Prince harry reveals more about his struggles after the death of his mother and who he blames for that. Thats coming up later on this hour. But we do want to begin with newly released video in the fatal arrest of a black man two years after his death. The Louisiana State police have finally released Body Cam Footage in the brutally violent 2019 arrest of Ronald Greene after the Associated Press published leaked clips showing white officers beating and Tasing Greene repeatedly while he was handcuffed and face down on the ground. We want to show you some of this footage, but i do want to warn you, it is very disturbing. Let me see your [ bleep ] hands. Let me see your [ bleep ] hands, mother [ bleep ]. I got out. Come here, mother [ bleep ]. Im scared. Taser, taser, taser. Youre about to get it again if you dont put your hands behind your back, mother, you better not move. You all right . Blood all over. I hope this guy aint got a. I. D. S. So, police initially told Greenes Family that he had died after crashing his car during a highspeed Police Chase after an unspecified traffic violation. They said greene did struggle with police and died on his way to the hospital, but Yesterdays Release of the full Body Cam Footage shows the detention of greene was aggressively violent. All right, sir. Dont you turn over. All right. Dont you turn over. Lay on your belly. Lay on your belliment. Yes, sir. Okay, okay, sir. Lay on your [ bleep ] belly. Yes, sir. Do you understand . Yes, sir. So, one of the troopers, chris hollingsworth, who died in a single Vehicle Highway Crash hours after he learned he would be fired for his role in the incident, admitted in the footage to the rough physical treatment of greene. I beat the everliving [ bleep ] out of him, choked him and Everything Else, trying to get him under control. And then all Of A Sudden he just went limp. Damn. Yeah, i thought he was dead. Wow. All right. During a Press Conference yesterday, Louisiana Police Superintendent promised to hold their personnel accountable and so the department had made changes to their use of force tactics and training. Despite this, the family of Ronald Greene is still seeking answers for what actually led to his death and how it could have been prevented. Joining me now, ron haley. Thanks for joining us on this. Really appreciate it. My first question to you, ron, is, how is the family reacting to the release of all of the Body Cam Footage . Well, its a bit of a doubleedged sword for the family, and one way, they are finally glad that the truth is coming out and the world can see the abuse that ronnie endured in may 2019, but also the extent of the coverup of his murder. However, it is extremely painful for them to relive on television every night ronnies death. And so, they are its a struggle for them in that way. This happened two years ago and its been like pulling teeth ever since to get the release of this Body Cam Footage. Has the public support and outrage, has it helped . Oh, absolutely. Absolutely. The outrage of the public, the support of the public worldwide has definitely comforted the family, but it just shows just how ridiculous this was and whats disturbing to me, yasmin, is how this is almost like another day at the office for these troopers. At the end of it, the lieutenant, lieutenant clary, basically gives a thumbs up to these guys, telling them, hey, you guys did a good job tonight. Thats think how sick that is. And it makes you wonder, has this happened before . We do know that three weeks after this incident, the same troop, troop f, the Louisiana State police, Beat Another Black Man at his house with a flashlight. Trooper Jacob Brown was arrested in that case. This is three weeks after you killed a guy. And yet, youre still doing the same tactics so it begs the question for me, has this happened before . I believe the answer is yes. And did it happen after this . And that answer is yes as well. Well, so, you bring up the discrepancies here, right, and i think thats what so many of us, especially the family, obviously, im sure and you as the attorney and the public really want to drill down on which is why there are so many discrepancies in what actually happened, the cause of death, because the troopers initially telling Greenes Family that he died on impact after crashing into a tree. That is not how it happened. The autopsy saying it was cocaineinduced agitated delirium complicated by motor vehicle collision, physical struggle, inflicted Head Injury and restraint, but then the a. P. Noting, ron, that the Autopsy Report did not, in fact, specify the manner of death, which is highly unusual, so how do you drill down on the cause of death here . Listen. Everyone in the world that saw this video knows what the cause of death is. They beat ronnie to death. They killed him. And Everything Else they did afterwards was to cover it up. Thats what happened. It does not take a Rocket Scientist to see why Ronnie Greene died. He