December 20, 2020MEREDITH — The Parks and Recreation Department has been working through the pandemic, making adjustments while having to cutting some popular programs. Parks and Recreation Director Vint Choiniere gave an update on his department to the selectmen during the Dec. 7 meeting. The pandemic hit the department hard, though they have been finding ways to manage. Choiniere said as of that meeting the budget was 55 percent expended for the year, mainly due to the hold on many programs because of the pandemic. "Luckily, we've been able to offer 90 percent of our normal program schedule," Choiniere said. He said programs with larger groups such as the summer camp weren't able to be offered because of the pandemic. They have been able to offer the after school program and school vacation camp. Choiniere said they will follow the schools' lead and won't offer these programs if the schools are on remote learning.
