Pretty slim this weekend. Democratic Congressman Jonah Boost told msnbc what could happen if the filibuster is used to block it. I can think of no better signal that the united States Senate is fundamentally broken as an institution, if it is bipartisan commission that would investigate the events of January 6th and if that is the case the caucus will have to step forward and eliminate the filibuster once and for all so that we can finally deliver for the american people. New reporting in politico reveals some democrats are raising concerns for safety as a bill to bolster Capital Security faces an unnamed fate in the senate. Opposition could mean months of delays for help that the democrats say its sorely needed. New fallout related to the death of a Black Man after his arrest by troopers in louisiana. We will have the breaking details as well as new analysis on Ronald Greens arrest later this hour and this comes as congress appears likely to miss the May 25th Deadline issued by President Biden to get a bill on his desk. It marks the Oneyear Anniversary of floyds killing. And the bipartisanship on an Infrastructure Plan also taking a hit. Republicans rejecting the White Houses 1. 7 trillion plan down from the 2. 2 Trillion plan. I stock with Tim Kaine in the last hour about it. We have been given a signal by the senate parliamentarian, by the Reconciliation Process which requires a simple Party Vote and democrats, were going to do it. We would rather do it in a bipartisan way because that would make the bill better, frankly, but if we cannot find republican cooperation, were committed to invest in a historic way in american infrastructure. From there now to nbcs Monica Alba for the latest on the stalled infrastructure talks. I know that the president was hoping to make significant progress by a week from monday, memorial day, does that seem realistic . It doesnt seem very likely, alex and exactly what Senator Kaine told you in that interview is the biggest clue because democrats are having that conversation, if we cant get any republicans onboard, what are our options. They know that they may have to go through the process of reconciliation like the covid relief bill, but the president says he is still hopeful that republicans will somehow come to an agreement, but these Face To face negotiations havent yielded much progress or advancement. We know, for example, the 568 Billion that those senators have proposed is not at all what the White House envisions they want more of the 1. 7 trillion even though they did shave off a lot from the 2. 2 Trillion and the White House is saying we have made concessions and trying to reduce the size of this. We want to keep the conversations going. So we can expect more of these meetings to continue in the days to come and having framework by memorial day, at this point that seems highly unlikely and heres how white House Press Secretary Jen Psaki framed the discussions and why they are still holding out hope for republicans and democrats to work together on infrastructure. In our view, this is the act the art, i should say of seeking Common Ground. This proposal exhibits a willingness to come down in size, given on some areas that are important to the president , otherwise they wouldnt have been in the proposal and will also stay firm in areas that are most vital to rebuilding our infrastructure. Reporter so after that meeting yesterday, republicans said both sides seem further apart than even earlier on in the talks and we are now getting a reaction from the White House this morning in terms of how they see this proceeding with white House Spokesman Andrew Bates telling me the ball is essentially in the Republicans Court now to respond with a goodfaith counteroffer. Alex, if youre keeping track, this is a counter to a counter to a counter to the original. We are seeing an evolution to the numbers and not a lot of Common Ground and one of the major disagreements still is how to pay for this massive plan. The president has pledged not to raise taxes on anyone making less than 400,000. Republicans dont want to see the corporate Tax Rate go up, in terms of how theyre going to agree on tackling this spending, that also is a major question in all of this and one the president is going to have to weigh in in terms of what signal he wants to give his own party on how they should proceed on this very top legislative Agenda Priority Item for him, alex. By your description, thank you very much, Monica Alba for keeping an eye on the Bouncing Ball for us. I appreciate that. The vote to create a commission as early as next week, but what started as a bipartisan bill is now facing an Uphill Battle as a growing number of gop senators oppose the legislation, this even after 35 house republicans broke ranks to support it. Lets go to Leann Caldwell joining us from Capitol Hill with the latest on this. Welcome to you on this saturday. How optimistic are democrats feeling about this legislation . Well, chris, its pretty increasable that 35 house republicans were willing to rebuke their leadership on this issue in the house and in the senate there are zero so far who have come out