Man held for August murder facing new arson-murder charges
FAIRFIELD – The Vacaville man charged with murder in the death of Priscilla Castro in August, has now been charged with murder-arson for reportedly starting the Markley Fire that resulted in two more deaths, Solano County Sheriff Thomas Ferrara said during a press conference held Wednesday afternoon at the Sheriff’s Office.
Victor Serriteno, 29, is scheduled to be arraigned on the new charges in Solano County Superior Court on Friday.
“We believe Serriteno set the fire in an attempt to cover up his crimes,” Ferrara said.
The announcement ends an eight-month investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and the state Department of Forestry and Fire Prevention. A sheriff’s spokesman could not say when investigators started to suspect arson to be the cause of the blaze.
