A major winter storm lingered over central Iowa on Tuesday morning after parts of Iowa got almost a foot of snow.

To our readers: The Des Moines Register E-edition will be free on Tuesday. We are making it available to all in the wake of Monday's snowstorm, which caused delivery issues for some print subscribers across the state. Our drivers were unable to get most state trucks to their destinations on time for partner delivery. Deliveries outside of the Des Moines will be made on Wednesday. In the Des Moines metro area, deliveries will be made throughout the day and on Wednesday once there is access to residential streets.
