The girls are the rarest and highest risk of twinning, called "mono mono twins," because they shared the same amniotic cavity and placenta in utero. “I can’t believe it’s been seven years already,” Sarah said during a recent visit to Akron Children’s Hospital to reminisce about the girls’ birth and for a reunion with one of their neonatologists. “When they were first born, we had all this media attention and it was crazy and then life just settled in. They are regular twin sisters — they fight, they argue, but they also love each other. ... They’re best friends,” said Sarah, a seventh grade math teacher in Canton City Schools. “Now they're old enough to understand that they were on TV and they can Google [and] on YouTube they look up Thistlethwaite twins and they see each other and they watch all their old videos and they think that’s really cool.”
