Man charged in Butte bus hostage incident sentenced to 10 years

BUTTE — The man charged in a hostage standoff on a bus in Butte in January 2019 appeared in District Court on Wednesday morning.
Judge Kurt Krueger sentenced Dane Anthony Gibson, of Spokane Wash., to 20 years with 10 suspended to the Department of Public Health and Human Services.
On April 25, 2019, Gibson entered a plea of not guilty. His trial was then delayed after the court ordered a mental evaluation.
District Judge Kurt Krueger ordered Gibson, 52, to be sent to the Montana State Hospital for a mental evaluation before any further action was taken on his case.
