The Michigan health department has confirmed 4,698 new coronavirus cases Saturday, bringing the state total to 819,320 cases since the start of the pandemic.
Another 121 COVID-19 deaths were also reported Saturday. This increases Michigan's death toll to 17,289. Of the 121 deaths, 91 were identified during a vital records review, which the department conducts three times a week.  
In the state’s latest update on vaccines, 71,330 doses were administered in Michigan on Thursday. The seven-day average for doses administered is 74,734, below the state's current target of 100,000 a day. Of the population 16 and older, 34.0% are fully vaccinated, with a goal of 70% vaccinated by the end of the year.