in support of this legislation as it currently stands. So democrats are not optimistic and republicans arent optimistic, either, that anything is going to pass. My sources among senate democrats have been texting me, asking me how republicans could use the January 6th commission as their first filibuster. Thats a sentiment that senator Tim Kaine of virginia said to you earlier. Lets listen to what he said. If they try to use the Fill Buster to block the analysis of why the capitol was attacked for the first time since the war of 1812, i think that would send a powerful message, i think it will probably convince a lot of democrats that if were going to do what the american public needs, we may have to go it alone. So what does Senator Kaine mean by going it alone . Democrats do have some options. They can use the current congressional Committee Infrastructure to investigate January 6th, but alex, an independent commission is the most bipartisan path forward, and so if republicans are unwilling to mostly because of politics not wanting it to bleed into the Midterm Election this year, you can be sure that a select committee created by democrats will be much more political and alex, its still going to be a political issue in the midterms next year regardless, so the vote could happen in the senate and it will be very difficult to get those ten republicans to join all 50 democrats. Youre 100 right and you read my mind. Maybe getting that reconciled can allow it to move forward. Thank you, leigh ann, for that. Donald trump has charged the Secret Service more than 40,000 to use space at maralago. The receipts from the freedom of information request, and found taxpayers paid 400,000, and maralago, and david farenhall. Thank you very much for being here. Is the Secret Service a gift that will continue to keep on giving to trump properties . It looks like it, yes. He is going to get secret Service Protection for the rest of his life. It seems like he is planning to live inside his properties where he rents out rooms for the rest of his life. Trump seems to be charging these folks indefinitely and it will be 400 a night for every Night Hell be at maralago. Rooms for protection for anybody else and his extended family, whether at maralago or elsewhere, he wouldnt be able to charge for that if it wasnt on his properties, the extent to which his family would also be getting secret Service Protection, would that go for the rest of his life, too. No, the rest of his family gets protection for six months and he expanded that, but just for six months. Youve also been reporting on new York Investigations on the Trump Organization and one of the most asked questions from your readers is what part of Trumps Life is under investigation in New York, and you say that it may be related to taxes. Is that the lowest Hanging Fruit in the investigations of large organizations like this . Well, i think the two areas that they seem to be focused on in this case are taxes and trumps relationships with lenders and those are the two parts that we know the best. That trump failed to pay taxes on things like debts that were forgiven and that trump lowballed his taxes improperly with the Conservation Easements on his properties and also did trump try to fool his own lenders by trying to say he was worth more than he was to not be a credit risk. What the investigators have said in public, those seem to be their focus. So now that the new York Attorney generals saying that criminal charges can be filed, there seems to be consensus among former insiders that pressure now may be applied to the longtime Trump Cfo Alan weisselberg. Lets take a listen to that. I Think Weisselberg is very concerned about his kids. I think what theyre doing is the kind of thing they do with flint. I dont Think Weisselberg would let his children go to jail. Alan does not want to spend the golden years of his liven incarcerated. On top of that he has his two sons that he managed to get involved in the Trump Organization and truth be told, he doesnt want to see them in prison either. Do you Think Weisselberg will flip on trump . Yes. So does this suggest to you that the new York Investigators are confident weisselberg is the one thats privy to any potential criminality inside the Trump Organization . They seem to be focused on him for that reason. This sounds like a big company, and its a small company with just a few people in charge of all its secrets and Alan Weisselberg is at the center of that. He manages his personal political gifts and his gifts from his charity any every check that goes in and out is signed by trump and seen by weisselberg. So if Theres Anyone that understands whats been happening is weisselberg. You need to know what trump was thinking and did he know it was wrong and he did it anyway . Weisselberg would be the best human source, as you said, if anything criminal happened he probably saw it and talked to trump about it. So to your point about the fact that the Trump Family can have six months of protection, and that will be up for another couple of months. The Daily Beast is reporting that Jared Kushner, yes, still getting secret Service