will. so let me show you a look at those numbers in the region in the poconos right around 30 degrees. we have 33 right now on i-95 corridor in philadelphia, right around 29 degrees for places like atlantic city and other places in the region we have 30 in wilmington. thirty-three in dover. thirty-three in lab caster. right around 32 degrees in reading. very similar numbers compared to where we started out, yesterday especially right along i-95. so that is a really good sign that the numbers will be climbing, and goes, as we head in the afternoon once again, temperatures will be well above average, making it in the 50's, not quite as warm as i don't think it was yesterday , but it will come close. we will top out in the lower 50's. we will talk about. that wind speed right now calm in many locations you can see from reading down the shore wildwood, atlantic city checking in around calm, 6 miles an hour out of the south in philadelphia wind is not an issue today unlike yesterday dry for the game. this evening. 6:40 p.m. right around 47 degrees. that is our forecast temperature at kick off, we have bumped it up from yesterday, and storm scan three shows us that we are very quiet, in fact, a lot of areas starting off with a good amount of sunshine this sunday morning. you can see this cloud deck located out to the west that is going to be thickening up and also on the increase, through the day the day-to-day we are tracking a system out to the west and that is bringing us our next chance for solid rain but not until tuesday morning. let me she you how things play out as we track this winter rain helping our way. high pressure remains in control, now heading in the overnight hours tonight and then also into machine we cannot rule out a stray, isolated sprinkle but overall forecast is looking rather dry , especially through the day-to-day. we are staying completely dry, seeing this rain pushing in the tennessee valley and then ohio valley monday night and then by tuesday morning it will be an in our neck of the wood. we could see maryland rate to heavy rain out of this. high temperature staying mild through tuesday, highs in the 50's, looking good for eagles game, looking dry, and then rain is going to be arriving tuesday morning, and then, it is lasting all the way in the afternoon before we really start to dry out, by tuesday evening. so, more up and down temperatures heading our way, we are up until the front arrives, behind the front we have dropped down significant ly in the mid 40's and then 38 degrees as we head into thursday. high temperatures ra cross the region around 50 degrees along i-95 corridor, 40's elsewhere down the shore and up in the poconos. your seven day forecast, 44 degrees on wednesday, 38 on tuesday but even 38 degrees, jan compared to the numbers we have dealt with this janice really not that bad. >> not bad at all, thanks, chelsea. 7:19. time to see how traffic is moving, here's matthew work mister in the flag humphrey's flag company, boosts quite a collection, and including this one from the civil war. >> there is history meaning symbolism in them and a lot of people have pride, respect, for them. >> reporter: zachary o'donnell business humphrey's and says that despite history literally covering the walls in here it is the eagles flag he has been hearing about from customers lately. >> we have a license where we can make the flags for the stadium. >> reporter: but unfortunately humphreys cannot sell these specific flags to the public so they have sold them to the team. >> after the sun beats down and it gets faded they bring them back here. >> reporter: zachary o'donnell says she is walls can talk and they tell quite a story of different point in time. he is hoping that this flag will one this point nfc championship game just a few hours away. by the end of the day we will know who in fact is heading to the super bowl. in south philadelphia alycia nieves for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". in other news today this morning the government is still shut down as lawmakers do not appear to be any closer to an agreement. next vote is not scheduled until 1:00 a.m. on monday that measure doesn't include anything on immigration, and democrats want protections from young immigrants against deportation, republicans are refusing to make a deal on immigration until the government is back opened. the federal government shut down yesterday, which was the anniversary of president trump 's inauguration. in other news, the death toll from california's mud slide has listen to 21. officials say bod irv 28 year-old fabiola called youron , and, and son, sister in law all died in a mud slide >> they were gardeners and housekeepers this was not fancy, this is pretty much, old fashion, working class. shooting happened just after 4:00 yesterday afternoon in the 3300 block of smedley street in north philadelphia. the man was taken to the hospital where he later died, in word yet on a motive or a possible suspect. still to come right here on cbs-3 "eyewitness news" we are a few hours away from kick off, hear why fletcher cox thinks that eagles defense will be especially important to him tonight. that is coming up back on "eyewitness news" checking out our forecast we will be able to enjoy this mild stretch of weather a little bit longer. >> we have been, a few more days and some days will be even warmer then what we have dealt with through the day-to-day. trade off we will have some rain and we will cover all that including your game day forecast, here's a look at cape may. our camera live atop montreal inn could see a couple included off the shore but really a beautiful start,of sunshine