died because cory york, Dakota Demoss and Clifford Hollingsworth murdered him while other officers stood behind and watched. Ron haley, i appreciate you joining us and talking us through this. I hope you circle back with us as this thing progresses. Were going to keep our eye on it. Thank you, ron. To discuss this Case And Police reform further, i want to bring in Sonia Pruitt, founder of the black Police Experience and member of the Law Enforcement Action Partnership And Juanita toliver. Thank you so much for joining us. Im sure you just listened to the conversation i had with the familys attorney. This video, and i watched all the Body Cam Footage both inside the vehicles of the Police Officers and the footage that was on them. And its astounding. Its so disturbing, and captain, i want to play some of it for you as were going over this. I want to play a longer version of trooper hollingsworth, actually the trooper that subsequently died in a Car Crash after he was told that he was being terminated, talking about the incident, and then i want to get your reaction. I beat the everliving [ bleep ] out of him, choked him and Everything Else, trying to get him under control. And we finally got him in handcuffs when a third man got there. And the son of a [ bleep ] was still fighting and we were still wrestling with him, trying to hold him down because he was spitting blood everywhere and then all Of A Sudden, he just went limp. Damn. Yeah. I thought he was dead. We set him up real quick. Hes on the ambulance en route to glenwood, and im hauling ass trying to catch up to him. Do you think Hell Yall got it on Body Cam . Captain . First, i want to say to my friend, ron haley, Thank You for taking on this case. I want to say to the family, we are prayerfully hopeful about the appropriate outcome in this case, and then i want to say that you would not treat a dog like they treated mr. Greene. This is reminiscent of we could just say 1964. We could say 1920. We could probably go all the way back to slavery where we have documentation of how black people were being treated by slave patrollers. I mean, the disdain, the brutality, the lying, and the coverup, it really speaks to the systemic race issues that police have, which some people, especially Police Leadership and police unions, do not want to talk about. I want to play another piece, captain, because i do think its important for folks to actually see what took place there, and theres a lot of Body Cam Footage to get through. This is also disturbing, and it shows Ronald Greene being sprayed repeatedly while he is lying face down with his belly on the ground, as the officer repeatedly told him to keep his belly on the ground while he tried to turn over. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Oh lord. Sit. Im sorry, im sorry. Its so troubling, its so upsetting to watch that video, captain. Whats going on there . Why would they continue to do that . Why . Because they werent dealing with a Human Being in their minds. You know, i wrote a piece the other day about this case, and i compared it to what mississippi burning, what that case must have been like when they dragged john cheney, one of the three civil rights workers, out of the car and they brutally beat him. Out of the three civil rights workers, he was the only black one. They brutally beat him and then they shot him. I imagine he was probably begging for his life as well while they laughed and they made foul remarks and called him out of his name. And again, here we are in 2021, and im going to ask the audience and the people who are allies to the black and brown and other vulnerable communities, what are we ready to do to have this Terrorism Stop . Juanita, if Theres Anything that is going to make Police Reform happen, it should be the video of George Floyd for 9 minutes. That officer having his knee on his neck. It should be this video when you hear Ronald Greene saying, im scared. Repeatedly, you hear him crying out, repeatedly, as hes being tased, wanting to turn over, saying, im scared, over and over again, as the Police Officers approached him, even, they were calling him a Mother And I cant say the rest of the name, the rest of the word. Just the mistreatment, the overall mistreatment of this man. Do you think an instance like this, videos like this, can help push Police Reform . I think, yasmin, as heartbreaking and traumatizing as it is to have these videos on rotation, it absolutely is impactful to public awareness, but Im Thinking of all the incidents not captured on video. Im thinking of all the black and brown people who are murdered at the hands of police who dont get any sense of accountability or any sense of awareness. And so when i think about what accountability looks like, i think about the recent call that we had from House Democrats, ten members, who sent a letter to leadership who are negotiating the George Floyd policing act, saying, we need to end qualified immunity