Hello kendis and lindsey. The city of chicago is still processing the release of the Police Shooting Video of 13 year old Adam Toledo. Throughout the day on sunday, gatherings are expected, calling in a Peace March that will happen around 5 pm, central time. Right, now there are two ongoing investigations. One through the civilian office of Police Accountability and the others in the district attorneys office. Protests are hoping that the officer who shot and killed Adam Toledo is going to be charged. When you talk to people, here there is not a lot of faith in the process. The Police Union President came out and threw his weight in support of the officer who shot toledo. People feel betrayed by the police department, betrayed by the mayor and by the prosecutor, who prior to the release of the video, led the public to believe, they feel, but in the video they were going to see Adam Toledo brandishing a gun, clearly holding a gun at the time whos actually shot. That is not ultimately what the video showed. Atin the meantime, what we are hearing from activists is that they are consistently right now encouraging people to be careful about showing images, replaying clips of the scene from that body camera footage. They are concerned that for young people here In The City, latino and black youths here, lets see these images again and again, it will be traumatizing. Really, not just for the youth In The City of chicago, but around the country. People all across the country. Have you seen the video . We now have photos of the eight people who were killed, when that former employee opened fire. The ages, ranging from 19, to 74. A vigil was held yesterday to honor the lives lost following Thursday Nights tragic events in Indianapolis Police are now saying 19yearold brandon scott hold, legally purchased to Assault Rifles. They believe they were used in the Mass Shooting. Authorities previously seized his shotgun in march of last year, following an interview with the fbi after his mom raised concerns about his mental state. A series of events, from local and federal Law Enforcement agencies. There was questioning by the fbi. They were able to seize a shotgun, and that was not returned back to him. There was no indication that there was any sort of ties to extremism, but the Big Question Is, how was he able to purchase two of these Assault Rifles, several months later, later in that summer . And according to the New York times, right now, it does not appear that the suspect was part of, or was subject to the red Flag Law here in the state. This does not mean however that anything is scrapped. As earlier statement described, she plans on driving president trumps America First Agenda with your professional colleagues, and will not let the immediate dictator plans. They never denied having a role in this group. You hear here, the material coming from a hill source, circulating to other republican officers. Meanwhile, as he pointed to in the beginning of this segment that Marjorie Taylor greene issued that statement, blaming the media saying she had never seen that draft level, the staffed Level Draft Proposal of the materials. At the same, time she is still pushing forward with her own agenda, it will be on the ground here. I know a lot of this gets lost in the weeds, amanda, but at the core of this is something that we have congressman on air yesterday, they called this the Ku Klux klan case. What is at the core of this . The core of this is that the language that was used in this proposal that spoke to the platform of the America First Caucus has real racist undertones. It has this language that incites and nativist ideology, it has a long, racist legacy behind, it pushing forward the anglosaxon political reforms, or wanting to go back to a previous era. That is sparking a bit of a Dog Whistle throughout congress and beyond. And those kind of messages are not something new coming from this congresswoman, as we know, she issued very outlandish statements in the past, promoting Conspiracy Theories like qanon, across the media and in her own statements. This is now something that republicans on The Hill have to grapple with and see what those next steps to be. Marjorie Taylor Greene has already been stripped of her Committee Assignments back in february, for previous statements. So to see where this moves forward aside from condemnation and statements from republicans will be interesting, if this is something that you just continue to move forward on a larger platform. Closing arguments set to begin tomorrow, with lawyers on both sides presenting their final most compelling version of what exactly happened on The Street outside cup food, nearly a year ago. What do you think we can expect some Closing Arguments . How long do they typically last . What do you think each side will hone in on . Good morning, thanks for having me. With the defense Closing Arguments in this case, when expecting the prosecution is simply been a journey being walked through a defensive already been flew in the case, when we watch the Prosecution Report a very strong, methodical case and essentially going through three phases. The first phase was to give the jury a very emotional fuel for the color of what the trial was about. You saw witnesses who described the scene, what they saw and what they observed, felt in those moments. Then, they transitioned to a very important, not necessarily exciting but critical stage of their case where they talked about the technical aspects of what was the cause of death of george floyd. What they did was two things. It set the stage to establish a critical element of the case, but also took away unimportant defense, that the defense was intending to advance, that it was not direct chauvin who is responsible for killing george floyd. Finally, they wrapped up with a combination of testimony from george floyds brother, a few other, thats where they ended. Would i expect from them on monday is to simply walk the journey through those testimonies, and say listen, use your Common Sense. The defense on the other hand, they are going to hone in on the fact that it is not the quantity of evidence, it is the quality of evidence. They will say, you heard from the testimony, from experts on the prosecution, you have heard from our experts. It is now up to you to decide who it is that you believe, and what the defense will try to do is try, it will take one or two jurors, to get them to have reasonable doubt, enough to get a Hung Jury. A Hung Jury is all they are hoping for. All right, lets talk about the three charges here that Derek Chauvin is facing, seconddegree unintentional murder, third Degree Murder and second degree manslaughter. We know that first count, seconddegree unintentional murder carries the heftiest penalty, it is also the hardest to prove