Protection and taxpayers were shelling out 13,000 in Hotel Costs for his trip this month for Abu Dhabi . Is this unusual, is it typical that in the period that in the period after the Presidency End that the family will go and still charge the Secret Service for Global Travel . Well, its not typical. Just because we havent had a family like this before. Trump has a number of adult children and some of them are married and they travel extensively. Theyre international business people, at least in the case of jared. Theres never been a case like this, but i feel if youll give Jared Kushner secret Service Protection, you have to expect that this is the kind of trip he would take. He put us on the hook for this kind of charge right then. David ferenhold, have a good weekend. Thank you. Right now, thousands of protesters in london are showing support for the palestinian people. Palestine will be free this very large demonstration comes after palestinians clashed with jerusalem and it happened after a ceasefire went into effect in gaza. Lets make our way to erin mclaughlin. There have been roadblockages in the neighborhood of sheikh jarrah, according to an Nbc Producer who was there. Around 5 00 p. M. Protesters arrived to protest the blockages and they were by israeli police and they were thrown Stink Water and they were there, that israeli police were attempting to restore order. According to the producer, confrontations continued for hours there and its the kind of thing that can quickly escalate as it did in the days leading up to that violence over gaza which left some 260 palestinians killed as well as 12 israelis. So authorities are monitoring that situation around the world very closely, and it also signifies that the underlying dynamics of the conflict have not changed which is not lost on israelis In The City of ashkalOn And it was bombarded by Hamas Rocket Fire through the 11day Conflict and we were there talking to israelis. I spoke to one man in the hours leading up to the ceasefire and a Rocket Hit his living room. This is what he had to say about how hopeful he is for the ceasefire to continue. Take a listen. Do you think the ceasefire is going to hold . Who knows . Maybe a month . Maybe two . Maybe half a year . Maybe a year, but at some point its usually On And on, you know . Thats the routine here, pretty much. Reporter now the u. S. Secretary of state is expected in the region next week to discuss the ceasefire as well as aid for gaza. Alex . Okay. Back now to the breaking news with new reaction to the release of Police Body Cam related to the death of a Black Man following his arrest by troopers in the state of louisiana. I want to give you a warning, these images in the video are graphic and they are disturbing. Ronald green, a 49yearold unarmed driver was taken into custody by Louisiana State police that happened in may 2019. Troopers nationally told Greens Family that he died after crashing his suv into a tree after a highspeed chase. He died on his way to the hospital. Yesterdays release of Body Cam videos related to the incident indicates there is a violent detention. Green appears to have been tased, punched, kicked and at one point dragged by his shackled ankles as he lay face down. Trooper hollingsworth, was about to be terminated when he died in a car crash. Trooper demoss has been notified of intent to terminate and trooper york was suspended for 15 hours and back on duty. Joining us now is priscilla with the very latest on this. I spoke with Ronald Greens mother just a little while ago and it goes without saying this has been a very difficult day for her. She says its like grieving the loss of her son all over again. She has not been able to watch all of this video that has been released in its entirety. She said it is simply too painful and the screams that she heard from when she initially watched it with police still haunt her to this day, and that no mother should have to see the final moments of their childs life, let alone, have to relive them over and over again by watching them on video. So just a really, really tough day for her today and of course, all of this video coming out late last night as Louisiana State police decided that they would release it in its entirety for the public to see. The first glimpse that we are all getting at it really this week, a reminder that it is very disturbing, but i want you to take a look at this clip of what happened that night. Dont you turn over. All right. Dont you turn over. Lay on your belly. Lay on your belly yes, sir okay. Okay. Sir. [ bleep ] your belly. Do you understand . Yes, sir yeah. And so Greens Mother says that, you know, two years later i asked her about the timing of this Video Release that were all seeing and she says that she is angry that it has taken so long and that she is going to continue to fight and demand justice for her son until this is all over, and not only are we seeing that video, but we also now have a copy of that official Autopsy Report that Nbc News and other outlets have be on takened and what it shows is that Ronald Green did have high levels of Cocaine And Alcohol in his system, but