That has been critical in getting this into a better place over the last ten days. How concerned are you with the erosion of support for israel among mainstream democrats. You had some who were critical of the u. S. , of the White House for not being forceful enough in demanding a ceasefire. We dont do politics at the national security council, but i think the president has bipartisan support for the israeli relationship that continues to this day. In the aftermath of the ceasefire, i think you will see broad commitment to that. The president indicated he wants to help replenish the iron dome. This was a system developed jointly by the united states and israel that has saved countless lives through a number of conflicts and the u. S. Is committed to helping them replenish that system. The question is if we need a booster and we may not because so far shots have done so well against protecting people from illness and the variants. There is also very good data showing that even in the lab for some of the most new variants, the modernavaccine provided good vaccination. Maybe not quite as much as the original coronavirus but quite a lot. If we need another shot there is research shows that these vaccines can be quickly modified to direct all of their focus to the variants and get very high titers of antibodies. We will be continually assessing. It depends if people lose protection. If they start to lose protection, then we will have a tool. I have a couple questions. Is it a fact that those who got the vaccine earliest including many senior citizens in nursing homes, might need them first . Is it a fact that older people would have less immunity, less antibodies, weaker immunity and would need it sooner in any case . Those are two reasonable things to imagine. That it would be people who got vaccinated first who will lose a little bit of their immunity first and particularly older adults may not have gotten the highest levels of Ability Bodies initially so that is quite possible. Thats why there is on going research to make sure people stay protected. We will see a little bit of a curve that people who have high degree of protection get mildly ill. That may be a sign that we have to think about boosters. Would the booster have to be for the initial shot we got, booster for Moderna Or Pfizer or could it be a universal booster . A good question. They will be studying primarily in people who had their shots. It will probably be optimal to stick with the same vaccine.
