"Memo from the Middle" is an opinion column written by RGJ columnist Pat Hickey, a member of the Nevada Legislature from 1996 to 2016.
A lot has changed lately. One big thing: Men are not in charge of politics and governments like they once were. Abraham Lincoln saw it coming, tempering his own trepidations by remarking, “A woman is the only thing I am afraid of that I know will not hurt me.” In Nevada today, if men in elected office relish the thought of maintaining political control, they have good reasons to be afraid.