protections in order to be able to hold individual Police Officers accountable for their actions and their behavior, because between 2013 and 2020, less than 2 of Police Officers were charged in a crime in which a person was killed. And its, again, truly traumatizing to see these videos, and it feels like were on a perpetual rinse and repeat cycle here. And its going to we have to disrupt this System And Policing needs to be redefined as Captain Pruitt mentioned, its founded in the history of slave patrols. Its founded in racism. Its founded in dehumanizing discriminatory practices. And until its redefined through investments in communities, through investments in projects that dont require armed individuals who were never meant to make black and brown communities feel safe or protected, were going to continue on this vicious cycle. So, we need to continue this conversation because i think the next big question is, how do you disrupt the system when you have so many folks wanting to stand in the way of that disruption. Retired Police Captain Sonia Pruitt and juanita tolliver. Coming up, republicans quick refusal to even entertain a Compromise Offer on infrastructure. It comes after the gop has all but turned its back on a commission to investigate the capitol hill riot. Up next, congresswoman titus, who serves on Homeland Security Committee on whether this all could be the straw that breaks the camels back when it comes to the Senate Filibuster thats preventing action on the democratic agenda. One of the most infamous faces of the January 6th insurrection will undergo a Mental Health competency hearing. He faces six federal charges in connection with the capitol attack. The Competency Exam was a request of chansleys own attorney who claims his clients Mental Health has deteriorated behind bars. Just days from now, a vote in the senate is expected to derail a 9 11 Style Commission with democrats unlikely to get the ten republicans theyll need to overcome a potential filibuster. After months of negotiations, the house passed the Commission Bill this week 252175. However, many of the 175 republicans who voted against the legislation were singing a very different tune back in january. The president s immediate action also deserves congressional action, which is why i think a Factfinding Commission and a Censure Resolution would be prudent. Of course, were as concerned. I never thought id ever see this in the united states. Unfortunately, ive seen this before overseas, and were better than this. Weve had Police Officers that have been hurt, and then youve entered the capitol and you have destroyed, youve broken windows, and their behavior was unacceptable. So, now the bill will head to the senate where Senator Minority Leader Mitch Mcconnell is lying in wait, despite the different tune that he was also singing back in january. Last time the senate convened, we had just reclaimed the capitol from violent criminals who tried to stop congress from doing our duty. The mob was fed lies. They were provoked by the president and other powerful people. After careful consideration, ive made the decision to oppose the House Democrats slanted and unbalanced proposal for another commission to study the events of January 6th. All right, lets bring in democratic Congresswoman Dina Titus from nevada. Congresswoman, thanks for joining us on this saturday. Appreciate it. Before we talk about the commission or the possible lack thereof, i wanted to get your reaction to republicans dismissing out of hand the white House Compromise Proposal on infrastructure. What is your hope here, having this kind of proof now that the gop is, seemingly, unwilling to negotiate moving the needle at all for democrats, especially when you have folks like Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema that need to be on board if democrats are going to push through without republicans. Well, im very disappointed. Im always an optimistic. I thought wed get enough republicans to support the commission after what they said, but apparently, i should be more cynical. I guess they were saying those things just looking for an out so they wouldnt have to vote for impeachment, and now theyre worried about it being a political campaign issue. This commission is not a campaign issue. This is about saving our democracy. Its about the peaceful transfer of power, which is exactly the hallmark of the way our system works. I taught that in Political Science classes for years. And once you stop that, youre on a slippery slide away from Democracy Right towards tyranny, and thats what the founding fathers sought to prevent. So, i do want to talk about the January 6th commission, the importance of it from your perspective. And why it is folks, republicans specifically, wont necessarily get on board, considering they experienced it firsthand, but when it comes to infrastructure, you have the democrats, essentially the biden White House, essentially, saying, listen, were reducing this thing from 2. 