The quake hit at an intermediate depth of 108 km beneath the epicenter near San Juan Mazatlan, San Juan Mazatlán, Oaxaca, Mexico, in the morning on Wednesday 23 December 2020 at 8:00 am local time. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data. Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.3 as well.