it also shows that he suffered a number of injuries including a broken breastbone, a torn aorta and also a head injury. It is unclear whether he sustained those injuries during the Car Chase and subsequent crash or whether that is something that occurred during that altercation with troopers, but what we do know is that the medical examiner did not list a manner of death, so did not say whether it was homicide, accidental, undetermined, so certainly still a lot of questions here today for both the public and the family. Again, two years into this investigation, i will say that the family attorney, i spoke with him a little while ago also and he does expect to see indictments coming in the next couple of months following the release of this video, and as a reminder, there is a State Investigation that is happening, and there is also a federal civil Rights Investigation that was opened late last year that is still under way. So lots of folks still waiting for answers on the ground here, alex . Sure are. Priscilla thompson, thank you for that. Lets bring in Nbc News Contributor Brittany Cunningham and previously served on President Obamas policing task force. As i listen to that video, what i hear is mr. Greenspeaking with respect to the officers, always yes, sir, yes, sir, yes, sir, and yet from them that video and every other one ive heard theyre theyre addressing him with dehumanizing name calling. Its got to be a Gut Punch to see this. It upsets me so much. So what is your reactiOn And the fact that we are seeing this now. It was leaked to the associated press. We wouldnt be seeing it potentially otherwise, right . Thats right. We wouldnt be knowing the truth potentially otherwise, and we keep having to lose lives in order to prove points that black communities and indigenous communities have been making for a very long time that no, simply complying with officers and being respectful does not save our lives as is the case in louisiana and we also know that very often the police are not telling the full truth or even half the truth just like in this case. We heard one story and then the truth ended up being something entirely different and alex, i will remind you that we just closed the show on trial because there was a videotape of what happened to george floyd. The official Police Accounting in the beginning was nothing like what the Video Evidence finally showed. Unfortunately, Police Officers and departments too often lie and there is a lesson for the media in this to remember that we have a responsibility to give a full accounting of what happens in these situations and to not simply accept what the police have said as the official accounts. Whats interesting, too. I noted and i dont want to speculate on what the reasoning is for it, but i did have a dispatcher. You can tell a dispatcher who is asking one of the officers is the Body Cam video activated. So whether its a matter of course that they asked that or if there was meaning considering the profane language that that officer was using with the dispatcher describing what hed done is pretty appalling. With regard to the Louisiana State, the trooper involved has been replaced now. That has been accomplished. What more needs to be accomplished . We need to be talking consistently about systemic change. We have this conversation all of the time because frankly, i dont know how much more its going to take and how many more lives have to be lost for us to realize that louisiana is no more unique than minnesota, missouri, ohio and New York. The fact that this is happening everywhere and all the time over A Thousand times per year means that its not just a single officer or a single City Municipality or department and this is in the dna of american policing, and until we take it out from its very roots and replace this system of policing with a true orientation toward public safety, that funds communities from the ground up instead of overpolicing them from the top down, we will keep experiencing Groundhog Day and that Groundhog Day is costing people their lives. A hell of a Groundhog Day. Lets switch gears here and talk about what happened just this week. Attorneys general from 20 states sent a letter to the Education Secretary Miguel cardona asking him to reconsider a proposal that would prioritize the 1619 project and critical Race Theory for federal grant program. This push was led by the Indiana A. G. , but i want to put up a list of all of the state Attorneys General who signed this letter. Youre looking at everybody. What is your reaction to that . Are you surprised that so many a. G. S signed on to this letter . Im never surprised by how entrenched a culture of White Supremacy is, especially in departments of justice and im never surprised by how many people want to protect the myth of american exceptionalism and perfection. We can say this is an obsession with nicole hannahjones and she represents our best and brightest and the commitment to truth telling. She stands in the legacy of wells and most certainly a black woman like that who is doing the kind of work that she is, is a threat to the status quo, but even beyond nikole, she