Anthony fauci saying the cdc is looking at new guidance about what vaccinated people can do and we should get a update from that in the coming days. The Cdc Guidance on masks outdoors has never been really firm unless youre going to be within six feet of someone, but all along they said the risk of transmission outdoors is low and they encourage people to do things outside when mask wearing is not feasible. But all of this i think is important and significant because it comes at the 100 Day Mark as were approaching that and you know the president has repeatedly asked people to wear masks for the first 100 days, so it could be a sign to people that the country is moving in the right direction. So if this is an announcement that vaccinated people are able to drop the masks, does that seem reasonable to you . Is there nuance there that might be messed . Whats your sense . I think were looking with a few nuances to make sure in a this message tonights to get out. But want to make sure that people are not dropping masks. Everybody else around me doesnt have masks. And what we know is that being outdoors, being socially distanced from people, we may not need those masks, and at the same time theyre going to say you have to be careful. If youre in gatherings or crowds within you have to keep that on even if youre vaccinated to give out that optics. One thing they have been very good about is using the science. Cleaning, for example, disinfekting. If you remember a year ago were ieping everything down. They said we just need to clean now, not necessarily disinfekt. Theyre using that science appropriately and i think well see more of that tomorrow. If you go to a Baseball Game, you should still have your mask on, does that seem scientifically sound to you . I think it could be if it is an outdoor Baseball Game and possibly like we mentioned earlier if youre in a crowd where other people are vaccinated. Hallie good morning. About 8 of people that receive the first dose of the fiezer of moderna vaccines are not showing up. Some of them could have gotten the second vaccine at a second location. In 2008 the Supreme Court said for the first time that the Second Amendment provides any individual right to own a gun. What the court said is the right is to own a gun at home for self defense. Since then the court has won case after another and declined to take up a follow up issue. Next is the right to keep and bear arms. And so what about guns outside of the home. Now it agreed to take that issue up coming from new york state. In new york there is a law against carrying openly in government but you can carry a concealed weapon. The challengers say it is so restrictive that ordinary Citizens Cant qualify. You have to show a special need other than a general need for self defense. The case will be argued next fall. Interestingly, what changed in all of the years since the court ducked the issue is that we need a more conservative court. Most notably with the appointment of amy coneybarrett. Saying the Second Amendment provides more expansive protection. This s a big Deal Case in is the first big case on the Second Amendment rights, and it comes at a time when there is more and more concern about gun violence. So far we have not received any response about what kind of Security Measures they will have in place. But you know throughout the course of the election and following the election, all of these experience theories about things that didnt happen in the election, they sited the lack of security, which was not true. Im sorry, you mentioned mistakes, im wondering if you are speaking of things like Hand Counters using blue pens, but those are banned in Ballot Counting rooms because they can be read by ballot machines. Other things like on friday an investigative proof was able to get inside, and before friday, get access to the room where it was happening and even get close to ballots in some cases and they were not asked to leave. Yes, absolutely. A lot of the things that we listed they specifically mention the color of pens allowed around live ballots and this was obviously something that was ignored. Do you blame, i wonder, for any part of this, the issue of gerrymandering the State Legislature moving in a more rightward direction which is something that the State Senate used in order to subpoena the ballots and move forward with this . So i dont know how much it refigures into this, but in both chambers of the legislature right now republicans have the Narrowist Margin they have had in our state in decades. The situation is a bit like it was in the new york and the onset of this problem when even simple things like Burial Grounds were not available. It is a terrible situation in india right now. How are you managing that, even from a personal perspective, looking at the devastation that you are describing in a place that you serve . All of us must do our bit. Im a vascular surgeon. But i have doubled up as a covid doctor. Im giving free online consultation to any patient who needs it. Im managing them close to their home. Im spending about 10 to 12 hours a day doing this, talking to the patients, their Care Caregivers and helping them there are many doctors like me doing this. We are a not for profit organization. We are trying to spread the message of the devastation in a professional manner. And we are trying to focus on the vaccination bit. Part of the problem in india is the vaccination never took off the way it was meant to be. Theres an urgent need. The benefits would kick in after a month or two. But that is declining. We absolutely admire the way u. S. And several western countries have controlled covid by way of vaccination. We just spoke with a member of congress here in the u. S. Who is calling on the biden administration to release stockpiles of the Astrazeneca Vaccine to india. That has not been authorized. What kind of a difference might that make for india if that were to happen . Would you like to see it happen in. Absolutely. Of the two vaccines, astrazeneca was the one and it has been given to a large number of people. If we could get vaccine, whether its pfizer or moderna, especially astrazeneca, that would be very good for the country. What is the one thing you need the most right now . Is it the vaccine . Is it Something Else . Is it physical help in the form of doctors . What is the one thing that could help india turn the corner here . I think thats a very difficult question to answer. We need all of these. Anybody, whether its an individual, whether its organization, whether its a philanthropist, national government, it would be welcome. We need doctors, paramedics, doctors and vaccination. Vaccination probably in a slightly medium. But the other things. With so many doctors suffering from covid and the paramedics suffering from covid, they are at a very thinly stretched out in the hospitals. We are all trying to jump in. People like me, im 64. We have even offered that we will go and man the wards if required in the hospitals. Fortunately, it has not come to that. This is the kind of Situation India is in right now. You are doing such important work. We dont know exactly when americans are going to be allowed back in. We dont know what you are going to have to do to prove that you have been vaccinated. The europeans talking about green digital certificates. It would be a Vaccine Passport you would have on your phone similar to whats being used in israel.
