A man shot in the head and chest 10 years ago by a notorious gangland thug has pleaded guilty to possession of a handgun and bullets.
Limerick man Daniel Philips (30), who will be sentenced in February, had dumped the gun from a car while being chased by gardai last year.
The 30-year-old knows first-hand the effects of gun crime after his recovery from the 2010 gun attack was described as a miracle.
Shane Mason, who is linked to the Keane/Collopy gang, got a 16-year- sentence in 2012 for the shooting in which Philips was left for dead.
During that case it was heard how Philips had spent a month in a coma after bullet fragments were removed from his skull and chest.