25 trillion to 1. 7 trillion. Republicans subsequently outright denying this reduction. What do you make of it, and is it going to push folks like Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin to possibly rule in favor of the democrats to push forward without republicans, seeing that it seems like theyre not willing to compromise . Well, the president said he was going to reach across the aisle. Thats what were doing in the transportation infrastructure committee. I sit on that committee. We would like to have them on board. We have heard from governors and mayors all across the country, democrats and republicans, who need infrastructure improvements, whether its bridges, roads, or internet, and the only people who are opposed to it seem to be the republicans in washington. At a certain point, youve got to quit making them offers. This was a good faith offer. The president cut some of the things from his original plan, and they still arent interested. You heard mcconnell say his goal was to stop any of the agenda of biden. He said the same thing about president obama. That didnt work out so well for him. So, this probably wont either, because the people know this is something that we need to get farm to market, get people to Tourist Destinations and put people back to work is going to create more jobs than any program since the new deal. All right, so i do want to talk about the January 6th commission now. Huffington post reporting 16 republicans who con sponsored the Davis Bill back in january backed the bill. Whats it been like in the room, negotiating when it comes to establishing a January 6th commission and what do you think has so significantly changed for these republicans not wanting to push forward with the commission . Well, i sit on the Homeland Security Committee, and Speaker Pelosi trusted the chair of that committee to come up with a compromise deal. Working with the republicans on the committee, Bennie Thompson and Senator Capito came with that compromise. Included that bill were the three demands that mccarthy made, having equal people from both parties, having equal subpoena power, not going in with any preset determinations of what would be found. All that was included, and then the most of them still voted no, so i dont know what better thing we could have put together. Its like a 9 11 commission. It puts it in the hands of experts. It takes the politics out of it, looks at the big picture, and the main thing is its set to determine how to keep it from happening again. Are you worried something like January 6th will happen again . Well, you certainly hear testimony in that committee from our intelligence sources and Law Enforcement sources that the main source of threat to the united states is internal terrorism, not external terrorism. So, a lot of these organizations that were present there and stormed the capitol have not gone away, and so we shouldnt assume that theyre satisfied with what happened on that one day. Many are being rounded up. They will be put in jail. They will be tried for the crimes that they committed, but theyre not going away. Theyre still out there. If not for January 6th commission, congresswoman, what else can be done . Well, the different committees are investigating different aspects of it. Certainly the fbi and the Justice Department are looking at the criminal components of what happened that day. But its not the same as having an external commission. Those are the experts. If you have congress looking at it, different committees look at different pieces, its not the overall approach, and it inevitably becomes partisan and political, and moving into an election year, that will be even worse. So, i hope that we can get some kind of outside committee, maybe some of those republicans in the senate will come to their senses and vote in favor of it. We just have to see. Congresswoman dina titus, Thank You. Great to see you. Coming up, everybody, New Yorks criminal probe into the Trump Organization, the countrys former executive Vice President , Barbara Res joins me next with her thoughts where the Trump Family is most vulnerable and whether trumps longtime Money Man could actually flip on the former president. Former president trumps legal woes have soared to new heights this week following new York Attorney general Letitia Jamess Decision to join forces with the manhattan d. A. And investigate the Trump Organization, quote, in a criminal capacity, as they put it. Jamess office, which has been conducting a civil Fraud Probe into the former president s Business Practices for more than two years announced this week that the inquiry had broadened beyond that. Trump was quick to lash out at prosecutors releasing a lengthy statement slamming the probe as, quote, corrupt and in desperate search of crime. Joining me now to talk about this, Barbara Res, former executive Vice President of the Trump Organization and author of Tower Of