As detective Jane Tennison in Prime Suspect, Dame Helen Mirren won three BAFTAs and became a household favourite.
Now, she could be persuaded to return to her greatest role after a gap of 15 years.
The creator of Prime Suspect, Lynda La Plante, wants to haul DCI Tennison out of retirement to investigate a cold case — and have Mirren back playing her.
'I'm working on it,' La Plante says. 'I'd love it for the screen. I'd love to meet Helen and say: 'Come back now. One more time, Helen.' '
