoke in tulsa on tuesday. This week, Tom Hanks was out with an oped in the New York times, where he encourages people to learn more about the Tulsa Race Massacre and The Truths of black history in this country. Basically kind of an admonition for white people to learn black history, and to unlearn some of the geography that has sort of Wall Papered over the tougher parts of our history. I tend to feel optimistic about that because Todays Generation is so much more connected to information and so much more willing to search for information themselves, especially when you tell them theyre not allowed to learn something like critical race theory, theyll be like, okay, what is it, why is it so bad, and im kind of optimistic that will happen but what about you . Thats why i love you, joshua. I mean One Of Us has to be. So let me put it this way. I appreciate Tom Hanks saying what he said, and i agree with him, white folks need to learn black history but they need to stop trying to rewrite it first. And so when you stop trying to rewrite that history, whether its 1619, 1968, or four weeks ago, or a year ago, with george floyds death, then we begin to turn those corners, i think. So i appreciate tom putting that out there, and i agree with him, and i support that, but the reality underneath all of that is theres a larger segment of the white population that aint interested in learning, thats not interested in making that History Parallel and a part of the american story. Which we all know it is. But there is still resistance to that, and how do we know that . Well, you just look at how the reaction is to when we talk about our history, when we say, this is what happened in tulsa, and this is what happened over here, and this is what, you know, occurred to these, within these communities, and theres resistance to that. So good step, baby step, important step, but we need to be honest about a lot of the other work that has to go into that, to turning a that corner, because you got to want to change in order to change, you got to want to learn in order to learn and if you aint willing to change and learn, we aint going to be doing much in this space. Briefly, cristelaer, were almost out of time, but i feel will is some hope in the Way Hollywood and artists are talking about history, a lot of people learned about the Tulsa Race Massacre by Watching Watchman on Hbo And Isnt that an interesting creative flourish and they went to the web and no, no, no that really happened and maybe artists like you might play a big role in at least introducing people to some of that history. Absolutely. I was one of those people who didnt know about it until watchman. And im 42, you know, it is that thing where i have gone to school, i have learned, i have lived a life, i have a career, and i realized only as an adult have i realized how many events i have no clue about, and its because we are taught a certain narrative, i was taught a certain narrative about the history, and i got to say that for me, what i find interesting is that once you actually give the freedom of people to tell their stories and not question their stories, and allow them to tell their perspective, no matter what it is, then we can see the change, because we realize that once you see it, it doesnt mean that your history is tainted, or that, you know, you are somehow now tainted by this negativity, its almost this idea of, you know, i talk about it with like what you were talking about with Tom Hanks, you know, for me, i grew up a catholic, and i went to church, and we read the bible, and guess what, theres a lot of parts of the bible that are not very nice, and they teach us that because the point is to, you know, right or wrong, good or bad, so why zoo we so why dont we do that, so many people are concerned about good and bad and why dont they teach history so we learn what is good and bad and those who dont know history are doomed to repeat it. I think there is little steps and more work to be done but i think what we need to do is celebrate progress. We dont celebrate the progress. So in order to celebrate progress, you make more change, because it continues. Michael steele, cristela alonzo, eugene ganles, i think what we learned tonight is black history is everybody learning, you can go to polls and church on one tank of gas and dont clorox your vegetables. I think those are the main takeaways tonight. Thanks for being with us. Thanks. There has been a lot said this week about Tennis Pro Naomi Osaka quitting the open for Mental Health reasons, i can empathize her but i think her status might be keep for helping her deal with these very challenges. Ill explain when we come back. Challenges ill explain when we come back seeing blood when you brush or floss can be a sign of early gum damage. Veggies taste amazing with knorr. I said i would learn more about you how you handle diversity than how you handle victory but what about how you handle both at once, ive been thinking about that lately after Tennis Pro Naomi Osaka dropped out of the French Open, the very sport that is eliciting her current struggles might also help her overcome them. Players at the French Open are required to do Press Conferences. Last week, ms. Osaka announced she would not participate in them. Nothing personal, she said, but the practice of grilling a player who just lost a match seems in her words like kicking a person while theyre down. Skipping those Media Appearances draws a fine. In this case, 15,000. Officials had threatened to kick her out of the French Open and suspend her from other tournaments. The next day, Naomi Osaka withdrew. She says she wants to work