would tell you that this is par for the course. I had nikole on My Podcast On Undistracted and i asked her this question, why are folks so obsessed with blocking this truth . Unfortunately, a lot of those Attorneys General and the biggest critics of this Work Havent engaged with the work or read it, but a lot of them want us to ignore the fact that as Brian Stephenson says all of the time, slavery in this country did not end. It evolved and if things like the 1619 project and critical Race Theory are allowed to take their rightful place in academia and education, they know that what will happen is that marginalized people in this country, black people in particular will take our rightful place. We will take ownership of this country that we helped build. We will require that this government fully recognizes that its capitalism was built because enslaved africans were its first capital. And so demands like equitable policy, like reparatiOn And like leadership that doesnt just reflect our color and it reflects our values we will stop at nothing to get those things when we know the truth and that is not a Truth Or Future that theyre invested in because it threatens their power. Brittany cunningham, i love the fuel with which you talk about all of this thank you, my friend. Good to see you. Santa clara as the great american Theme Park reopened a short time ago. Good day to you. Whats it like there . You know, i guess, alex, if this doesnt say come back i dont know what does. You have an open Theme Park and visitors coming in, for the first time this year at californias great america in santa clara. If it feels sparse, there are a few reasons for that. People tend to come out here in the afternoOn And its still 10 30 in the morning here, but also theyre operating at 30 of capacity because of the pandemic and there say Reservation System and you can come here if you made a reservation online, and there are signs everywhere like this that masks required, vaccinated or not and the whole idea is to try and make this the experience that everyone was so much craving and just with a few modifications. I would say the biggest protocol is to help our guests understand how to social distance, that they need to stay in their Family Units and we have markers on the ground and well be encouraging them to do that to make sure theyre wearing their masks and staying in those units and as i said, the Sanitation Stations as you exit rides, people will be seated on rides in Family Groups or in groups that are together and the row behind them will be open. So were just trying to spread them out, that is the main object for the day. The whole industry, tourism in general, of course, has taken a huge hit over the last year. If you look at the Employment Figures for just Amusement Parks and arcades in california alone, last year at this time, 52,000 or so people employed at Amusement Parks and that was down as of a year ago to fewer than 7,000 people as the parks didnt open and even now were not even at half the normal level as we head into another may. This is an industry that contributes about 1. 5 billion if federal state and local taxes. So from an economic standpoint and just from kind of a psychic standpoint, its good to have it back, alex . It sure is. Its very exciting to see that Roller Coaster up and running. Thank you, scott cohn. As congress wrestles whether or not to form an independent commission to investigate what happened on January 6th, a new Bombshell Book on the Secret Service shows how politics and extremism have seeped into The Agency. Here is a stunning take on what happened, despite the heroism of their Brothers In Arms that day, some Secret Service personnel again took to Social Media in the days after january 6, empathizing with and defending the mission of the armed rioters who breached the capitol, the same ones who had endangered the pence agents and pummeled Capitol Police officers with Metal Pipes and bats. One secret Service Officer called the armed protesters patriots, seeking to undo an illegitimate electiOn And falsely claimed to her friends that disguised Antifa Members had started the violence. One president ial Detail Agent reposted a popular antibiden screed that criticized democrats for their relentless attacks on trump. Joining me now is Msnbc Contributor Carol lenning, the pulitzer prizewinning journalist for the Washington Post and the author of zero fail. The Rise And Fall of the Secret Service. If im at all blearyeyed today and drinking double the starbucks i usually do is because i could not put this book down last night. It is absolutely extraordinary. Wah. This is to someone who ive always loved the Secret Service, theyre cool and bad ass and you look at them in the movies and have so much respect for what they do and they will take a bullet if needed to protect a president. That is the image. However, i want to know your reaction to the revelation of these blatantly, protrump Secret Service members. Have there been repercussions for them and have they been switched out for this president , President Bidens Security Detail . Well, the answer, first off, i am so flattered that