The academic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic is already apparent in Leon County Schools students' grades: Across the district, public high school students earned nearly five times as many F grades already this year compared to grades earned last school year. In order to address the yawning gap educators had predicted would expand during the pandemic, Leon County Schools has launched its #Summer850 program with the goal of preventing academic regression. The goal of the project, according to the school district, is to host eight academic programs over the course of five weeks to keep students from falling further behind.