with officials to make the tournament better for everyone involved but dealing with the press gives her quote huge waves of anxiety, reactions have been very positive and the tournament is promising to address her concerns. Mental health challenges should be taken seriously. I can relate. A few years ago, while i was still working in washington, i finally got help for anxiety and depression. Anxiety is still a huge challenge for me but i have a different perspective on it now. I sometimes think of the Kobayashi Marue from star trek, a simulation you have to pass if you want to become a captain. The task is to rescue a defenseless ship in hostile territory but the problem is the simulation has no solution, it is a nowin situation, you still have to perform like a captain but the ship cannot be saved and your crew gets killed no matter what you do. I know that my anxiety comes largely from a fear of disappointing others. Dont let Tv Fool you. Even now, my life sometimes feels like the kobe orby marue, on an endless loop. Sometimes i suspect that naomis Osakas Dilemma might feel like a no win situation. Consider this line from her post about leaving the French Open, quote, The Truth is that i have suffered long bouts of depression since the u. S. Open in 2018 and i have had a really hard time coping with that. Unquote. Did you catch that . Since the u. S. Open. Which she won. It was an emotional win on lots of levels. She beat Serena Williams for the title and ms. Williams was furious over questionable calls from the umpire, fans were furious, too, leading some of them to boo after the match. Ms. Osaka talked about the emotional toll of this on today. Well, i dont know, it just felt like everyone was sort of unhappy up there, and i know that it wasnt really like the ending wasnt how people wanted it to be, i know that in my dreams, i won like in a very tough competitive match, so i dont know, i just felt very emotional, and i felt like i had to apologize. If Youren Introvert who Empt Sells at something that is highly public, no wonder that caused her problems. But i love to know how shes taking Care Of herself now. If she plans to remain a pro tennis player, how will she deal with the challenges to come . The answer might lie in the sport itself. Or put another way. In the potential of sports to reshape our lives for the better. That is the focus of a new book by Nba Star chris bosch, last month he was voted into the hall of fame, after a career that included two championships and an olympic gold medal. His book Letters To A Young Athlete includes anecdotes from his days on the miami heat, including his time playing alongside lebron james. And what can you do if you want to be like lebron . Stretch. According to mr. Bossh, king james bowed down on a regular basis and back up and side to side for 30 minutes at a time. Morning, nighttime, before workouts, after workouts, even in the middle of a card game. Stretching was key. Now that may seem like a bit much to you, but how many Nba Championship rings have you won . Okay then. Naomi Osakas Situation has drawn sympathy because of how hard it is to be a champion athlete. But theres a lot about proathletics that is within our reach, especially simple things like pro active Self Care. Not just when were in pain or in crisis, but all the time. Granted, this is way easier for some people than others, if youve got kids to take Care Of, or a 70hour workweek, Self Care can go right out the window. But should it . Isnt it easier to give others the best of yourself if you give it to yourself first . And sometimes at least for me, Self Care means putting what im going through in a different perspective. Now im not talking about that at least things are as well as they are and they could be worse perspective. Whenever says that to me, i just want to give them a World Class wedgy. It one of the least helpful things you can say. If your vooigs ever begins with the words at least revise it. Or enjoy your wedgy. No, the perspective im talking about is embodies in the Kobayashi Marue, see the the simulation is actually a test of character and the trick is, cadets do not have to complete the mission to pass the test. They only have to perform with excellence in the face of disaster. Sometimes withdrawing from a bad situation is a good call. But sometimes the right answer is to stand up and lean in rather than drop out. That will get me something even better than perfection. Growth. Perfection is limiting. Growth is limitless. I believe that Naomi Osaka will develop nor resilience and resources to face her Mental Health challenges, she just has to keep going, or as my grandmother would say, just keep on having birthdays, that is why yesterday i put this over my desk at home. Its a picture of the Kobayashi Mru with the immortal words of the emergency alert system, this is only a test. And dont judge me for putting Scotch Tape on my post it for peeling my paint, give me a moment. Ship it to 30 rock. The mind is a powerful thing especially when it works against you, but it can work for you, too, everyones needs are different and it is good to talk to a professional about your specific situation. Just dont be surprised if you get some of your most useful advice from yourself and your personal experiences. You are both the athlete and at times your own biggest critic. But there is no reason you cant also become your own biggest fan. With that said, wed love to hear from you. How have you improved your mental selfcare . Email us, the week msnbc. Tennis pro Naomi Osakas withdrawal from the french hope has put renewed attention on public especially especially in The Public