Lies what my 18 years of working with Donald Trump reveals about him. Barbara, thanks for joining us on this. Really appreciate it. Lets talk about the Paper Trail. Do you think the former president has enough of a Paper Trail behind him to implicate him in this criminal probe . A Paper Trail is difficult. I dont know that youll find a Paper Trail. I think you need witnesses. Why . Well, nobody can, you know, you cant say that somebodys responsible for committing a crime based on something that was on paper. Its very difficult, unless you wrote down, im going to kill somebody at 9 00 and that happened. Its more about, you know, the information that was given to people and who gave it to the people and why did they give it to them and thats not going to be trump doesnt do letters to his, you know, Allen Weisselberg, saying, i want you to do this, this, and this. Its all conversations. So, i think that youre going to need somebody to say, trump told me this or trump did this. Doesnt have to be weisselberg. I do want to talk about Allen Weisselberg since you brought him up. You have said the primary concern of Allen Weisselberg is his children and their involvement in this probe. His former daughterinlaw spoke to cnn earlier this week. I want to play a bit of that exchange. To be a liar is a a cheater is a liar is a thief and as far as im concerned, theres been nothing legal going on in the past 21 years. Will Allen Weisselberg flip on trump . Yes. Wow. I mean, no hesitation at all with your answer there. So, just to make things clear, barry weisselberg, that womans former husband, used to run the trump Skating Rink in central park. Do you think that Allen Weisselbergs children being under threat will be enough . As she put it, to flip on the former president. Yes. I do. I think its if its really a serious threat, if its reliable, if it looks like its going to happen, yes, i do think that. I dont Think Allen will send his children to jail. I mean, you know, based on what weve read about him, paying for or arranging for all their expenses so they can live like multimillionaires, clearly he has some great affection for them and thats not going to disappear because he wants to placate trump. Thats not going to happen. If theres a thought or a threat of them going to jail or he himself going to jail, i think that he will flip. Can you read Between The Lines here . When i read for you this statement from the former president after hearing about this criminal probe. Heres what the statement reads. Theres nothing more corrupt than an investigation that is in desperate search of a crime but make no mistake that is exactly whats happening here. The Attorney General of New York literally campaigned on prosecuting Donald Trump even before she knew anything about me. That is what he said publicly. How do you suspect hes reacting privately . Privately, i think hes incensed. I think hes outraged and incredulous that this could happen and that its proceeded so far and why hasnt this been stopped by the people he put in place to do that kind of thing . Obviously, he doesnt have barr anymore so he Cant Use that. But he has all these people that are infiltrated all over different agencies, and i think he probably didnt think this was going to happen. He is extremely angry, and of course hes looking for someone to blame, and hell blame anyone. Maybe even his kids. Im not so sure about that. I heard someone say that today. But its a possibility. Hes going to blame somebody for this, and its not going to, you know, lawyers and accountants can do so much. After a while, its going to be his inside people. Is he the type of man that would give up his kids to save himself . Barbara . You know, if you asked me that 30 years ago, i would have said no. Ive watched, and if you read in my book, you see the evolution in Donald Trump since i started working for him in 78. I have such a hard time believing anyone could do that, that it makes me hesitant to say this, but yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Barbara res, Thank You. I appreciate it. Thanks for joining us. I want to bring in joyce vance, Msnbc Contributor and former u. S. Attorney and tim obrien, senior columnist at bloomberg opinion. Thank you both guys for joining us. Im sure youre just listening to the interview i had with barbara. Also Michael Cohen saying the same thing, that essentially, joyce, the former president may very well flip on his own kids if all roads lead back to him. Talk about the change in dynamics here now that this is a criminal probe and is it time or is it too late, really, for his children to start lawyering up . Well, if they havent already lawyered up, its clear that they need to. Something that prosecutors almost always will treat as a certainty is that people will protect their children from prison. Its a rare defendant, i have seen it happen on occasion, but a rare defendant who will let a child take the fall for that activity or who