glowing on those buildings, right now, and then a live look at our roof cam. you can see we have blue skies starting off the morning as well but we have cloud that are going to be on the increase throughout the day-to-day. sunshine will in the last all day long. temperature wise though we are very similar to where we were this time yesterday, especially right along i-95 corridor. that is a good sign because we have plenty of time for those numbers to climb once again, i don't think it will be as warm as what we dealt with yesterday afternoon when we topped out in the mid to upper 50's in some locations but we are looking at lower 50's heading in the latter part of the afternoon today. it is 33 degrees in philadelphia 27 in millville. down the shore we're right around 30 degrees in wildwood. twenty-nine in atlantic city. we're rather warm in allentown almost 40 degrees there as we start off your sunday morning, almost 40 degrees in trenton as well. thirty-one in the poconos. looking at wind they are calm in many location from his reading down to the shore, also into delaware, very light , in philadelphia, right around 6 miles per hour. yesterday we dealt with the wind chill factor as we started out the day and a rather gusty afternoon but winds will not get in the way of tailgaters or football players either, later on this evening. so here's your tailgate forecast, mixtures of sun and cloud as we start out those early bird at noon some already there, of course, 45 degrees. by 2:00 o'clock 48 degrees, very pleasant light winds expected throughout the day and then turning mostly cloudy and that will happen rather quickly as we head in the latter part of the afternoon and by game time we will be dealing with plenty of cloud, out there. but 47 degrees, how does that sound, i mean for football in january? this is almost ideal, what we are dealing with, and, away this evening or not so the warmth actually favors, eagles are then three games eagles playoff history where kick off temperature has been 40 or higher, and eagles happen to win all three of those games, in addition now, out scoring their opponents 27-15. it looks like this warmer milder weather is good news forbidder. on storm scan three we are very, very quiet across the delaware valley we have located cloud out to the west moving from west to east, and also thickening up throughout the day-to-day, so that sunshine, will in the go away rather quickly as we head in the afternoon as those included moving n we are tracking a system located out to the west, that will be bringing rain, to portions of tennessee valley as we head into monday, and then monday night, we're looking at it moving in the ohio valley and then by tuesday morning, it is going to be pushing in our neighborhood and we could have moderate to heavy rainfall, at times, with this cold front swinging on through, so the breeze will kick up as well and that breeze will actually stay with us as we head into wednesday, behind this front, so, high in the 50's while the front arrives all the way through tuesday, looking good though for eagles looking dry and then rain will be arriving by tuesday morning, behind the rain, temperatures will drop, and i mean drop pretty significantly. 44 degrees by wednesday. thirty-eight on thursday. that is rather seasonal for this time of the year and certainly numbers that we can handle after the january we have had. looking at a high temperature right around i-95 around 50 and then down the shore upper 40's and lower 40's in the poconos. you're witness weather seven day forecast, 57 on tuesday grab the umbrella, 44 on wednesday and 38 on thursday, jan. >> chelsea, thank you. 7:43. time to check road and highways lets go over to matthew workmister in the cbs-3 traffic center. >> good morning, jan we are keeping an eye on the serious accident on i-95 southbound on broad street. we are looking live, road still closed and traffic southbound diverted off broad street. this happened early this morning. police have a detour set up and asking to avoid the your use if possible. staying in fail this september broad street line will run sports express trains depart ing from fernrock transportation center between 3:45 and 5:45 p.m. for today's eagles playoff game. kick off at 6:40. we will take a live look at vine street expressway at schuylkill expressway, you can see traffic picking up, now is best time to head out if you are planning to travel this morning the in the traffic center i'm matthew workmister now jan, back to you. >> thank you. eagles are sizing up competition for tonight's nfc championship game against minnesota vikings kick off at 6:40. here's leslie van arsdal with "eyewitness sports". >> you know the saying defense wins championship? tonight two of the top five defenses will take the feel in the nfc title game. this point nfc championship game just a few hours away. by the end of the day we will know who in fact is heading to the super bowl. in south philadelphia alycia nieves for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". in other news today this morning the government is still shut down as lawmakers do not appear to be any closer to an agreement. next vote is not scheduled until 1:00 a.m. on monday that measure doesn't include anything on immigration, and democrats want protections from young immigrants against deportation, republicans are refusing to make a deal on immigration until the government is back opened. the federal government shut down yesterday, which was the anniversary of president trump 's inauguration. in other news, the death toll from california's mud slide has listen to 21. officials say bod irv 28 year-old fabiola called