Man, two dogs die in head-on I-96 collision near Novi Road View Comments A man driving in the wrong direction on Interstate 96 near Novi Road died after he collided head-on with another vehicle during the early morning hours of May 23. The other driver was last known to be in serious condition at an area hospital. However, the victim’s dogs did not survive the crash. According to Michigan State Police troopers, they received calls about the wrong-way driver shortly before 3 a.m. The driver, in his 30s, apparently was driving west in the eastbound lanes. Both drivers were hospitalized, but the wrong-way driver was pronounced dead while under hospital supervision.
