Former Governor Terry McAuliffe, who is running for the position again next year, announced that a major part of his education plan will be named after a prominent Harrisonburg historic figure.
McAuliffe announced the Lucy Simms Educator Program this afternoon during a virtual town hall hosted by the James Madison University Center for Civic Engagement.
McAuliffe added that students will need to be Virginia residents and study education at a public university within the state. Plus, the household cannot make over $75,000 per year.
