Emma Buckley slept in a tent in York Gardens last night (April 21) with four others. It is understood a small camp was constructed on Sunday night (April 18) in a bid to save 123 trees set to be cut down to make way for new homes. She told the Local Democracy Reporting Service that it was “freezing outside” and she only managed to sleep for 30 minutes. Protesters are occupying York Gardens in Battersea again to stop trees being felled. “I was cold. My bones ache. I feel I need a serious massage, but I just thought it’s the least I could do. These young people are out there night after night doing this because they are switched on, they understand what’s at stake.”