youron , and, and son, sister in law all died in a mud slide >> they were gardeners and housekeepers this was not fancy, this is pretty much, old fashion, working class. shooting happened just after 4:00 yesterday afternoon in the 3300 block of smedley street in north philadelphia. the man was taken to the hospital where he later died, in word yet on a motive or a possible suspect. still to come right here on cbs-3 "eyewitness news" we are a few hours away from kick off, hear why fletcher cox thinks that eagles defense will be especially important to him tonight. that is coming up back on "eyewitness news" checking out our forecast we will be able to enjoy this mild stretch of weather a little bit longer. >> we have been, a few more days and some days will be even warmer then what we have dealt with through the day-to-day. trade off we will have some rain and we will cover all that including your game day forecast, here's a look at cape may. our camera live atop montreal inn could see a couple included off the shore but really a beautiful start,of sunshine glowing on those buildings, right now, and then a live look at our roof cam. you can see we have blue skies starting off the morning as well but we have cloud that are going to be on the increase throughout the day-to-day. sunshine will in the last all day long. temperature wise though we are very similar to where we were this time yesterday, especially right along i-95 corridor. that is a good sign because we have plenty of time for those numbers to climb once again, i don't think it will be as warm as what we dealt with yesterday afternoon when we topped out in the mid to upper 50's in some locations but we are looking at lower 50's heading in the latter part of the afternoon today. it is 33 degrees in philadelphia 27 in millville. down the shore we're right around 30 degrees in wildwood. twenty-nine in atlantic city. we're rather warm in allentown almost 40 degrees there as we start off your sunday morning, almost 40 degrees in trenton as well. thirty-one in the poconos. looking at wind they are calm in many location from his reading down to the shore, also into delaware, very light , in philadelphia, right around 6 miles per hour. yesterday we dealt with the wind chill factor as we started out the day and a rather gusty afternoon but winds will not get in the way of tailgaters or football players either, later on this evening. so here's your tailgate forecast, mixtures of sun and cloud as we start out those early bird at noon some already there, of course, 45 degrees. by 2:00 o'clock 48 degrees, very pleasant light winds expected throughout the day and then turning mostly cloudy and that will happen rather quickly as we head in the latter part of the afternoon and by game time we will be dealing with plenty of cloud, out there. but 47 degrees, how does that sound, i mean for football in january? this is almost ideal, what we are dealing with, and, away this evening or not so the warmth actually favors, eagles are then three games eagles playoff history where kick off temperature has been 40 or higher, and eagles happen to win all three of those games, in addition now, out scoring their opponents 27-15. it looks like this warmer milder weather is good news forbidder. on storm scan three we are very, very quiet across the delaware valley we have located cloud out to the west moving from west to east, and also thickening up throughout the day-to-day, so that sunshine, will in the go away rather quickly as we head in the afternoon as those included moving n we are tracking a system located out to the west, that will be bringing rain, to portions of tennessee valley as we head into monday, and then monday night, we're looking at it moving in the ohio valley and then by tuesday morning, it is going to be pushing in our neighborhood and we could have moderate to heavy rainfall, at times, with this cold front swinging on through, so the breeze will kick up as well and that breeze will actually stay with us as we head into wednesday, behind this front, so, high in the 50's while the front arrives all the way through tuesday, looking good though for eagles looking dry and then rain will be arriving by tuesday morning, behind the rain, temperatures will drop, and i mean drop pretty significantly. 7:43. time to check road and highways lets go over to matthew workmister in the cbs-3 traffic center. >> good morning, jan we are keeping an eye on the serious accident on i-95 southbound on broad street. we are looking live, road still closed and traffic southbound diverted off broad street. this happened early this morning. police have a detour set up and asking to avoid the your use if possible. staying in fail this september broad street line will run sports express trains depart ing from fernrock transportation center between 3:45 and 5:45 p.m. for today's eagles playoff game. kick off at 6:40. we will take a live look at vine street expressway at schuylkill expressway, you can see traffic picking up, now is best time to head out if you are planning to travel this morning the in the traffic center i'm matthew workmister now jan, back to you. >> thank you. eagles are sizing up competition for tonight's nfc championship game against minnesota vikings kick off at 6:40. here's leslie van arsdal with "eyewitness sports". >> you know the saying defense wins championship? tonight two of the top five defenses will take the feel in the nfc title game. vikings with a number one, and they will key in on stopping the eagles rushing attack. bird have a third best running game in the league. eagles defense ranked fourth overall, they were number one betweens the run. key number is 