wont seek to protect their child from their own criminal activity. So, the problem here is that weisselberg now faces pressure, more pressure, because of tish james, the new York Attorney generals involvement. There is some reporting that suggests that she may have evidence about tax charges that could potentially be used to pressure him. On the other hand, we have Donald Trump, who, according to people close to him, would give up his children to save himself, and that really leads to a difficult situation for everyone involved. You know, much of the media anticipated stuff like this was happening, tim, you and i talked when Donald Trump was still president. Anticipated these investigations would continue and they may very well turn into criminal investigations and now it seems like they have. I want to read a bit from your oped for bloomberg, talking about this. Donald trump has managed, as you wrote, to maneuver past the threat of personal bankruptcy, sexual assault accusations, and intensive federal investigation and two impeachments. The new York Probes may prove to be more difficult for trump and his company to overcome. Why, tim . Because theres an orange Jump Suit awaiting him at the end of this road, potentially, yaz. You know, Donald Trump turns 75 next month and he spent 55 years thumbing his nose at the law, at civic norms of just common decency, at responsibility, and all of that is catching up with him now. There is some theres a little bit of, you know, for New Yorkers, who have watched him closely over these last few decades, none of this is surprising. I think the rest of the country caught up with what New Yorkers knew, and theres some sort of karma in it, i suppose, that now you have two new York Prosecutors who are going to a place that Robert Mueller and congress didnt or couldnt. And i think for every Challenge Trump has met, he has not been the subject of a criminal well, hes not been proximate to an intense criminal probe. We dont know yet, because the fact pattern, the evidentiary Trail Isnt completely clear yet, how much this will land in his lap, but clearly, the legal net is tightening around him quite dramatically, and hes never experienced that before. And he has no leverage over this. He has no leverage as president to try to disrupt it in the way he did the mueller probe. He will, i think, try to unleash popular opposition to it the way he did to his impeachment, both impeachments, but he doesnt have any practical way to stick his fingers into the machinery of both of these investigations. Other than to complain about them. And theyre the most serious investigations from a financial and legal perspective, i think, that he has ever faced. So, tim, i asked barbara about a possible Paper Trail. I asked her, is there a Paper Trail that could feasibly implicate the former president , and she said no. There needs to be witnesses. The likelihood of a Paper Trail is fairly low. You talk about kind of this evidentiary trail, as you put it. Is this purposeful on behalf of the Trump Organization to not necessarily have a Paper Trail . And how is it that they have been doing business . Yeah, you know, Donald Trump does not even have his own email account, and that is not an accident. You know, he had rhona graph, his Executive Assistant for years, she handled all the email for him. He is, for whatever weaknesses or faults Donald Trump has as a Human Being, he has a reptilian ability to survive, and one of the things thats always ringing above his head is, how do i avoid responsibility . And he is smart about making sure someone else is in place to take the fall, but remember, though, remember the Vance Investigation begins, i think, out of Michael Cohen and a recording in which he says to trump, how do we pay off these two women . And trump says, talk to allen. Thats what theres a recording of that. And that blossomed into a falsification of business records investigation, which has now become tax fraud, Banking Fraud and possible insurance fraud. So there are recordings of trump, and there are people around him who know what he said and did. Joyce, quickly here, how far down the road do you believe they are in this criminal probe . Its hard to assess and something thats very frustrating for people who have not been inside of one of these investigations is how long they take. But it looks to me like time is finally running out, at least for the Trump Organization, maybe for the individuals involved. Its not uncommon for a whitecollar or a public Corruption Case to take years to make, and because of the delays in many cases imposed by trump le tijsness, Cy Vance has had time to put the case together. You dont usually have a defendant or a target saying, lets go out and commit fraud together. Lets go out and crime. So, you have to put it together Step By step with evidence of the transaction and witnesses. Prosecutors have had time to do that here. Joyce, tim, Thank You both. Great to see you.