here. Quickly, we have a couple more questions we want to ask you, do you think prosecutors have proven their case Beyond A Reasonable Doubt . I absolutely do you think they have. I think in terms of its possible that the jury might come back, especially with the manslaughter charge, the easiest for them to get. But it is a possibility that they may not get the murder to, because they might not have proven the case, but because sometimes, juries can be very on particular. I am curious about the Body Language, at least the recorded Body Language of the jurors during this trial. You have been there, in a courtroom. Yes, at the start of a case, especially one this long, they are engaged. But in the defense presentation, some people started to nod off, they were not taking as many notes. Do you read into that, they did not like what they were seeing from the defense, or just tired by this point . I think a combination of both. I think sometimes Trial Fatigue is a real thing for people who have not done it before. This is very intense, emotionally draining. So fatigue is quite possibly a possibility. I do believe that by this point, this is not a trial that no one had any idea about, or knew what it was going into, it so by the time we got to the defense, you have heard 37 witnesses from the prosecution telling you what your Common Sense has already sort of given you, and that is all you are affirming. So by the time the defense began to talk, saying these werent plausible in a number of respects, the jury was probably not as interested in hearing what they had to say. But this particular administration has a new element to it, the element of derangement that comes from some of these more extremist, called like groups. Qanon. And as we have seen over history, some of these groups, individuals within these groups can be immensely violent. And so as you are being fed all of this information through this closed sphere of lies, it will push some people towards violence, to the point where she was clearly enunciating it out loud to her family and friends. Yes, you point out her family in friends, in fact her mother said that her daughter was sick and says that with her husband in jail, and two children to take care of, she was desperate and had nothing to do, that she has lost everything. However, this is i would say, reminiscent of some who have gone down the whole Qanon Conspiracy Theory rabbit hole, would you not say . Did she sound like someone who could have been susceptible to those Extremist Beliefs . Well, you know, over the last three days there has been this conference called a Health And Safety conference by some extremist right wingers, led by general michael flynn, lynn would, you know, the lawyer from the Trump Campaign. And it has been completely unhinged. I mean, some of the weirdest stuff i have ever, seen in a full, open embraced by linwood, of the qanon conspiracy, bringing this into the republican and mainstream, not to mention all of these antivax, antihealth doctors. These people feed a constant stream of information out to susceptible individuals, like this woman, who come to believe that anything that is in the closed Information Loop is gods truth. On the other hand, this could be the trial that shows even if you are an officer of the law, backed up by the state, if you murder somebody, you will find we will find justice, he will be treated properly, you will be indicted and found guilty. You know, we also have to do some other things, though. We will have to make sure that even if people are found guilty at the state level, that they can be prosecuted federally. We may need to start talking about insurance companies saying, we will not pay. If you kill someone, murder someone, as a cop, nothing will come out of your pension, it will come out of the city budgets, and we have to make sure that we could at least say through this culture, that black and brown life is not cheap, you cannot just kill people with impunity. Bishop, i also want to talk to you about the controversial Voting Rights, laws that are moving their way throughout the country, particularly the one signed in georgia. You teamed up with in an oped featured in time, in which both say that Voting Rights should be viewed as a moral issue. How do you convince people of this, particularly when all these similar bills are being debated in other states . Well, isnt that something, here we are in this democracy, years and years after the voting Rights Act was passed, one president said it was the greatest victory in this country, even greater than some of our wars. People are now trying to go backwards and take away Voting Rights. Some of them are basing it on the lies that trump told, but many of us also believe they are afraid of the new federal laws that will eventually be passed, that will expand Voting Rights, and also the restoration of the Voting Rights packed, Article Section five, thats as many of these states will need preclearance before these laws go into effect, they need to be pretty clear by the justice department. They know that they could make it, so it is wrong, it is an impact on our democracy, and this is why, it hurts black people, brown people, poor white people. I was in a room one day with white and black people, we should the connection between those who suppress the vote, and those who block them, block health care, blocking womens rights. This white guy stood up and said, reverend, they are playing us against each other. I said, that is exactly right. Voting suppression creates an impoverished democracy, and this is why it is immoral. In this country, we only allow people to vote, we dont allow pets, parakeets were puppies. So if you suppress the right to vote, you are suggesting that i am not a person, that i do not matter. That is why it is a moral issue. Suppressing my right to vote is literally to say, i do not fit into the description of what america calls a person or a citizen. And that is immoral, we must stop. It i only have about 30 seconds, reverend. You guys are doing something to try to fight all of this, including the fight to run, the filibuster, what are you doing . Well, pastures are going to come together across this country to say that the filibuster is immoral, regressive. It has been used to block or delay every piece of legislation from anti slavery legislation, to welfare, to social security, to civil rights, two women suffrage. Check history, is never been used in a positive way. And if you support the filibuster, we are challenging to say, you are either an enabler, or an advocate of suppression, of regression, you are against civil rights, living wages. You can straddle the fence. The filibuster has never, in history, been used to bring people together. Dont ask me if its wrong on, that its a strange thing that the u. S.
