Share Updated: 1:54 PM CDT May 21, 2021 A man is facing charges after his girlfriend died from a head injury. According to Omaha police, officers were called to 1009 S 28th St. #1 for a CPR in progress on May 16.The victim, 22-year-old female Shaleigh Sovey, was suffering from a head injury and was transported to the Nebraska Medical Center with serious, life-threatening injuries. Police said two days later, she succumbed to her injures and died.According to an affidavit, investigators determined that an argument had taken place between Sovey and her boyfriend, 22-year-old Devon Engel. Engel claimed Sovey had wrapped her legs around him during the fight. He said as he attempted to break contact with her, he turned and caused Sovey's head to strike the floor.The two have two children that were home but did not witness the event. Engel was arrested and booked into Douglas County Corrections for first-degree domestic violence assault and two counts of felony child abuse/neglect.
