People who have recently been using their Lazada app may have noticed a new “ Stay Home” icon. This is specially aimed at encouraging Malaysians to stay home and at the same time is a hub where one can find curated daily essentials and fresh/frozen groceries, amongst other things. Since the introduction of the “Keep Calm and Shop from Home” on Lazada Malaysia, thousands of grocery stores have flocked to the site since last year. With second wave of the Movement Control Order, local grocers have become online business veterans while Malaysians have become accustomed to buying daily essentials and food online. According to Sherry Tan, chief business officer of Lazada Malaysia, the grocery category’s daily average sales has increased over 170 per cent year-on-year across 2020.