Eye and many people working to manage Anxiety And Adversity can relete. Chris bosh knows all about competing at the highest level, his new book letters to young eights requests its focus is for young athletes but advice for anyone looking to raise their game whatever arena theyre in. Chris bosh joins us now. Welcome to the program. Glad to have you. Man, im glad to be here. Thank you so much. Were getting it in on the weekend, man. Lets keep it going. For real. For real. I read the book. Hence the postit notes. This is a really good book and it is written in a very straightforward, i mean anybody could understand where youre coming from with this book including your comments about Mental Health. I wonder what your sense is, starting with Naomi Osaka in terms of how pro sports are doing in terms of dealing with the Mental Health of players. Have we made any progress since the days you were in the nba or do you still think weve got a Long Way To Go. Well, weve made progress, and theres still a Long Way To Go. I mean before, it was taboo to talk about these things. It was taboo to talk about Self Care, and thats even physical Self Care, because youre pounding your knees and your ankles and your joints out there trying to be the best Basketball Player you can be, and so you know, i even talk about that in my book as well, how it was taboo for a younger player to be interested in taking Care Of his or her body, and so you know, its great that were talking about these things now, but theyre new. And so when things are new, we know how that is, we have to interpret them, It Takes a while, and were just now getting to a point where were having a conversation about it, which is great, but we have to continue it and keep putting the work in. Yeah, you note on page 136 in the footnote, its worth saying here, too, that taking Care Of your Mental Health is essential too, you saluted Kevin Lofb and other players who are bringing more attention to it and you write it doesnt matter how great a shape you are in, anxiety depression, harmful thoughts can upend your career more than any other injury. Dont play through them or ignore them. Get help. Take it seriously. You deserve to feel good inside. Chris, i think thats why a lot of people really rally to Naomi Osakas side in this, but i wonder what your sense is in how to balance those pressures. Those Press Conference are how a lot of younger players, newer players around her age, and around her age in careers get noticed so maybe there is a balance to strike. Well, i will say this, you know, thats kind of been a hot topic ever since she withdrew from the French Open. It hadnt occurred to me that she had that moment in the u. S. Open and got booed. Now, i want a lot of people to understand that, everybody who is watching this, i want to understand something, you finally reached the pinnacle of your dreams, youre playing, youre a hero, that by the grace of the higher power, you actually win, and you get booed after the match, you didnt do anything wrong, you have been working your whole life to get here and you get booed, i mean i more so understand where she is and how she can have a distaste for the ancillary things that have come her way, because, you know, if shes done nothing but work hard and accomplish her dreams, and sure, there are things that she has to handle, but you know, i understand that a little more, so, you know, she needs to take the time for herself, she needs to take the time to gather the tools and utilize those tools that she needs to get better, and when and if she wants to come to the game, shegame, she should do so on her own terms. One of the things that you write about in the book that reminded me about, everyone youre watching out there hurts. Everyone is in pain. Still remember what our Team President liked to say. Scratch the depths of Injury Soul and see whats there. In that series, the Nba Championship series, you write about our team found out what was there. How much do you think we are learning to empathize with the players . We just had this controversy with Kyrie Irving with the Brooklyn Nets who is Playing Tonight at the Barclays Center and the Boston Celtics players talking publicly about racial issues they have experienced in their time as nba players. Are we any closer just as fans to treating players with anything resembling the respect theyre due . You know, we are close. Look, i dont want a couple of fans or a few fans, you know, to damage the reputation and the work that the true fans who enjoy the game, who bring their children, who are Season Ticket holders. I dont want to mar them. I dont want the actions of a few people to mar that. Tens of thousands us of people come to watch the Nba Product every game. If a few people are acting up, i dont want that to mar that. With that said, yeah, there is some behavior. Its been shocking to kind you have watch in the past couple of weeks the behavior of a couple of fans because its like, man, you are going to ruin for everybody, right . We are just get to a point where were back watching playful basketball. How special is that . We didnt have that last year. Its just one of those things to where we have to get used to knowing the person of an athlete as opposed to just watching what you see on tv and interpreting those things for yourself. We are in a mode where you get to know that person. You have to know that person. And that person has things and issues that they care about. Well, this book is a great way to get to know more about you and what you learned in your time in the nba and also lessons for living for anybody. The book is Letters To A Young Athlete.