225, when case keenum threw for 225-yard, vikings are eight-one. how do you think need to step up. >> i think defense has to play really good. we know, everybody else know, this game will be a game of possession, and we got to get some take aways and at the even of the game it will come down is our d line better to their. they have a dominant deline, we do as well. back to back matinees for flyers this afternoon playing capitols yesterday devils and orange and black had won five out of six including last saturday's five-three win in north jersey. no score in the first we will go, ghost, to travis konecny his seventh goal of the season one to nothing. still in the first michael raf l knocks the puck, to the crease and it is two to nothing. they weren't done just yet. konecny to ivan provorov to put on the rebun flyers scored three times in the first to beat devils, three-one. and the maintenance crew down at the center had to make a quick turn over to the hockey surface to the hardwood , sixers faced the bucks. sixers up by one, pass to joel embiid, hits the three and good. eighteen points in the first half. sixers up by a dozen. later in the 29 points nine board and sixers never looked back. fourth quarter sixer up by 18, ben simmons has lay up, 16 points, and sixers win 116-94. they are now two games over 500. >> we played great tonight. great defenses specially in the informality quarter and we got to get the win, you know, with the eagles, we have to give the ball, and wish them good luck and everything is working pretty well, and we have to keep working. >> to college hoops two former bige rivals square off top rankedville know of played u-conn in hartford. the defense coming through first half nova forces turn over, and jaylen brownson initial for two of his team height 23 points and cats with a 17-point lead. they put game away in the second half daunte divincenzo just drills the three he had 17 points the cats cruised past the husky. to the palestra fran dunphy and temple owls begins penn in the city series. second half game tied, aj brodeur for three it is good quakers take a three-point lead. but the place is pumped. the owls respond. austin, three ball, from the top hits nothing but bottom of the neck, all tied up, under a minute left owls up by two and you know what, they will make it five. josh brown, three pointer is good. and 60-51. lasalle on the road against richmond in a-10 action. game tied with a minute left, jerod left open and makes explorer pay by nailing three. spiders win on the seven to nothing wrong to end the game and beat lasalle 81-74. that is all for sports. i'm leslie van arsdal. have a great day. go bird. still to come this morning on cbs-3 "eyewitness news", this cbs-3 pet project. animal advocate carroll erickson is here and she will show us how they are using eagles under dog status to fine healths for some loving animals. don't miss it we will be right welcome back and time for the pot project with animal advocate carroll erickson, s p.c. a and mumu. >> the dogs, they are very tired from just being in the shelter and just that activity , they come here and they want to relax this dog, fabulous dog found as a stray a week ago in fishtown and this is a boxers mix. we will talk about him, he has his eagles jersey on. >> you know, you can consider him an under dog as well. >> sure. >> we have been talking under dog all week and it was chris long our defensive end, who donned the dogmas being and just kind of highlighting the under dog, status that they have going for them, it is the eagles and it keeps things going, keeps momentum up but there are some real under dogs , as well, that permanently have on that dog face, and at pennsylvania spca and you can see we are getting very involved in this. we have a lot of our dogs in the eagles sweat shirt gear and that sort of thing. these are rescue dogs, in hunting park, that have really defied the odd, because they have come in as cruelty cases and they are waiting for their chance and that is joann cok ier, fabulous communications director there. they are waiting. that is the dog bear who are waiting for their chance, for their forever home because they are, under dogs and that term under doggie looked it up like where does that come from it came from the 19th century and it came from the dog fighting term in the 19th century that dog that was on the bottom that was losing was the under dog and that top dog was the other one. that is why we don't ever want to see dog fighting ever again the term can be fine met straighting a sports team but there are real dogs that have had some problems that need help and those are won we'd like to help out. just like this guy mumu. other thing, people today will be watching game tonight and they will get very excited, screaming, yelling that can be alarming to your pets because all of a sudden they don't know what you are watching, on tv and they cannot distinguish green and red. they will just see in shade of yellow and blue when they watch tv. they hear you sitting there and you are screaming, moaning , throwing something, that can really stress them out. >> not just dogs, but cats too speaking for riley i can get animated, my vote can go up and then he is in the position where he looks concern, would i say i'm sorry, riley. >> yes, we would not like a demonstration of your animation that terrifies your cat but something that everybody can look at mumu so sweet ready to rest at your feet too. just watching screaming and yelling because the dog can get stressed out and they don't know why they are screaming and yelling, adopt able animals, bless you, so, other adoptable animals, this is wrangler