youre staying up late reading my book, i have to say, alex, thats a huge compliment. Its great. I have to answer your question, we dont know for sure about the repercussions because the Secret Service has issued a blank statement to most of the media including to me saying they take this kind of stuff seriously and theyre not discussing the specifics. I found out from other Secret Service agents and officers who were appalled that their colleagues were putting on Social Media messages basically saying that the biden team had stolen the election, that democrats had installed an illegitimate president and denied President Biden his rightful second term. This was disturbing to them and it was very concerning to the biden transition team. They had heard from people inside their friends in The Agency that there were very, very bigtime trump cheerleaders on the secret Service Detail that would eventually protect president Elect Biden and his team was worried about this and wanted more agents changed off that detail and the Secret Service did take a sort of a Baby Step in that direction by changing most of the senior supervisors on that detail and installing people who used to protect biden when he was Vice President and the person who used to protect Jill Biden when she was second lady, but as for the January 6th Social Media posts, we dont have a good answer on what the repercussions have been. So heres whats interesting about this book, the very beginning, i felt like you had to really explain why you read this book. You did so in an Authors Note and went into more detail in the prolog and you said, being look, i respect the Secret Service and this book is about revealing things so we can correct it, move forward and return to the glory that it once had based on its ability and yet, youre being pushed back again. So let me talk about this, the secret Service Director James Murray has responded to the revelations in the book and he says the american people can rest assured that the u. S. Secret service is an apolitical nonpartisan agency. Our focus is not on politics, but on uncompromising excellence and continual improvement protecting national and world leaders and the security of our nations financial system. Theres no tolerance for conduct that casts doubt on the unwavering commitment to execute these missions. So in that statement he says theres no tolerance for that conduct. Has there been any kind of active review, scrutiny in regard to extremism in the Secret Service . Sources of mine inside The Agency, alex, say that there is an artificial Intelligence Software Program that the service has started to use to try to see what its agents and officers are saying on Social Media, and if theres political bias, and by The Way, Director Murray has a good reputation as an agent and as a supervisor, but he was the director of the Secret Service when the president basically detailed one of the most senior people in The Agency, Tony Arnato to be a political aid for him in the White House. James murray and antonio arnato are close friends. Arnato was allowed to become chief of staff, a role that many alumni of The Agency and current agents found abhorrent. This is an agency that, you know, has a motto of you elect them and we protect them. Theyre supposed to be not rooting for a particular side and the director oversaw a step in the most senior agents in the whole division became the political arm of President Biden and is now the assistant director. So Heres Something thats pretty stunning. Weve seen the video of the capitol rioters chanting hang Mike Pence and Secret Service Rushing Pence out of the chamber and that was shown during the trial, and this revealed untold aspects of that day and the Secret Service wanted the former Vice President to leave the capitol. He refused. What do you know about the conversation between pence and his secret Service Detail . So Vice President pence and his family were extremely lucky that the secret Service Detail leader, Tim Gables quickly ran on to the senate floor, evacuated pence as soon as there was an alert that people had breached the building and the rioter his gotten through a window and were storming toward a senate chamber. Less than a minute when he was evacuated and taken to a hideaway, they were coming down the landing chanting hang pence. The Detail Leader for the Vice President asked him three times we need to get you out of here. On the third time, the Vice President said no. He wanted to stay in the building, and he wasnt going to be chased out. He wanted to finish the certification of the electiOn And on the third time the Detail Leader said no choice, were leaving, this is too unsafe. Extraordinary. Lets turn to the Trump Family. You talk about that in the book, as well and revealed two Trump Family members got inappropriately and perhaps dangerously close to agents protecting them while Donald Trump was protecting them. Can you tell us what kind of relationship that was and how that was dangerous . So i know about this because people who were agents working on the Trump Family detail remember very large family, grandchildren, spouses, grown children