started off a little chilly though at 27 degrees but we were well above average. normal high temperature would have us at 41 and hard to believe february is just around the corner. and you may not want to hear this, it is our snowiest month on average. we typically pick up about 9-inches of snowfall through the month. it's our second coldest month so we've gotten through our first coldest almost january, temperature about 44 degrees. we gained over an hour of sunlight from february 1st to the end of the month. so, that will be a nice part of february. for right now though enjoying these temperatures getting a live look at center city philadelphia, 55 degrees. that southerly component to our wind flow ushering in this warmth. wind speeds about 12 miles an hour and it will be breezy at times tonight. temperatures right now elevated all across the area. 54 in trenton, 56 in wilmington, 53 degrees right now in atlantic city. storm scan3 showing us locked in with the cloud cover right now. we are mainly dry but we do have this area of precipitation up wind, a very well developed line of rainfall in association with a cold front. this is going to continue its trek eastbound and we're going to see that rain moving in as we head into the overnight period. so if you plan to be out and about especially late tonight bring along the umbrella. we'll start to see some shower activity developing especially in the city after midnight and then it becomes more widespread the later we head throughout the overnight and a little heavier in intensity especially as we head towards day break. tonight cloud cover keeps temperatures up into the upper 40's through much of the overnight period. we have a flood watch in effect for parts of the poconos monroe. northampton counties. this is in effect through sunday afternoon and this is mainly because of some ice jams. then we add the rain on top of that so we could see localized flooding so heads up there. as we head throughout the evening hours mainly dry but then that band of rain arrives north and west of the city berks county, the lehigh valley and the poconos by about 11 o'clock spreading its way eastbound so after midnight, starting to push into the i-95 corridor, philly suburbs and jersey and eventually down the shore as we head into the late overnight period and we are going to see the most persistent rainfall especially south and east of the city but for the first half of the day in and around philadelphia looks like it's going to be fairly wet especially for our jersey suburbs. that rain persisting mainly south and east as we head into the afternoon hours and then down the shore you could see this rain persisting even into the evening hours and then kind of reemerging as we will see see another area of low pressure that that will reenergize this first system that's bringing us this moisture and energy and we clear out as we head into monday and we'll have a secondary rain or snow chance late monday. could get .3, maybe a half inch in philadelphia our models looking pretty consistent on the amount we are going to pick up as we head into about the next 24 hours. rain developing tonight especially after midnight breezy at times only falling back to 46 degrees and then for our sunday, periods of rain especially right around the city for the first half of the day and then into the afternoon hours for south jersey the shore and parts of delaware. still mild at 54 degrees but then that temperature rollercoaster returns as we head into the upcoming week. we're 46 degrees on monday with the chance of a rain or snow shower. we could see some snow developing as we head monday night and our models are indicating that we will see light snow. the timing is a little up for grabs at this point but i'm thinking especially for the first half of the day amounts look minimal maybe about a coating to 2-inches but stay tuned to that evolving forecast. our chilly day is going
