The faith community in Fort Myers' Dunbar neighborhood and beyond gathered Monday evening to make the case for solutions to social justice issues that hold back many residents when other parts of Lee County are thriving. The 10th Nehemiah Action session, both in-person and virtually, focused on two topics: affordable housing and protecting children from getting caught up in a cycle of involvement with the criminal justice system. Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno and Fort Myers Mayor Kevin Anderson were invited to make specific commitments. Fort Myers City Council member Liston Bochette was present for part of the session, and member Darla Bonk attended via Facebook. Organizers noted no other elected officials attending.
