Miscarriage Rates Are over 40% Higher in Black Women than White Women, Study Finds

A new study has sadly found that Black women have a significantly higher risk – up to 43% – of miscarrying, compared to their white counterparts. The research, from the team at Tommy's baby loss charity, was published in
The Lancetand analysed data from 4.6 million pregnancies in seven different countries in order to reach the conclusion.

It also estimates that 23 million miscarriages occur every year worldwide, equating to over 40 pregnancy losses every minute. As a result of the findings, Tommy's are asking for people in the UK to be given specialist support after their first pregnancy loss (right now, you are only referred to a specialist clinic if you have three consecutive losses.)