and of course, the second lady. There were growing concerns about two particular people, Tiffany Trump, the president s daughter appeared to be getting very close to her Detail Leader and they were wondering why they were spending so much time separate and alone from the other agents. Tiffany, through a spokesperson, Tiffany Trump said that there was nothing inappropriate about their relationship. However, Vanessa Trump was also reported by other agents to be dating a Secret Service agent on the family detail. She, through a spokesperson, has declined to comment on this. Again, i know a lot of people think this is salacious, but ultimately the agents reported it to their colleagues and to me because they were concerned about those personal relationships that can get in The Way of good security decisions. You dont want to have a romantic relationship with somebody when All Hell Breaks Loose and youve got to make splitsecond decisions about saving peoples lives including president s. Vanessa trump is the now exwife of Donald Trump jr. They got divorced during the time of the trump presidency. Okay. So carol, there are some fascinating and frightening details in the book about Secret Service lapses during the Obama Administration. You will recount some pretty scary close calls and all of that drives how youre describing the situation in the book. So stay with me and All Of You, as well and well be right back with carol lenig. As promised, we are back with carol lenig, the pulitzer prizewinning investigative reporter with the Washington Post, talking about her book zero fail. The Rise And Fall of the Secret Service. I was talking about the Trump Administration and i want to go further now to President Obama because in your book you say he was the most endangered president in history. The number of threats against his life as President Elect were four times what the Secret Service had ever had with other president s. Give me the nature of the threats and how much more challenging did was it to protect Barack Obama . It was a constant worry for his detail and the leadership of the Secret Service, alex. In the months before he was inaugurated, the director was already on alert. I mean, he was the first black president in American History and the chatter in nationalist domestic extremist groups, whit supremacist group, these website, dark web areas there was all this chatter and it was will very violent about how they were going to kill Barack Obama, comments they made about Michelle Obama even before they were in office. The secret Service Director at the time, Mark Sullivan was so worried about it, he asked for some Emergency Appropriations and it hardened the perimeter around the White House, and you know, agents on the detail told me repeatedly that they were so worried about him. In part, again, because they knew that The Agency was run ragged. They knew their technology was outdated and they knew that Training Wasnt happening on a regular basis, that rigorous, retraining that we all need but especially we need in our elite security forces. Well, to your point about the Obama Administration hardening the perimeter, the 2011 incident where the shots were actually fired at the White House. Seven bullets struck the second floor and then you revealed that the Secret Service was unaware until four days later . How did they miss that . Well, there were it was bizarre. Imagine a scenario where youre an officer underneath the South Portico and you literally hear gunshots and you are trained to know what a Gun Shot sounds like, and you feel Sandstone And Debris falling and you know what that means and you are told to stand down. That there were not shots fired. The Secret Service leadership knew that there was going on with that shooting, although they didnt tell their employees. They figured out that the person who had basically abandoned the car after fleeing the shooting had had mental problems, had talked about killing Barack Obama. What they didnt know is that t he had actually struck the house seven times, and they learned it from a White House Cleaning Person who alerted the White House usher, who then alerted the first lady. The Cleaning Person found basically broken, shattered glass on the Truman Balcony which happens to be outside the yellow room, which Michelle Obama routinely used as the place to read books and relax with her children. Yeah. Well, im going to leave a teaser for anyone who wants to read more about, certainly, Michelle Obama had that incident in San Francisco at the hotel where someBody Came, you know, perilously close to her. Thats a failure. Anyway, thank you so much for all my Plane Reading when i return back to New York from los angeles. It is a great book. I appreciate you being with me. It is pretty stunning, and i hope your goal of getting all this exposed so the Secret Service can look at it, handle it, fix it, and get back to where we expect them to be and what they want to be. Is actually what happens as a result of it. Carol leonnig, thank you so much. Good to see you, my friend. So, coming out of its shell, how an insect is helping Sound The Alarm about Climate Change.
