Madison paramedics to carry opioid treatment drug

Paramedics with the Madison Fire Department in Wisconsin will begin carrying buprenorphine, a drug used to treat opioid use disorder.The initiative follows the success of similar programs in West Bend, Greenfield and Milwaukee, and the department hopes to prevent fatal overdoses by providing initial relief and connecting patients to ongoing treatment.
