BOSTON — Amid debate over stimulus check use and climate change, gas prices remain on the rise and some recipients of one-time aid from the federal government will find themselves dumping some of that money into their gas tanks. AAA Northeast reported Monday that the average price of a gallon of gas in Massachusetts rose another 6 cents, landing at $2.75 a gallon in the auto group's weekly survey. The average gas price in the state has shot up 28 cents in the past month alone, and is 34 cents per gallon higher than this time a year ago. "On average, Americans are paying 14% more to fill-up compared to February," said Mary Maguire, AAA Northeast director of public and government affairs, in a statement. "With increased demand and tighter gasoline supplies, we are looking at more expensive pump prices with little relief in the weeks ahead."
